  1. the whole system is actually fine, i powered it with a buggy motor gearbox and there were no cracking gears, even when I drove it into a corner, which forced off the tape on the sidewall of the tire and rims. I also agree that powering the top sprocket wouldn't be that effective, I just put it there for tension
  2. Yes, and so far im just gonna shove a geared xl motor inside it because i havent figured out a reliable deployment mechanism yet

  4. I do intend to lift up the vehicle and have since changed to pneumatics. I dont have an io file as of now, but there will be one in the future. Im not entirely sure, but a large linkage system like the one you describe would likely not be possible with the bounds space that i have available because of the fact it is on a bogey and there is a driveshaft directly behind it. I will definitely send an io file once i make it if you would like to try something though
  5. i have tested it extensively, the only problem is the motors get smelly
  6. im trying to run a model that is about 250g so far, and testing it with different motors. every motor I've tested, has smelled bad nearly instantly after connecting it to the driveshaft. The gear ratio is 15:1 through a series of many 12, 20 and 24 tooth gears. is there a solution to this? i tested m motors, xl motors, L motors, and buggy motors, both with a buwizz and with a normal lego batter box to the same effect.

Seeing this, this leads me to think there may be a website or program that you can plot a path and give some restraints then have the program solve the linkage lengths... im no good at this sort of math yet so ill look for my self in the mean time edit: found this, gonna try it tomorrow.https://blog.rectorsquid.com/linkage-mechanism-designer-and-simulator/
  10. How would I achieve motion like in this video:https://streamable.com/0t41k3 ? I already have a mockup on the side but i doubt it will be strong enough to lift the model, so i will likely need to get some more large linear actuators. Anyways, i would just like to know if anyone knows a way to make a linkage that can move in such a way shown in the video
  11. I’m trying to get green gecko‘s v8 engine to run after buying his instructions, but it runs very feebly. It turns over with modified cylinders and sort of starts then slows down repeatedly. If Any knowledgeable people that can assist me would help I would greatly appreciate it. I do have a hypothesis however. My idea the switch less valve is somehow built wrong somehow because it’s very complex, but I still think it is unlikely because the engine turns over although very slowly
  12. Yeah I tried integrating the female cv into the whole thing but the tolerances were just too annoying without a resin printer. You should be able to view those parts in any way you like if you open them in any 3D viewing software (there are some built into windows like paint 3D and windows 3D viewer)

  14. When you say middle, do you mean at the midpoint between the joints on the side? Because if you put it in the center it won’t turn at all.
  15. I got the steering joints strong and connected, but I'm having a very hard time getting the steering to even remotely function. If anyone can find a real-world example of a steered bogey, I would love to see it. Here is my progress: I have printed a 4L track rod so that making this thing steered is actually possible. I was thinking something similar to the mechanism used in pushrod suspensions would work, but all of them begin to turn away before they make a large enough forward movement. here is my .io file for studio if anyone wants to take a look at it:https://www.mediafire.com/file/px5fq079ynwwdas/dog-e.io/file
  16. so for the first part, Thanks for pointing that out, I had the bottom part on backwards, and now the only way for it to come apart is if the red pins come out and there will be no force to push them out save for the entire black piece breaking. As for the second part, the bogey setup I have is able to be toggled between powered and neutral for the model to have the ability to lift itself up. This required ALOT of bracing and a few gears so there is some resistance on the bogey itself. The Tatra swing arms provide absorption of smaller bumps as well as increasing the ground clearance, since it is a fairly wide axle at this point.

  18. Yeah that is my idea. That way I don’t pivot around the gears and it brings the pivot point closer to the wheel.
  19. I had the idea to make pivots after the black u frames. If I steered the entire bogie then it would drag the tires a lot and take up a lot of space when turned

  21. does anyone know where I can look for a steered tandem bogey suspension with the servo on the bogey and Tatra suspension on the tips? I cant put the steering back through the turntable due to space limitations. here is a screenshot to see a bit better what I have already and what I mean: you could stuff 2 gears inside a wider smaller tire then it becomes a pretty resistant linear clutch
