Question about photo sharing sites. Which one is best to download to and be able to share photos to this site? I was using one for a while and I cannot seem to be able to upload now to it (they probably changed something and it got more confusing...) Thanks!

Yeah, that is what I did, a basic search. I looked at the ticket prices and hours of operation and that was about it. Yes, if I would have done more searching I would have came across the parts that you need a child to enter (like in the FAQ area) but I had no reason to look there. And as I stated in a previous reply, I saw the date for the AFOL night and it is on a Friday and only for 3 hours. And yes, whoever does the webpage for the Discovert Centers should put on the main page of the site, even if it is at the bottom of the page, a disclaimer that a child under the age of 17 is needed for an adult to enter also (or something like that...).

Just out of curiosity...........(and I did not look yet) are the Legoland parks the same was?? Do you need a child to enter or are they "adult friendly"??
-
The bad thing is for me I have no one in my family under the age of 18 to go with me and like I said in the previous comment, they only open the center to AFOL's a couple times a year and when I can't go....go figure

I did a iittle more searching and see that the AFOL thing is only for 3 hours and is on a Friday. I wonder why they can't make it on a weekend where they might get more business?? And due to the way I work, the day they are open is in October on a Friday. Even if I worked a 9 to 5 job I woudn't make it there to enjoy it (I would be there for maybe a half an hour....) so there goes that idea...

I did not see alot of this stuff until AFTER I got home. I planned my trip after doing a basic search of the site. Some of this stuff you have to some digging to find, which I did not do.

Hi all! I know I haven't posted in a while but I need to vent a little about my experience at a Lego Discovery Center. On July 2nd I planned a little Lego-ing trip and basically I wanted to see the Lego store at the King Of Prussia Mall near Philadelphia, Pa. here in the U.S. . I did a search on my phone for the directions a few days before but for some reason I wanted to look at the map a little bigger so I pulled it up on my home computer. As I zoomed in on the map I saw a Lego Discovery Center which was on way so I added it to the trip. As I got there (about a 2 and a half hour drive from where I live) I went in and looked around a little and asked about doing one of the tours. Well it was just me (I have no kids) and the employee said I could not go in unless I had a child with me. I could not believe it. Just because I don't have a kid I could not get in. The attendant said they have an AFOL day (which I did not know about going there) I pretty much thought anyone could go in with or without a child. Needless to say I did not hang around there very long due to being upset so I went to the Lego store and looked around there for a while. Still peeved at what happened earlier in the day, I looked again at the Lego site and I could not find ANYTHING that says you need a child to enter (I looked 3 times and could not find anything....). Did I miss something here?? I did some deep searching and see there is an AFOL day in October (for 3 hours and is later in the day...) but after the first time going there it left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't know if I will go then as it is the only thing I would go down for. I even called a lawyer to see if there is come king of age discrimination case I could get Lego for and unfortunately there is not much I can do as they say they open it to adults (yeah...once a year big woopee....) I mean they are missing out on making a lot of money there if they opened it to all ages all the time (unless Lego don't care...). I mean, what if I was a college kid, 18 years old with no kids and was on break when the AFOL day rolled around or was in my 70's and was in the mall shopping and have no kids or grandkids that do not live near there and wanted to see it and was just in the area visiting friends?? Lego is really losing out here my friends. Any thoughts on this?

Hi all, it has been a while since I was able to get the train up and running as I live in the northeast US and it was cold for a while and I also wanted to try something out before updating this post. First of all, Lego sent me a new motor for the train and I recently put it in and also I got alkaline batteries to use in the train also (they are from Harbor Freight but they are alkaline ones...). I also went to a "mom and pop" Lego store and picked up a bunch of 2x8's to put under the track to raise it up a little to see if it helps (this was only on the straight sections..). I set up the display and leveled it out as good as I could, set the track up and let 'er run. I ran the train with the cars that were hooked up to it before (6 of them) and ran the engine one direction and turned it around to see if it ran differently and it did. If you stand in front of the display and the train runs from left to right nearest to you that is the best. I had to take out the 2x8's on the small section (it is only 5 or 6 pieces of track) as it climbed out of the corner and crept around a half turn (8 corner pieces). It ran for over an hour on the batteries and it would have ran longer but I had other stuff to do so I had to shut it off.

Hi all, I recently bought some Lego parts at an auction (one of those red Lego "suitcases" full) and was going through them to weed out the "imposter's" and noticed a difference in the size of the Lego logo on the studs. Should they look all the same? Some had the word "Lego" where you could read it really good and some it was half the size but still said Lego. Was there a year they changed the size of the logo? Thanks for any help

Someone asked me if Lego made replicas of sports stadiums here in the U.S. like Yankee Stadium in New York. I looked all over Bricklink and could not find anything. Any one?? Thanks for any help.

