  1. looking forward to that scout trooper minifig dropping in price, at least I hope so
  2. One day a set with a stormtrooper will come out and we won't see a million comments about how it should have been the old helmet
  3. Yeah, of all the bad batch members Tech is the only one I'd say absolutely needed a new mould, his helmet is just too unique and different to anything we have ever seen before.
  4. If you want to drop this, stop acting superior to everyone you disagree with and that your opinion is fact.
  5. you can't say that like it's an objective fact, at the end of the day that's just your opinion. Sure, they could have been more accurate, but most people do not have an issue with the shortcuts being taken. Lego reused the shoretrooper helmet for tank troopers, even though they look extremely different. Lego reused the mudtrooper helmet for general veers, even though the goggles are completely different. Lego uses the exact same hood pieces for every single hooded character. Leia has used the same queen hairpiece for years, even though it has two buns at the back that Leia never had in the movies. At the end of the day, there are going to be workarounds. While they definitely could have done better, they did not do bad in the first place.
  6. I really think the fin isn't that big of a deal. It's like being upset that the General Veers helmet reused the imperial mudtrooper mould even though the goggles aren't the same shape.
  7. it seems the Bo-Katan minifig is dbg and normal blue instead of gun metal and dark blue like the pictures appeared to be. It still looks good but I'm a bit disappointed
  8. This is surprisingly very good, it retains much of the set's spirit while also being a great departure from one of its weakest elements. I am quite curious as to what that illegal technique you've invented is, you never know what else it could be useful for after all. The only thing I'd do differently is try and find a solution for the sides to get rid of those big curved slopes, they round off one of the ship's blockiest areas, and stick out like a sore thumb among all the amazing improvements you've made.
  9. Imperial Juggernaut $109.99 Build is of the Imperial Rhydonium Juggernaut from the Mandalorian Chapter 15. It features opening side doors, 10 wheels with suspension, and an opening hatch on top to reveal canisters of rhydonium. The cockpit would feature prints (or more likely, stickers) to represent the console monitoring the stability of the rhydonium, as well as two seats and a spot for Mayfeld's helmet. Other than rolling it around, the main play function would be a small lever or button that, when pushed, blows off sections of the walls on the rear side, allowing kids to recreate the many times these vehicles were seen exploding from their volatile cargo. And of course, there would be some form of stud shooters or spring loaded missiles. There would be a small side build of a pirate skiff. Minifigures include Din Djarin and Migs Mayfeld in their imperial disguises (a nice way to get the main character of the show in a different costume, since that's such a topic right now) an imperial shoretrooper, as well as two Morak Pirates, done similarly to the Raiders from the AT-ST where they reuse some parts but have a few prints and accessories setting them apart. I've based the figure count off of lego's most recent clone turbo tank, which had 6 figs, but 2 were battle droids. If lego were generous and threw in a sixth figure, I would say either Fennec Shand with a hairpiece, or (unlikely) Cara Dune. Weapons and accessories include 2 blaster pistols for Mayfeld and Din, a hair piece for Din (the whole episode was about him taking his helmet off), a blaster for the shoretrooper, a staff for one of the pirates and a spear for the other, a dark bluish grey messenger bag for one of the pirates, as well as two thermal detonator tiles.
  10. Let's keep this discussion about the sets and not the opinions on people at lucasfilm. I was really hoping the Trexler would be LBG but it ended up DBG. Not that it's inaccurate or anything, it's just going to be a bit harder to justify buying more than one of them like I had initially planned. I could probably use the DBG for rockwork or something. Anything to get more of the new stormies. Very pleased Cara Dune still ended up in the cruiser, prices for her minifig on the aftermarket should remain stable for now. Boba is great! I echo the sentiment about his helmet but I can look past it. 2 arm printed figures in a $50 set is amazing, but also sets a precedent. I can already hear people in every future wave complaining that such and such figure didn't get arm printing but $50 Boba Fett did Sorry if that's pessimistic of me, I just hope people will see this as the exception rather than the rule. Mandalorian duel is mandalorian duel. Don't particularly care for the scene or the characters so this one's an easy pass for me. Great that others will be able to get such a nice Maul for such a low price.
