  1. I was thinking about swapping the new Legolas hair for Haldir’s. I think the hair in the front fits haldir better than the current Legolas one. Also you will have to share which head you use for arwen, I saw the mantis one floated earlier which is a good cheap option. I find it strange that they didn’t reuse face prints from the original line. I know it’s a cost savings effort to use common faces, but they already had the print files somewhere and maybe even the programming for the machines. It’s too bad they just used generic ones when we already had great ones or the ability to create new ones as options.
  2. I think one of them said in their video that they would have a full review on the 22nd. I do not remember which video said that though.
  3. I think Rivendell is a great set and fairly priced (based on other Lego set prices). It has a few minor issues like Legolas hair, a few prints, but overall looks awesome and is a good way to welcome the theme back. for those frustrated about the price, I think it is fair to say we all would prefer having play sets or diorama sets that are more affordable. While I think big sets like this have their place and make the overall theme better, having lower cost sets with minifigs is something that is needed (just having UCS level sets would be a disappointment for everyone including those who will buy this day one and love the set). I don’t think the price makes the set bad or disappointing, I think it is just disappointing that we do not have lower costs sets rumored or confirmed making Legos strategy disappointing. It would help if there were some leaks about play sets later this year or a few dioramas which there are many opportunities to do within the IP. I do think these will happen eventually and the new weapons, dual molded elf hair, are all signs to me that we could see more sets. If it takes a massive set to get the ball rolling on other ones I am ok with that would just prefer that we had more information on play sets and dioramas now to lesson the blow of just one $500 entry point. ideally we start to see 3-7 play sets and dioramas each year, and one big set for the key locations (Barad dur, edoras, minis tirith, lothlorien, helms deep, and maybe bag end). i keep seeing everyone say they could do minis tirith like this or this for 500, my biggest thought here is why would they cap it at $500? I wouldn’t be surprised to see an $800 price tag on a minis tirith set and Lego has significant precedent with sets that expensive (Star Wars, Eiffel Tower). Just a thought but sticker shock could be an issue for minis tirith down the road, and if people are mad about Rivendell pricing that could be even higher let alone the inflation rates over the next few years. Also worth noting as much as I don’t want a set that expensive it had better look incredible at that cost.
  4. Not arguing. I just don’t understand the comparisons to the castle I have seen (and diagon alley) where there seems to be “more value” in those sets than Rivendell. I am just saying I think they all are valued in scale/detail to each other. Again not arguing, I just don’t understand the comparison unless the answer is “I just don’t care for the IP or the location, therefore I find it to be pricier than these other sets”. Objectively they are all priced the same, (expensive).
  5. Have seen the castle used as a price comparison a few times on here and on YouTube. Just curious as the castle is currently priced at $400 US. With 22 minifigs, 4500 pieces and measures 38 cm H, 44cm W, and 33cm D. Rivendell is 21* minifigs (including statues), 6167 pieces, and measures 39 cm H, 75cm wide, and 50cm deep. I understand the castle has more big pieces but the detail work and look make me question the comparison as one being objectively a good deal and one being overpriced. I am not saying it is cheap (I don’t think either are cheap). i just see this as the castle with an art piece layered on top. The great wave for instance is like 1900 pieces (mostly small) (also a great set). And retails for $100. Rivendell to me is essentially taking the castle and layering an art piece over it to make it look awesome. Again, I think these are both expensive sets (my biggest set that I have purchased is Orthanc back when it came out, and I bought two helms deeps and combined them back in the day) this will be my most expensive set by a wide margin. I just do not get that it doesn’t look like $500 but the castle seems reasonably priced argument, to me they are on the same $ scale when we consider art piece costs and the castle cost together. If someone does not like Rivendell than they don’t like it and would think it’s overpriced, but if you like Rivendell this seems priced in accordance with other large sets (again which all seem expensive).
  6. I am regretting posting this as a GWP fake idea. Never thought it would be sort of true.
  7. where do you see the GWP as the brickheadz? (When we were joking about that a few pages ago I really didn't think it would happen, but I guess bricked gollum is it?) Also the dimensions are on the site as well, pretty significant. Also fifteen Minifigures, plus six Minifigures for statues? 21 total is pretty nice.
  8. lego.com says 3/5 for early access orders.
  9. I have a spare Haldir from Helm's deep, I might just swap their (new Legolas) hair out. I think the new hair would fit that character better anyway.
  10. I also see a mithril shirt, plus the new prints look excellent. I really don't think Lego could have done this any better. The scenes inside, the minifigs look great, the new weapons (and Boromir shield) look excellent. I already knew this was day one, but wow they knocked it out of the park.
  11. The Narsil mould looks sweet, as do the new axes. looks like there are a few new ones.
  12. It was the leaked photo, looks awesome, and more minifigs than I expected
  13. Well, I suppose I get one more night to hope they do a LOTR gwp for Rivendell :). I figure we will know for sure tomorrow when the do the official announcement.
  14. Wasn’t the moving truck specific to the modular (pizza jazz club)?
  15. A Nazgûl on a horse with a brick built wave would be pretty awesome
  16. Has anyone read the instagram comments lego has responded with to their teaser? It is good stuff. I don’t know what you’re Tolkien about” “tomorrow will be precious”. I think there are some more but good stuff from Lego on the responses.
  17. Excellent! It’s actually like the Rivendell scene :)
  18. Do you think the bridges are just cut off in the shot? Looks like none of the lower section shows up in the new picture? The trees around the gazebo look to be missing which is too bad if true
  19. See above, reflection flips the image and the round ring distorts it. It looks the same. however, and per @Balrogofmorgoth It looks like the trees and waterfall changed, let’s home we get as many minifigs as the original.
  20. It’s the same, the ring distorts the image. Think of it like a funhouse mirror. It looks like the same though if you flip the image and take away the distortion from the ring being round. it also gives us a better look at the council area which looks great
  21. Fair enough, was just curious what others thought about it (other definitions than my own). My own definition is probably different than others. For example, I would say I own all of the lord of the rings Lego’s. The reality is that I do not own all of the hobbit sets (most of them just not all of them). I also do not own promo stuff (like the comic con giveaways) or the brick built sword. I do count the brickheadz as lord of the rings because it is something that can be purchased in the lord of the rings theme on Lego (hobbit was a different theme in the store which is where I make the distinction). Just curious what other definitions are out there. Agreed
  22. For LOTR collectors, does owning the brickheadz matter for a complete collection? I say yes but am not sure what others think. Also do hobbit sets count toward that, or is it separate from the LOTR lego? So do the hobbit sets count to be considered owning all of the LOTR sets? Just curious what counts as a complete set.
  23. Thanks, good information here. Definitely a mixed for icons. Hopefully the march gwp is good if we don’t get a dedicated one.
  24. What other sets of this size/price have not had a specific gwp? I am just curious as I don’t really know the icons line, and Orthanc is my biggest Lego set I have ever purchased (so nothing this size or scale). My only reference for sets this big are the Eiffel Tower and Star Wars UCS which I think had them, but I could be mistaken. Just curious.
