  1. It uses the same frame building technique and slotted technic panels as the official Lego mosaics, and can be hung on the wall pretty easily!
  2. In the US I would try looking in the Legoland stores - they have been turning up there off and on when out of stock otherplaces. They have websites and you could try calling them directly as well.
  3. While I haven't had quite as bad of an experience, I have noticed here in the US many more small issues with the sets I buy, especially ones that I purchased May-Dec 2021. I had 3 sets that had a missing part, a part in the incorrect color, and parts in the wrong bag. I assumed it had to do with production issues, maybe struggling to meet demand last year. I haven't had any issues recently, but I haven't been buying as many sets either. I've heard others mention similar issues as well. Edit to add, that I had never experienced a missing or damaged part previously to this
  4. Well I agree not to worry about it, that is because there is very little we can do about this change (except voice our opinion). According to multiple sources inside and/or close to LEGO this was apparently a very intentional decision, we just don't know why. They could indeed come back, perhaps after a lag time of a certain amount of months, who knows. Only TLG can tell us why they made the decision and so far they have chosen not to. Maybe New Elementary will get an answer as a "recognized fan media".
  5. Apparently, the removal (from all regions) came with the launch of the US and the rest of the world
  6. Yes, I noticed the same. I also was under the same impression. Maybe worth a call to CS. I'm trying to keep an open mind on this, but the most needed improvement - and you would think the theoretical aim of merging the two services would be to eliminate this kind of confusion. But so far this merger just seems to be cosmetic, unifying everything under one storefront, when there are in effect still 2 separate systems in place. Which IMO is actually more confusing... And don't get me started on losing the new 2022 elements... I'm still hopeful that this is just the first step, laying the groundwork for a more functional B&P site, but in the meantime I'm afraid we will have to deal with the results of TLG's growing pains
  7. Well, we can expect to see them in 2023 at least... In all seriousness though we can only speculate on why, but given all of the logistics issues of the past years, I wouldn't be surprised if they were simply prioritizing those pieces for CS and new sets. But who really knows. Also worth noting that supposedly "novelty" parts were not supposed to be available either (these are parts that are made only for a specific set) but some appear to have slipped through. The minifig pieces are a different story as they will be merged into the new BaM service, so I wouldn't go by those as an indicator of future 2022 part availability. As I understood it no Minifigure parts were expected to be available at all leading up to the BaM launch but in fact the opposite seems to be true, there almost seem to be more than previously available on the old BaP. There are definitely still lots of bugs in the system. I'm not sure how I feel about it myself yet. The filters are nice but I usually search for specific elements - the filters really only lead to more impulse buying when I see a cool piece I think I may be able to use some time down the line. The major improvement I would like to see is improved shipping speed for all parts, but given the background logistics I understand how challenging that would be.
  8. Can confirm that on the Bricks and Pieces Discord channel LEGO employee has stated that 2022 pieces have been removed from the new BaP. They may or may not return. This is very disappointing for me as I was looking to pick up some 1 x 1 round tiles in green (LEGO dark green) and they are no longer available. However, I have found at least one part that was not on the old system in either PaB or BaP. So that is some good news. They are still working out issues with the new site and working on adding features (such as the view out of stock ) button. Things will continue to be added.
  9. Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed it! Wow! You have my humbpe gratitude! I really.tried to make the build process as easy as possible but if you have suggestions after you build it feel free to let me know! This is the type of quality comment you will only find on a forum of Star.Wars and LEGO fans! Thanks for making me chuckle!