  11. This is fantastic! I love the shaping of the cockpit, even if it isn't enclosed I think it gets a much more accurate depiction than any existing windscreen piece. The little wires and dashes of red help to break up the monotony of greys, and the effect of the trans pink disks layered on top of the orange ones is very pleasing to the eye. The subtle sloping on the main wing is the icing on the cake for me.
  12. looking forward to the inevitable comments here about not buying the set just because of the inaccurate darth maul lightsaber
  13. and how many of these characters are actually relevant? I could sit here and complain about how we haven't gotten admiral motti, general tagge, nien nunb, derek klivian, moff jerjerod, force ghosts, Peekpa, Romba, Widdle Warrick, Wunka, unnamed ewoks 4, 11, 8, and 13, BoShek, Sy Snootles... you get the idea. The truth is, most of these characters are not at all memorable or appealing to the key demographic (children), and most of them do not show up in scenes that lend themselves nicely to being playsets. If they do, they would be based on scenes that don't include these characters because they are not the scenes kids will associate that location with because there are far better ones. Lego isn't going to make a galactic senate set based on episode one with chancellor valorum and 10 senators, because that would sell terribly. If they were to do it, it would most certainly be based on Yoda and Palpatine's duel, maybe being lucky enough to include Mas Amedda.
  14. minus the AT-OT, these were all far less expensive sets than a $100+ UT-AT. With the case of the FO Scout Walker, it was based on concept art for The Last Jedi that never made it through to the final cut, much like Kylo Ren's grey vertical-winged shuttle. Sets like the AT-AP, Droid Gunship, Turbo Tanks, and Catamaran were done to recreate the battle of Kashyyyk, which is by far the most prominent ground battle in the prequel films aside from Geonosis and maybe Utapau, both of which can be recreated through the various gunship and AT-TE sets that have been put out over the years. The AT-OT was a case of lego needing something for their dropship to carry, and having put out an AT-TE just one year prior, they went with the next closest thing and made the dropship compatible with the AT-TE as well. They were most likely designed around the same time because of this compatibility, but lego probably figured the AT-TE would sell better on its own than with the dropship since that set ended up being $250. I would go so far as to say the AT-OT is only really known because of that set, and had they released just an AT-OT it would not sell very well.
  15. I see this one pop up a lot, and I think that it's kinda clear why it hasn't been made. The vehicle was in Revenge of the Sith for half a second in a nothing scene, 99% of the audience didn't notice it and wouldn't know what it is if you showed them a picture. Sure, a prototype was made, but they probably left it as a prototype for that exact reason. It's too big and costly so it would be at a high price, and nobody would recognize it enough to shovel over that much money
  16. If you don't buy the set then yes, it won't be selling. You shouldn't be deciding whether or not to shovel over $200+ based on 1 minifigure, especially granted that it's a display set not even to the same scale as that figure. I feel as though we're chasing our own tails at this point, discussing the same topics from months ago with no new points.
  17. Maybe that's why they didn't call the bad batch shuttle the Havoc Marauder. I'm pleasantly surprised they went with Trexler Marauder
  18. It is what it is. They're already very small and not super noticeable if you're not looking for them, much moreso than the previous rendition. I have no doubt that this change will look excellent.
  19. am I correct in thinking that making the wings slightly pointier will also reduce the size of the gaps above and below the main horizontal spoke?
  20. I think the most obvious change for 3.0 would be an opening hatch, which may or may not be easier without the 3x3 domes, depends on what you come up with to round it out instead. That's really my only gripe with this updated TIE, since you were able to close up those gaps on the wings that stuck out on the first version.
  21. it was probably to avoid having to change the 17 year old snowspeeder design, the regular pilot helmets already have to lean back quite a bit to get inside of those
  22. I was thinking the same thing! I still think it looks excellent in yellow though. Glad to see people are STILL complaining about the Stormtrooper helmet mold at every opportunity If the leaks are true and this comes with the mortar trooper and 2 regular stormies I may have to pick up one or even two of these, the Greef Karga fig comes with some excellent prints for custom figs, very star wars-y
  23. Rebel starfighters bundle from brickvault
