1. I can't quickly locate the picture, but I'll say that it was featured in Zeph's quest, may not have been made by him. It was mentioned in the R&D thread, which made me go check it out. 6x6 (maybe?) wall with 1x1, 1x2 and 2x2 tiles... Whoever's it was, it was great Those shots are actually really interesting, Zeph. They definitely give a good idea for scale/size of scene AND the zoom/focus levels. I've looked back at a lot of the older quests for guidance in various aspects, and MOCing is no exception. In particular, I went through Quest #6 and did a run down of all the pictures, with a rough sketch and their dimensions (see first spoiler). That was a major wake up when I compared it to the first scene I'd built: I was definitely going too big. In the second spoiler, I've got a couple of sketches and part of one of them bricked up. The top scene should be fairly easy to build -- mostly pre-fab wall pieces for the buildings. The tree, however, I'm not sure how to overcome the fact that I want to display it as a stone-arched entrance into a giant tree. Pen&paper style intro "The party approaches a large tree" with a picture focused on the arch, with bits of brown visible around the edges? I definitely don't have enough brown bricks to get the full image I've got sketched out.
2. Here's a question for QM's in particular, but it would also apply to pretty much anyone who builds with a medieval/fantasy mindset (and, perhaps this would be a question better asked on the Historic boards, but I'll at least start here): How do you go about getting masses of parts to build medieval structures (inside and out, houses, castles, marketplaces, etc) and related scenes (wilderness, caves, dungeons, etc)? Do you just go to bricklink and put together orders consisting of a bunch of parts, or are there any shops that you know of that sell organized bundles of useful parts? Like, Zepher's SNOT wall recently. It's gorgeous, but looking at my collection, I don't have anywhere near that many small grey tiles, much less in assorted shades of grey. Same goes for smaller bricks, plates, etc. (I like "etc" it's just so useful!) I could go on bricklink and find a shop selling bulk quantities of 1x1, 1x2, 2x2 tiles in L.Grey, D.Grey, L.Bley and D.bley, and then order, say, 50 of each. Same goes for plant parts (green/brown), and landscape parts (brown/green/tan plates)... Basically, if you know of such a store on BL, I'd love to hear about it. Or if you just have a preferred store. I know there's the option of scouring PAB walls, but, being up here in Alaska, the nearest PAB wall is just a wee bit out of reach

7. Maybe you could fudge the first round then, too, so that I'm super-duper-lucky and basically guaranteed a shield roll..? I promise I'd split my loot! Heh. Holy hell Flare. That poor weed. Waiting on orders.
8. For my own amusement, I rolled the round. 1,5,3,4,4. Didn't do the math, but I think Docken would survive the incoming damage. Rolled the next round with the same targets, 2 5 5 1 2. Thormanil proceeds to pull in 166 gold. Can we go with these two rounds, pretty please?
9. I'd argue that a Lich would be a valid candidate for Undead/Etherial. It has the skeletal framework of a once-living creature (generally humanoid), but through magic, bound its spirit and intelligence to its remains. The whole 'binding its conscious to its remains' implies a strong magical presence that remains with the Lich, beyond simply reanimation. Why, just about anyone can summon the dead to unlife to serve their bidding. It takes a specially trained and dedicated wizard to harness the power of the ether to keep their spirit from fleeing their body once they pass. Basically, liches are basically bags of bones with a definite magical presence about them that preserves their spirit/intelligence/conscience within their now-undead remains. Ta-da! Undead/Etherial
10. "Some folks are left handed, some right, and yet some are equally capable with both. No reason you can't embrace both sides of your heritage, nor both of your career paths. Carve your own way, Carvenhall," Thormy couldn't help but chuckle, "Or, who knows, maybe you're destined to walk the line between the two, becomin' a master of both trades?"
11. "Heh, if I did, then I'd be sittin' here wonderin' just what exactly the big plan was for me. Nah, I think we carve our own ways, better or worse. I take it you might?" Thormanil casts a wary glance towards the owls, overgrown weeds and bugs, making sure they weren't going to be caught off guard. "But hah, all in good time. Docken had the good fortune to pick up some mithril for cheap, and we all know he's got it in his head to be nigh-immortal anyway. His are big shoes to fill! If you're always comparin' yourself to the best, it won't be long before you're tired of tryin' to close the gap."
