  1. Thanks. If they do the Duel again in 2021+ format it will be worse than either version we've gotten so far, and that includes the rollback they did in 2018's GH from what they'd envisioned and put forward at the toy fair. (I forget which one it was, but I'm sure you've seen the pictures.) The rooms are just too bitty and you need the ceiling height.
  2. But even the JLBricks build is 8x8 towers, though. Basically in the original the lower level is ho hum (2021+ would nail that ) and then there's one interesting level, then some spires and the roof. It's doable in the 2021 modular style if they didn't completely chince out on the exterior (obviously not a given), but I have hope. @Seaber you've forgotten the Hufflepuff dorms. If we're having the other three Houses, let's not forget the Puffs. What's the Hideout? Duelling club scene has been covered (more or less) in both Great Halls. Agree some representation of the moving stairs and all the portraits would be lovely. It needn't be super detailed like some of the MOCs out there, but even more streamlined versions do a lot to unite disparate castle pieces.
  3. I think I count the castle sets separately, too, in part because they tend to be different kinds of builds. The tree builds just come together differently than Hogwarts itself does, and for me Hagrid's Hut has more in common with Hogsmeade than Fluffy Encounter, say, which is how I tend to group them mentally as opposed to their physical locations in the stories. Have to agree with @Retro Brick Reviews that I'd hoped for more scenes from the modular series (especially as the designers themselves had emphasised that as a feature of their concept), but maybe the summer sets will end up being groups of scenes. The castle section could include Lupin's DADA classroom as well as the damaged Fat Lady's portrait and Sirius' escape with Buckbeak, for example. Looking forward to seeing what they end up doing with that, especially as we seem to be getting the named part of the castle in the winter sets (clock tower). Admittedly that makes me less hopeful we'll see something resembling the Bell Towers this summer... Thanks @Brickroll & @BrickFunatic for the answers.
  4. If the buildable creature were a flapping Buckbeak, scalewise, how do you suppose it would compare to the gargantuan Harry fig? (That was supposed to be the $50 set.) I also seem to recall seeing talk that there were two sets designated as "play sets", but could only confirm that for 76407 / 777 pieces / $90. Does anyone know if there was a second, and if so, which one?
  5. As far as completionism & the space question goes, lego has radically changed some of their approach in the past couple of years, most notably around the HP and Star Wars lines. The nano-scale Hogwarts was the second largest set by piece count at the time of its release, and Diagon Alley the fourth largest. Only a year and a half after DA's release, they are now 5th and 7th largest respectively. That's a drastic shift in the size of the sets produced in recent years. (It's probably also very telling of how they view the HP theme that they awarded two such coveted spots to a theme that only a short time before had been retired.) So maybe instead of the sprawl of the 2018+ castle, the thinking was AFOLs spend roughly the same amount on the more condensed nano-scale build and / or the even further reduced DA footprint and that those of us with budgetary or space constraints pick and choose amongst the sets. At least viewing it that way makes it easier to accept when they don't seem to be meant to appeal anything like equally to the same consumer. I'm happy for Hogwarts trunks if it just keeps the sets coming... Thanks, @BacktoBricks.
  6. Unclear, tbh. I'll definitely need more surgery, but it can be postponed until the hospital capacity situation is less volatile. The bigger issue, as for too many others I imagine, seems to be proper risk assessment for overall treatment under uncertain conditions, but then we can't change that either so there's really little point whinging. Like you, I just try to avoid stationary treatment where possible. I do however now have a very good natured doctor / nurse minifig from the lego store's PAB figs (complete with most comforting star-topped magic wand ) who accompanies me when I can use a spot of luck. And when not, she resides in the Ravenclaw dorms, presently the only yellow-fig to do so. (I suspect a jinx went wild.) Realistically, she'd probably be a Hufflepuff, but... I'm not sure if I'll count the upcoming trunk as properly rectifying that shortcoming or not. And of course now I'm eagerly anticipating a Madam Pomfrey of my own. (Side note, how long before they make a proper mask piece do you reckon?) Very sorry for your loss. Don't get me wrong, I was very much in favour of the restrictions, not in the least because it protected the (non-lego) nurses and doctors we all rely upon. I'm just also aware it makes things that are already difficult, like surgeries and convalescences, more so. As problems go, that at least is somewhat addressable simply by recognising it. As for completionism, someone here had made a remark that stuck with me, that if a set didn't give you that spark of joy, it might be better to give it a pass. That struck me as a great way to approach it. Presently I'm passing on the Chess Set, and for the same shelf space I'm eyeing the new Hotel with the cab GWP instead. (The cab is *very* cute.) And I think the space consideration has bolstered the Moment sets' ranking in my esteem as well.
  7. Spent far too long in hospital last year, which with covid restrictions sucked more than usual / necessary. If you need an ear or just a distraction, feel free to PM. I mean that. And on the plus side, I can blither both lego and HP fairly fluently... Best of luck tomorrow.
  8. *presses refresh, presses refresh* Narrator: And so Mr No inadvertently caused a DDoS attack on the unsuspecting promobricks site...
