  1. The Idea of standalone versions of previous elements featured in larger sets is a nice idea, but not a new idea. Summer or 2024 and 2025: What could be part of a January wave but ended up not being it. So many buildings that city still doesn’t have, or proper reiterations of older sets. People want a cargo harbor, not a dock with a crane mixed with a marina. We want a farm, not a lackluster barn. We want a airport, not a airport vehicle pack. Not every parent is able to gift their kids a 100€ plane because Lego decided to make their standalone plane pricier than usual. In the classic city era, kids were able to play with a smaller but more accessible passenger plane price wise. If it was pricy it had at least a big airport and accessories. They were able to get a standalone ambulance and hospital/clinic available at the same time, without being forced to buy a bigger set to get the ambulance. In 2025 Oh great we got the ambulance, where’s the hospital? Also people wanted a Harbour because 7994 was a great set, but it’s hard to find at a good price, same could be said for the 2009 farm. Some people want a modern version of 3182 as we never had another airport with the same interior details, just a big building with chairs and a luggage conveyor belt thingy. Their remakes weren’t a hit, 2011 harbor, Airport Passenger Terminal and Barn With Animals were everything that we didn’t want.
  2. Great idea. I'd like a something like 60414, a set that incites collection. 80€ Airport with small Passenger Plane. Jumbo passenger plane as a standalone set. Airport Shuttle as a standalone set.
  3. In these last 5 years (almost) all we've got wasn't "new", more police, Caravans, Truck, it has become boring. Wow a scrapyard! How fun! Stuntz 2.0, woohoo :/ , big van. A city isn't just vehicles and soapbox cars. A big part of the buildings got discontinued, but no other ideas. Look at Ninjago, Look at friends, look at Technic, all of those themes celebrated well their anniversary and success with incredible models, fan-favourites. All city has done this year is repetitive and boring. But bear in mind this is my personal perspective. Let's be honest, City is the key to city-building, now where's the city? The "new ideas", where the hell are they? 2025 New ideas: -Scrapyard -Lifeguard Vehicle -F1 pitstop, since lego decided to remove them from speed champions. -Artic Train 2 of them are slight variants. No Actual Standalone Fire Truck in 9 YEARS No actual fire station in 9 years too.(60215/60320/60414 lacked ) The actual innovative building we got from police was the Academy. The rest was a mix of common vehicles in a different way. The 2021 Crook's Hideout would be amazing with the double rotor helicopter and Riot Truck but got cancelled.
  4. To avoid a seriously boring reply on the main Topic. I officially open this thread to publicly express my opinion about what City is nowadays. 20 years Ago LEGO introduced one of the 5 most popular themes ever to replace the trainwreck of a season that was World City. That replacing theme evolved far beyond the limits imposed on its predecessor: -Proper First Wave of Fire Sets -Modern and More Realistic Police Vehicles -Better Part Development for Trains and Planes. -Focus on variety of sets per subtheme. -New Subtheme per year -Notable Evolution on Certain Sets, size-wise, detail-wise... Now ever since 2018 the theme had it's worse era, with some bangers but also some awful disappointments: Police and Fire Sets became more basic and kiddy-ish, excluding detail and prioritising play features. -Certain subthemes died, with it's sets being scattered over other subthemes. Example- Emergency Wave scattered over miscellaneous/My City and Great Vehicles. -Some subthemes vanished completely(Cargo Transport and Coast Guard) and some are brought back partially (Airport in 2023, Race Plane in 2022) -Junior got discontinued and 4+ was introduced in many themes, which resulted in awful remakes of very desirable fan-favorites. -Vehicles are favoured more than buildings, as we've seen this year, and it's frankly the worst 20 year celebration for a theme. 2023 was a year of hope but it went downhill soon.
  5. Ever since 2021 I've been longing for a decent airport, why is LEGO avoiding the Airport Subtheme now? Not just Air Transport, but cargo planes, Coast Guard, actual subthemes. And why oh why do we have to see a great idea for a set remake be ruined by 4+ inclusion? 2020 Airport-Ruined 2022 Farm-Ruined 2023 Police and Fire Stations-Ruined and Awful I'm tired of this Ups-and-downs era of city, where I look at a promising set in a leaked list only to be a crap of a set because it's 4+. The idea (of 4+, for context) isn't a best-seller at all, most retailers I visit are full of sets that no one grabs or purchases. Just DO A DAMN THEME, don't ruin the others! Now returning to what happened to subthemes beside Space, Police, Fire and Great Vehicles! Hospital is either a standalone or part of a city building subtheme. Train sets are just 2 trains and a station.
  6. To me I've seen paper bags on the Fire Station, Fire 4x4 with boat, and on the Jungle buggy. While the prison island had plastic bags. Here in Southern Europe, magazines are not always released in the same order as the original publisher does, so it's quute common to find a bunch of magazines with plastic gift bags, and sometimes a few paper ones. Thought 2025 was going to be all in for paper bags, looks not like it.
  7. Oh that would be incredible! If we'd gotten a remake of the 2012 garage instead of the Scrapyard. It could sell well both for kids and adults, the old one is quite pricey nowadays.
