Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

If they do ultron well, this could actually be good though... (Not the "that's it" part, but an Ultron figure) -
I'm just going to put this here, but retirement dates can change quickly or unexpectedly. We are 9 months out from EOY, and this set could get moved to a July retirement suddenly, or pushed to retire in 2030. There is no reason to take any current retirement dates as completely set until closer to 2-3 months until retirement. If someone would have made a post about this 2 months ago, they would have said 75192 Millennium Falcon was retiring this year, and now it supposedly isn't.

I... don't know what this is trying to argue (or what it all has to do with what we are discussing), but having a toy with villains who do terrible things in-universe doesn't make it any less a kids' toy. Vader murdered a lot of people in Star Wars canon... LEGO Star Wars Vader mechs are just as much a toy as they were before. On topic - I think people need to wait it out and see how the new DCCU does and what new sets it produces. For now, they're doing some cool 18+ and some good classic Batman sets, which are good enough in their own right, even if more sets would be nice to see for the theme.

DC is dark. If you are making sets/figs for DC, then you are likely making a character who has done awful things at some point in their comics history (See the Killing Joke, for one). I don't think that is LEGO's first thought with these so much as what is popular/known. That's why Joker is everywhere despite most people knowing him for him blowing up a hospital.

Appreciated. I think people are way too quick to presume that LEGO doesn't care about a theme in an almost personal way. Yes, there are designers who specifically want themes to appear, making it "personal", but even then, LEGO is concerned about profit. If DC isn't getting sets, it's because they don't view it as viable franchise for full waves based on data. The other side of this (Two-face) coin is that LEGO is also at the mercy of their licensors. For example, not to make this an Indy discussion, but all Thugee products seems to have disappeared from all company product waves for Indiana Jones products last year. That was very likely a Disney/Lucasfilm decision, not LEGO, and no matter how much they want to release a set for the ToD (they had one designed fully designed and a box art), it was not released. All that to say, if LEGO isn't releasing DC sets, it's not a personal attack on DC fans, or "terribly misunderstanding the market." LEGO made DC sets consistently, and now they don't. If you're making profit on DC sets, you DO NOT STOP LIKE THAT. Simply put. This isn't the solution to this "problem." It's not a see-saw in that regard. Yes, the one Super Heroes team is focusing more on Marvel right now because of viability, but Marvel disappearing doesn't suddenly make DC profitable. DC is profitable or it isn't. Only new movies, etc. could possibly swing that.

I think people are misunderstanding this. LEGO isn't trying to strangle DC. Odds are, at one point recently, DC did NOT do well, very likely in 2018 era where sets started to slow down, and LEGO works based on money. They made a few sets after, which must not have done well enough either. And so they decided to focus on old classics with adult interest, making less system sets for the theme and more adult 18+ sets to appeal to classic fans of DC. Alongside all of this, Marvel has been churning out more popular films with plenty of set opportunities, and so with having one team for both subthemes of superheroes, it makes FAR more sense economically for LEGO to focus on some Batmobiles for kids and 18+ sets for classic fans, and then make more system sets for the Marvel movies kids are attending with more consistency than "The Batman" or "Joker."

Obviously the only question from there is whether the head is the same, but I really doubt it will change... Also, I think it was also stated that the Luke was not the UCS one... Per Max Baut as well (though someone else should watch the video and make sure I'm noting this all correctly) -

Max Baut just released a video late this past week regarding the upcoming sets, and he confirmed Rex has the pauldron. -

Personally, I don't think the Dark Falcon will be around past 2025 unless it really exceeds expectations. It's a niche set to coincide with a Hasbro Dark Side thing, but it does not scream "long-term" to me in any regard. My guess is that this is just an interim Falcon, as LEGO has had the 2019 on shelves for a while, and they want to do something different before the next "normal" Millennium, which I'd assume will either release in 2025 for the ESB 45th anniversary, or in 2027 for the ANH anniversary - either of which would be the first fully OT Falcon since 2011. -

This is another situation where I think it really depends on rating and if LEGO wants to do indirect tie-ins or not. Because DD is likely going to be MA, I wouldn't expect direct sets for it. However, they could certainly put a comics Spidey set out or something that has at least DD and Kingpin. In this case the violence of DD as a show would more likely be the issue than the variety of other aspects that give pause when making toys of Deadpool's character. It's just really up to Disney/Marvel and LEGO whether they want to make toys of a TV-MA show. -