  9. Thanks, @lego_guyon02 and @mark1991t I finally found the piece from the interview. Mind, it's been translated back and forth twice now, but here it is from stonewars: Somewhat confusingly, it forwards to the link mark1991t provided. No, no, we most certainly wouldn't want to do that. And definitely not by using the link above. Definitely not.
  10. Correct, I conflate things upon occasion, and megacorps all look alike from where I'm sat. Thanks for clearing it up. @mark1991t, thanks for the link, that seems to be the entry for a contest, however? The designers had suggested that fans submit suggestions for sets they'd like to see... somewhere, I'm just at a loss for the where.
  11. Speaking of, does anyone have the link where they said we could make requests? I got the feeling the designers wouldn't mind doing some of the sets we'd like to see, but they're kind of stuck sometimes wrt Universal. That maybe suggestions might help them plead their cases?
  12. Now that I think about it, wasn't Stan Shunpike under an Imperius and he flew with them in the BotSP? Honestly, I'd love most of the named Death Eaters. And I really hope they include Scabiour, I found him well menacing. He left a bigger impression on me than most of them did. I'm greedy. Four masks, four torsos, maybe a printed skirt or two, and hood or two, pointy hat, maybe a couple of hair pieces (or were there other good hat pieces?), and my Death Eater Army could be realised. Really I'm not asking for much at all. Put them in an Accessory Pack and I'll buy several. The rescue scene with Buckbeak and Sirius could be part of a castle set. Perhaps with Lupin's DADA classroom, Boggart cupboard, and the Snape Boggart, which at present is the only thing they haven't repeated from the minifig 4 pack. Frankly I'd like either that and Neville, or the jack in the box clown and one of the twins, both of which seem likely given lego's current character preferences. I'd really love Voldemort with his Drinkingstraw of Doom (he's evil enough, it's probably plastic ) and a unicorn, but given that scene is one of the only chances I think we'll see Fang, I can't see it being the $20 one, or else having all the things I'd want in it. Unless they included Fang in a new Hagrid's hut version... Hmm... Hi, @Slytherin Alumni, welcome to the forum. I'm not sure how likely it is we'll see such a range of films covered in one year, but I'd hope we see most of those eventually. I'd really love a ghosts pack, but I was just re-listening to an interview from May where they poo pooed the notion of re-releasing Peeves. We can hope, though. He appears in other formats. Then again, their deal is apparently with Universal. Which of those sets would you most like to see?
  13. In addition to Voldy (and nominally Snape), we've got Lucius, Bellatrix, Pettigrew, Crouch Jr. and Greyback. Oh, and Draco, too, for that matter. But I agree we could use more. And Narcissa too while we're at it. I keep hoping we'll get an Accessory Pack we can mix and match to make more of them, with luck maybe 12-16 variations. I do kind of like the Klan DE, but admittedly he isn't great for a broom fight.
  14. But like the Great Hall, Privet Drive is relevant every year / film (except DH2 for PD). Sure a few details from the set are PS / CoS related (the envelopes and owl, the room under the stair to re-create the first year, the upstairs room with barred window, floating cake and Dobby and the Anglia rescue from second year) but the lion's share of the build is unchanged throughout the years. For example, at this point we should have enough Harrys and the CMF figs to stage an (extremely one-sided) Battle of the Seven Potters if we like, or the farewell scenes with the Dursleys. The only significant thing missing at this point is Hagrid's / Sirius' motorcycle to re-creating Harry's arrival at and leaving of Privet Drive. PD just is not a PS / CoS set in the same way a thing like the Knight Bus is that literally has no appearances outside of a single film (PoA).
  15. Sorry, that was a Freudian slip, I meant HBP. (Three guesses what I wanted instead. )
  16. If they don't do it during the PoA (and GoF) year, then they'd get stuck waiting for another three or four years, though, which I can't see either. That, or they'd release it in the midst of a OotP / DH centric year, which is also strange. (And then we'd complain that it stole one of "their" slots... ) When you consider how fond they are of modes of transportation in general... They always seem to find ways to work them into this line (KB, HE, Anglia; Durmstrang ship, Beauxbatons Carriage), despite it not being a vehicle heavy story.
  17. Because we always seem to end up back here, here's what Marcos Bessa himself had to say on the topic last August: The interview was with Tips&Bricks and this excerpt appeared on Promobricks on 20. August.
  18. Promobricks were the ones who supplied us with the initial set / price list and they said they guessed that one of those sets would be an AC. They neither knew for sure there would be one (although it seems not improbable), nor obviously could they know for sure that it was part of that list, but if so, their pick was the most likely, the $45 USD set. Electricbricks has since given us the piece counts for most of the sets except the D2C and the $120 USD sets, fuelling more speculation. That sounds like it would be a great way to get around a pile up of (somewhat unspectacular) trees, to effectively alternate Christmas years with story years / Accessory Packs. (Although I'm still going to plead for the inclusion of more wreaths in both versions. A little decoration goes a long way.) @Clone OPatra is the Electricbricks piece count information something we consider reliable enough that it could be added to the first page of this topic? When I add up what I've spent on my little DA compatible builds, apparently that's just what I'd like to do. I'm also not sure it would be limited to hardcore fans as purchasers, either, in much the same way off last month's photo streams, lots of folks seem to have integrated Hogsmeade into their Christmas / Winter Village displays. The sets may be less niche than the Knight Bus, as an example.
