Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
mirkwoodspiders replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I've been thinking - what is the best way to inform LEGOs designers and decision-makers that the LOTR theme is something I and many others would really like to see expanded in their repertoire? This forum? Do they read things here? Twitter? Facebook? Just wondering is all. -

Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I'd be thrilled with those four. I think the fight scene at Marion's bar would be cool too, but I don't think LEGO would go for that. -

Delighted to hear the news about the Temple Escape model. 7623 Temple Escape was solid and only had 554 pieces, so 1,545 should allow for great detail in this set. I guess plenty of the extra pieces will be needed for the black base, but the details should be a little more screen-accurate than 7623. -

I'm wondering if Gringott's will be similar to 9516 Jabba's Palace and the compatible 75005 Rancor Pit. Not two different sets, just the same concept, where the lower level of vaults/tracks is its own removable portion of the bank. -

At one point I only collected Star Wars. Then, HP came back, so I said, "Ok, only Star Wars and HP." Then, sets like 1989 Batmobile, Titanic, Pirates of Barracuda Bay, etc. started coming out, and I thought, "Ok, only Star Wars, HP, and these once-in-a-generation sort of sets..." Now, here come LOTR, Indiana Jones, and GRINGOTT'S/lots of other solid HP offerings in 2023 like a freight train... it's getting untenable. My own fault for branching out so far into other sets and themes, of course, but LEGO needs to quit making so many interesting, well-designed sets -

jjpsleaksite shared a rumor on his insta of set 40623 titled "Heroes of the Battle of Endor" releasing 5/1. I hadn't heard of this yet... what in the world is it? Diorama? -

Yikes. Looking at the complete rumor list, the total cost for all 2023 HP sets - not including the ones without a rumored price - is $1,235. I'll be skipping many of them, like the brickheadz and house banners, but completionists are in for a rough year. I never hope for poor quality sets, but I wouldn't be upset if some were duds to make my choices of what to purchase easier. -

My thoughts exactly. I am really stoked for every set in this wave, even the Quidditch trunk and Dobby. -

We are now exactly 10 weeks from the D2C release - wow! Hopefully some minifigs begin to leak soon. -

This would be perfect. If only some of the people on this thread worked in the LEGO planning department! Seriously, I wonder if LEGO reads threads like this and takes note of what we say. I'm not sure our comments represent the wider LEGO fan base, but man I bet nearly every person writing on and following this thread would have little to no hesitation at buying up every set LEGO released if they did do a wave of system scale LOTR sets and a LOTR CMF series. -

Couldn't that just indicate a larger overall structure in general? Hogwarts and Rivendell are completely different subject matters. A castle that size lends itself to microscale for the full detail... Rivendell not so much I think. We'll see. -

Sure, not meaning to diminish excitement for the set at all. Just voicing what I happen to be most excited for. Judging from sets like Ewok Village, The Upside Down, Tree House, etc., and combined with design advances since those sets have been made, LEGO should do very well with the scenery of Rivendell, and I'm sure the architecture will be good as well. -

I wasn't able to get me hands on the previous sets at all. Glad to hear many others were, but having nothing from the previous line the figs are what have me really excited. Not that the build isn't fun to imagine, I'm just glad at a second chance for people like me who couldn't buy anything from the previous releases. -

I think the figs are what I'm most looking forward to. It's hard to envision what exactly the build will involve, making it a little difficult to get excited about it. Fewer than three months now. I'll start watching the extended editions of the films and by the time I'm done the set will be released. -

TIE Bomber looks great. The cockpit windshield looks ever so small in proportion to the pieces surrounding it, though. I can't wait for better pictures. -

Yep. Have to speak with our wallets. I have never bought a Brickheadz set before, but I am seriously considering buying all three of the rumored ones just to support the theme's comeback -

Not going to get excited about this or even mull it over until I've seen some other leakers/Promobricks or someone else verify the info about it being Rivendell. Nothing against the initial leaker, but it's only one person's info at this point. -

For some reason I've been assuming the D2C would be a fall release. I could see it being the big Black Friday set next year, with no huge Icons landmark buildings or other huge licensed D2Cs rumored yet. March or May would be great, though. The sooner we get to see this the better. -

It looks awesome. This will likely have to a be a set I get but have to store for decades until I move to a home with enough space to display lol. I wonder how much farther the boundary for piece count and height will be pushed. Not sure how much taller than 5 feet you can realistically go, but I would't be surprised if a non-art set goes even higher than 10,001 pieces.- 259 replies

Promobricks says the minifigure for the Eiffel's Apartment GWP isn't exclusive, FYI. It's Obi-Wan's head and Cedric Diggory's tux, with plain black pants and plain gray hair. That makes the GWP immensely less-appealing, personally.- 259 replies

It looks spectacular. I'm always surprised at how much bigger these sort of sets are in person than they look in photos. Imagine the difference for this one - it already looks gigantic in the box pic already. The Eiffel's Apartment will make it tempting to get on day 1.- 259 replies
