Deadball... Well, now we pretty much have confirmation that the helicarrier set is indeed just interior and does not include Banner. I gotta agree with FBTB and Neville about the Nick Fury question. He will most likely be in one of the bigger sets whereas the Cap set will come with some kind of enemy. I mean, otherwise the Avenging Cycle wont have anything to, well, avenge.

I must say, the monsters are a disappointment. I'm not a big fan of the Werewolf. It just looks like a guy in a furry costume to me, even more so than the Studios one, due to the big head, and the Wolverine claws don't really suit him. Dracula looks just like the CMF one, but with a different expression. Frank looks pretty good in lime green, but seriously, paper clips safety pins in his forehead? That's even worse than the band-aids! Why can't it just be regular scars with stitches? But I love the hunters! They look so steampunk-ish! The new cyborg leg is pretty neat and will go well with the cyborg arm. Like others, I just hope it's reversible. Looking forward to more pics of the sets.

If you ask me, it is. As I said before, I probably wouldn't bother watching it if it wasn't Lego. But then again, I have only seen about four episodes, so don't take my word for it.

Please don't get me wrong; there's certainly nothing wrong with doing a "casual review", and I never meant to imply that you aren't "doing it right." All I meant was that it's not as good as it could be, but if you're not interested in improving yourself, that's totally fine. And it's not that I don't appreciate your review, in the contrary! That's why I blogged it after all. You're right, I don't. And you're also right that Lego sets should never be taken that seriously, except maybe UCS sets. Those nerdy reviews shouldn't discourage you to strive for a bit more professionalism in your Lego reviews. Heck, we in the academy don't even grade on the content; all we ask is that you don't let the pictures speak for themselves. I suggest to give it a try, but again, if you're not interested, that's cool.

Hehe. Very nice, Tereglith Luthor! The lack of knees was a pretty big flaw, as were the asymmetrical arms, but you solved it quite elegantly. Perhaps your next modification could be to make your cockpit airtight so that you don't get frozen when the Man of Steel breaths on it. And yes, Superman is a jerk.
-
What is that supposed to mean? There's nothing nerdy about being professional. I'm just saying if you want to do something, you may as well do it right.

Nice sculpture! it looks really cute. I especially love those little posable hands, and the light-up feature is great too of course!

Thanks for the review. Your photography and textural content really could use some work though, so I encourage you to join the Reviewers Academy. Really? There are many smaller sets than this that have an equal or larger amount of figs, especially in this wave, and I wouldn't consider this to be a small set, so four figs is actually almost disappointing for $55, but since at least half of them are exclusive and three of them are extras, that's OK I guess.

The same thing I think about the assumption that building with Lego is kids stuff: It's an art form, and art should be able to be appreciated and created by anybody of any age or gender. I don't think this should be discussed in this thread though.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Oky replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
As much as I'm against the resurection of Maul, this does sound pretty good. I kinda wish Windu would duel Maul though. Oh well. Ugh! We're back to this discussion again? -
The HP Troll was just badly done. That ugly chest, the immobile left arm, the lack of printing... Plus the clothes kept sliding off during play, and the head just looked so ugly and small. The latter was probably intended, but still. Therefore, I'd have to vote for the Fantasy troll. And yes, it will be interesting to compare the final design of the LOTR troll with these. By the way, you're a vassal, so you can't make polls, but you can always ask a mod to add one for you.

Pretty good start, but although I know the mirror's storage room was empty, this feels just a bit too empty for me. For example, in order to give the walls some texture, you could throw in a few darker colored bricks. A portrait or Hogwarts flag or two would be nice too. A discarded chair or a suit of armor would fill out the room nicely too, but that might be too much. Also, I don't like how the round collumns go into square holes in the ground. I would fill those holes with plates. Other than that, nice work!

