  1. As he party readies themselves for another assault, Masson seemed to be checking his own wounds. The back of his head was horribly bruised, and still a bit bloody, from Charon's ambush. A wound in his chest that made every breath paifnul and difficult. And a long, shredded gash that started at his left knee and travelled up to his right thigh, courtesy of Immortalis' tail, making it hard to stay standing. "It's not looking good..." The dragon takes a beating as well. The heroes notice that his hands semed to be trembling as he prepared to strike again... The battle rages on! "Such folly..." Immortalis, Father Of Dragons, Level 200 Electric *Bleeding 10!* *Poison 20!* *Immune to Instant Kill, Minimization, and Hexed!* HP: 26,754/50,000 SP: -175 Specials: Wrath Of The Sky: Immortalis calls forth a barrage of lightning strikes, smiting the heroes. All heroes have a 2/3 chance of taking electrical-elemental damage equal to their level times two. This attack also temporarily changes Immortalis's type from Ancient to Electric for 3 rounds. Roar of Time: Immortalis unleashes a roar so strong that it can rend any armor. Three random heroes are reduced to 1 HP and lose all of their positive effects. Final Verdict: Immortalis deals 250 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage, and passes his verdict upon the party, Dooming all of them. Specials decided randomly. Passive Specials: Last Stand: All of Immortalis' limbs share the same 50,000 HP. Limbs cannot be taken out individually - All of his body parts fall when the collective HP hits zero. Adapt: All negative effects last two rounds on any of Immortalis' parts - when they expire, they will be permanently added to that body part's list of immunities. An insta-kill attack will not destroy that limb, but it will reset its immunities back to the default ones. (Immortalis cannot adapt to Bleeding, Poison, Burning, and Fragile, so those effects will work as they normally do.) Torn To Shreds: All attacks reduce the SP of the limb being damaged by 25; SP can go into the negatives, adding to the damage of attacks. Targeting and successfully hitting Immortalis' head reduces the SP of all body parts by 50. Bombs do not lower SP or recieve extra damage due to negative SP.   4. I'll add onto this by saying something: High level parties are really, really hard to kill. Okay, maybe I should elaborate on that. Any boss battle or major battle should have potential to be failed. Otherwise you're just wasting everyone's time with a roadblock that falls only when everyone's timezones coordinate properly to have the QM post the rounds to move the plot along. That's not really that fun. Look at 147,148, for instance. I think the former has 3 Incenses and the latter has something crazy like 8. That means that, if an enemy encounter wants to have a hope in hell of causing a quest fail, it either needs to A) Kill the entire party in a single round, so they can't use any of their items. B) Make something so weird happen that a quest fail occurs. C) Kill every hero roughly 3-8 times. "A" and "B" are also not that fun. I will confess right now that Immortalis was intended to be very firmly in the "C" camp. I designed him specifically to get at least a couple of knockouts per round, simply because otherwise, the party is damn near invincible. It's an unfortunate result of power creep, yes, but if you want to have a relatively traditional fight, sometimes the solution has got to be bigger numbers. I also made a point of having Immortalis' AoEs able to be mitigated (hint hint, target the claws at the proper place in the battle order or they will tear the battle order up... or down, in the second claw's case), have a delay (Full party Doom is actually kinda weak, especially since minstrel can sing a song and cure that instantly.), hits some people based on random chance, or hits everyone but is fairly weak. Everything else just hits one unfortunate soul really, REALLY hard.

The dragon recoils, but seems to quickly regain his balance. He decides that using his tail was the best approach. The spines on the side of his serpentine lower half sharpen as they shred through the party not once, but twice! Only the party's Fenghuang Incense was keeping them from being entirely destroyed now, and still, many found themselves weary. Fortunately, Vindsval's guardian angel provides some reprieve from the elder's seemingly endless barrage of attacks. "It's been so long since I saw a true angel." Immortalis bows respectfully to the divine being hanging above the party, before charging his claws with more electricity. One of the seemingly lifeless flowers begins to shimmer, not unlike the one the party pilfered off of Telethia's corpse. Just where and when the party was was unclear - a building, an alley, outside - they could not be certain. There was a fire, a bonfire, and three figures surrounding it. Also, attacks that are purely Immortalis using lightning (e.g. Wrath Of The Skies) were all supposed to be lightning elemental. Null Beam and Lightning Blast have been adjusted to do Electrical-elemental damage, because I forgot the tags the first time around.

  25. It was a somber climb. The night sky was clear, a black void that seemed to get darker the higher the party ascended. The rolling green plains of Eschaton gave way to the small mountain they were ascending step by step. Silence surrounded them, only the deep blue sconces illuminating their way. And yet, despite the beauty of this realm, the party knew that their own home was being ravaged by an increasingly apocalyptic storm. if they close their eyes, they could've sworn they heard thunder, pitter-patter... The greenery of Eschaton gives way to a dull, lifeless gray as the party makes their final ascent. it seems age sucked the vigor out of this part of Eschaton. Finally, the party reaches the summit of the stairs, and find Immortalis. Arx and Miirym stand next to the primordial dragon, unharmed, staring at into the endless expanse of sea. Gentle waves stir and crash onto the shore of the ancient garden, rusting the blades and axes and halberds and staves thrust into the terrain. "It is time for you to rejoin the others, little ones." says Immortalis, turning towards the party. "So, you've made it - here, the most secluded little garden in the world.
