Hehehe, excellent scene. So, he's not trying to lead lightning into a bucket or something (à la Stardust), he's just content on trying to catch it with his rod? :) Great pose by the way, the electrician himself looks fantastic.

Church/Chapel MoC for Medievel Marketplace
Cakeman replied to brickzone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Very nice! I like how your church is "openable" with a nice interior. If you rebuild it with a tower, please show us The marketplace seems to be the set to own nowdays, for all us castlecollectors. And since I just passed an exam, I think I'm entiteled to it -
@ songwm & ultraman_bc: Very very nice armies both of you have collected. I like the way they are fielded in units, it looks like a real army. I think I will try to adopt it, though my units will be in groups of ten :) Again, very very impressive. I'd like to see more of them when in battle. @ SiRoa They look very fierce. I like the way they have a common, black, colorscheme. Lots of great armies out there and I follow this thread whenever it pops up to the top spot. Keep posting!

It's been 17 years since this set?!? I'm getting old... when this got out, I was slowly descending into my dark ages, although I held out acouple of years thanks to younger brothers. I remember getting one of this valiant knight, armybuilding wasn't really on my mind back then. Good review, woke that old memory... :)

Absolutely beautiful RebelRock! I'm glad to see yet another design of walls and crenelations that I haven't seen before, all those beautiful MOC's all give inspiration and ideas for my own building (which is far far from this level). Again, I really like the wall design... good luck in the contest :)

Ohh, a keep! I'm looking forward to how it will turn out - the exterior of the part you have shown looks good, though if you plan on making it a throne room shouldn't the front door be on top of a small stair (just two steps?) and bigger? Maybe dual? Just a thought, otherwise I'm very much looking forward to see the next part and haow it fits in with the rest of the castle. /Cakeman

We want a picture of your orc squad with the bagpipe! PS. Not that small an army there after all, Cagri :) DS.

I've seen the wolfpack and their cousins, the greenclad forestmen, as people who live outisde normal society in the medieval legoworld. But as I think the forestmen are fighting the good fight, helping peasants from robberbarons etc the wolfpack... well just listen to the name: Wolfpack! No loyalty to anyone but themselves, but then it's absolute! No wolfpack member would betray another - but other then that anyone is prey if it comes to that. Maybe they don't actively raid villages and caravans, as they even dabble in trade with their loaded carts travelling to fairs and markets, but if you enter their domain you are at their mercy. I think they have a dark flair the forestmen lack. Outcasts or selfimposed exile from others, now carving out their own lands in desolate areas. Nowdays I'd think they would be fighting with the trolls now and then. I've used them as mercenaries now and then, and they are tolerated within city walls and at markets so they're not bandits with a price on their head. Well, that's how I see them.. (pic shamelessly stolen)

Beautiful MOC with very good attention to detail. My bet is on one of the kids, now with the PTV-contest in mind I think there's too little misery and mayhem here in this... perfect life :)

Ok KimT! Here's my Crownie Army, there's more recruits in the cupboards but they're staying in the boxes for now... så 10 footmen, 5 crossbowmen, 5 heavy infantry, 2 castle guard, 4 mounted knights, 3 royal rangers and 1 battlewizard.

Well, I liked the guns in the preliminary better, and I also notice that the badguys have new faces. A shame, I wanted the one with the green glasses (looked a lot like a mad scientist) but... ok, they are good now too. Even though it's a shame about the guns I still want this set bad

This just looks better and better Teddy! Your last two pictures wich shows interior and exterior of the castle are so different from how it looked in the beginning, and I atleast think it's been a great improvment over time :) The courtyard buildings look very good, and it's fun to see how you don't need the fourth wall in the building when you can put it against your castle wall. Also, now I see added benefit to the extra height of your walls. The buildings add a lot of 'feeling' to the castle I think. Looking at the outside, I wonder if a small guardpost at the beginning of the bridge would look good? You have a forest on one side and a small building on the other side could balance it off, and at the same time break up the "castle symmetry" if it's made in grey/bley. Keep up the good work! :)