12. "Aw, what Benji, didn't ya ever fool around with yer friends, dreamin' up crazy adventures?" "Beatin' up all these beasties has been a good stress reliever. Ever since I joined up with Heroica, I've been one person's puppet after another. Startin' a war, sellin' a poor kid's soul, leaving a trail of bloodied zealots in the name of revenge... It starts to weigh down on ya! Heck, I'd bet that I'm hauling around more baggage than you, shield, quiver and all!" Thormanil laughs, "But yar, it'll be good to finally have a small fortune when we get back to town. I sometimes miss healing, though, feelin' like the rest of the team depended on me for more than the occasional stunlock. 'Course, with you and Docken around, there hasn't been much healing required, and Althior's got the rest well under control! You and Docken though, damn fine Wardens. Makes me want to grab a shield and hop up front with you! I've heard rumors that the Shadeaux have their own breed of knights, so maybe someday.."
13. "I guess you could compare it to a necromancer... 'cept instead of reanimatin' the dead, they breathe life into food! Heh heh."
14. "A Culinomancer! C'mon, y'know... evil wizard who specializes in self-aware sugary treats! Usually. I once fought one that summoned up a carnivorous pork roast. That thing was terrorizing a small village, eating their pigs, no less! Cannibalism at its finest... and strangest." Thormanil's gaze wanders as he drifts into memories of his early years, back when he and his friends let their imaginations run wild, pretending they were on epic adventures.
15. Hey again, wanted to bring this back to attention. I was having the issue previously on my laptop, but thought it might just be happening because the thing's old and hiccups a lot anyway. Alas, I'm still having the issue a month later on my tower as well. Still a definite return-to-beginning-of-line the first time I double-tap backspace, occasionally (haven't locked down a trigger yet) have the cursor move itself back a word or two after a single backspace, midway through writing a message. I don't see the issue when browsing on my phone. Windows 7 64-bit Home built tower Google Chrome Version 24.0.1312.57 m Firefox Version 19.0 Internet Explorer Version 9.0.8112.16421
16. Thormanil resists the urge to walk up and poke one of the Gloom Spiders. "What're these things made of, jelly? They look more like candy than slightly-worrisome bugs! Heh heh, musta been cooked up by some sorta Culinomancer..." Thormanil chuckles Thormanil attacks Mandragora B from the front row.
17. Oh, well of course. I didn't even consider that, heh. I can still understand the expression in this case (the rito and winged warrior seem to be quote popular, and exposure/availability is limited for the near future, so even if I was hosting a player who wished to go on another quest, in a situation like this, I wouldn't take any offense--the timing of the quest looks like it caught quite a few people by surprise.
18. Bring it! As far as influencing QMs decisions, I don't see a problem with expressing a strong desire to go on a certain quest (and that's how I read "I have to go on... ", as an expression of strong desire, not as a demand). I'd think that a QM would want to take someone who passionately wants to go on their quest over someone who just signed up for everything and is only looking to go on -a- quest, even if it's just because of the expectation of loot/rewards (though if it came down to a handful of people expressing a strong desire, I'd give the desire for loot/rewards the least weight)
19. "Anyone mind if I snag one of those shields? Might be needin' one later on in life, y'know, and as far as "Baby's First Shield" goes, these boards ain't half bad."
20. School be damned, I'm finding much less time than expected to sit and build the scenes I'd like.
21. Well, reasoning and personal views regarding the dice and the effect... I wish *I* could get my hands on a pair of Lucky Dice for the low, low cost of 40 gold and a gem
22. "Welp, guess the elder won't be telling us anything." Thormanil attacks Bugbear Defender A from the front row.
23. "Yub yub? Yub yub?! Answer me you crazy old bear!" Thormanil repeats his attack.
24. Where's my "Innocent Whistle" emoticon when I need it?
25. "Bah, bears..." Thormy shudders, "And you've got some nasty little bug friends with you, too! None of ya are leavin' here with your furry little ears intact, I hope ya know that." Thormanil attacks Bugbear Defender B from the back row.
