  1. What if by 'Animals', they meant something like Fabuland? Just a thought. Since I apparently did not get an e-mail asking me to vote despite all the e-mails I get asking me to buy things I'll just vote here unofficially. Exo-Force just got discontinued and I would think Robots would be too much like that. Wild West was done before and while it didn't get nearly the variety of sets it should have, I imagine it still wouldn't. So, simply because I don't know what it means, I'd go with 'Animals' and hope it isn't like those Dinosaur sets that were pretty awful. -Tohst
  2. If they threw us a curve and gave us classic-space suits in bley....I'd still buy them -Tohst....I'm a sucker for those torsos
  3. So, back in the day, I used to take trips all over visiting friends. (Back in the day because I have no friends anymore. Its sad.) I'd always be looking for Lego sales and many times would find something on clearance in an out of the way K-Mart or something. I'd end up keeping it in my car and after a night out, when whatever group I was with was at some all night diner or Denny's at 3 or 4am, thats when I would bust out my cheap Lego and build there in the diner. So, I'd say Pekin, IL (just outside loverly Peoria), 4am, some greasy spoon diner. -Tohst
  4. First reaction: ooooh, minty new red space suit Second reaction: wait, volume 1 is 1 space guy and then 4 town guys. So 2 will be 1 space guy (white suit) and 4 castle guys. Volume 3 will be 1 space guy (yellow suit) and 4 pirate guys. I'll have to spend an awful lot of money and get a bunch of guys I don't really want to get any sort of numbers of the cool space suits. Arggghhh. Of course if volume 2 ends up being Space: 1 white-suited classic, 1 Blacktron, 1 Yellow (or Blue) Futuron, 1 Space police II, and 1 Insectoid I'll eat my words happily as Lego eats my paycheck. -Tohst
  5. I could use many many more Harry Potter sets, myself. Honestly, HP sets did have a lot on clearance but they didn't hold a candle to what I saw from SW: Episode 1 sets. I mean Episode II sets got clearanced all over the place as well, but EP I, everyone had crazy amounts of stock. I think I still have a bunch of unopened pod racer sets I got for 75% off. One day I'll need an extra orange piece or Subulba and I'll be all set. I think Episode III was out and I was still seeing Droid Fighters for 3 for $10 at Kay-Bee -Tohst
  6. I still kick myself for not buying a couple of the Galidor sets when they were super clearanced. But, I still think Speed Racer has a ways to go before it hits that level of suckitude. I mean, even if the movie bombs and Speed Racer gets the stink of Ishtar, the sets are well done and have good pieces and minifigs. They will sell. They just won't sell as well as if they represented something seen in a huge blockbuster. Galidor had crap pieces. I have a Nick figure I got free. I think thats the name. There is nothing I can use him for. Well, maybe a Zentraedi to a mini-fig sized Veritech but in terms of normal Lego building, there was nothing in those sets to make a non-Galidor fan want them. So, why do I kick myself? Because I think a set or two had an interesting piece or two and at 3 bucks it would've been worth it. If any of the Speed Racer sets hit 3 bucks, it will be a race to see who buys them all first. -Tohst
  7. The movie was great. The worst part was Shia's introduction. You get to be part of an amazing francise with this movie and immortalized in Lego, can you at least pretend some excitement? Especially since pretending is your job. -Tohst
  8. This one really looks like it was designed to be either exo-force or MM, depending what the retailer was more interested in. Since it is now EX-oforce, Mars Mission it is. -Tohst
  9. I voted for svelte_corps. I really like the way the waterfall looks and the surprise baddie inside. And thanks to whoever voted for me. Please find 20 like-minded people and I'll win this thing! -Tohst
  10. Elven Woods set: Tricksy Elves Can Hide In Nasty Woods. A little slice of life from the viewpoint of the trolls and why they fear even a pieceful looking stump. I really liked the thought of a brickbuilt version of the stump that was in the wild west sets for people to hide in. I hope you like it too. -Tohst
  11. For those of us in America, this is the same thing they are opening in Shaumberg, IL. I think its meant to be open in the fall. Oh yeah, and there is always Legoland in CA. Lego takes care of us well...and takes all our money. -Tohst
