I have no issue with them using the happy & hopeful finale type scene for this set. If they went with the ghosts people would complain about which one of the three scenes they chose to depict. I think this is definitely more in keeping with the general feel good, uplifting vibe most want in a holiday set. While the ghosts would be interesting it would be kind of creepy as a one off holiday gift.

I really like this set. Curious what the buy in to get the GWP will be. At first glance I thought it was HP. I've got a bunch of big sets on my wishlist currently. Here's hoping they are still in stock when this set becomes available.

Disney Princesses 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
karrit replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I know it isn't Disney Princess but I'm still waiting for A Lilo & Stitch House and/or Spaceship. -
So I got my full box of CMF's today. Got 8 Hermoine but 0 Harry. I'm a bit bummed as I wanted a few of Harry mostly for the book. It's really bizarre how some cases follow the same assortment & some get an off count of some figures. I don't know if I'm the first one who didn't get even one complete set out of the box. All the other figures match the count pattern correctly. The box was in a sealed outer LEGO box through a third party so I don't suspect it was tampered with. I've contacted the dealer to see if we can work out an exchange.

REVIEW: 71028 LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter Series 2
karrit replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
My full box had 8 Hermoine's but no Harry's. Had a hard time telling Ginny from Hermoine by feel. First figure I tried was Ginny but another one was mixed in with my stack of Hermoine. -
If I remember correctly the wands that came with the Series 1 CMF's were made differently that the ones that came in the first wave of sets. Some people thought the ones with the CMF's were made better than the others since they were easier to place in the hands. I've noticed that they do come out easier. Just went through a bunch I have in a box & several of the wands were loose in the box.

As one who never bought any of the original waves of sets I look forward to whatever they give us. I'm currently sorting through bulk auction purchases that include parts of the old Diagon Alley, and the Hogwarts sets from 2010-2011. I've even found some of the minifigs or parts of them and several animals including all 3 owls. I may have to order the missing minifig parts for some but figure I can use some of the newer ones in their place. I really like some of the smaller builds from the original run from early-mid 2000's but the current secondary market prices are ridiculous & I really would rather stick with the flesh toned minifigs at this point. While some of these smaller builds have been replicated to some degree as rooms in current larger builds I'm all for getting more common areas & classrooms full of potions, creatures & such. Any opportunity to get some generic students especially for the other houses is also welcome. While it's possible that some of the original sets can't be topped for those of us who are new collectors of the HP line it's all fair game. I like how they are doing different portions of the castle rather than one cost prohibitive large set. For those who've collected all along I guess it's a bit like the SW line where too many remakes of the same ships & locations gets tiresome. I have many of the original SW sets so on the rare occasion I buy new ones I sometimes wonder why I bothered. Most of the new SW sets have no appeal to me so I rarely buy them anymore & the ones I really want are so expensive I much rather buy the HP stuff now. I still need a version of the Forbidden Corridor, Durmstrang Ship, Merpeople, Shrieking Shack, Chamber of Secrets and all the small sets from the earlier releases. Considering it's been almost 15 or more years for most of them I think any new releases would be welcomed by most of us due to all the newer building techniques & parts available now.

I really like the Idea that if the books do well we might see some others down the road. I was thinking we need a Divination one with Trelawney and how many different Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers have there been? A different one every year I believe and each was a major character for that year. The theme behind this group is the Houses & their heads but there is no reason not to expand on the general theme with other instructors. To me if a character/teacher appeared in the movie I wouldn't necessarily call them minor. If we expect a version of any of the named students there should be versions of all the instructors too.

I'm liking the idea of these book sets but I hope they keep using the traditional minifigs. I was going to get the Disney ones until I saw the weird figures they went with. Since I missed out on the original HP sets I welcome the chance to get classroom builds. Trying to translate the promobricks article on my tablet is impossible so until I get to my laptop I have no idea what it says. If these end up being as interesting as they sound I hope they continue making sets along these lines for other classroom scenes & the house common rooms. Reminds me a bit of the small Ninjago sets & the Friends hearts & cubes sets they've made the past few years only bigger.

