  1. Masson fails to notice Boomingham's gesture, his face half-buried in a pillow. "Boomingham, can I have the *wheeze* cap? I'll use it as a *cough* pillow." QM Note: I'll move this along when everyone checks in.
  2. "..." Armstrong stands up. "I think now is a good time to draw this meeting to a close. Heroes, your quarters are through the door and on the left. Make yourselves at home as much megablocks you possibly can - the cots aren't exactly comfy. And, Johon? I wasn't alerted of your presence on this quest until we met eachother on the dock, so unfortunately you don't have a cot. You're going to have to make due with a bed roll for the time being." The heroes depart for their room, and after putting down their stuff, set about to explroing the ship... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~Twenty One Days Later...~ Days pass silently, one by one. The heroes adjust to mellow life on a ship, taking to activites such a fishing and tending to the ship. With the help of the Swift Sail it make sit across the seas of Olegaia in record time. Despite the tranquility of the voyage, tension and fear gnaw at the hearts and minds of every hero. Weeks pass, the air surrounding the ship growing bitter and cold as they draw closer and closer to The Regret's residence. The day before arrival, they retire to their quarters, the end of the boat trip in sight... Masson and Punii had already turned into for the night, both half asleep. Two cots were pushed together, Masson laying down on one half of the conjoined bed, and Punii is curled up on a carpet on the floor. "Ohhhh... It's *wheeze* just you... Sorrrryy, I was kinda *yawn* asleep.." "...Hello." Masson mumbles in a half asleep stupor. It was midnight almost, and most of the crew was already asleep as well.
  3. "Boomingham, I never intended to harm anybody... Though I'm sure my words are falling on deaf ears right now, eh?" "Yeah, I'm a Progg... And a really, really *wheeze* puny one. I guess that's why I was named Punii. The lung is usually fine, besides some *cough* wheezing. I've lived with it for most of my life."
  4. Bruce rolls a bottle of brandy across the table towards Boomingham. "I like the way you think, Boomingham. I'd join you, but we have a busy few weeks ahead of us, and hangovers on a rocking ship is like something straight outta hell. Maybe just a little sip for now, eh?" Bruce pulls out his own bottle and begins drinking along with Lawrence. "No, the *wheeze* wheezing is, uh, normal for me. I'm a *cough* runt, I guess, and... I was kind of burn with half a lung. It's not too *wheeze* pleasant. No, the treasure isn't our goal. I don't even know if it's *cough* real. The Regret... He used to be a slave to humans, hundreds of years ago. He... Got in a mining accident one *cough* dead, and he was on the border of starbing. He used some magic he stole from his slavemasters to *wheeze* mutilate his soul, making himself immortal, powerful... *wheeze* But it also drove him mad. He's been consumed by hate now, and he's *wheeze* genocidal. He has this artifact called the Lifespark, I guess. And he wants to *wheeze* devour its power and wipe out humanity. He's insane, Boomingham. He's... I think you've gotten a *wheeze* feeling of what type of monster he is."
  5. I'm sorry, Zepher! If I remember 70 correctly, weekends are your busy time, right? Unfortunately, they're my down time.
  6. "That's a good point, unless someone was intentionally trying to allow passage to the Lonely Island." "Normally I'd love to see such a sport, lad, but we don't really have the facilities, or a way to heal you if things go sour. Can't have the boat burn down." QM Note: I'll let Zepher respond before I move this on.
  7. "Who knows? They're literally living waves. Anything might've done them in." "I'm just glad someone killed them. They kept that part of the sea under lockdown for far, far too long." Masson laughs. "Trust me, ma cherie, the reason I abstain is because drinking stresses me out. Don't worry. I'll enjoy these three weeks as long as you're here, methinks."
  8. "All three of them, a gaping hole clean through their head."
