  1. How about using a chain instead of the gears. The photo with the gears was just for a laugh....
  2. I am looking to do this at a train meet here in November (I am doing a n all Lego train with different Lego kits in the middle) and do not want the rotors to spin super fast. I just want to show that they rotate. Would 1 pf motor and some chain make them spin slower? And Milan, I was thinking of that too on securing the rear of the big copter down. If I move the gears as shown it pulls it down towards the baseplate a little bit.
  3. I had put this in another forum on this site but had no responses so I thought I would put it here to see if any one can help. I have these 2 Lego helicopters and want to make the rotors spin using the motor in the front. I put the "gear wall" up using 1x16 Technic beams to see if it would work just for a laugh but I am thinking in the chain direction. The copters are spaced far enough apart so the rotors do not hit and will be secured to the baseplate with bricks so they do not move around. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
  4. I have the 2 helicopters shown in the photo and wold like to make the rotors spin but at a slow speed. I want to use the motor in the front and put the gears on the "wall" made of 1x16 Technic beams (the gears were put on just to see if it works or not.....). I have them where I want them and am thinking about using chain like on the copter on the left (the bigger one) and use soe gears to take the slack out of the chain if necessary. I also know I will need quite a few chain links (a hundred or more) for this. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
  5. Well, I took the Lego train to where I wanted to test it out BUT the track is 3 rail "O" and it didn't seem to sta on the track. One of the members of the club I belong to mentioned that it might run on a 2 rail "O" (which apparently has a different dimension rail to rail).
  6. I have the 60197 set and noticed the trucks on the engine are somewhat close to "O" scale track. I was wondering if the Lego train could run on a metal track without doing any damage especially to the flanges. Any thoughts on this?
  7. Hello everyone in the Lego universe! Here is a photo video of (most) of the kits I own. Enjoy!!
  8. After reading where you 2 mentioned, I pulled off the one gear box, the one on what would be the passenger side on an American car, and lo and behold, the gear was on the outside and not the inside. So I removed the box and spun it around and it spins properly. Thanks for the help!!
  9. Ok thank you. The instruction manual does not show this angle or even how to flip it to look like this.
  10. On the McLaren car there is a part on the back under the wing that looks like a cooling vent. It uses a 2x8 with some angled pieces to make the vent look but how in the heck do you attach it to the car?? I noticed there are some blue pins that stick out so is it wedged in there or what?? I tried to but it seems like all it will do is push the rear wing up and I also checked the rear wing construction and it seems like it is put together right. Anyone??
  11. If you look at the video by Shiva both rotors move in the same direction as mine do.
  12. Here is a video clip of the kit please let me know where I need to make adjustments.
  13. According to the manual one side was to pointed p and the other pointed down, which I did, and they still hit.
  14. I just got done building the Creator 3 in 1 set and made the twin rotor helicopter. After finishing everything I decided to turn the knob on the back to spin the rotors but they hit one another no matter which way they were turned. I looked at the book and they were aligned properly but still hit. I tried to remove one of the sides and move the rotor a hair but they still hit. Anyone out there run into this problem?? And if so what is the solution?? Thanks
  15. I could use a layer of packing tape if that is what you are suggesting...
  16. I am making an American flag and want to tie the blue and red/white together that is why I am looking for a clear tile. If you pull an image o the flag up from any site you will see there is a "wall" of blue on the left so I wanted the clear opposed to either using an all red or all white to tie it together on top.
  17. Unfortunately doing a re-design is out of the question the only other thing I might look at is a white tile and I want to top it off with a flat tile with no studs. I guess I will have to do some more digging around or wait until I have all the pieces from Lego to come in to really see what I need. I was trying to get some feelers out early to see what was out there. Thanks!
  18. I am doing another MOC and I want the top of it to use clear transparent tiles to tie it together. I looked on Lego's site and also Bricklink and coudn't seem to find what I am looking for. I am looking for either 2x4's, 2x6's, or 2x8's and maybe a 2x10 if it was ever made. Thnks for any help!
  19. Hi all! I finally got all the parts I have been waiting for from Lego and got all the cars together. See the train run here!!
  20. I recently purchased some of the metal "axles" for the extra cars for my 60197 train and was wondering: does Lego manufacture these or are they "out sourced"?? I mean if you did them in house you can keep an eye on the quality control. Just curious....
  21. I also wanted some parts to make extra cars for my 60197 train, I had the part numbers and searched the Lego site for them to no avail. I searched Bricklink for the parts and they were there but before ordering them I emailed Lego about them asking them for a price before ordering off of Bricklink. Low and behold, Lego actually shipped the parts to me for FREE. I mean I was willing to pay for them but they shipped them and all. I guess if I am in a rush to get stuff Bricklink would be the way to go too...
  22. I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong forum but here goes: I am weighing the options of buying from Lego versus Bricklink. I recently placed a pretty good sized order from Lego and it is going to take some time to get. I don't want to cancel the order while it is getting processed and am now getting ready to do another MOC. I priced the parts I need from Lego and also skimmed Bricklink for prices as well. Would the prices of say 50 2x8's in white from both sites be the same price (shipping included) or would one be cheaper than another?? Thanks for any input.
  23. But if you are using the hub and motors for something than what the app is programmed for how do you do it? Say I am building a crane and want to use the hub and motors and there is nothing in the app to do what I want the crane to do, how do you custom program it to do what I want it to do??
  24. On the Lego site in the Technic area I see you can purchase the hub and motors. Now I know they come with the Cat D11 dozer kit but if you buy them separately how do you program them to do what you want?? Is there some custom program (or app) that allows you to do this?? Just wondering....
  25. Hi all!! Just a little update: I am waiting to get parts in from Lego and also from on Bricklink for parts needed for the car (or carriage) chassis to finish things off. I am hoping to make a small video clip of the train pulling the cars with the Speed Champions vehicles on them. I had to order enough parts for a total of 4 cars to do what I want. Stay posted here!
