Considering that Masson is a fairly tall gentleman, I'm wondering how tall Karie's heels are beneath that dress- she is clearly towering over him at some points.

"Remember what I said in the Marketplace, lad. Beauty can't last, so make sure you have something else besides it."
-
I give a smirk, although it was impossible to notice. "Oh, yes... And you're quite the trendsetter, aren't you?"
-
"Actually, the broad working in the medbay says its the opposite. The smell was the only thing strong enough to wake his brain up - so it could tell his body to collapse. Honestly, if he hadn't gotten his head out of the clouds and finally fall unconscious, he could've very easily have killed himself from utter exhaustion."

I look as heroes all about plant their shoulders on the tables, trying desperately to slam down their opponent's hand. The occasioanl "thunk" can be heard throughout the hall. "That is the newest trend, huh?"

QM Note: Flipz once again ran another round for me, but soon I will be returning full throttle. Guest QM Note: Erdy isn't Hastened anymore (because she was Knocked Out), so unfortunately Jetorix gets 40 health back. Things...didn't go much better from there. Round Eleven of the Riot Battle! >Em VS Jetorix (back): Damage (No confusion; 48/2=24-4=20 damage, Em KO'd.) >Sarge VS Jetorix (back): Special Mirror (No confusion; Mob Stampede: 48/2/2=12 damage) (18+19.5=37.5/2/2=10-5=5 damage Jetorix) >Erdathcath VS Jetorix (back): Damage Critical Hit (13x2=26+19=45-5=40 damage) >Sarge VS Jetorix (back): Damage (No confusion; 48/2=24 damage) Jetorix utterly decimates everyone. Besides smelling absolutely terrible, it had no negative effects on the party. However, the stench seemed to prove too much for the exhausted and blank Elgar. As soon as he walks into the room, he crumples to the knees, collapsing like a puppet with its string cut. No amount of healing seemed to be capable of getting him back up... He was running a horrible fever. Jeaux carries his limp body out of the deeps, careful not to trip down the mounds of black rock he had used to ascend to his height. After about half an hour of backtracking, he finally makes it back to the Deep's entrnace, his pistons and gears whirring faster than before due to having to carry Elgar about. He is met by the blacksmith, who is astonished. "Wait, what? He just... Collapsed? Urgh... We'll sort this out ASAP." The Blacksmith takes Elgar in his arms, slithering off. Whichever you prefer, really. I imagine reading through it would be a lot more informative, but I can summarize it up for you if you wish.
-
They've met - Twice, actually! Telepathically - one was in an intelrude in 48, one was just a meta-example where we were testing Expert Classes.
-
I stride - not shamble, surprisngly, given my track record of walking into the hall like a wobbling maniac - into the hall. The past quest had been nowhere near as physically taxing as all the others. I take a seat, and begin taking sips of water. -------------------------------------- Chosen Hero for Quest 81: -Johon (BricksAndParts) QM Note: I'll write you in in the next quest update, B&P. For now, you can hit the marketplace.
-
Hey, The Regret doesn't think you're a monster.
-
I'm more referring to the fact that he attempted to get us to arrest Hoples due to the cherry connection, which I'm guessing was scripted - otherwise the quest really wouldn't have moved anywhere.
-
We must have differing view points then, because I never really felt any tension at all. Honestly, to sum it up, I felt as if the quest was meatless, basically. A great set-up for a mystery... But there never really was a mystery. After determining what was even stolen (Phase 1 of any investigation, basically) Watsap exposed himself. And with no other vaguely reasonable suspects, who else would we accuse, realistically?
-
I'm a bit divided on 87, really. First off: In terms of set building, this quest was by far your best, in my opinion. every picture and set was superb, and the character designs were great too - you are one of my favorite builders on here, Sandy. NPC interaction was stellar too, although we didn't get too spend too much time with them. The suspects in the marketplace after we cleared all of the zany and really fun to watch - flat, but definitely entertaining. Bunnina was my favorite out of the bunch. The cameos were good as well - thanks for including Lillith in the quest, I really appreciate it. Beyond the presentation, however, the quest struck me as a bit flawed. It didn't really feel like we were solving a mystery; It felt more along the lines of five rounds of I Spy, and suddenly the culprit reveals himself. The quest almost seemed arbitrary, in a way... I almost feel as if we should've been supplied with the information we spent the whole quest getting, and simply go off it from there. Instead, it felt like the quest was almost entirely just five games of I Spy; because in a way, it pretty much was. There was not really any evidence, contradictions, textimony was minimal, investigation was confined to photos we couldn't really interact with. There was pretty much no conflict and nothing to spur all that much RP... I like Sorrow to react to the quest's trials around him, and there really wasn't that much in general. It seemed to rely too much on real-time events as well... The quest was literally lootless, so if you wanted to get anything out of it beyond the Expert Class, you had to basically pounce on the updates. Overall, Sandy, I enjoyed the presentation immensely, but it didn't really feel like a mystery. I'm glad you took me along, but I feel this quest was a step lower from the great ones you usually deliver.