  19. That isn't working out so reliably for me. I said much the same thing about the Moment sets, and now love the silly things... You know, once I let go of the feeling I had to have all the sets (not having those Harry and Ron keychains is really making all the difference ), my wallet came around to embracing the series going evergreen...
  20. @lego_guyon02 thanks for the differentiated reply. I agree the main problem with just wishing for minifigs is whether or not they'll do another HP CMF series, and if they stuck with the 12 fig format, FB would probably get short shrift. For that reason I'm thinking if they did DA again, they'd once again do it without Gringotts and make that a more affordable stand alone set in a year or two. People have proven they'd buy the set without Gringotts, and we wouldn't necessarily need the first DA set either, unlike with part 2 of the nanoscale Hogwarts. Splitting either around an eventual Gringotts would still give us a decent street view. As for price, it might be more expensive because prices in general have increased, and because the Leaky would need the extra wall portion / entrance to DA. Also, my wallet, like yours, hopes that they wouldn't put such a key build in such an expensive set.
  21. Yes, very near and dear to my heart (and / or shoulder bag, whichever... ) (But thank you for the heads up, @drewdotexe) @Darth Shadowthrone, curious, you'd prefer an AP to their inclusion in a new CMF series? Because the quality of the minifigs would be better the CMF route. Or I guess I should be asking if the figs you'd want to see don't require new prints? It never ceases to surprise me when you guys remember what FB things are called (which isn't a good sign ; it's a cute series, I'd like it to succeed). The movies, although beautiful, just didn't stick with me all that much. I think I connected with HP more because of the books, and the slow instalment release unfortunately hasn't helped FB any. I'd be curious, though, if there are kids (or adults for that matter) coming at the franchise's fandom as FB fans who weren't first fond of HP. And more relevantly for lego, if they're only purchasing the FB sets... So imagining a "crappy new Hogwarts segment" , and that seems more than fair budget-wise, they could make it something that slots in with the Infirmary or whatever they release in the summer to encourage sales amongst the otherwise HP-only crowd, what scenes leap out at you? What would you include? And basically the same question I asked Darth Shadowthrone, why would you prefer concretely a segment to a CMF? What could it offer you to make it an improvement over exclusive minifigs alone?
  22. If we have that kind of luck, probably not until 2023? OotP ish. Thanks, @Roebuck
  23. Question as to how those are called, was the CoS last year considered one? There was a kerfuffle here upon release as there were pre-sales at a bunch of shops in April, and then something changed and it was only sold at lego S@H (and maybe a small handful of others like amazon?) and everyone else had to wait until mid August. Does a 'retailer exclusive' have to remain that way? No, nein, nyet. They don't count or I'm stuck buying those two plus Hermione all over again. (Trying to lobby for more non-pink / purple / aqua /minidoll female representation. Still haven't gotten over the Hermione Brickhead being the only one not available here at normal shops.) Pfft. As though a consideration like that were relevant. 4768 Durmstrang Ship, 75958 Beauxbatons' Carriage.
  24. There's virtually no chance we won't see a Knight Bus remake remake (remake?) again this year. The last just retired, it's one of their staples and yet it only appears in PoA, and off the Infirmary and Moment books, it looks like they're repeating the two films a year focus approach. Hopefully it will come with more than just a new Sirius / Grim to justify it. (I'm going to feel a complete tit buying it if not. ) Oh, Mimi, bricklink is your friend, bricklink is your friend... I'm half surprised we didn't get yet another Ford in 2021, but then two were still on the shelves at the time and we were spared. (How about Hagrid's motorcycle and sidecar instead, lego? Please and thank you.) As for completionism, 2018-2020, I've now got everything but the FB sets. (DA just arrived, dead chuffed.) 2021 onwards, I skipped (and don't plan on changing that) the art sets, the chess set, the Harry and Ron keychains, and Icons. (Budgets, both monetary and spatial, dictated that. Well, on all but the keychains... ) I still don't have Fawkes, and if they release another one this year I probably won't get him, but if it looks like he might be the end of the series I may go back and pick him up. He's only available at MRP though, and takes up a lot of room on the shelf... On the other hand, pretty. Decisions, decisions. Along those lines, while I miss the 2018+ style like most of the rest of you, and really wish they'd given a little more thought to the exteriors (the Infirmary is a vast improvement), there's something to be said for 2021's generally smaller footprint. At the very least if you're going to go back over recently trodden ground, at least it's a fairly radical departure. Or a HBP version with lots of flames, sort of like they did the Burrow?
  25. HP stuff also tends to have a lot of (frippery?). There are comparatively plenty of cheese pieces and cones and ski pole decorations thrown in that may not take as much out of their set budgets. Piece count per EUR was always a strange metric. There have been suggestions that weight might be a better approach. The attempted normalisation of prices across Europe is also odd with such a span in VAT, which is included in our prices.