  10. Hi Everyone, I'd like to present my mosaic artwork titled "Old Friends" First off a couple of disclaimers! #1 I know mosaics are not everyone's cup of tea, so if you've made it this far thank you! #2 You may have already seen this on my Flickr or Instagram pages, if so I apologize. I'm pretty proud of the way this one turned out so I want to share it with as many people as possible! The piece consists of 3911 parts and sits on a 4x4 base of 16 x 16 technic base plates (or bricks if you prefer). I worked hard to eliminate as many rare parts as possible. I managed to source most of the pieces from used art sets and LEGO bricks and pieces. I only used BL to acquire the 4 x 4 curved macaroni tile in yellow, 3 1/2 round stadium tiles in orange and some of the frame elements which are far less expensive there. If one was so inclined it would be possible to replace the technic baseplates with flat 32 x 32 baseplates and forgo the frame for a decent savings. Like my Boba Fett mosaic, this one comprises 3 layers of plates and tiles over baseplates. This is to give more definition to the shapes, allow for some more subtle color through layering round tiles and square plates and to add a bit of dimensionality to the image. I've been enjoying trying to get better photos of my mosaics and trying to capture what they are actually like to see in person (as opposed to the original renderings, or a straight-on shot). the frame follows the typical LEGO art technique with an integrated frame using modified 1 x 2 bricks with pin to connect the frame to the technic base plates. It also includes the technic pin connectors that acts as picture hangers to hang on the wall, though I quite like the leaning look. Instructions are available on Rebrickable. I enjoy the unique challenge of creating instructions for these mosaics. The options in stud.io aren't quite flexible enough to create user-friendly instructions so I spent a long time thinking about the hurdles and designing a solution that would work within the format we are familiar with. In the end, I came up with a simple looking matrix of part/color however accurately transcribing the data (number of pieces, style of piece, and color) was incredibly time-consuming and tedious, which involved outputting a separate model of each mosaic step, creating a parts list .xls and entering that data by hand into thee page template. I have included an example below so you can get an idea. In the future, I hope to have my wife help me code a script to do this automatically. I'm always open to constructive feedback so please do let me know what you think!
  11. Really nice, I love the more unusual color schemes. Great solution with the sand blue tile as well.
  12. Thanks, if my French was a bit better I would consider it! Thanks for the comment! Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the build, my advice is to take it slow and work on it when you have some time to relax (some music or a podcast and a beverage of choice makes a nice addition as well)!
  13. I was a bit disappointed that the first two reviews of the Elvis set didn't mention the new nougat tiles...at least Brickfanatics corrected theirs (no surprise seeing you call out that omission @bitbamboo!) Personally, the biggest gap in the plates' color palette is the lack of dark green (earth green) which is the one that I have the hardest time correcting. I can usually find a solution to lighter blue between some of the "greener" blues, light aqua, medium azure, which are at least close. I think that more than the mosaic sets, TLG's dedication to the dots theme will give us more colors in tiles- though in smaller quantities obviously. I wonder how successful the mosaic theme is overall - there is definitely a niche audience, but is it enough for long-term sustainability? I wonder. I honestly don't know. I hope so though because I appreciate their willingness to experiment and I'd like to see it pay off.
  14. Thank you so much! If you have any feedback or suggestions of the build process please let me know.
  15. Thank you, I'm glad you like it! You can find instructions on Rebrickable if you are interested Bounty Hunter Mosaic moc on rebrickable I hope some choose to build it, I spent a long time on the instructions trying to make them as easy to use as possible!
  16. Thank you for the great feedback! I really think LEGO missed the boat a bit with their mosaics, I think most fans of regular sets would appreciate and enjoy something with a bit more construction. But having created instructions for these I can understand why they would impose the limitations they do. Its a shame though because the layering and use of plates and tiles together really allows for more variation in the image. I also think it gives more life to the final piece. Its a bit hard to see in photos but the way the light plays off the surface adds another element to the mosaic which is emphasized by the relief.
  17. LMAO, I literally just ordered the last parts for the first version last week. Just my luck...now I really want to build this version!! It looks really good, great job as usual!
  18. Thanks very much! And don't worry, I will be branching out into other topics as well! Really, I think of these more as two-dimensional constructions than mosaics, but because they do borrow some construction and display techniques from the official sets I think it is easier for people to relate to them as mosaics. In reality they probably fall somewhere in-between!
