Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
chris6507 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Personally, considering all the other Diagon Alley shops we have are all from the same side of the street i'm going to display mine all in a line with Gringotts on the Left hand end. Makes sense in terms of the layout in the movies, fits on a straight shelf and helps excuse the Magical Menagerie as it'll probably be right on the edge of the shelf and will just look like it's cut off due to the shelf width. Lol. My only question if anyone knows... What's with the white wall on the right hand side of the set? From all the videos I can see from the movies there is no wall there, it's just another alleyway. That wall is the only thing that's baffling me. In movie stills from Philosophers stone there's an alley with a skybridge further down and some images have shops tucked further back. But nothing with a wall that matches the colour and architecture of Gringotts. -

I read that after Brickbob posted that link and had a wave of relief wash over me! So excited! I was definitely one of those doubters. But in my defence, LEGO has very much enjoyed subverting expectations lately and not in a good way (personal opinion). -

Does anyone know of any decent instructions on how this Hogwarts Castle (2021-2023) all combines together? Watched some youtube videos and I think it's all together right, but surely it's not as s*** as it looks. Lol. Does the bridge not connect at all? Thought i'd saved some colour codes instructions a few months ago, but can't find it now. On another subject, is anyone else feeling apprehensive about this Diagon Alley set reveal? Being the most desired set ever since I bought Diagon Alley, I'm feeling really nervous now about what the quality of it is going to be like. May just be my personal opinion, but is seriously feels like the quality of LEGO Harry Potter has absolutely tanked in recent years and i'm just so hoping that by some miracle it's not as bad as the last few years releases, but at the same time super nervous that i'm going to see it and get that same sinking feeling I've gotten with the last few waves (most recent moreso) reveals. -

Thanks for that. Ordered one already. Worked out well. The JP Triceratops set was back in stock which I reordered, because I'm pretty sure my parcel with my JP sets has got lost in the mail, so I reordered them all again before the sale ends so I don't miss out. As for the other two sets I'm getting the distinct feeling that WWW is a Kmart exclusive and Hogwarts Express is a BigW exclusive. Not that it matters anyways, not buying either of those two as they're both re-treads of old sets that i've got already and not spending $150 for a new train station (Might have if it had looked wintery. Lol.) -

Geez I hate LEGO at times. Here's the first 8-9 Disney Princesses for $5 each in CMF packets. Now if you want to complete your disney princess lineup, give us $800 to complete your set along with a repeat of a castle you already paid several hundred dollars for a few years ago! They already did this two me with the Anniversary Harry Potter figures and the crappy Hogwarts Icons set. Jerks! -

Does anyone in Australia know what's the deal with Battle of Hogwarts? It it a LEGO exclusive or does it have a later retail date or something? It doesn't seem to be coming out at any of the retailers. -

So the set is 100% designed to go with Diagon Alley? Not Diagon Alley: Weezley Wizard Wheezes? Gonna be so glad when I know that for sure. -

You can always try contacting LEGO customer service and explaining what happened. I mean they've sent me an entire missing bag for a set I bought on clearance (I left the last bit out when I asked. Lol.), They also sent me a complete new set of stickers for the Sanctum Sanctorum when I told them that I had stuffed up putting the stickers on. Sent me a keyring for new VIPs when I was an old VIP because I asked and there's been several other things. Don't know others experiences, but i've never had a negative experience with LEGO customer service and always figure that it's worth a shot. -

I've just been sitting looking at the set myself wondering if it's even actually part of the modular Hogwarts line-up. It all just looks odd! -

You're not joking about being whelmed. Looked through them and thought, "oh, is that it?" Think my wife might like Hogsmeade Station, but other than that, i'm stoked that it's going to be easier to save up for Gringott's! Also for those saying that Promobricks said that Gringott's is compatible with the old DA. This is exactly why some of us are concerned... Where's this Black Dress McGonagall and Stone Soldier that everyone was drooling over the idea of? If they can't even get that right, pretty sure they could get the Gringott's compatibility wrong. These pictures has only increased my concern unfortunately. -

You're not alone in your thoughts. No matter what the rumours are or what other may say, I also can't help thinking the exact same thing as you. Considering the original 2018 Hogwarts line was dumped in its tracks rather incomplete for the new rubbish square system at the drop of a hat, I can see them doing the same thing with Diagon Alley, and they wouldn't care in the slightest. And yes, while the building is not necessarily connected, it can greatly impair the way people feel about something if it's not specifically designed to go with something they've been waiting for, for 3 years. I understand that it's not a FACT, but the release of WWW just a couple of months prior to Gringotts release is definitely concerning to some people. I'm eagerly awaiting hopefully very positive news, but will always feel this stupid WWW should have been a 2024 release. And lets be honest, while rumoured to connect by Promobricks to connect, it's not exactly concrete evidence when they don't even know HOW it connnects? Lol. It's going to be a long couple of months for some of us. -