  12. I said 'mata' green as well. My issue with the poll is its not one color I want back, its I want something other than the dark colors over and over again. So, any Toas with any of these colors would be appreciated. Oh, and enough with the protodermus everything! I've been on this particular soapbox before ;-) -Tohst
  13. That is great. All the details from the reeds to the mushrooms to the interior. What's the piece that makes the waterfall? I really like the idea that Fabuland characters retain some of the animal behaviors. Thus, Charlie Crow would have a nest house and Clive Crocodile would eat everyone. -Tohst
  14. I always suspected R2 was a cannibal. Nice work. -Tohst
  15. I like this. The shape is so much better than the official set. Maybe a 3/4 view from the front like you have from the back would better show off the changes you made. I can easily visualize little lego dementors descending upon this. -Tohst
  16. Yes! Now if I could only win the lottery I'd have the time to work on them in a timely fashion. By the time I finish the next one the 8th movie will have come and gone. I'd really like to do the entrance to Hogwart's with steps leading up to the great hall. And maybe some landscaping and...and...and...okay, so I need the lottery to afford the pieces too. And thanks because people looking forward to more work by me and it encouraging them is probably the nicest feedback I could get. I completely agree and I agonized over whether to include it or not. But I couldn't help but picture a little wizard in that tower working on something (well something small) that was so dangerous he didn't want to put the rest of the castle at risk. The mental image of just that pit of the tower blowing up or melting or being covered in plants or dissapearing was too much for me to pass up. Plus the engineer in me liked the challenge of getting it to stick out like that without (too much) droop. Thanks! Be sure to read the photo titles on those three pictures. The (lack of) humor is the best part. Again, thanks for the comments. They are always appreciated. I'm hoping to have time this week and next to furnish it so I'll let you know when those pictures are up. -Tohst
  17. Very nice. It has a real no nonsense institutional feel to a lot of it as a courthouse should. But with the awesome gargoyles just enough differentiation not to be boring. I like it a lot. I might have the gargoyles sit on non-white pieces to really make them 'pop' and break up the all whiteness a little bit without sacrificing the overall effect. -Tohst
  18. Wow, those train tracks really provide a wonderful shape. And is there a train fan out there that doesn't have extra curved rails? I mean really. Maybe without the rails, the whole thing would only cost 750 euros. A bargin! I know when I build with physcial bricks, I do a lot of fiddling to make things fit or look right. Do you do the same thing with LDD? If so, how? -Tohst
  19. Thanks for the kind words. The roof went through 3 major rebuilds and looks very different from my original thought. On close inspection there are still imperfections (such as the occasional white or other color peeking through) but there comes a time when I just couldn't pull it all apart again. -Tohst
  20. I really like the waterfall. Great work overall. And Snakes do just sit around for long periods of time. Silly reptiles. -Tohst
  21. The white and blue looks really good. I may like it better than the real color scheme. Plus, the control sticks rock! -Tohst
  22. I think I hear the horse saying that its not dead yet and doesn't want to go on the cart. It might even be feeling better. -Tohst
  23. I finished major construction on the outside of my tower. http://www.flickr.com/photos/14802561@N05/...57602353726691/ Please take a look. Feedback, questions, or comments are always welcome. Next thing in the tower project is to furnish the interior a bit. Thanks, -Tohst and really my next MOC will be castle (for the Elves contest if nothing else) ETA a picture
  24. You could also ask: Should Duplo go? I mean I liked it when I was 4 but now it just seems babyish Should Star Wars go? Its been running for a decade! Lego, stop beating that poor horse! Should the 2 x 4 brick go? I have enough of them and if I don't care for or need something, who cares if it makes money for Lego. Needless to say I voted no. I'm been critical of the designs of late but...money for lego -> Lego stays in business -> Good for people who like Lego. Once it stops making money it will go the way of Exo-Force or Pirates or any of a number of themes that some liked, some didn't that ran their course. -Tohst
  25. I put them in dresses and hold tea parties. Tahu gets really upset at being addressed as Polly Prissypants -Tohst