Ideas for 10193 Medieval Market Village add-ons
Cakeman replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Hehehe, the village has just been unveiled and already we are thinking about what should come after it But I'd really like to se a farm, a church or a tailor. Oh, and more women in general. Maybe a... seemstress guild located right next to the barracks. And an alchemist (we have wizards, so it's in theme). See, I'm dreaming of my little village too. I'll place it on a hill, not too far from the pillaging orcs trolls. And more trees like the one in 10193! Trees and a shrubbery! -
Fantastic! Ofcourse, this means I'll have to skip on the new Indiana Jones sets but for this?!? Any day! Like the old smithy the houses have 4 walls (wich is the way it should be..), the detail is outstanding, the signs are great. Though I like the bruickbuilt animals and I think that the TLC Cow looks... childishly rounded and soft, in comparison with the more brickish cow from Brickforge. Brickforges cow fits better with the horses we have AND (I think) with the minifigs. What does the rest of you think about that?

Yes, portcullis and a gate. I think I will have the portcullis as the last line of defense, and the doors furthest out. I've seen real castles with both designs so I guess there's merit to both designs in some way. Also, I looked at the colors as you suggested - and it's true, tan does appear different if put together with grey or bley. I'll see what I can do about that, it'd be an experiment for me too. Thanks for the input Teddy. Hehe, I have no idea. Between school and lack of bricks the gatehouse alone took me more then a month (30 days waiting for parts, 1 day to build) to finish. Next step should be a the keep, and though I like being able to lift of layers from houses I think I will construct it like this: If it's understandable... the big square is the keep, and one part connects to the walls and the other half is connected by a hinge so it'll be foldable, like the good old TLC castles.

Oh very nice indeed Teddy. And to think you do the interior as well, good thing to read that you are going to have lift-off sections so that it's possible to look inside. I think this model will be worth a trip to the Netherlands :) I'm looking forward to more updates, and I'm still trying to figure out how you have fitted the hull together in the rear but then again, even the shipbuilders of that age had their secrets ;) How many people crewed the ship irl? Just checking to see how many minifigs you have to get your hands on... best of luck, I'll be checking in on the thread to watch the progress.

Damn, DAMN! Oh well, I don't need any books for studying now do I? Well they look nice and I agree with previous posters in that impulse sets have been a real boon for anyoe wanting to add numbers to their armies... now if they could just go all the way and skip the scenery and just include useful bricks. But this is probably the fine line between AFOLs and kids :) Anyway, looks great. Thanks for posting this.

I like this set a lot. Now, the tower in itself is a little flimsy etc (as all tlc castles, including the old ones) so it's not worse then other at all. Now the true star here is the siegetower wich I think is great, with extra bling like the chain and (loose fitting) boards on the side. Stunning. I haven't even modded mine :)

Update! I've recieved my bricklink order (and ofcourse it turns out I forgot some parts, but that's always the way isn't it?) and have gotten to work on the gatehouse. I built it without really measuring the height of the other parts.... it turned out a lot higher then my tower etc. I could cut one story and have it more like the rest, but it's not all bad... input please. Also, you see the roof is not finished. Should I have a flat roof with crenelations etc, continue the slope all the way up or use the space for a landingplatform for dragons? I was planning on having that on the third tower, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the pics: Front view. The windows on the top floor are supposed to be arrowslits, the design is prepared but I'm lacking certain bits. Slight side view. I thought it was a bit bulky in the beginning, but it's growing on me... only sad thing is that the back is utterly boring and ugly. Top part dosen't even hang out 1 stud on the back side, since I wanted it 14 wide for easier roof-building... The roof. Now, what should go in that place? Dragonplatform, Normal roof, crenelations and castle stuff? Inside view. You can walk straight through the gatehouse (anyone wondered where the gate is yet?) and it's quite spacey, 6 studs wide so that the minifigs can hang around and loiter. Two different total castle layouts. Modular is nice, allows for nifty reconstruction. Now I need some more wall, another tower and a keep... the keep will most probably be dwarfed by the gatehouse, but it's needed anyway. Oh yes, the drawbridge... I didn't order black plates so I have none to build it with :) Oh the irony...

Very nice cliffs, I haven't seen modeling like that before. Now I've gotten more good ideas and pointers. Is the top part of the MOC held up by that thin cliff there (and the bottom part of the mast)? Is it stable/unstable?
