Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return - Hovels
Palathadric replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
I blush a little as suddenly both eyes turn to me. "Oh, I don't know...and I don't know about where they come from either, except that the Guild had one and it ate ether or something like that. Just..thinking about a plant monster made me think about it." -

"A Triffid. We had to face one in one of our last quests. It was a ether-eating plant that was devouring mages everywhere. We had to return to the Guild of Invision." Just for the record, I don't think it is a Triffid, but it would make sense for Petaldan to think it is. -

"Oh, dear, it appeared as if something large had been dragged from the woods into the portal we came through. ...Maybe it was a really large Triffid?" -

"Violence is a last resort. We don't use it unless we have to. Only, if we have a damn good reason for it." -

"But what are you doing here?" I ask, mildly terrified. Now that I see the picture. -

I raise an eyebrow at Karie's acting as if she is the ambassador to the Wolfgang for Heroica and vice versa, having, as far as I know, done no work for them. Nevertheless, I turn pleasantly to Ulric. "I must say that despite the bleakness of the present circumstances, this has been an informative meeting. The message from Byblos is certainly worth noting." -

While following the tracks, I look more closely at just how "large" this thing that was dragged towards the portal seems to have been. The size of a dragon perhaps? "This 'Fey One'...if he/she was a veteran, he/she must be in the city with the others...or?" -

"What do we do? Just wander around?" Sorry, guys. The pictures aren't loading for me, in case I missed something therein. -

"I could buy one for you," I offer, "But I understand if you want the okay to come from the Wolfkin himself." -

"Where do you all want to head? Perhaps it's my ego talking, but I do kind of feel inclined to figure out this Filly mystery. I don't think splitting up is a good option." -

I apply my 4 Bright Polishes I had bought to the Cloak of the Grand Vizier I chuckle at the comment. "Do we really think that is the best place to head?" -
Heading to the marketplace with my remaining 1625 Gold, I visit Portia's and buy 2 Somas and 2 Elixirs. I then turn to Dain's explosives where I purchase 1 Sleep Bomb, 3 Blind Bombs, 3 Seal Bombs, and 3 Smoke Bombs. Additionally, I make two combinations each comprising of a Blind Bomb and a Seal Bomb. I then head to Anwyl's and have him Mythrilize Heaven and Hell. Finally, I traipse over to Fabian's and ask him to merge my Scrolls of Weakening, Frailty, and Sleep into my Cloak of the Grand Vizier. All said and done, I spend: 170+360+4+100+150*.75=588 Gold Spent. Leaving me with 1037 Gold. Lastly, I sell Boris Bo's Knuckle Dusters for 45 Gold. Leaving me with 1082 Gold.

Okay. Thanks!

"From what I've seen, almost everyone seems to be in favour of the founders taking over, but, to be honest, since its happened, I've been lying low more than anything. Do you think the poor would still rally to our cause? Or have they also turned their attention to these 'new saviours'?" -

Having made his purchases, Petaldan steps through the portal with the others. Weird, somehow I didn't post this. -
Does this apply to Pretzel as well?
-
Petaldan spends 75 gold on two Grand Tonics and a Tonic. 248-75=173 Gold remaining. He then spends 100 Gold on upgrading 5 WP:1 Slimy Swords to WP:2. 173-100=73 Gold remaining.
-
WBD, can Petaldan make purchases at the marketplace and join right back up with the others, or is that not an option? Or is it a "try it and it might work, but it might not" situation?

"Well...we could use the extra tonics, but..." I peer cautiously into the portal, uncertain. -

"I was an employee of the Guild once upon a time...but in these times, I'm sure the Zeigfrieds wouldn't be opposed to working with just about anyone. One can't really be picky in times of crisis, can they?" -

Ezeran uses a Remedy on Torald. If Petaldan is successful in remedying Torald, Ezeran uses a Remedy on Skuld. Boomingham repeats. Battle Order: Eric >Boomingham Petaldan Ezeran >Torald >Skuld Germ I put the attackers in the back row and the non-attackers in the front. Germ I left in the front because he is Lucky, so he's less likely to be affected by the Special. -

I forget how slowed works...will the slowed people be able to act this round or only next round? -

Being confused, is there a chance it will use its free hit, assuming it has one, to kill itself? And unfortunately, Petaldan should be confused and not slowed, because he was fighting from the back row. I use a Remedy on Torald hoping that I don't accidentally hit him instead. -
