  1. IMO the most recent is the best and the first is the worst. I think they got progressively better, year to year.
  2. Since last Saturday, I've seen the new series at 2 different Wally's, Kmart and Target....... it has begun.
  3. Creator's plan is a good one but, WOW it's not as cost effective. $240 is no joke.
  4. I love seeing these "reveals"!! So darn exciting! Love the Librarian (Ginny Weasly hair in Brown) gonna have to get several of the the Ball player, the trendsetter w/new hair and the smartphone, medusa, the amazon..... I am a sucker for the female figs
  5. Can TURTLES be far off? ;)
  6. Thanks for taking the time to explain the full details, I had neither the time nor inclination to do so. My respect for Dan's work caused me to be interested in the story, but don't mistake that for "sour grapes". As I said in my previous post, there are no "new ideas" everything we see today is an ape or amalgamation of some previous property. Anthropomorphic animals, mystic barbarians, Galactic Marines, Dinosaur Hunters, Super Robots, Teenage super powered heroes...... All been done before and will be done again. I do, however, believe Mr. Norton has a right to vent a little. If any of us had worked hard on some presentation/pitch in our professions and had it shelved/trashed only to see obvious portions of it used later, we would be a t least a little miffed. Thankfully, it seems Dan has moved on (even if it was WB telling him to I'm a moron) and we're all able to move on as well and enjoy a pretty damned cool LEGO line.
  7. Let me preface this by saying that I LIKE Chima and plan to get several of the sets....... I also must admit that I am a RABID fan of Norton's work. He and I are the same age and clearly are influenced by the same 80's/90's properties. GI Joe, MOTU, TCats, Star Wars, Comic Super Heroes...... Now, with that out of the way I will submit for the inevitable flaming that will occur that the difference in this case as opposed to the afore mentioned Indy/TMNT/Power Rangers/Filmation Ghostbusters apes is that Norton and his WB team pitched TCats to Lego themselves and that much of the art stills coming out now for Chima are (in Dan’s words) nearly identical to his concepts in style and color. Add to that, (And I am speaking as one who watched every episode of the 201X TC show most episode more than once) In the image of Laval with the sword held high and his spirit power/mech looking thing outlined behind him, that construct is essentially the Lego version of the super-power armor introduced late in the series. Laval = Lion-O Cragger = Slythe Razar = Vulture Man Worriz = Jackal Man I’d be willing to bet that, when we see the show, Longtooth will have a decidedly Panthro vibe. Norton and crew are most assuredly bitter at having their show killed but, that alone, does not mean that he’s not right…… Lego has made a killing with themes that are extraordinarily similar to existing concepts….. This is nothing new. Finally, as has been said already, in this day and age there are no “new” concepts. No”new” ideas. Only (hopefully) fresh takes on ideas that have come before.
  8. What work is Norton and Co. vulturing? I'm asking sincerely, not being sarcastic.
  9. Dan Norton (the lead designer on the 201X Thundercats show) seemingling just found out about Chima today and, he's not happy (https://www.facebook.com/#!/Dingo107). Apparently there were discussions between WB and Lego about a TCats license but the talks fell apart and now we have this all new "original theme". Norton even pointed out that the images of the land of Chima are nearly identical in style and even color to the press packet WB presented for TCats
  10. I'm actually kinda disappointed by these. :( I was hoping for more CMF-esque Galactic Marines.....
  11. I was coming here to share this news, I am excited that the pink castle looks to be a $10-$15 set, much easier to buy multiples and acquire lots of girl-centirc bricks for my daughters..... Link to all of the newly released images http://www.brickset.com/browse/years/?year=2013&Theme=Bricks and More
  12. I really kind of love this stuff...... Highlights: The wings The head head molds The jumbo sword mold some of the torsos are quite good.... Bring it on!
  13. Hinkley has pics of the suitcases: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25936096@N02/8074431836/in/photostream
  14. http://gizmodo.com/5...llection-people Close ups of the minifigs Sorry, looks like i was late to the party.
  15. OMG, I just had a nerdgasm........ If you are legit this is AMAZING news.
  16. This isn't "sudden", the Burrow and the Hogwarts Express and no longer available from TLG and thus, they've increased in value by quite a bit. The other 2010 sets seems to have been carried over (Hagrid's Hut, Hogwarts Castle) and as such haven't begun the appreciation cycle.......
  17. Do we know the (US) prices on any of these?
  18. I would love an EPIC ongoing Space theme that would/could incorporate aspects of all the previous (sub)themes. Call it LEGO Galaxy and have Space Police, Blacktron, M-Tron, Brick Daddy and his gang, Insectoids, modern updates (a la the CMFs) to the classic space figs, the whole deal! It would be great to see TLG put out a sustained theme that puts all the characters/races/factions in one big world and not have to “re-set” everything every couple years. I hadn't seen your reply when I drafted my own; this is exactly how I feel. Make the universe diverse and eclectic, with elements from even the most obscure old themes (see: Ice Planet or Life on Mars) It would be a sure fire winner!!
  19. I haven't seen any Series 8 yet at all and I live in Arlington but wirk in Redmond so I hit all the spots in between Everett FM (Evergreen & Casino) had 4/5 cases of 7 last week I would imagine we will still find alot of 7, it seems 6 & 7 were ordered HARD by WM and FM.....
  20. We're getting to "that time" of the year. These will sell like wildfire on the shelf next to the Haunted House.... I love the Rock and Monster sets, i was resoundinly MEH on the Beach set. Epic WIN

  24. I love it. An excellent representation of the TIE.... It's refreshing to see a new take on such a classic, and frankly overdone, subject. BRAVO!!
  25. I would love to see not only a large scale, 3 story or so, skycraper but also expansion "floor packs":)