  9. "Some of them. The area around the island itself - The Lonely Island, I believe it's called, hasn't been navigated for a long while. There used to be three sea monsters guarding the waters around it. They were called all sorts of things. Living Waves, Hull Splitters-" "-Ameobosses. I researched them a few months back, after seeing them in the newspaper." "Hm. So I'm guessing you know their fates, then?" "All three died. Their corpses washed up on shores across Olegaia about a month ago." "Right you are! And if the grapevine ain't lyin', people have gotten it into their heads that the island has some sort of huge treasure. People worldwide are heading to that island now to claim the treasure." "Does that strike anyone *wheeze* else as... convenient?"
  10. Masson chuckles. "Dare I ask why you want me to drink, Karie?" He gives his wife a smile.
  11. There is no pirates, so worry not. I'm not so sure why you guys are so eager to end the calm before the strom! That's my job.
  12. The Excelsus has many planks installed for the sole purpose of forcing people off of them.
  13. "We have water and cider, if you're starying from alchohol. Not much else." Armstrong shrugs. "More than I trust you. And that isn't meant to be an attack, simply a statement. I trust me crew - each one of them has been helping this ship for at least six months. I've only "known" you for, what, an hour? But yes, my crew is reliable. Why do you ask?" "Meh, any mention of demons and everyone goes nuts. We'll probably start cannibilizing eachother halfway through, hah hah." Armstrong shoots Bruce a look that says one thing very clearly: His humor was currently not very much appreciated.
  14. Part of the point of Cthulu is that you dont engage him in combat. It has been mentioned in passing before, though, so I'm gonna stop dropping hints.
  15. Day and a half! Also, it'll slow down when we get to the first battle... Which just happens to be a boss. (Not the kind you're thinking of.)
  16. "Fair enough. While we're on the subject of names... My first is Steven. Ever since I got this ship, I've been calling myself Captain Armstrong... I bet half of the people I'm introduced to don't know my first name."
  17. "Em, huh? That short for anything?"
  18. "Grudge, huh? I can't say I know much about him, myself. What'd he do?" Johon pulls out a bottle of some cheap Apple Cider - just good enough to taste decent, but didn't really provide him with any benefits. "Anyone else want anything?" "I'm abstaining, so no thank you..." Bruce laughs, and begins to joke with Masson. "I bet you're fun at parties."
  19. "Thanks. Now, there is plenty of time to talk on the boat, and apparently not a lot of time left to waste, so we oughta get going." The party clops along the dock, eventually reaching Excelsus. They climb upa aldder, ascending it's tall hull, finding themselves on the deck. There, Captain Armstrong begins barking orders to his crew, the deckhands quickly unboxing and unfolding the Swift Sail. The heroes watch as they hoist it up the mast, finally seeing the Sand Queen's gift in it's full glory. "Huh. Sail looks pretty good when it's up, all things considered. Damn shame I have to return it to that Veteran when all is said and done, eh? Untie the ropes, boys, we're sailing out!" In a matter of minutes, the ropes binding Excelsus to the docks are undone, and before long the ship shoves out into sea. The Swift Sail carries the ship at an alarming rate, crusing through the ocean blue with ease. The briny oceanwind passes over the deck as the ship sails out. "Never thought I'd see the day where this vessel went so fast. Magic these days, huh? Either way, heroes, this voyage is gonna be a long while. We're sialing all the way into the coldest reaches of Olegaia, you know, and no amount of magic will make the trip instant. Join me in the galley and we'll talk - the deckhands have things covered topside for a little bit." The party follows Armstrong beneath deck and into the mess hall, a orange hatted man sitting idly. In a stark contrast, a chef frantically runs through his tiny kitchen, trying to prepare as much as he can in as little time as possible. The heroes pull up stools and take a seat at an isolated table, Armstrong sitting down as well. "Now then, some formal introductions. Captain Armstrong, former fisherman, former army man, current Captain hauling you lot across the sea for the next three weeks. Bruce?" "Aye, that's my name. I'm Bruce, first mate here." "And I'm the resident chef here, Chef Perdue. Hope you like seafood, because that's what you usually get on here. I've got some carrot soup going, at least." "Welcomin' guests with soup, Perdue? Ain't that just the definition of bland? Hah! Any of you boys and girls need some liquor? We have some onboard, if ya want it." "Booze aside, who would you folks be? I'm only familiar with Erdathcath. Any questions about your arrangements, or how we're running this vessel, be sure to ask now."
