  1. Wow! I loved the summary of the story with all the pictures, it was executed perfectly.
  2. Sorry, should have done my homework and checked bricklink. I guess I never noticed it, it's been around since 2021.
  3. The Summer Joust is an annual Lego castle competition. It ended a month ago, but it is a ton of fun and I recommend checking it out next summer. https://www.flickr.com/groups/14827660@N23/pp It's winter counterparts-ish Brickscalibur and CCC are coming up, and are also a ton of fun! https://brickscalibur.com/ http://www.classic-castle.com/
  4. The new viking village has some amazing recolors! Nougat barrel, nougat grilles (for straw), white stems, white ferns, and a few other gold and brown parts used for architectural details. Along with a smorgasbord of tasty printed parts as well!
  5. What a fun build and story. It turned out very cohesive and vibrant. Congrats on the summer joust win!
  6. How did you make their helmets? I imagine if Lego did make custom helmet moulds for them they would be useful for custom knights and orcs.
  7. I can think of a bunch of amazing and useful variety of almost all the fellowship. Orc Frodo+Sam, Rohan Merry, Gondor Pippin (hobbits would include new color dual molded hobbit legs, such as black,.gunmetal grey, d. tan), Updated ranger Aragon (dual molded arms/legs, printed bracer, cloak) or King Elessar, Gondorian armor Boromir (with printed chest plate and torso; this + Pippin and potentially Elessar would allow for 3 or 4 Gondorian soldier variants), Updated Gandalf the white, Helms Deep armor Legolas (with accurate knife molds, dual molding). Only one I can't think of something for is Gimli. The last 3 slots could be filled with characters like Faramir, Eowyn (with a nice dress, leaving durnhelm for a pelennor fields diorama) and then maybe Denethor, Tom Bombadil, updated Galadriel, Butterbur... Or even Gothmog πŸ˜… Of course this is 100% wishful thinking and wouldn't meet Legos' gender equality standards or marketability. But fun to imagine nontheless
  8. Thanks for the kind words guys, I had a fun time building the characters and scene. It's fun to see how many people are nostalgic for the Robin Hood movie. I rewatched the movie while planning the moc. Hopefully you can tell which two scenes it is based on πŸ˜‚ I had too; it was the perfect opportunity. Just following in the footsteps of official Lego designers. Sir hiss is made with the Nagini snake from Harry Potter CMF 1, a 90s plastic cape, new style red flower, and white forestmen feather. Not sure which piece you were referring to. Sorry for the delay with responding, I've been on vacation.
  9. Sorry I misunderstood which helmet they were talking about, I thought it was referring to the flip visor helmet.
  10. Either way it's a win, both work great for black falcons and haven't been around for a while.
  11. Prince John Sits inside his lonely castle with everything he could possibly want. Money, Power, Land, Loyal Servants. But he is unsatisfied, craving only the death of the bandit Robin Hood. Meanwhile Robin Hood is enjoying a party with all his friends. He is an outlaw who owns nothing but the clothes on his back and his trusty bow. He gives away all the money he ever gets. And today he is happy, dancing with his one true love Maid Marion while all his friends dance play and sing around him. My goodness this took forever to edit. Stupid Leaves. Built for the "Light & Shadow" Category for the 2023 Summer Joust. Hopefully this is the right forum, it could also belong in licensed themes, but I figured it was a better fit here. I did enter it in the Summer Joust after all.
  12. If you look carefully at the armor piece, they left most of the futuristic printing on the torso, and left the armor without anything mechanical
  13. Shaddowfax! Show us the meaning of haste.
  14. I really want to get the missing goat sign from Ninjago city, would be awesome in a medieval moc.
  15. The new Lego Friends botanical garden would work great as an expansion/ parts pack for Rivendell. It's colors match perfectly and it has similar elegant architecture and level of detail
  16. New small palm leaves and banana mold with the donkey Kong set, could be useful. (Moreso for pirates, but πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ)
  17. 2, 26, 15 Love the detailing and composition. #2 is my favorite, it has lots of detail but feels more clean and elegant than many of the others. #26 has amazing greebling and details, looks balanced and fits the character. #15 perfectly captures the pirate cabin, and I like the references to pirate life Honorable mentions to #4 and #25
  18. I personally want something a bit smaller with future Lord of the Rings sets. A $100 - $150 Bag End would be plenty big and much more affordable/accessible. I don't have room or money for a massive set like all of you are imagining, and I imagine many others feel the same way.
  19. Does anyone have experience with Lego replacing broken bricks? (brittle brown) Can you just ask customer service?
  20. Rolli grass now on pick a brick. https://www.lego.com/en-us/pick-and-build/pick-a-brick?query=6299665&page=1&perPage=20&includeOutOfStock=true
  21. Awesome build, definitely one of the best castles in the program. I love the snow, the pallette, and the slanted wall, it's very inspiring. Best of luck!
  22. I figured there should be a thread to discuss the historic themes related BDP1 sets. What do you think are the best, most interesting, or most useful sets? What are your favorites? My favorites are Brickwood castle, which I was somewhat involved in, The Ocean House, and the Mountain Fortress. They seem of the highest quality and level of detail, along with looking amazing! https://www.bricklink.com/r3/designer-program/series-1/26/Brickwood-Castle https://www.bricklink.com/r3/designer-program/series-1/166/The-Ocean-House https://www.bricklink.com/r3/designer-program/series-1/482/Mountain-Fortress
  23. I remember doing it with CMF 7 and other figs at Legoland in like 2012. πŸ˜‚ Same 😒 I really want one or two of the vikings from that series for my rohirrim and medieval mocs, but missed them because of COVID. Now they're over $20 on bricklink, so I'll probably never get one☹️
  24. Especially if bara dur comes out, you need it's sister tower! It was a fun project, hard work and high cost but worth it in the end. It was a great builds and bigger than I expected.
  25. It's taken like two years, as I've worked on it very sporadically. I collected as many pieces as I could from my own collection, marking off what I had and needed and what quantities. I dug through used Lego bins, made a pick a brick order, and 2 or 3 bricklink orders. My most recent order was imported from Canada to get the sticker sheet for cheaper and some key missing parts. I had the Minifigures already, except for Sarumons dress and Wormtongue who I cobbled together with snape and palatine parts. I didn't build treebeard as I think his design in this set is ugly. It ended up about $150-175, I'm not really sure.
