  1. If I had a nickel for every time one of my entries featured a semicircle, a computer bank, and a hidden minikit, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice. Sadly, I couldn't fit the actual vault door, so it's just the housing for the door. On the left side, half of the doorway is cut off, too. It's kind of hard to tell because most of the build uses snot a lot (Hey that rhymes!), but the moc is exactly 12x12 at its largest point. The back area doesn't have as much as last time, as I thought it wouldn't fit with the sleekness of the data vault in the movie. Here's the link to the model on mecabricks: https://www.mecabricks.com/en/models/WRaZrAmZapZ
  2. Thanks! Sizing this was a pain (it actually is outside the 12x12 bounds but because the base is cut off MkJoshA said it was fine) and I'm glad it turned out well in the end! I look forward to seeing your vignette!
  3. UPDATE: 24246 does not, in fact, appear in DBG. So I replaced it. The Profundity is Admiral Raddus's flagship, which he uses in the battle of Scarif. So at this point you're probably wondering why I used brickbuilt heads, and that's because mecabricks and stud.io both don't have mon calamari heads. If I had the pieces to build this in real life, Raddus would have his head, and the two officers behind him would have used the mon calamari head that came in the resistance transport from 2020. This shot gives a better look at the ceiling. This is Admiral Raddus's chair. This whole moc started because I wanted to make the chair, and it was pretty interesting to build! Lastly, here's a shot from the back. If you want to see more angles, you can view the mecabricks link below (no download required): https://www.mecabricks.com/en/models/LyjWGG8GjJr I hope you liked this moc!
  4. This one's good I swear: You can't see it too clearly, but I put a red axle inside the superlaser beam. Here's the view without the laser or the personnel. I didn't make a formal stand, it's just the floor. The superlaser chamber has some greebling on it. And on the back, I included some random pipes, and just for fun, a catwalk with a minikit on it. You can also see more clearly how I made the door frame. Originally I wanted to include the full firing chamber, but that didn't pan out because of the 12x12 space. So, I had to cut off half of the cylinder, which I actually came to like because it exposed the greebling inside more clearly. The doorway was a nightmare to construct because I needed it to be as thin as possible to make room for the computer bank. If you want to see more details or techniques on how this was made, you can check out the Mecabricks link here (you don't need to download anything, just click on the link): https://www.mecabricks.com/en/models/oK2wmmxDv9k Lastly, here's the main reference shot:
  5. Dang you beat me to it, I'll probably look into that
  6. So how much overhang is too much overhang? Like, if my vignette is 12.4x12 studs (12 studs plus the height of one plate), that wouldn't be too much would it?
  7. Thanks! Unfortunately, the alphabet tiles must stay, because they're the only complete alphabet in Mecabricks, which is the website I'm using. I'm considering switching to stud.io, but I like the convenience of being able to share the design as a url without having to have people download stl files. correction: Mecabricks doesn't have mon calamari heads, so stud.io it is!
  8. These new variants look great! I like the color changes for the Hunter craft. Some other ideas that you could use for the back is add a rear gunner post (although you'd have to take out one of the pilots if you want it as a valid entry), an escape pod, or a functioning bombing mechanism.
  9. Something I didn't like about my other vignette base was that you couldn't really read the text unless it was at eye level, so I made this stand. It uses a click hinge (3937 and 3938) attached to a jumper plate to get it almost flush with the slope brick (3045). As for the vignette, I think it's kind of funny that for the official minifigure, Chirrut's staff is like twice as tall as him, but in universe it's actually shorter than he is. Unfortunately, Mecabricks doesn't have Chirrut's kama, but it did have this pauldron that I ended up putting on him. I couldn't really find much source material on what the master switch looked like except for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzKElcLGTBc You don't even want to know how many times I had to watch it to get a good idea of what the scene looked like.