  20. Punii seems to be getting uncomfortable. "Well, uh... Proggs are *wheeze* raw muscle in an armored shell, plus they're probably being buffed up by The Regret's magic, so... They could *cough* probably dislodge both a human's arms and gore them at the same time..." Even Masson seems unnerved. "Karie, what have we gotten ourselves into?" Armstrong speaks up. "Gonna make one thing clear, right now. I'm not going into the Citadel with you. I'm ferrying you halfway across the world and back, heroes. The best I can do when we get to The Remorse's - or whatever the hell is name is - island, the best I can do is guard the ship. Fair? Now, if someone could give me that sail, we can get rolling."
  21. "Well, uh. Only one in fifty Proggs are *wheeze* female. So Proggs have to dig dens for the female, and if the female likes it, they get married... And then they're *wheeze* required by law to attempt to have at least fifty *cough* kids. You know, so we can continue living. The Regret *cough* abducted and brainwashed half of our Colony, so now the *wheeze* number has been bumped up to seventy five children."
  22. Punii tilts his head in confusion. "What's *wheeze* wrong with being a witch? I mean, you're married to the man in *cough* purple, right? It can't be so bad then. And, uh, wow... I didn't realize before today how different *wheeze* human marriage is compared to Progg."
  23. Punii waves his tail back and forth like a hand, apparently a greeting. "My name is *wheeze* Punii! Nice to meet you... You don't need to *cough* worry about that, not even adult Proggs shake hands. I mean, they have them - only larvae have no hands - but adults still don't *wheeze* do it. Different *wheeze* cultures, I guess. So, I'm an Alchemist. What are *cough* you, Karie?"
  24. Masson sighs. "Boomingham. If we keep just pantomiming forever, we're both going to be dead before we even get to The Regret's front door. At one point we're going to start having to use actual communications, instead of just contemptful looks at each other. I bear no ill will towards you, Boomingham, although I'm sure you don't feel the same." Masson then turns to Johon. "Yes, I am... Your name is Johon, correct? I get the feeling we're going to be questing for a while, huh?" The Sand Queen hands Erdathcath the box containing the Swift Sail. "It seems that you have been elected as leader, Erdathcazth. I trust that you'll do well. Be sure to deliver that sail to the good Captain, when you meet him at the docks." "Thank *wheeze* you, Miss Sand Queen!" The Sand Queen lowers herself to stroke Punii's back. "You're very much welcome, little one. Now, I believe it is time for you to depart. And, heroes?" The Sand Queen looks directly at Boomingham as she says this: "Good luck. All of you." With that, the party of eight was off, Punii scurrying close behind them on the pavement. They walk through the bustling city, forging their way to the docks, the fresh morning breeze blowing gently across the city. After navigating a series of raods, the smell of seawater soon greets the heroes... As well as another man, dressed in green. "You're the heroes I've been hired to sail, right? I recognize the tree lady from a month ago. I'm Captain Armstrong." Armstrong points towards the ocean - speicifcally a single boat, bobbing gently on the waves. It was a rather impressive vessel, and a lofty one at that. "That's my pride and joy, the Excelsus. She just recently got a few improvements... I've installed some more firepower in there, in case that Regret bastard has a few aquatic lackies up his sleeve, or any pirates got the wrong idea. Now, who here has that sail? I've been told it's magical? Bah, between these magic sails and the Ji Pei working on "motors" and whatnot, pretty soon sea travel is gonna be trivial." 25. I do have an NPC planned that Boomingham will probably hit it up with not too far away. He likes booze, cigars, and holds a position of authority. Perfect fit.
