I made a tutorial for my realistic pine tree design Check it out on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/C_lbB6dPRtO/?img_index=1 Or Flickr:

I agree, something around the size of the medieval blacksmith would be perfect, so $160-$200. I'm a massive LOTR fan but don't have the budget for more massive sets beyond Rivendell, I hope they don't make things large for the sake of large when they could be sets $80-$200 instead

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

The new deku tree set finally recolored the heart tile in green. Hopefully we get it unprinted soon since it is a fantastic part for smaller scale leaves. -

True, but we've already seen the red and silver color palate a number of times, including the white falcons, cmf fright knights, and kingdoms lion knights. I voted krakens mostly because they're blue tone color palate is so unique compared to anything we've seen before. -
I have to say this is a major overstatement/generalization of the LAN community. Some of the first LAN sponsored sites/blogs I go to, such as Brickset, Jay's Brick Blog, or New Elementary all have reviewers that are experts or do lots of research on the IP of the sets, including LOTR, and give very in depth and detailed reviews on all different aspects of the set. Perhaps the issues are much worse on Youtube compared to Blogs, but I find it hard to believe that all or a majority of creators are greedy/Lazy with their set reviews, or that the average LAN creator is much worse than the average normal Lego creator.

I'm a massive LOTR fan and I feel the same. This is a decent set, but is nowhere near the quality of Rivendell or the accessibility of the OG sets.

I'm glad the fell beast is so mediocre, I won't feel sad missing out on it

I Parted together Orthanc last year (no grima or sarumon dress) with my own parts, PAB, Bricklink, and used Lego stores for somewhere around $170. I replaced a few parts and had to make a Bricklink order from Canada to get the stickers and a few rarer parts, and didn't build treebeard. It now it stands in my room looking very nice. I highly recommend parting it together if you don't care about perfect accuracy, it's a very fun set

Nice, it's kind of a more modern version of my castle fellowship. All of them are definitely recognizance. https://flic.kr/p/2opByVJ

[Contest] Space Pirates - Back to the Carribean Galaxy!
JimBaggins replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks to the organizers and congrats to the winners! I had fun participating in the contest and seeing all the fun builds people came up with Although I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the voting system, it feels more subjective than having a panel of judges. I felt like I finally produced a build with good enough building techniques and presentation to do well in a contest with my 'rustbucket', but it's less traditional/'pirate-y' style led it to getting less votes from some people. Although maybe I'm reading too much into it -
I made a build breakdown and behind the scenes post on my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/C4RHPUZy9M8/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Thanks for the kind words! Only the one side is built, with the back open. Hopefully I can share some behind the scenes pictures sometime in the next few days.

Here's my build for Category C, a flying tugboat: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/197841-spc-cat-c-the-rustbucket/ -
Captain Fishbone wept as he flew over the once prosperous Caribbean seas. His crew had abandoned him, leaving him with nothing but one ship, his modified flying tugboat called the Rustbucket. My entry to the Eurobricks Space Pirates Contest 'Rum for everybody!' category The Ship is based on Bdubs' fantastic flying tugboat Minecraft build in his Building with Bdoubleo series. https://flic.kr/p/2pB76a5

[Contest] Space Pirates - Back to the Carribean Galaxy!

I'm working on a steampunk flying tugboat, would that style fit within the parameters of the contest, or is it strictly space style sci Fi pirates?