Lets expand on this, knowing LEGO... Small set - Mr. Fantastic - Basic Minifigure Version - with H.E.R.B.I.E. and small lab area - around 90 pieces, $10 Middle set - Invisible Woman and Human Torch (Flame on version - no regular version in the sets) with secondary villain and vehicle - around 300 pieces, $50 Big Set - Mr. Fantastic (long arms/stretch version), Invisible Woman (same as middle set), and The Thing with Fantasti-Car and secondary villain again- around 300 pieces, $90 Really expecting something like this if we get 3 sets. Edit: This is LEGO, they won't put the main villain in a set -

You're forgetting the obvious question in response: Why wouldn't they? There is literally nothing stopping LEGO in a wave where we are arguing about a figure in a Dark Falcon that is releasing alongside Jedi Bob's ship. It doesn't matter that they haven't done a single antagonist with a falcon in a while - they could this time. That's like saying "Why would they make a Jabba's Sail Barge UCS? They haven't done so before." At this point, I think it's best to wait and see what the figure(s) turn out to be. For all we know, the Gungan is the anniversary figure, or there's no anniversary figure at all and the anniversary figure is in the X-Wing - or something else entirely. Until we know more about the full lineups for either of these two sets, the conversation will just go in circles. -

My only concern with automatically going with this is that the fig and these symbols could be entirely preliminary, with those symbols being very basic compared to the megaphone, etc. on the other two. I would mainly trust the character description. It's possible the symbols stay the same, but if the fig is preliminary, anything there could be. -

I think part of the reason for the lack of figure polys is simply because LEGO can just throw them in sets and ultimately make more on them. If they release a fig polybag on May 4th, and people clamor for it for the 24 hours it ends up being around, making it a $300 fig on the aftermarket, how much more can LEGO make if they put it as an anniversary fig (or normal fig) in a $50-$90 set that sell exponentially more because of the minifigure over the course of 4 years of the set being on shelves. And as far as anniversary figs being in sets that they don't "go with," I would agree on this point. This is a way to make both CW and OT fans interested in this $55 set, and ultimately sell more. Economics 101. Demand, availability, etc. -

It's no different than Darth Vader in a red Christmas sweater, or a lot of the other holiday versions of figures. Have Thrawn with a Santa hat, a bag, and his white uniform can either have red accents, he could have a scarf, or his uniform could be reddish color. That being said, I don't think they would do that at least until the movies with him show up, if even then. -

Doing a Gondor soldier without any sets likely having such a solider would be very odd. Makes much more sense to do more main characters to fill out the fellowship. Wouldn't be surprised if there is either another unknown BH set that has more of the Fellowship, or at least more next year if the theme continues. -

LEGO has been doing larger vehicles as fig-scale UCS since the 2007 Millennium Falcon. Since then we have had the Crest, the Imperial Shuttle, the 2017 Falcon, the AT-AT, and the Slave 1, to name a few. This certainly isn't new for the theme, but it is nice to see another hopefully fig-scale set added to the lineup. Agreed on this, but the Ghost is much larger than the Falcon, so having a UCS would certainly be closer to $1k if not more for a fig-scale one with any semblance of interior. -

Correct. All of that is just information from the initial survey last February. I believe we know the set number (76294) thanks to @Falconfan1414, but that's all outside of survey leaks. -

This is just from the survey leak last year. Almost all info about the set that is around pretty much is. Don't think we know much beyond those initial descriptions/part counts, etc. -

Thing is, LEGO has never before advertised the full castle that sets could be combined with before all associated sets were released/revealed. This picture could certainly be a stock image of sorts, but I do think it gives a good impression of what is coming, even if they aren't final models of such. -

When I mentioned "warming up" to TFA, this is what I meant. I didn't intend to start a whole discussion like this, and I apologize. Essentially, I remember when the PT was viewed with so much more distaste, and now people are clamoring for so much from it (and that era). I have a feeling that eventually the same will happen to the ST, whether to the same degree or not we shall see.
