  1. This is the smaller assembly, it measures 1 and 3/16th diameter and about a 1/2 inch thick.
  2. I a, looking at doing a MOC and am using my 5580 Highway Rig as the tractor and am building a special trailer to tow behind it (not really tow it, it is for show.....). The rig comes with part number 2695c01 tire and rim assembly but I am looking for a smaller tire assembly. I have some smaller wheels and tires that use the rim shown on a 3482c03 but cannot find them on Bricklink. What I am looking for is something in between what I already have before I order them off of Bricklink. Any suggestions?? I also need them to fir onto a Technic axle. Thanks for any help!
  3. Question for you all: I had an idea on how to free up some space on this layout by putting the "Speed Champion" cars on the cars (or carriages as some of you call them..) and pull them behind the engine. As you can see in the video of it running, I took the truck assemblies and just connected them to the upper plate to put the camera on it and that is what I want to do with the others. I will use the 2 that came with the set and piece the other 3 with parts off of Bricklink. So will this engine pull a total of 5 cars with little weight on them?? Thanks.
  4. I have been wondering this since I bought the large large Lego Cat bulldozer and most recently my City Train set. I noticed that both of these sets use Bluetooth to control them and was wondering that if I was running either of these sets (using a phone with the apps on them) is that if someone else can "tap into" the controls and run it also?? Is this possible or once it is "locked in" to one set of controls it cannot be over-ridden. Just curious......
  5. Hi all!! I finally got everything together built the engine and used the trucks and base of one of the cars to make this video. Enjoy!!
  6. I am just wondering.....has there been any updates as to if the Liebherr crane kit is going to be made or not?? I want to start putting cash back so when it comes out I can get one. Thanks.
  7. Hi everyone!! I know it has been a while since I have updated on the train layout but made quite a bit of progress this past weekend and finally got the platforms made for under the baseplates and laid everything out to see how it looks. It took a little time to get all the baseplates I needed as I was getting them from Wal-Mart and Target a few here and there and needed 3 more to get the 42 but nobody had the ones I needed so I had to order them online and wait for them to get to me. In the photo you can see all the baseplates laid out with the track on top and I used 2 8's where 4 of the baseplates came together so they would not move. I see where there is some overhang on the inside corner and I have an idea how to hold the track up so I am going to cut a small piece of wood and use some Lego pieces to make a "bridge" to go under the track so I am going to look aroung on Bricklink to see what I can find. Have a good one all!! Sorry I could not get the photo to upload my software to resize it is being a pain in the butt.....
  8. The problem is the 2 small round flat pieces in step 1 were put together correctly and the top one the holes lined up with the axle but if you put it on the axle it is too high so I had to remove one of the small discs in step one to make it fit properly.
  9. I meant the round flat ones in the first step not the bigger ones that have the holes or not.....
  10. I just started to build the Cat D11 bulldozer yesterday and ran into an issue on the step in the provided photo and see if anyone out there ran into this problem also. As I got to this step I put it together as the book shows but when I put in onto the center part to hold it in place they woudn't go on. I backed up a few steps to see if I put everything together correct and it seems I did so I took one of the partial discs off the bottom and it went on. Any ideas???
  11. Hi all! A little update on the train layout. I am getting closer to having all the baseplates I need for the track to sit on (only need 15 more) and am waiting (patiently....) for the track I ordered from Lego to arrive. I ordered the track on February 28th and it still hasn't shipped. After a couple of weeks to see what was going on, I contacted Lego to see what was going on and their reply was they are 5 to 6 weeks behind on getting orders out of the warehouse so at this point it will me shipped to me in mid April so hopefully when I take some time off of work in late April, I can start getting the wood and piecing everything together. I'll keep you all posted on the progress as it comes together.
  12. I guess what I meant was, if you took the original diagram I had quite a few posts ago and put both boards side by side. Each board will have the same amount of base plates (21 per) and would run on an outside loop with Lego kits on the inside. I'll look at the software on Bricklink and see if it helps
  13. About $.90 per piece At the time of this quote, I was looking at the "L" shape layout. Now I am wondering if the same amount of track will be the same or different if both pieces were put side by side (7 plates high and 6 wide or 6 high and 7 wide)??
