  1. Great stuff, Ross!
  2. Hey gang, please post or link some of your favorite BoBS pics here from the previous eras and challenges here. It's for promotional purposes! Thanks, ♧
  3. For you more lubberly folks, I submit my brick-built 6 pound field gun. I'll post some intructions after I lay hands on it again. Those round grommets have got to be my favorite 'new' part. Ideally the axle's pegs and grommets would have their colors reversed but it's what I have. Nothing to heady, just make sure the cannon goes into the 4way first so the axle pegs sit at equal depth; ... Thanks, ♧
  4. Correct. Lemme see if I can clarify that.
  5. Post it as a separate topic in the BoBS Forum with the 'Transition Challenge' preface [TC] and then link that topic here in a reply. Welcome aboard!
  6. Looking sharp! We're off to a great start!
  7. I like it! Does it have an interior?
  8. Click here to View the WINNERS! ------------------------------------ Click here to Vote ------------------------------------ Ahoy there! Deadline extended to April 7 With our resident pirates roll-building-game, Brethren of the Brick Seas(BoBS) transitioning from Era Two into Era Three, the lusty leadership at BoBS' Brethren Court has decided to post three challenges for any fan of Pirates to join in! The first challenge has been posted in the BoBS forum and can be joined here! Plus you can WIN some great prizes! by @Kai NRG There is no need to join BoBS to participate as we are in the waning days of Era II at the moment. That said, contestants should keep the following in mind; 1.)All submissions are to take place in the world of Brethren of the Brick Seas. This is a fictional world, purpetually locked in the glory days of the Age of Sail. There are no steam engines or high fantasy elements to this world. 2.)As this is a BoBS challenge, more consideration may be paid to submissions that demonstrate some understanding of the rich world of BoBS. by @Bregir It isn't a pirate's way to have assigned reading (and BoBS has a fair share that can be read)so just know that well thought out and executed MOCs with generic subjects will do very well too. Whalers hauling in a catch, naturalists examining a volcano, soldiers marching about, merchants closing a deal, pirates doing, you know, 'pirate stuff', etc. by @Khorne The first challenge's prizes are four custom BoBS themed minifigs from Rocky Mountain Minifigs, see below! One each to the first and second prize winners in each catagory. Brethren of the Brick Seas is a brick building and role playing game where a series of mocs are built by players to establish their character's stories and the fictional world of Halos in which they live. With four playable factions, players can make themselves honest sod-busters, avaricious merchants, imperialist soldiers and unscrupulous pirates, of course. The world of Halos itself is large with many climates to build in, from windswept highlands, tropical paradises, searing deserts, the high seas and anywhere in between! We welcome all builds, digital and brick. By @Justsomebrix More info on BoBS can be found in the Master Index. by @evancelt We do hope you all will consider joining us in Era III which will have a more stream-lined means of interacting with the world than Era II but for now, why not join in our three challenges!?! For more scenes of our previous adventures, please check out the Era Three Promotionals thread! It is still being populated at the moment. Thanks, ♧ ps; join the best faction. Oleon.
  9. Good write up Key! Like the cairn and outfits a lot.
  10. Thanks for starting us off! A fitting tomb for a war hero and solid foundation for our tale.
  11. Great first MOC in 20years! I love ruins myself and only just got back into Lego about 3 or 4 years ago. I never could get my hands on many when I was a kid. Scatter some white bricks around the ground too, if you plan on keeping it. Good classic vibes there.
  12. Where'd you find this? Are there others for inspiration?
  13. Good thinking. Really digging these.
  14. Har! Love the idea!
  15. Plain background? Or do we jazz up the scene with a baseplate? Crew weapons (space-16 pounder, etc)?, hunk of space terrain?
  16. Looks the part! Nice work!
  17. Good stuff.
  18. Good news a brewin' over in the Sci-Fi thread! https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/197445-contest-space-pirates-back-to-the-carribean-galaxy/
  19. Awesome! I'll have to scramble on this one. @Bob De Quatre, I shared this in the pirate thread. Hope that's okay. If so, maybe see if you can pin a link there too?
  20. Good thoughts all the way through. This especially; For me, I have a ton of hobbies outside Lego, poor patience, a limited collection and roving cats. I will not be able to produce large, finely detailed MOCs often, if at all. Many potential members are in a similar boat and if we are after more people, then broad terms for MOC acceptance should be the norm. That said, you're right. The EGS has scaling rewards for the size of MOCs but nothing in place for quality. A positive-reinforcement, game mechanic that rewards high quality across all scales and build types to the builder should be considered. The Personal Influence Points system is sorely under-utilized at this point and may provide the answer? The more PIPs a player has, the more effect they can have directly in-faction or world events. Perhaps allowing them to be spent to save an exquisite ship from destruction/theft in some form of 'hail-mary' action, exchanged to boost revenue from properties, reroll an AMRCA outcome, and fast track promotions for the builder's character could work? High-quality brick AND digital builds would reward much higher amounts of PIPs? Naturally this is all subject to abuse but that is why we have the Court.
  21. Easier access to minifigs would help. I managed to get the 3in1 ship a few years back. It's still the cheapest option to get 3 whole pirate figs. Kinda priced out of the new fort at the moment but I still plan to get one. It's definately a kit I won't bother to build, I just want the parts for MoCs and those swanky new figs. If there's a 120usd paywall for folks to get pirate figs to use with MoCs, the results are going to be poor sales and little interest.
  22. Oh sweet! You all are on it already! I'll hold fast for a few weeks. Looking forward to whatcha got.
  23. @Yperio_Bricks, Andrameda's Gates. Was the Scifi RBG here on EB but it went into downtime and never came back. You may be right about an E3 bonus but from the sounds of it, a bonus to a few players wouldn't be a loss to others, plus BoBS is open to all. We can put up a topic in the general Pirates forum inviting others to join as we prepare for E3. The main purpose is to keep the BoBS group plugging along and pull in new people by incentivising builds within the world of E2.
  24. One of my big concerns for BoBS is the slow death of apathy between Eras. I never got a chance to do anything beyond sign up for AG and am more than a little frustrated that SW isn't INSIDE the scifi section where it belongs. I have a strident rant in the old AG thread about that, so I'll spare you it here. I would do some build myself but I am away from my collection for a month or so. @Khorne has been posting small vignette stories and I believe a small build collaborative story or two would be a great way to keep the community active. Call it a mini challenge, that would reward participation in E3 somehow. Some ideas would be; Investigating the volcano Chasing the Order of Hercules Picking a fight with the WTC A religeous schism Stopping a Coup attempt Declaring war on volcanos🤣 A polar expedition An uprising in the desert provinces From @Keymonus; Some additional ideas:-Hunting for a lost Lotii treasure fleet, sunk south of El Oleonda (stg. I introduced in an old storyline)-Exploring the Lowers, the interior of El Oleonda, or some of the ignored large islands (usefull, but less original)-A diplomatic mission to the Mokolei, to some of the Guelphian states, or to the West the (the Great Alliance States?) I wanna see as many folks from all the factions incentivised to keep building. Maybe a Minichallenge that pits multiple collaborations against each other. Prizes to the winners, decided by a poll in the Pirates forum itself, to promote BoBS to the broader community? I'd be willing to spring something for some prizes come June/July. What do you all think? Anyone interested or have some more ideas to choose from? Thanks, ♧
