Heroica RPG - Quest #69: The Hook on the Other Hand
Palathadric replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
Oh, I thought it was just the decision of whether we let them go or not. I hope this Wolfgang rep won't prevent me from getting on Town Watch quests. "The longer we delay in rooting out what we can, the longer it has time to strengthen its roots and prepare its defenses. I see what you are saying, but ensure that your delay in taking action does not become a failure to take action at all. Perhaps the 'dirtying of our hands' is the killing of them. I can understand letting the Reds go, and possibly even their snotty commander, but the slug. Seriously, what good can he do to anyone. I swear that this is not the last we heard from this bunch. At least a few of them will be back to bite the hand of mercy we offered them." "The difference between us and the Wolfgang is that they are preying on the weak and helpless while we are protecting them. We are doing right, they are doing wrong. They have no desire, as they have clearly stated numerous times, to change their ways, so we do let them live to terrorize other communities? It is pointless to have heroes if heroes don't solve problems but merely relocate the problem to a different place, where the heroes will still have to go back to again. The only peoples whose lives had been changed are those of the gnomes, perhaps the Reds as well, but that is yet to be seen. If people are unwilling to change and remain permanently stuck in their ways of murder, plunder, and whatever other fellonies, then there is no point in hoping that they will change. Perhaps if they redoctrinated that is one thing, but letting them go off, is no way to redoctrinate them." I turn as Mr. Moke gets up and heads back down the sewer. "Just give me a moment..." I use my Magnificent Microscope to scan the area for any missed loot, and then Dig with my Shovel. -

Awesome. Well, if others don't think it's overpowered, then I'm in full support. Can't wait to see what Sandy thinks of it. -

I turn to the others. "Are these really the kind of people you want to be associated with? Do you think they would have spared us if we had lost to them. Hell, no! They would've left us for dead and swooped on the gnome village, destroying it all," I growl out bitterly. "Maybe some bastard heroes who align themselves with your organization offer their services to any who will hire, but some of us are still honourable and respectable. Maybe before you complain of corruption, you should think about who is spreading it out. It's easy for someone to present a solution to a problem they themselves knowingly created, perhaps you should think about that before you go back and continue your wolf-worship." "They are defeated and gone, hopefully forever. You are in good hands, friend. Your village is liberated." I see if Mr. Moke is in need of healing. I'm assuming Erik can sign up for Wolfgang rep if Myrddyn wants it for him? -

Sorry, I still don't follow the overheal. If an ally has 20 health remaining out of thirty, and I heal him for thirty health, he gets 50? -

I suddenly feel very alone. The druid and the elf won't stand for what's right, the vampire has no love for goodness and rightness, and Erik is too soft-hearted to do what's necessary when the time calls for it, I sit down and pass the time digging. What is the point of being a member of an upright organization when that organization's members are far from upright? "How did it feel to succumb to the blows of one whom you call 'creaky and arthritic'?" "You expect us to believe that they just offered you the gold?!?" -
Used to get this all the time.

Do we have to leave them alive as a group? I kept the Reds alive for the purpose of giving those who want it reputation. "Numbers are nothing if speed is against them." "Supporting criminals is in itself criminal. Do you promise to give up your criminal life of supporting those who tyrannize the helpless or not?" I demand. -

Well, I don't know if they should be able to use all those weapons, perhaps I don't understand the overheal properly also, and the 1st roll... a lucky priest would be devastating. They also have special mirror, which is awesome. -
I love Jeaux's idea with the flies. Making the best out of nothing really.
-
Not really, although I'm getting better. Thanks for managing things while we were away. ... ....Even though you knocked out Pretzel. Although, thinking about it, this is the perfect chance for Pretzel to go Shaman. I just don't know if I want him to.

Wow! This is perfect for Pretzel. You don't know how much I want to play this class, but I think it's overpowered. By the way: 5 is regular damage and 6 is special mirror, right? -
Heroica RPG - Quest #69: The Hook on the Other Hand