Well when I did the battery change, which was about 1 set per hour, they were a little warm to the touch.
-
If you are talking about when the cars were connected to the engine and they separated, I am not sure but it was cold when I had the train in the garage and the magnets were not connecting properly. The carriages as you call them seem to move freely when I place them on the track. Also I was also wondering about the batteries. Not the type but will they get warm to the touch after the train has run for a while?

Just got an email from Lego and they are going to send me a new motor for the train. I will let you all know it that resolves the problem or not.
-
But here is the interesting part....the first day of the train show I started off with Harbor Freight batteries(the same ones) until I went through them and switched to Ray-O-Vac ones.
-
Yes I can easily turn the axles. I received an email from Lego the other day and they are wondering id it either the battery pack or the motor. I have measured the battery pack with a volt meter and it is fine but I wonder if the small motor (the electric motor that turns the gears and in turn moves the axles) is taking a dump. You also mentioned that it is running a bot slow. Yes it was running a few clicks up to see if it ran ok and if you noticed how it slowed down as it came into the corners. Well the straight sections are pushed down onto the baseplates and the corners elevate. The only way I can think of fixing that would be to put 2x8's under each straight section (which would be quite a few and also quite expensive) I mean that would be an option that might have to be explored at some point. Once it gets a little warmer where I live I might have to put up one of the platforms and see of there is a height difference with putting a couple of the 2x8's and put the corners down and see how it looks.

Hi all, well here is a little update on the train issue that is still going on. I have been back and forth with Lego about this since it happened and it is still unresolved so a few weeks ago I took it to a model railroad I volunteer at and asked on of the guys that is really into repairing engines to take apart the drive wheel assembly to see if anything looked out of place. Here is what he found: there was some lint, yes lint inside the mechanism and also one of the axles was offset. He was able to correct the issues and I thought that would fix everything...boy I was wrong. Last week I setup the tables again in my garage and put all the track down and the engine ran fine by itself but when I hooked the cars up to it nothing happened it just sat there and when I sped it up on the controller it just barely moved. I am enclosing a YouTube link at the end of this for everyone to look at and give their opinion (which I welcome). Thanks for any help!

I just wanted to share this video with you all of my display (including a train) at a train show where I live. Enjoy!
-
I guess when I get a few minutes I will hahe to put some track down and put the engine back on it and see how it goes. I see your point Freur about the friction thing I didn't think of that. I also checked the battery type and they are zinc chloride ones from Harbor Freight but the batteries I used on Saturday were the same type and it ran fine. The batteries are the "Thunderbolt Magnum" ones
-
The batteries were not alkaline and not an expensive battery. I ran some Ray-O-Vac's and some from a store called Harbor Freight (i'm not sure if this store is a US store only). The Ray-O-Vacs seemed to run longer than the other ones.... As for the third question, I actually unplugged the cable from the battery box to the motor and re-plugged it back in to make sure. And the second question, the one time it stopped I picked the body of the engine up and it sped up.
-
Well, the train really didn't run non stop for 5 hours, it stopped at least once an hour to change batteries so it had a little time to cool down before running again.

Hi all! this past weekend I had my 60197 train running at a local train show where I live in Pennsylvania In the US. I ran the train with 6 cars that had Speed Champion cars on them. The train ran about 5 and a half hours on Saturday and when I started up on Sunday I used the batteries that I had pt in the afternoon before and when they were used up I changed them and that is where I ran into issues. After I changed the batteries I started to run the train and it did not get very far and it seemed to slow down awfully quick for a fresh set of batteries it made the other corner and slowed down again and I noticed the light flashing orange on the battery compartment like the batteries were dead. I took them out and put another set in and it did the same thing. I was able to get a hold of a volt meter and measured the voltage on the battery pack and even after running it just a short time the voltage had gone down a little but not down alot (like below 6 volts) as it read 8,86 which I think is good. I thought I would ask here before calling Lego directly and see what they say. Any ideas??

I had an idea for something I am doing and am looking for some different minifigs and looked around Bricklink and could not find what I was looking for. I am looking for like US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine type figures. There is not an "armed forces" to click on but I saw different series in the first row and wonder if they are in there somewhere of if Lego never made these altogether. Any help would be appreciated.

I got a Mindstorms kit from a guy that delivers newspapers for the place I work for and knows I am into Legos. He works at a thrift store and I asked him to keep an eye out for me if any come in. I got this Mindstorms kit and went through the box and see that there is no cd-rom disc and am wondering if there is any way to download this from another site? And is this the only way to build other creations by having the disc. Thanks for any info.
