LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

For TESB you could add Admiral Ozzel and Captain Needa. Trying to think of any Rogue Group pilots who had dialog but no minifig. Hobbie Klivian? -

Another option would be in the next MF reissue, which could line up nicely with the ROTJ 40th anniversary and do a ship with Nien Nunb and General Lando. Having said that, I'd much prefer the B-wing option as this is a ship that is definitely due for a rerelease and wouldn't mean putting a desirable fig in a more expensive model. -

Looking at the box photo for the X-Wing - the front landing gear is clearly visible with the ship in flying mode. No retractable landing gear? Maybe this was one of the concessions made in getting the size/part count down (or that's just how the model was posed for the photo). -

I'm loving the look of the X-wing, looks really good for the piece count and the figure selection is great. Not totally sold on the new nose design but it's not the worst thing. The TIE I feel could have been maybe a bit taller in the wings and slightly wider for each side strut. Not sure if that would be any better for the proportions but right now it looks stunted. Maybe it'll shape up better in person or next to other ships. Like others I wish TLG had done a re-colour on the ball joint but it's really interesting to read about how the colour choices affects the properties of the pieces. The set that is disappointing is the MF microfighter in that it's a straight up release without breaking any new ground, but I guess the plan was to tie in with the OT theme and have figs for all of the main trio available in this wave. It's only a small thing and was easily changeable via Bricklink in the past but I like how the laser bolts for the TIE are now green. Also, wondering if Leia will come with alternate white legs like in the Tantive IV (again, easy to find on BL). -

Great set! As others have said - baby Yoda in affordable set: tick, Beskar Mando: big tick. Lego has been on a bit of a Tatooine/Tusken thing lately. I actually like the tent, it reminds me of the Tusken section in KOTOR. Now if instead of the ballista we got a Bastila... -

Late to the party, just got the Boba Fett helmet. Was a very interesting build in how it achieves all the different angles and contours of the helmet. Probably the SNOTiest thing I've ever built . As someone who grew up with Lego in the 80s I don't think I'll ever get used to the use of random coloured bricks for interior work. I get that it makes the instructions easier to follow (and gives a range of different colours for MOC building), I'm just used to mono colour interiors rather than the technicolour wonderland underneath the green and dark red helmet. One thing I found odd with the build was how it would occasionally use two small plates where one large plate would do the same job i.e. two 1x3 plates instead of a single 2x3 plate. It only happened a handful of times so it's not like it's being done to pad the piece count, just something I haven't seen before in other builds. -

I'm definitely looking forward to it also. Partially because I don't have the 2018 X-Wing but also the more I see the more recent X-Wings next to say the 2017 Y-Wing, the X-Wings look enormous. Or maybe the Y-Wing is just too small. -
Following along from this, look at tROS sets that put Finn with the Sith TIE, or a Knight of Ren with Poe's X-Wing. Correlation between a fig and the set they're packaged with seems to have gone out the window, so the good news should that be anythings possible. I feel a semi-circle arena would work just as well, partially to keep piece count down, but more that most of the action occurs on the arena floor and it could be better to keep that area open and accessible with the stands as a backdrop. Anakin and Padme's chariot could enter from the left side of the stands and the balcony with Nute Gunray, Dooku, Jango etc. on the right. A problem with such a set is that while the stands are necessary to give shape to the arena, not a lot happens there, and you're going to need a LOT of Geonosians to make it look not empty. Maybe the Geo warrior pack could be a regular BP to make this possible.

Sorry, was trying to give an idea about how such a release could have worked. I should have said 'now that the MBS set has retired'.

I'd like to see a stand alone release of a Cloud Car in any colour - orange preferably but red works ok too. Apart from its inclusion in the Cloud City set the last time there was a playscale version of this craft was in 2002. I understand TLG wouldn't want the Cloud Car on shelves at the same time as BACC but it could be released say 18 months later/any time after the MBS set retires. This could also apply to the V35 landspeeder after Mos Eisley retires.