  14. Once I heard of this new addition to the Technic line I was like "I have to get one of these". Now I don't know metric conversion but in "feet" how tall would this one be?? Also I know of another crane that is tall also, the Manitowoc 31000 which with all the jib sections can be over 700 feet tall so I don't know which is taller. Anyone??
  15. Hi all, I'm happy to say that I am getting the parts I need to complete the train layout. I contacted Lego directly the other day about the straight sections and I can actually purchase the pieces from them. It is a little over $30.00 for the track, shipping costs, and state tax. So I have them on the way as well as the curved sections I got on Bricklink. As for the baseplates, I still need 19 more to make the "scenery". Slowly getting there.....
  16. Hi all! I was finally able to get the train set I wanted, the 60197. I was able to get it from a store called Target here in the U.S. (I know this is a worldwide forum and am not sure if store is in other parts of the world..) I ordered it on a Sunsay and got it on Wednesday. Now all I have to do is get on Bricklink and order the extra pieces of track I need. Yippee!!!
  17. I was digging through some photos and fount this photo of the Lego Speed Champions Ford Mustang with a real 1966 Mustang that was just about the same color. Enjoy!!
  18. After getting the info for what extra track I need, I put the info into Bricklink and cannot believe how much some people on there want for a section of straight track. Some want around $8.oo per piece, unbelievable, but if I look for the curved track it costs next to nothing. How is that??
  19. I have seen a couple of words tossed around for different Lego things. For example: I know what MOC means now (for My Own Creation) but what does AFOL mean?? I am stumped on that one.
  20. Hi all! I am rebuilding something I made quite some time ago with newer Lego parts and some old ones as well. I recently was on Bricklink looking for a part I needed and only a few sellers had it and some of the prices were waaaaayyyyy too much. After looking on the site in a different area I noticed the pin I wanted (part #4459) was an older part BUT there was a similar part (part # 2780) which looked like a newer pin design. Now I know these pins had a better grabbing power so things would not move (which is what I want) so does the newer pin have a better "holding power" then the older ones?? I am looking to order some soon so your comments mean alot. Thanks!!
  21. Thanks for the info! I knew about the curved sections but did not know how many straights I needed. As for the straights, are they all the same length?? I nticed the track pack comes with a smaller piece of straight so I probably don't need any of these right? Thanks again.
  22. OK. I'm a little peeved at Lego right now because I put in a request to be emailed when the track packs came back into stock and apparently if you do not order within 30 seconds of getting the email you are not going to get any track. So I have come up to the conclusion that to get what I need, I might have to buy the track from someone on Bricklink. Now my problem is, the passenger train I want to run, the 60197, comes with some track 16 curved pieces and 4 straight pieces. I know I need 8 curved pieces to make the 2 half curves but how many and which track do I need?? There are different variations on Bricklink and I do not know the track voltage. Anyone??
  23. Well as for the nails going through the baseplates, I plan to pre-drill the plates before putting the nails in and also using a nail with a small head and using a punch to get it all the way down. Also, does anyone out there know how long the straight pieces are?? The Lego site tells you how many are in the set but gives no dimensions.
  24. I tried to freehand what it is I am trying to accomplish. This will give you a general idea....
  25. I am looking for some help with an idea I have. I want to build a somewhat small railroad using the 60197 Lego passenger train and the platform will sit in a corner on 2-6 foot tables. I know the train is on backorder but I am on the email list once it gets back in stock. The base for the railroad will be 1/2 inch thick cabinet grade lumber (good stuff) and I want to use the Lego 10700 green baseplates to anchor the track to. I want to cover the wood in baseplates so after doing the math the base will be 30" wide by 70" long so each board would need 21 baseplates each (for a total of 42) and I plan to use a very small headed nail (like a finishing nail) to hold them to the board. Now here is where I am running into a small issue. I plan to use the track that comes with the set and also have a request with Lego for one set of extra track (item number 60205) (which is also on backorder) and am wondering how many more of these track packs I might need. The train will just run on the outside of the layout and on the inside will be Lego kits I have been building over time. I might also order some trees and flowers from Bricklink to add a little to it just for fun. Also I plan to anchor the track to the baseplates with either 2 by 6 or 2 x 8 thin Lego pieces and on the corners use a Lego swivel (I've seen them on Bricklink but don't know the part number). Anyone??