Just been rebuilding Diagon Alley and as I was going through my minifigures trying to find my populace for said set something kept playing on my mind and that is how much I absolutely HATE the Hogwarts Icons set. I have zero interest in that set, it looks fine, sure! But it's just not my thing. But the reason I absolutely HATE the set is because of the 20th Anniversary Minifigures. Having purchased all the playsets that year, I have the six other figures, but the final three are locked (for me) behind this huge paywall of a set that I have no interest in. So now my anniversary figures feel very, very incomplete. And as there's nothing else in the Hogwarts Icons set that's worth anything of value, it means the minifigures are ridiculously expensive on bricklink ($120+ excluding postage for 3 minifigures). But this got me thinking, and thought it might be interesting to hear some other examples while we are waiting for links..... What is your most Hated (or disliked if you are more polite) LEGO Harry Potter set and why? So not just a set that's not your thing, but a set for some reason or another borders on making your blood boil! -

Pretty sure it's just 2x8 reddish brown plates with light bluish Grey tiles running along the top as tracks. Assuming we are loking at the same thing. -

I'm really hoping the rumours are true. It's all just giving me Hogwarts castle reboot vibes is all. The release of it is just very weird timing. Why would you release a new Diagon Alley set basically alongside an old style Diagon Alley set if they aren't compatible? -

The plates this is built on is concerning enough for me. Gringotts is very unlikely to be compatible with both old and new Diagon Alley sets out of the box. Gonna cry if its made to go with this rubbish and no the old one. Couldn't they have left this set off til next year so we wouldn't all be questioning what Gringotts was going to be compatible with? -

What is it about the line up of minifigures that has everyone so excited? There's only like one new character whom to me is a bit "meh" and the rest are all characters we've had at least 3 times each before and I don't really remember any of them wearing anything particularly exciting during the battle. I was disappointed when I read the line-up, but maybe I'm missing something and maybe someone can explain the excitement so I can have something to be excited about other than Gringotts which is forever away! Lol. -

I don't think a minifigure scale Hogwarts is too out of the question. I can't imagine them doing the entire things, but i'd be quite satisfied with a Hogwarts version of something like 10305 Lion Knight's Castle. I'm no LEGO designer so I don't know how well something like that could be transitioned to something more like Hogwarts, but it sure feels like it would be a satisfying scale. -

YAY!!! So happy by this news! I have been saying for the last year or two, that the last minifigure I needed for my collection to be complete is Rita Skeeter. She was the only obvious omission I personally felt I was missing. Fortunately have the old Narcissa who I still think is perfect (although has a new black skirt on her). Don't know why, but never really felt like I needed Karkarorr and half the other people that are on others list I either have no idea who they are or are such D level characters I don't feel they count for me. Just so very happy with this news! :-D -

I 100% agree with your wishlist. Sounds great. I'd be first in line to buy unlike the last two D2C sets which (personally) I feel were both absolute garbage. Just wanted to highlight one thing though. While most of the images, maps and layouts of Diagon Alley are organised as you say, the set is based on The Chamber Of Secrets which if you watch the scene are all ordered in the set exactly as they are in the movie. You see it all for about 10 seconds after Hagrid saves Harry from Knockturn Alley. When the set was released I scrutinised these few seconds as I originally thought the set looked kind of horrible. But after watching this it made me realise how nearly perfect the set was. Of course when I say perfectly in order this excuses the Weasley's shop. Lol. One thing that stood out to me when rewatching this scene before commenting is I can actually kind of understand now why Gringotts wasn't included. It's actually way down the other end of the street and nowhere near the buildings that were in the set. Of course WWW was nowhere near these either because it didn't exist. But it does make me wonder whether the other half of the street is coming with Gringotts or something. But enjoyed your speculations even if other didn't, but I recommend rewatching the scene in Chamber of Secrets, you'll actually see it's pretty darn accurate to that movie and makes you appreciate the set more. :-D -

Just a quick PSA before I race off to bed. Just stayed up in Australia to see if the Grand Staircase GWP went live and I can gladly confirm it did. Not sure the purchase limits on everything, but it was $209 AUD for the Grand Staircase, but I also got the little build your own hogwarts or whatever it is called and third GWP called childrens amusement park. Hopefully that all makes sense and is helpful. I'm tired and off to bed. Still up, waiting for something to finish scanning. Just checked, the mini hogwarts is with a $109 AUD spend and the Amusement park is with a $179 AUD purchase. So I bought Ministry of Magic and Carriage and Thestrals which put me just $3 over the spend limit here. Really hoping Grimmauld place isn't an exclusive somewhere and I can't find it discounted now. Really didn't know whether to get Grimmauld Place or Ministry of Magic. Bit of a gamble, we'll see how it plays out when they are finally released into the retail world. Also, obviously not the only way staying up... just noticed Grimmauld place is now out of stock here!