Either Vader with Moff Jerjerrod and some stormtroopers or the Emperor with royal guards would be good figure selections and set it apart from the Shuttle Tydirium model. -

All the ships look good, especially the X-Wing. The folding mechanism could be a rotating tab, or perhaps a side to side slider. Either would be better than the front to back slider and close off that space behind the cockpit better. I'm not sold on the nose design, looks a bit bulbous compared to the rest of the ship, will wait until the full view of the model is revealed. I like that the spring loaded shooters are only on the bottom wings - I know they are de rigueur on all LSW ships but it's always better when they aren't as prominent. Like others, I'm not liking those ball joints on the TIE, not sure why hinge pieces weren't used there, maybe the spacing is too small? If the tow ball is necessary this would have been the perfect opportunity to produce that part in light bley instead. One side effect of this cheaper TIE is it should make those printed cockpit and insignia pieces cheaper and easier to find on BL, definitely a plus for Interceptor and Bomber builders! For the shuttle, that build under the cockpit looks odd, but with the white lip on the front of it, I wonder if it's some type of ramp that can be pushed up into the underside of the cockpit. And that central fin looks incredibly tall but does scale well with the side wings, maybe the photo dimensions have been stretched. $50 usd is now about $70 aud, so probably around $80 rrp, hopefully not more than $90! -

The Han from the 20th anniversary Slave 1 goes well with the 75257 Falcon. It does cost considerably more than a microfighter though (but is a very nice set). -
Lego should do Star Wars collectible mini figures
MaximillianRebo replied to Jimalaya's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hoth Chewie would be a great fig to include if there was ever a remake of the Hoth Attack set (or something similar with Han, Chewie and the Probe Droid). It's only one brief scene in the film but gives a different appearance to a figure who is basically the same iteration in almost every single set, much like the mud splattered R2 in Yoda's Hut.- 49 replies

I'd say Kylo's Shuttle would be the first choice for a sequel UCS set (with Resistance Bomber a close second). It's one of the few sequel ships that has a new design compared to OT movies and seems to be fairly popular as a playscale set.

Happy to hear about the Tauntaun microfighter as I was hoping TLG would continue this trend following on from the Bantha and Dewback. Regarding the X-Wing / TIE news, I crunched some numbers on previous sets. Just looking at Red 5 X-Wings, the new ship is rumoured to be 474 pieces. In contrast the 2018 model was 731 pieces, 2012 560 pieces and 2006 437 pieces. Piece wise I could see it being doable, the question is will the lower piece count mean a reduction in size or detail? I doubt TLG would make up the shortfall with bigger pieces at the rumoured price point. It's the old conundrum of size/detail/price - pick two. I'm not fussed about minifig scale, just having most ships scaling to each other - the Falcon gets a pass for example as it basically has to be UCS size to scale to other system scale fighters. I really like the Solo TIE but it dwarfs other comparable ships (519 pieces in this model compared to a rumoured 432), so it will be interesting to see how the new one looks. There's often talk about redesigns of helmet molds and how they do/don't fit with older figs, maybe this is an attempt by TLG to reset the scale of their smaller fighters going forward. On a side note, maybe such a down-scaling could open the door for a TIE Bomber in this potential new scale in the future. -

Looks great, but more than I can afford. Tempted to part out that V-35 though. Has a Classic Space feel to it - not surprising given the 70s era designs. -
Unpopular Opinions related to Lego Star Wars
MaximillianRebo replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Personally I don't get the appeal of army building. If you have plans to build a big battle setting that makes sense, but a lot of the time it seems to be just rows upon rows of figures lined up on baseplates. Maybe it's because I don't have a huge amount of money to spend on Lego so I'd rather get a variety of what's available rather than umpteen of the same box.- 127 replies

I really like the Kamino Clash set - perfect setting to get these figures and encapsulating the build of this location. Even though the Slave 1 is copied from the CC set it would still be a great way to get the ship in this scale at a more accessible price. Also liking the Scarif Battle Pack, two Scarif troopers and one Stormtrooper would be the better option, but I'm sure Lego would go the other route if a pack like this was produced.

Apparently the 4+ snowspeeder (75268) is a better scale size-wise to the AT-AT. -
What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?

Got the T-16 Skyhopper vs Bantha microfighter recently and thought the Bantha build was awesome so I bricklinked the Dewback build to go along with it.