Heroica RPG - Quest#87: The Marketplace Mystery
Endgame replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
I can merely give a judgemental look as Watsap comes clean. I raise an eyebrow as several items, each bigger than the last, pour out of his hat - how was that even possible? "It truly is a shame that he did that... I hgighly doubt its going to help the Kobold's place in Eubric, that is for sure. Been a pleasure working with you all." I give a slight bow. "Even you, monk." I stare at the wriggling turtle in Thalion's hands. "The Merry Mermaid really isn't an establishment I'd like to be seen in... I have already got in several barfights in my Heroica careeer, and I don't think you need my appearance to set off another. I'll be seeing you all soon, heroes. Til' then." With that final remark, I jam my hands in my pockets, and tread back to the hall. This was one of the more mundane quests, to be sure, but sometimes it was nice to simply have a quick day in work. Maybe I'll finally be able to catch up on my prayers.- 327 replies

Besides an awful smelling layer of soot around the bottom step, it was clearly good enough to be walked on.

I'm hoping late December? I still haven't gotten my health back entirely yet, so updates have been slow. Sometimes I begin to write battle updates and just get slmmaed with a sudden wave of exhaustion and/or a chronic migraine, and have to lie down for a bit.

"Unfortunately, given our time constraints, i highly doubt it will be acknowledged...." I give a slight bow to Serevan, fffering my hand for a handshake. "How do you do, Serevan? Ultimately, I'd have to agree with the other heroes... Watsap is the only indiviudal that would truly have a motive. There was no reason for him to suddenly turn on Hoples - he seemed able to connect the dots plenty quickly, and likely had already once-overed the photos."- 327 replies

"Unrelated or not, we'll have to confront the Copper Fox about this, one way or another. It adds up far, far too well for my tastes... I'm trying to take motive into account here, but thus far I am drawing a blank. The elderly rabbit woman... Bunnina, was it...? Is the only one who really has a suspicious light around them. What use would a superstar, for example, have for stealing all of those things?"- 327 replies

QM Note: Flipz once again ran anothe rround for me while the holidays were keeping me busy! Guest QM Note: Em, if Endgame forgets to account for your 4 SP again, smack him or something. What has been said about 86 is pretty much completely accurate. Octavyn being read book: I can agree with that one. The quest was originally going to be a lot more Octavyn oriented, but now it seems it was a good idea to withdraw him from such a major role. One of his major traits has always been his inability to shut up: In fact, he was originally going to be a lot worse. Thankully, I turned his outgoing-ness down quite a bit, and now he is atleast somewhat likeable. In fact, the fact that he can't shut his mouth was really what got himself barbequed: Even Augustus lampshades this was one of the reasons he resented Too rail-roady: I'd agree with that as well. You did have choices, though: You indeed could've taken the drugs from the junkies. Octavyn would've offered to slice them up for you, and they would've headed down and managed to puzzle out the gate, after some time. Doppel would've slaughtered the, however, so... Also: There were tons of hiden stuffs on the back of the documents. I have always hid stuff on the back of pieces of paper. Too Karie-centric: I feared this was happening as well. I wanted someone from both the oculoid and Syndicate story archs to help get the other heroes in the know (Otherwise, the monologuing would be far, far worse) but it resulted in her accidentally stealing the show once more. I tried throwing lines to both Skrall and Baradock, but considering Karie "knew" octavyn better, the little lines I threw out went far beyond others. Battles: Grumble grumble pumpkin bombs. Skrall, really, I don't mind you decimating Doppel. It was my own fault - no need to feel sorry for another person's mistake.

Masson returns the embrace as he passes over the bouquet - it was just as good, if not better, then the last one he got her. "I was going to head home, change into something more formal, and then pick you up at your apartment... Willing to see the Dream Oath with me tonight, Karie?" Slowly, he kisses Karie on the cheek - it was clear he was a lot more awkward in public. "I'll try not to break into your house again, ma cherie." The party hears a clambering behind them; they nearly draw their weapons, still on edge after the night's events, but it is only Octavyn, carrying three blue pouches. Even now, he cannot resist a chance for a wisecrack. "Aww, isn't that precious. Hey, Mr. Boss, if you could peel yourself off my coworker for a second, I could pay the hired hands here. Thanks for all of your help tonight, guys and gal. I definitely couldn't do it alone, that's for damn sure. If you have time one of these nights, drop by the Albatross Inn. I'm the bartender there... I'll probably be able to slip you pint or two, and we can trade stories. Until then, heroes!" Octavyn tosses a pouch to each of the heroes, catching them.