It's finally here! One big puncture hole in the outer box that didn't cause any damage since it was toward the end where the BrickHeadz box was. Crease in the middle of the top edge of the set box but not something I'm going to bother to make a fuss about. It isn't any where near as bad as the Bookstore I got last month was. I need to clean up the mess from the auction lots I'm sorting of old Hogwarts Buildings & other parts before I can start to build this one. Just got e-mail from USPS they expect to deliver my box of CMF's on Monday.

Still waiting, Should be here any second, minute, hour now. Sometime today anyway.

I'm hoping we get an older version of Seamus at some point since we've gotten several variants of Neville & Luna. Also think they should give us some form of Crabbe & Goyle, I think a polyjuice version would be ideal. I think I've found their hair pieces in the auction lots I bought but no heads or torsos for them. Rewatching the movies over the past few weeks there are quite a few students of different ethnicities, so it would be nice if they would expand on the Student packs to fill in some voids. I guess what I'd really love would be a create your own random Hogwarts minifigures pack with a bunch of different heads, hands, torsos, etc. so we could create several random students for the different houses in their sweaters, robes & quidditch uniforms. I'd probably buy at least 20 of those if they sold them.

I think I'm going to need a separate storage container for all the extra wands at this point. I even search through the older ones I have stashed away before I break a new one off to see if I already have the color in my loose extras.

I always wait until December first to start opening my Advent calendars. It gives me something to look forward to each day leading up to Christmas. Last year I had the Star Wars one from the previous year that I had purchased on clearance to open & even that one waited until December. I have another copy of last year's HP one to open this year along with the new one.

Just got an update from Fedex that they will be delivering my Diagon Alley tomorrow. Also received notice that my box of CMF's is shipping so should get them sometime next week, hopefully early in the week.
-
Can we please just let it go now? I chose not to respond any further after the unwarranted attacks on my innocent off hand comment about maybe purchasing something to tide me over. To be called ungrateful & whiney & spoiled doesn't warrant a response from me. Enough said. And thanks to those who tried to defend me.

Mine is still showing delivery by 9/11 phooey! But I am getting a delivery of parts from B&P today so I'll have something to sort through at least. I need to order a few flesh toned heads to make some generic students now. I backed off an auction lot last night that appeared to have a bunch of old HP set pieces because with the outrageous shipping it was getting a little too expensive for my budget and also looked like half was a bunch of vehicles & other non Harry Potter stuff. Still working my way through the last two boxes I won which appear to have a lot of the previous version of the castle & bridge minus most of the figures although there was a complete McGonagall and all three owls and 3 old style Dementors with one cape.

You don't need to be so rude!

My shipping has now been updated to delivery on Friday instead of Tomorrow. Was supposedly in Chicago as of 2 hours ago. Knowing Fedex it could sit there for a day or two before moving on. I may need to go buy something else now to tide me over.

I finally got my shipping notice from FedEx. Still showing mine should be delivered on Tuesday. As if the impending snow storm wasn't enough we now have a huge forest fire about 50 miles away that doubled in size overnight Saturday into Sunday that is raining down ashes all over our city as well as the rest of the county and the smoke covers pretty much the whole eastern side of Colorado. Visibility is awful due to the smoke & ash.

Yes, I'm in Loveland. So I expect to get some snow since Estes Park is estimated to be getting possibly a foot of snow according to last night's weather report. Happy soon to be Birthday. I still haven't gotten my Birthday present yet. Mine was in June but none of the sets I wanted were released until these past few weeks due to the whole covid thing. Trying to decide on the Creator Pirate Ship or Hidden Side Castle. Also the rest of this new HP wave since the only one I have so far is Room of Requirements.

I finally just got my shipping notice for DA about 20 minutes ago. According to FedEx, which hasn't even picked it up yet, it is currently scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. So mine should arrive during what is predicted to be our first freeze & big snowstorm of the year and it isn't even fall here yet. It's going to be 99 degrees here today & several inches of snow at some point on Tuesday.

I got the same email last night. At this rate we'll be lucky if it shows up before the end of next week. Just hope it doesn't end up changing to out of stock then going to a 60 day backorder like my book store did.

Got mine ordered. Cashed in VIP points for a $100 discount. Picked up the Advent Calendar in my local Walmart earlier today. Waiting on the other sets to go on sale somewhere or another good GWP from LEGO in the near future.

Don't wait until Midnight west coast time. Pretty much every one of these has released at midnight east coast time for the entire country, usually goes live a few minutes before.