  19. Hi, everyone, I thought I would share my last LEGO mosaic titled "The Bounty Hunter". I debated between posting this here or in the Star Wars theme board, but since building mosaics is for a special kind of LEGO fan I decided to put it here Plus I will always try to spread love to the Mosaic or Art theme! Mods feel free to move if you feel otherwise! The image is based on a great fan film about Boba Fett and features his pre-BoBF armor. What can I say I'm old school! The mosaic itself uses the technic base "bricks" as the official art sets do, and similar frame construction. The image is built up over 3 layers of plates and tiles. I like to use the contrast of height, tile shape and plate textures to give additional depth and color/tone variation to the image. I like to think that this was particularly successful in this case as capturing some of the subtlety and detail would have been impossible at this scale. The mosaic is 66 studs wide by 34 high. The total part count is 2532 and I have tried to limit the rare parts as much as possible. Bricks and Pieces and used art sets on eBay were my great friends in amassing the parts for this one! Believe it or not, only a handful of pieces came from BL! I hope you enjoy, please leave a comment if you do. And if not, I am always open to constructive feedback. Thanks for looking!
  20. Agreed, I'm looking forward to those nougat round tiles! I am also refreshing the Bricks and Pieces page on LEGO SaH daily waiting for the new basic green round tiles to arrive! There are a few in the globe set but I'm looking for more like 100! Dark green would be a dream... I just hope with TLG's investment in the dots and art themes that we get them someday in the not too distant future! @bitbamboo In your table, it says the Batman mosaic frame is in Dark Black. I'm assuming it is a typo and you mean black (or maybe blue?). I'm curious because I am looking to put a dark brown frame on one of my mosaics but the 2 x 2 corner plates are not currently available in Dark Brown
  21. Hmmm, it is really hard to tell from the pictures, but you may be right. There does appear to be a new element in there. On the LEGO site below the portrait in the "rainbow" spread, it is a bit easier to see. There you can clearly see from right to left, Dark Brown, Reddish Brown, Dark Orange and then there appear to be 2 tonally similar but different hues one is Medium Nougat and the other appears to be unlike any other. Too orange to be dark tan or one of the pinks, it looks to be closer to a basic Nougat color. I'll be watching New Elementary for confirmation.
  22. Hello everyone, A little about me: 43, father and husband. I work in a creative field during the day, but my role is pretty much project management. So LEGO has been a great creative outlet for me. I live in NYC which is both great and sometimes frustrating as a LEGO fan. Like anywhere I'm sure! Kiddo's interest in LEGO and Star Wars helped rekindle my own and with the pandemic, my interests in the two ballooned! I've been really into creating custom mosaics but still enjoy building mocs and LEGO sets. Stud.io has been a godsend for me as I slowly build my part collection and I actually enjoy making instructions! Lately, I've been getting more and more into photography and trying to get some interesting shots of my creations - I love how there are so many directions one can go in this hobby! I have been active on Instagram for awhile, and have lurked here for a long time. It just occurred to me recently to set up this account, so here I am. I look forward to continuing to learn from those here with so much experience and creativity! Middlebrick
  23. Hey everyone. I've been trying to improve my photography a bit, moving on from simply using a lightbox. I'm open to any constructive feedback, always wanting to learn more! Sorry about the last post Lets try this again. Same premise different model - this is the excellent M-68 speeder moc by @barneius as seen in Solo. I built a simple garage setting for the background I experimented with some different colored fill lights and minor post production effects to get a moody atmosphere. I also used a screen to insert the image of Corellia outside of the garage doors.
  24. I noticed this, but personally, I feel like it would be a shame to spend all the time and money to build this beautifully detailed and accurate moc only to have to use a brick-built windshield that IMO doesn't meet the standards of the rest of the design. It's not just the price of the windscreen but also the scarcity, as evidenced by the bricklink listings. Not to take anything away from this amazing design though - it is a truly beautiful creation!