Yeah, the episode was pretty good. I was put off by the Derpy sequence at first since I never imagined her to be so... slapsticky, but I'm getting used to it now. The best part was Fluttershy's line at the end. Damn, she can't even be cheesy without being adorable! Yeah, although they were kinda doing that before with easter eggs like Nyan Dash. I just hope they wont overdo it with the fan service. But now we know why Derpy wasn't in the last few episodes; because they were preparing her for her big canon appearance. Oh well, there's always Applebuck Season, I guess.

Interesting, thanks. I'm guessing the cosmic cube will be represented in the form of Loki's scepter with a trans-blue piece on it, kinda like the snake staffs from Ninjago.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Oky replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I have a question: How long does Lego provide replacement parts for sets? For example, I lost one of those dark gray Belville flower pot pieces from my UCS X-Wing, and that piece hasn't been in production since then. Would they provide replacement for that today? What about more common pieces? -
Wow, thanks for sharing those pictures! There are some great MOCs there! I wish I could be there.
-
Thanks for sharing those. That lightsaber issue is indeed pretty funny. While looking at those videos, I noticed the following ads in the related videos sidebar. I have never seen TV commercials for promos before, but then again, I don't live in the UK where newspapers periodically throw free Lego at you.
-
Why didn't you tell us that you updated your MOC? It's very good! The floor, the back wall, and the board where Sirius' face used to be look much better now! Not sure if I like the trophy cabinet, but it's probably better than the random tiles that were there before. Maybe it would look better without the cabinet and only with the shield on the table along with some other trophies? Anyway, this is a great first MOC now!

I'm a bit surprised I didn't get the Most Retarded Noob award, but considering that I managed not to get myself killed, I guess there must be noobs worse than me. Congrats to all the winners! Enjoy your imaginary trophies!

Yeah, if you want to use all of them at once, I think that making a scene based on the Spider Wars story arc would be best. Unless you want to make up your own story about Spider-Man getting cloned/holographically duplicated. If you want to make something with just one of them... Well, that depends on which villains you can acquire or make out of your own minifigs. For example, I have seen the Series 5 Lizard used effectively as Spidey's foe The Lizard. Or you can just show him chasing down random crooks of course. Nice pictures by the way. They'd do nicely in the Photography thread. Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just wait for the upcoming Spider-Man set? It comes with Doc Ock, so you could still get it to use him for your MOCs, but that would mean you'd get yet another Spidey too.

If you don't have enough plates for the floor, use bricks. If you don't have enough of those either, you could mix light and dark gray bricks to give the look of a textured stone floor. You could even try to make a SNOT floor, but that might prove to be more difficult. And you have the big Hogwarts set from 2010, right? That one came with portrait stickers, so you could use those on the wall. Another idea would be to hang the big Gryffindor and Slytherin flags on the wall. As for the table, perhaps instead of the cherries, you could put some feathers there, if you have any, either as quilts or as the feathers they used for practicing the levitation spell in their first year. Another option would be a wizard hat. Or maybe some mail? That would be just as random as the newspaper though. Two more things I noticed: The ladder doesn't seem to be an official Lego piece. Don't you have any Lego ladders? And the rules for the community build say to not mix yellow and fleshie minifigs. Try to choose one skin tone and stick with it. Hope this helped.

Not bad for a first MOC! Looks very accurate and kinda reminds me of the videogame (even though that one was based on the movie). I do have a few suggestions though: I don't like the green floor at all. It looks unfinished, and if you have enough brown, gray, or tan plates or tiles, I would cover it with those. The red bricks in the back look out of place. If you can, I would replace those with brown ones. Some of the displayed tiles are a bit too random for my taste. For example, why are the Marauders Map and Daily Prophet on display in a classroom, and why is Sirius' burning face appearing on a black board? If you have any other printed or stickered tiles, I would us those.

What contest?
-
What? One dollar per piece?! That's gotta be the most horrible price-piece ratio ever! Well, thanks anyway.
-
Cool. Can you tell us what pieces it includes?
