Thank you kindly, "Waterbrick Down". I just would like to know exactly in what ways I am steering away from the stereotype? I am really interested in knowing this. It's a good point that you brought up and that we should keep in mind, though, that we are, for the most part I am sure, not the characters we portray in the RPG and to remember that annoying Monks may have really nice puppeteers.

I won't burn you out the stake, but I have a wicked mind full of other devious torture methods. I don't mind the inclusion of the Elves at Helm's Deep, neither how Arwen plays a fairly major part in the movie, whereas in the book she is, more or less, just casually mentioned. I don't mind the big cataclysmic endings to movies, but it seems almost too normal. It's great for all the orcs and every bad thing to die when Sauron falls, but...then what? I guess I think about all these things. The Scouring of the Shire was just such a pleasant battle scene at the end of the book. The whole while they are put in the midst of these horrible battles and pull out by the skin of their teeth, but then at the end they have this sweet, simple, very shire-like battle. I honestly think though, that it would have been a bit odd to have included it in the movie since movies like to end with a "bang!" Am I making sense in this post or does it just seem like random thoughts?

It actually has nothing to do with lions. Nor are there any lions in it. Sweet relief though. However, I do run a lot on inspiration, so the lion may be just waiting to happen.

"Pardon me, I couldn't quite hear you. Perhaps I'm a little short on hearing. What did you say again?" -
Heroica RPG - Quest #24 Hunt for the Draugr
Palathadric replied to Capt.JohnPaul's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I am already down, and almost out!" I shout back. "What!?! Is a man slain these days for telling the truth? If I die, at least, I will die a martyr for the right cause. The cause of truth. I spoke know lie. I know sporting when I see it. I know a lack of vir...virtue, when I see it." -
The things some people notice. Another really good MOC Tazmaniac!

Dr Rod's Nocturnus Embassy in Hykerbia, Mitgardia.
Palathadric replied to Dr Rod's topic in Guilds of Historica
The roofing is really cool on this MOC. It looks really authentic. I also really appreciate the red bricks around the windows and the windows themselves also look really good somehow. Good lighting effects! -
This is a great embassy. The roof, especially looks fantastic. The top of the tower reminds me a bit of Orthanc. Very impressive. I like all the trappings you made around the place. It looks like a building that the locals of Mitgardia would appreciate admiring from afar, but would not want to get to close too. I like the footprints in the snow.

This is a very impressive MOC. Would like to see a couple more pictures though from different angles. -
Sorry about your computer, mate. Hope it gets up and running soon.

True. I suppose it's different for each person. I do find it difficult sometimes in Anno when I am fighting a battle and trying to keep up to date on that, and then an enemy attacks one of my supply lines and the people start complaining. In that way, turn-based games can be better.

I just saw it now! It would be tough though, and we will have to use a lot more character talk and background than there presently is, at least, I think. She doesn't have to approve. She doesn't have to know. Speaking of cliches: Mine is "The King of the Beasts."

Wow! This is a tough call. Would have to give it to the book though, because the "Scouring of the Shire", was my favourite part and they left it out of the movie entirely. Well, no, that's not the only reason. I actually, believe it or not, only read the book after watching the movie. I just could never get my hands on the book before then, although I was hunting for it. The movie was done really well though, for the most part, but there are some things that are a bit disappointing.

Your Lego table/ work station

I use my bedroom floor. Always the floor. And Captain Blackmoor, I totally understand the feeling of wanting to head straight to bed, but having to dodge though the Lego. -
Heroica RPG - Quest #24 Hunt for the Draugr
Palathadric replied to Capt.JohnPaul's topic in The Heroica Archive
As Alisha darts past me, I whack her on the head with my cross in reply. Unfortunately, for me, I am not actually able to reach her. My cross just misses her head, and the force (as if I had any) of the blow, sends me kissing the dirt beneath me. I look up (just in time or too late, I don't know?) just as one of the raiders rushes at me. After the first round of blows are exchanged, I shout over at Alisha, "I saw you examining his shiny golden arrow!" -
Why wouldn't it effect us? Our level is cut in half, just like a person at level 3's power will also be cut in half. Why did you mention Monk Pretzel in particular? There are several other level 1 fellows around. Oh, he must be famous! Perhaps it's because he has kept his #1 status for so long, despite being in a quest. I wonder, is it a good thing? So is Monk Pretzel the bug or the rat, I wonder? Furthermore, ha! Already have won one battle indeed, not by the way it's looking here.

Heroica RPG - Quest #24 Hunt for the Draugr

OOC: Please can somebody tell Monk Pretzel this, in character. IC: I think I'm getting through to them, I think excitedly. -
I got one impulse set for my birthday and one for Christmas and that was it. Every time I would dream of something grand and glorious like "King Kahuka's Throne" or something "huge" like "Armada Flagship," but never got anything like that. However, when I got over ten I was able to throw whatever money I earned in as well to get something slightly bigger. One Christmas I found the "Chief's Tepee" for dirt cheap and, with all my savings up until then, was able to buy two of them. I never owned set with a bigger than 16 x 32 baseplate. Seems like we were in a similar boat, if you will.

Somebody should write a book from all of the Heroica quests and other history and things. Or maybe one short story for each quest and then woven together. I would do it, but I think it would distract me from my current project which is exactly something that I do not want to do right now. Especially as I've managed to stick to it well for such a long time now.

I've only ever play Civ IV. Did not find it too interesting though. It's okay, but I much prefer Anno or Age of Empires. I guess the movement in turns instead of free play I do not find so exciting. It's okay, but I kind of figure that if you're going to do that than you may as well play a board game. I honestly prefer board games, despite the computer games being a lot more interesting and detailed, because I can play them with others, whereas my internet connection will never let me play a computer game online with other players. Way too slow.

Wow! Good editing blackpyre. You caught a lot of things that I did not. This is quite a good work you've got going though Poison Ivy. Maybe I will post some of my own work sometime, so that I too can be critiqued.

I have the same problem. I start a project and all is good and well, but so many new ideas kind of come and croud it out and then over time I begin thinking that that was a stupid project, and then, still later, I chide myself for stopping. Sometimes, I will even go back and write a bit more, but the second round usually does not last long. However, more recently, I have been able to discipline myself to stick more to the project that I've been working on. Although, still more recently, EB has been eating out a lot of my writing time. Anyhow, my current book is over 330 pages. Containing over 190,000 words. In over 30 chapters. So, it shows that I have been sticking to this for a while.

Ha! I really like how this one looks like a real haven for the people of Nocturnus in the midst of Avalonia! The building is very nice too and definitely has a sort of mystic/imposing atmosphere. Should take a shot at night!

Heroica RPG - Quest #24 Hunt for the Draugr
Palathadric replied to Capt.JohnPaul's topic in The Heroica Archive
"But shhh, not too loud just yet," I (Monk Pretzel, I suppose I will use first person from now on, unless I forget) whisper to Daxus. "We want to make them feel that they are doing us a favour by not fighting us to encourage whatever good side they have in them. If they turn their backs on the good and turn to evil, than we can use the power of fear over their hearts." "It may be presumptious of me, but I believe they are 'sporting' behind that building. Are there no virgins and none chaste upon the face of this world!" I turn to Daxus, "You had better not go yet. Five well-armed soldiers against a boy and an old man can never be a fair fight, especially seeing that the old man had been KO'ed already twice today. If they got themselves into trouble they will have to get themselves out of it, unless we all retreat for now and go and meet up with them. That is, possibly, the better choice."
