  1. Same - I'm "I have a complete set of Battle Beasts" old so if anything I have a soft-spot for animal humanoids :P But I get that it's kinda niche relative to more outright human/fantasy-or-alien-races-that-are-supposedly-alien-but-really-just-different-color-skin'ed-humans
  2. I love the thoughtfulness of your goals and the thoroughness of your adherence to the IP! I've only just started MOC'ing myself and have similar values around things like accessibility (sliding out rooms etc) and play features, but your execution takes it to new levels.
  3. +1 Lego deserves credit for more sets that don't include MK himself - If cutting out MK is a way to save some $ on that price tag or get more new charactesr, sign me up! There are plenty of ways to get him already.
  4. You and me both! Overall love the wave! MK continues to impress me with their creativity (until I look at the prices...but this wave seems more reasonable) Pigsy's Tank wins this wave for me -- speaking of creative, the concept here delights me. Poor Tang bout to get a box dropped on him. What a funny / probably lethal attack... Mo getting a variant print is awesome; I know there was speculation he'd get a mech - are their images of that? I may just have to MOC one... I also wasn't sold on the bone mech either, but I gotta reward that kind of crazy design craft.
  5. Agreed amazing fig! Could see that hairpiece being pretty popular for custom figs If this is true August will be rapidly wallet Armageddon, at least for my tastes— ninjago, marvel, vidiyo and monkie kid! Guess I’ll plan to defer Ninjago and Vidiyo for expected discounts and prioritize MK since they’re likely to remain only on lego.com and not discounted...
  6. COVID marked my return to the Lego hobby. I hadn't really played with Lego since childhood, and back then I was way more follow-the-instructions than build-it-myself. But during COVID I bought a lot of lego, and even more minifigures, and was inspired to try and make some attractive 'displays'. This thread will serve as my journaling for these projects, starting with a MOC of a TMNT Sewer Lair. Intended features include: 3 floors, one above ground with a pizza parlor, apartment, and garbage/sewer manhole entrance, two below. 4 removable 'sunrooms'': Each room is removable and has it's own windshield roof so it can be displayed separately with good lighting. A training area, entertainment area, and kitchen. Really feel like I'm on training wheels still; not using advanced techniques but even just building something of this size was fun and felt positive. Any feedback welcome! Help this beginner learn faster. Render of a single room: Mikey's room: Donny's: Leo's:
  7. *Scribbles down notes furiously* Love the thoughtfulness!
  8. 6334212 just picked one up myself!
  9. What an incredible update! I've been thinking about how to approach a new bottom level because I want to integrate ... ninja turtle sewers >.>
  10. Dig it! I have the VXL but not the SoG mech (I think that sets expensive due to bigfig?) Definitely been eyeing the Ice Emperor Dragon; I'm okay having a coupla TBDs to maybe MOC if I ever find the time. I like the Cyber Dragon a lot I just preferred the consistent aesthetic of more fantasy-esque dragons (which is why I may go Jungle Dragon - though I haven't seen those episodes I assume it's Lloyd's...)
  11. Neither actually — I use the movie mechs for Cole and Kai; I got the idea after buying those :P My WIP list (using ones I own/plan to buy on release): Maybe I should do a cycle of bikes...
  12. fair enough! I’d be excited about a monsters reboot too as I missed that theme too. I’m a Magic:The Gathering fan and like the aesthetics of “cycles”, and I really like the idea of ninja set lineup cycles, which means a lot of my ninjago list is trying to find a mech, wheeled vehicle and dragon for each ninja (and sometimes wu). I leverage a lot of ninjago movie sets; overall i feel like Jay is the odd one out surprisingly frequently (at least for big mechs and vehicles).
  13. I mean, I feel like Chima fans are a rare breed so I’ll take the W even if we disagree in details :p I get what you’re saying though- I certainly would have preferred if they maintained the sort of base/vehicle pattern and kept expanding into new animals types in later waves. Part of the difference in opinion may also be how I experienced it temporally — I collected them and only after the series ended did I start opening sets based on what I liked; certainly a lot of the early waves were in those Initially but ice mammoth and other F&I made appearances too
  14. That’d make sense if true! I think the diagonal bars across the building are where the broken scaffolding comes from? Could mean it’s a play feature and the building can be “whole”
  15. Plus one hundred; more brown heads for customs pls!
  16. That’s a really good spot ! And intriguing, especially if an unaccounted figure is driving it ...
  17. Looks like a technic peg hole in the side of the newsstand in the green section? Modular compatibility? I don’t recall if that was confirmed and can’t tell if the base is a baseplate...
  18. Nope! Ninjago was nearly entirely during my dark ages and I’ve been playing catch-up during COVID; prices feel like they’re 20-50% higher for old sets than they were a year ago and even then I needed to be choosey because of how many great sets or rare figs I wanted (Lookin at you, Time Twins). I wanted 70595 but other sets were higher priority like the ninjago city and docks, and I still have quite the backlog hence going for the cheaper new version. I think it’s a bit chicken or egg with set quality over time; my guess is they put their best designers on first waves of new themes and then choose to continue investing in that theme or move them on to new ones as they see how they perform. Actually the main sets I owned before getting back into Ninjago were Chima; I own basically every nonracer set. I wouldn’t say the design quality went down over time per se, but the theme just got a bit repetitive too quickly. Some of my favorite designs were in the fire and ice wave; the ice bear mech especially!
  19. Ah - agree with you there for sure; if it were a straight choice at msrp I’d go the same
  20. Which raiders made the list!? The legacy one is the one I’ve decided to go with since I’m intent on the rest of the golden fig sets...
  21. This latest set is a great set of a design I don’t prefer, so I appreciate the link!
  22. I’ve had surprising luck on Mercari and Facebook Marketplace
