  1. ^ Agree, looking good with the Tumblers and just in general. I'm currently dreaming of a flared 240z/280z so really interested in how this turns out
  2. SAR would make total sense for the brand, maybe for the coast guard or some other organisation that's also a bit less militaristic. Orange as a colour would also fit that bill perfectly.
  3. Congratulations to all the medalists, well deserved! It was awesome and an honor to place 4th in my first contest with my first AFOL MOC – especially against such great entries. A huge thank you to everyone who commented and voted. And of course to @Jim for hosting a contest with such an easily approachable theme. Personally I just loved working in that scale.
  4. I gotta say the rear is the sore point () for me too. Also the area with the Lambo sticker + panels looks like it should be one stud higher, now it's just kinda hovering. The rest of the car I really enjoy. I did the Pimp My Porsche mods to the 42056 straight away on first build but I have to say I enjoy building with the official instructions leaflet more. It's just so zen. Plus I don't have to hunt for the extra parts and can go by the bag numbers. Then again, the mods were great soooo...
  5. Here's a quick one. Don't have the Defender so had to rely on a picture.
  6. I've been binging on Netflix muscle car shows like Rust Valley and Car Masters and that huge engine really tickles me now Thank you for the instructions, wish there were more official chromed parts! That's a parachute in the back, right? Great details.
  7. Such a great model plus I really dig the diodrama and all the accessories. I used to dream of owning the 5580 as a kid and this model ticks all those nostalgic boxes.
  8. Made a super quick video: Also just for a lark some very dubious Top Gear Rally Carish box art:
  9. Looks great even without the roof. And I love the suspension!
  10. Of course functionality is the main point of Technic. But I disagree that it's ALL about functionality, especially with these licensed sets that are supposed to represent real-life vehicles. Looks and recognisability are important too – if you're selling a model of a Lamborghini it should look like a Lamborghini. Most of the Technic MOCs I see are also trying to replicate a real-life counterpart and you have to look at the actual hood before you look under it. In this case what I meant is I'm happy with the standard UCS manual mechanics such as suspension, steering, gear box etc. that are expected as long as the bodywork looks great.
  11. Although I'm not a fan of lime green in general I think this car looks lovely and the color is in line with the brand. Also those rims It's probably the set I'm most excited about since I recently got back to Legos after two decades and got the 42056. For me what is under the hood is secondary to the looks although I agree that sagging suspensions and grinding gear boxes should not happen.
  12. Thank you all! I'm afraid there won't (probably) be any instructions as I've never done that before and time is an issue. Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it!
  13. 53. VW Rally Car Inspired by the Volkswagen Polo R WRC and the disappointing Top Gear Rally Car. Features Working steering wheel and HOG Openable hood, doors and trunk Fake engine, cockpit interior, roll cage, spare tire and a fire extinguisher system Simple rear suspension (whole axle traverses up or down, no side to side rotation)
  14. Alright, took some better photos (product photography is hard!). Next is entry post time. Thank you all, it's been a fun experience!
  15. Thanks everyone! It flatters me that there's interest in instructions Unfortunately this is my first proper Technic MOC and I've never done instructions before. I'm also not sure if my build quality would be up to snuff with all the angles and offsets going on. I did do some structural tuning to the cockpit and the boot area. Here's some quick photos of the chassis, I'll be taking better entry photos at the office tomorrow. The cockpit is pretty stripped as in rally cars usually. There's pedals, gear stick, handbrake, shielded display for the driver and footrests for the navigator. I managed to simplify the rear bumper mounting, stabilize the fire extinquisher and add a sticker fresh from the 42111. This is the source of my greatest shame: the steering rack mounted under the chassis. I tried to mount it on top, but in the back it interferes with the hood mounting and in the front it interferes with the engine. I thought I'd use the old 3x1 rack with steering links but ithat was 2 studs too wide. So I hid my shame. But all crimes must see the light of day eventually. I also tried to do a fake rear differential but I think I have no idea what I'm doing.
  16. @agrof @captainmib Thanks for the help guys, your assessment of the pillars was spot on! It's funny how blind you get to your obvious design mistakes after a while I extended the A-pillars by one stud and shortened the C-pillars a bit and it does look a lot better, I hope. What do you think? I'm not super happy with the way I had to secure the roof to the safety frame in addition to the C-pillars, but it seemed like the path of least resistance and my brain is scrambled (couldn't resist adding that silly STIG sticker to the spoiler).
  17. @agrof Thank you, I really appreciate it! Here's the body with the new color scheme. I also tried out some stickers from the 42109 on the other side. What do you think, with or without them? (Forgot the 2x1 liftarm from the front on this side)
  18. Work on the chassis: ditched the diff, added a REALLY simple suspension & a fire extinguishing system, reworked the safety frame and changed colors a bit (I'll be going with a more traditional and aggressive white, red and black combo on the body). Not very realistic I know, but a bit of fun I hope.
  19. Thank you for the instructions! It was really nice to build something small and fun for a change and finally get to use that pullback motor
  20. Thanks guys, I'll lose the differential