  10. This scene is from the start of the movie, when Krennic abducts Galen Erso, kills his wife in front of Galen, and almost kills Jyn, except she was rescued by an extremist. Thats... actually pretty dark for a star wars movie. I improved the stand so that it looks more elegant, the indented layer is 9x9 and the base is 11x11, which gave me more room to work with. The moisture vaporator in the scene is different from the one on Tatooine, it has a larger section near the top and doesn't have a control box. I used the aeroblade handles from Ninjago to attach the bars. Lego hasn't made a 3x3 circular plate or brick yet, so I used a rapid shooter in the middle for the bigger section. here's a link to a picture of the moisture vaporator I copied, it doesn't fit within the size limits so I couldn't put the image directly here: https://www.google.com/search?q=moisture vaporator lah'mu&tbm=isch&tbs=isz:m&hl=en-US&sa=X&ved=0CAMQpwVqFwoTCNCxuoOliPgCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAC&biw=1185&bih=506#imgrc=wllrx2ljNeP0HM
  11. Here's another Rogue One vignette for you all! I used roller skates for the AT-ACT's ankle joints, which I think turned out pretty well. I tried to make it look like some of the feet were submerged and that turned out... less well. I think the explosion with the red chi crystal and the orange geode isn't mine, but I forget where exactly I got it from. It's kind of hard to see, but there's a layer of trans clear tiles on the water. I couldn't find the exact moment I depicted, but here's a picture of the scene:
  12. [EXCERPT FROM SIENAR EXPO, 5 BBY] Our team at Sienar Fleet Systems are proud to present the newest addition to our renowned TIE line: The Tie Kraken. The Tie Kraken is a long range craft, equipped with a hyperdrive and additional heavy laser cannons. Additional solar collectors can be folded out from the craft to collect more energy during flights, and fold in during combat to decrease the silhouette of the ship. For the safety of the hyperd- uh, pilot, the Tie Kraken has a shielding system to absorb shots. Oh man, I'm completely out of my league here. Anyway, I wanted to make this the Tie Raiju, which would look like an "R", but then it looked too much like my other entry, the Tie Jaculus. So I slapped another wing on and called it a day. (Ok, it didn't happen exactly like that but... it's pretty close) This ship mainly incorporates designs from the Tie Aggressor, Tie advanced V1, and the Fury class interceptor. Do you like the Tie Kraken more than the Tie Jaculus? Here's some more shots: Here are the wings in the closed position... And in the opened position. Here's the back view Lastly, the top view...ish? The wings are closed, but even if they are open, the ship still resembles a "K" because of the rear winglets, which can be seen more closely on the back shot.
  13. This looks great! I like the way you did the wings, especially the undersides with the missiles
  14. Padme's heart sank as the Nexu clambered back up to it's feet. She was tiring, she knew, and was running out of tricks to keep the creature at bay. As she stared death in it's four red eyes, Padme hoped for a miracle. People seem to like to make Acklay and Reek mocs more than the Nexu. I tlike to think that's because Nexu are supremely ugly. See, the Acklay looks menacing, the Reek looks vicious, and the Nexu looks like it took a hammer to the face. Anyway, here's some more shots: Complete anatomical accuracy!
  15. Several billions of credits worth of Imperial research has revealed that star fighters resembling letters have a 50% chance increase in survivability during combat! Interestingly, all canon tie fighters are practically symmetrical, and if I recall correctly, almost all legends ones are, too. Good luck on your T wing!
  16. Wow, what a clean build! I love the way you did the hallway lights
  17. The whine of the engines powering down fills the pilot's ears as he gazes at the craft in awe. The Director strides out across the tarmac to greet him. A moment passes. "Well?" The Director barks. He is impatient, overeager to hear about the fruit of his labors. At last, the pilot turns to him, his lips twisting in a vacant smile, his eyes hundreds of miles away. "Handles like a dream." [TRANSMISSION START] The Tie Jaculus is a light bomber whose design was overseen by Director Krennic. What makes this ship unique is its payload: The Tie Jaculus holds eight missiles only known by their codename, Starlight. When Starlight missiles detonate, a massive green explosion obliterates nearly everything in a perfect circle a hundred meters long. Some materials such as Beskar are able to survive the blast. Due to the high cost of Starlight missiles, the Empire opted to use the much cheaper Tie Bomber. Because of this, only one Tie Jaculus was ever manufactured, docked at the Citadel on Scarif. There, the blueprints, as well as the ship itself, were destroyed by the Death Star during the Battle of Scarif. [TRANSMISSION END] What makes a ship a Star Wars ship? If I made a ship that looks like a Star Wars ship but is colored grey and blue with yellow and black stripes, is it Star Wars or Classic Space? Rather than ponder such mysteries, I simplified the question to "What makes a Tie Fighter a Tie Fighter?" This was much easier: Generally, Tie fighters have vertical black wings with grey outlines, a spherical grey cockpit, and horizontal spars to connect the wings to the cockpit. As the name sort of suggests, this ship is meant to resemble the lowercase "j". I modified the cockpit from 75300 to make it more centered. On the original model the 2x2 angled bricks weren't centered in the middle, which irked me. It probably wasn't a good idea to rush this build (after all we still have several weeks left), but I hope you all like it! The ship looks like a "j" from the top. I put gold 1x1 circular tiles to suggest more missiles inside the body. Some greebles on top of the bomb compartment. Some other views.
  18. Here's my entry for the 12x12 vignette contest. Posing the arms was tough! *Cries in no tan cheese slopes* Some more shots: And this is the shot it was based on:
  19. Is it possible for the Obi wan vs Vader set to be from episode IV and not Kenobi? It could be a quotes set at 50€.
  20. The greebling under the grate looks awesome!
  21. Hi, kind of a dumb question but can I use paper to make capes that exist in lego form but I don't own?
  22. Thanks! That really means a lot to me.