  8. What is exactly a modular garage? About the upcoming trains I would like to see a updated horizon express, or another ICE train. As for a cargo train I would like to see a Lego Version of the portuguese Cp 1400. I long for another white/orange passenger train and blue/red cargo train. Personally I don't think that the idea of Cargo sets coming back would be bad at all. Kids still like those kinds of sets. If it's too boring, make them the way they did it with 60198, give a twist to the common type of police/criminal sets. Instead of robbing banks and museums, how about cargo vehicles? A plane, a truck and helicopter are long overdue. They already gave us a new harbour. Dear Lego, Can you please stop with the repetitive vehicles and give us actual buildings, different vehicles and less boring 4+ vehicles?
  9. I hope so! I'm tired of having to buy a ton of batteries to get my trains to run. The latest Technic RC car features a all-in-one hub that is rechargeable with USB-c. A guaranteed best-seller would be a train version of said hub, lights, motor, battery in one small package? SOLD! The new education sets also feature rechargeable batteries, but it's been that way for quite some time.
  10. A cargo truck maybe? Also this is completely unrelated and it's more of a theory than any kind of leak or news. But there's a possibility of us having a Fourth Eletric Component System for Trains. In a recent LEGO post made on their website, they had shown a brand new series of motorized products/components for the Education branch, the same theme/brand that created what led to powered up. However, the Passenger train doesn't seem to have any signs of being discontinued next year. Unlike all of the motors, hub, controller and The Cargo Train. (Might be a error on the page) ALSO also any opinions on what the 2026 could have? Any personal ideas for what would you like to see on a upcoming train?
  11. Funnily enough it's the only 2025 set I've got. I admit it's a nice model but I have to admit the new wheels feel out of place, great for trucks and large vans but not for small cars. Most of the new vehicles feature the same frame besides being very different from each other. To me my favourite set out of the wave is the Scrapyard. The vehicles had me sold.
  12. Well there are a few designers that have been in the team for quite some time. And there is one designer that works on both City and Friends. If 2026 disappoints. We definitely (but partially, gotta remember this is for kids and tested with children) need new designers. One thing they can definitely change without a doubt is the default type of wheels we've seen in every single vehicle this year, that isn't either 4+ or an offroader. If anything, do what they did way back with creator. We had 3in1 and Expert. City could have more range as a theme. City Diorama projects are everywhere nowadays and many people look for sets they could add to their city. If city ever does a "City Expert" line they would have great sucess!
  13. First they bring the Speed Champions ace designer and they let hell loose! Vehicles vehicles vehicles.
  14. I would be very interested in a 6 stud wide plane nose piece similar to that we got on the last 2 passenger planes. That could replace this piece. And have a smaller passenger plane included in a airport set to give more focus on the airport. Not the other way around like they did it 5 years ago.
  15. It will be a artic theme for sure. It sells well, train theme will appear in 2026, as 60198 and 60337 are still in production and shelves until the end of the year. Since 2023 we get a late summer set: 2023-60367 2024-60423 2025:60468? The Tower will be 60473 but it's a june release. Finally something interesting from this wave, the single building and, a lot of vehicles dont make up for a banger summer. Some good sets, but not for me. The fact some sets deserve a remake and still haven't got those. As for a police station-Most of the current sets don't match the color scheme of the current station, also too small and roadplate-based. Hospital-Many new vehicles, but no building to match. Airport-Many planes but no actual airport since 2016 (or 2010) Space Rocket Launch Site- 2022 had one, with the rest being focused on the planet, landscape to explore. It's just ONE set (missing) ! 2 consecutive years with few buildings is awful. And discontinuing buildings sets without a sucessor is even worse. Don't Waste Your Potential LEGO!
  16. If anything, 60468 is a August/September release set.
  17. Hope it could be similar to the Ninjago City Sets, full of references to older sets. Finally something to cheer up this boring wave. Hope we still get a few more sets revealed. Haven't we always gotten a September set that isn't a advent calendar?
  18. My first ever train set! Still have it built to this day. I'm trying to get the 2006 one aswell. The 2018 train does remind me more of a Portuguese Cp 3401. And funny enough we have a passenger train that looks pretty similar to the 2015 cargo train. And I have a question for non Europeans: What's the most expensive City Train set you can buy? (All 2006-2022 trains count)
  19. Yes, to function as a add on to the passenger train, I think kids and collectors would prefer that instead of a taxi or something. Last Train Station had a wannabe train alternative to give some purpose and use to the tracks. At least a better alternative to buying a modified set off a 3rd party seller. That reminds me more of the 2014 one
  20. I actually wrote the question a bit poorly. What i was trying to say was. How about include a dummy locomotive to function the same way as this set? I say this as kids could have better play for a train station, and this could function like the World City Theme did it back in the day. As someone who childhood was marked by trains like the horizon express or the 2010 cargo train. My opinion about trains is considerably different. But I do admit that it would be incredible to see a real train subtheme, give some meaning to variety and collection. Also besides not having a 80s 90s childhood, One of my all time favourites was the metroliner for sure.