Sorry guys, I was sick yesterday, some of the day before and some of today. We also didn't have electricity. I should be okay now, unless I get a relapse. And, great, first time Pretzel's been knocked out since Quest 24, if I can recall well. I kept telling myself to remind you, but I always forgot when I was posting. I've been keeping track of the drops thus far and who's gotten what and who's contributed what to the battles, but this last battle threw me off, so give me some time to get myself organized. We can go ahead and I'll distribute the loot whenever I get around to organizing my file. Vash, are you planning on holding onto the muckraker? Also, I don't recall if you picked up anything else this battle, but I suppose I will look over that as well. Just let me know what you'll hold onto. I rise up and rub my head. Bad business this. The feeling is almost new to me. It's certainly been a while. Even in battles harder than this one, I had never quite suffered like this. I struggle to my feet to hear their leader spluttering out: I snort. "Humph! I would have actually considered letting you criminals go to live a better life or something, assuming you were just a gang looking for quick money, but if you are connected to the Wolfgang and in such a position that you can offer us reputation with them, then you will receive no such consideration." I take my possessions back from Sylph and then seize my Shackles of War (which I don't see in my inventory. ) and choke Gontzo which seems to be an effective way to kill slugmen. I make sure that he is quite dead. I let the Death Progg escape, and I will not let it happen to another enemy. "A better world? What kind of better world were you bringing to these little folk? Terrorizing their village. You call that a better life for them? I know your sort. If you come into power it will be the exact same story in Eubric, just a tyrannical leader enslaving the populace. You do not seem at all repentant for your actions either. Pitiful slug-lover. But no. We won't kill you. We will hand you over to the town watch. Or perhaps I will use to satiate our demon's blood lust." I shackle Reg. I turn to Big Red after Nessa expended her Phoenix Essence reviving him. "You seem a better sort than these sir. You are free to go, if you wish, but I will require your solemn word of honour that you will not continue to associate yourself with gangs such as this and that you will live a life of non-violence. Also, I would advise you to train up your daughter better. She seems to be taking on some less than desirable characteristics associating with people such as these," I motion to the bodies around us. Hearing Sylph's comment, my eyebrows furrow and my face clouds over. These are the traitors among us, I fume. I knew I should not have trusted him. He orchestrated my demise. Fellons, the whole lot of them. Still stormy-headed, I check Mr. Moke's vital signs. -

I attack Difur and then Reg from the Back Row with my Flying Cross. "Let's beat'em. Do you see Mr. Moke?" -

Okay, thanks.

I first attack Feldorin and then Bondy from the Back Row with my Flying Cross. "Follow the druid's orders." Better to keep things simple for the simple-minded. -

"Are you quite alright, Nessa? Straighten up and hammer away these devils." Battle Order: >Pretzel: Feldorin >Sylph: Seal Difur >Sylph: Seal Difur (If Difur already Sealed, See alternative action) >Pretzel: Seal Difur (If Difur already Sealed, Attack Feldorin, if Feldorin defeated, Difur (Flying Cross) >Nessa: Feldorin or if Defeated Difur Dreyrugr: Feldorin/Difur (Crow Claw Dagger, to finish this off quicker, both enemies are immune to "Weakened anyway) >Nessa: Feldorin/Difur/Reg >Erik: Feldorin (Twin Axe Double/Difur (Twin Axe on him and Reg)/Reg (Twin Axe Double) >Sylph: Heal Hero with Lowest Health or do Nothing. Feldorin should fall quickly, once Difur is Sealed, we'll pummel him. I'll take Reg's Free Hit if he gets one. -
The extended edition of "Unexpected Journey" is out already?

Just wondering, if a Black Knight is being a Prick and steals the loot from a gold-carrying enemy, can rogues still steal gold from that enemy? I assume, yes, but just want to be sure.

After questing with Erdy, he has a great respect for druid's healing powers. Besides, he doesn't know what Sylph is behind the mask, if he found out, he may not like Sylph as much.

Heroica RPG - Second Anniversary Lottery

"Messy signature you have there, Erik," I say after bringing down the slug. "Check mine." I absentmindedly seize on a paper that appeared in my cart from out of nowhere. "Here. Might fine one, eh? "What's all this Z-mail talk?" The letter disappears. Pretzel has signed up for the lottery. -
I think more than one person would desire to murder Pretzel.

I attacked from the Front Row because the Shako gives me a +5 to power in the front Row, that combined with his Fragility and Elemental weakness to my weapon would have dealt him an extra 20 Damage. "Yours indeed!" I grunt. "Magic?!? Magic, indeed. There is not magic behind the art of healing." I attack Feldorin twice from the Front Row with my Heavy Flail, of if the First Attack lands a successful hit/critical hit, I switch to my Flying Cross from the Back Row. -
Wow! I can see this being both very good and very bad for some parties.
