Thanks! Thank you! I was actually thinking of your MOCs when getting the shapes right. The legs and feet definitely need some work.

I'm glad you guys like it. Maybe the Mahiki works a little too well! I see what you mean about the faces, it's hard when you identify those parts as masks in the first place. I'll see what I can do about it. I got a request from another thread for pictures of the body construction, so there are a few LDD screenshots here: https://www.flickr.c...eposted-public/

Thank you! I want to make Furno and one of the 1.0 villains in this scale, but I'm running out of parts.

I think Hero Factory reached its peak in 2012 with "Breakout". We got some of the coolest and most cohesive designs for heroes and villains. It seemed like TLG went all out on the weapons, gadgets, and armor. I wanted to stick to that style when creating a Breez better suited for street-level bagging and tagging. Rocka was a big influence for her gear. I've also been trying to get more accurate proportions with good articulation. Most of Breez's ball joints work well, but I need to fix some areas. You can find more (and higher quality) pictures here: https://www.flickr.c...th/25889770395/ Thanks for looking!

I hope we get a completely new Toa team down the line. I'd like to see old faces again, but I don't want the story to get too predictable by following characters we already know about. If it's not a reboot, LEGO can use whoever they want! And that's a great idea, Kalhiki.

Thank you! That's really what I was going for. Next up is a Stormer sketch: http://ericgroff.deviantart.com/#/d5ixybe

You made me think about why we haven't gotten any new heroes lately-- LEGO wants to hold onto the ones they have, and give us one of each hero for the whole year. Though, if they returned to teams of six, we could get three new heroes!

Hi all! I'm trying to get back to the EuroBricks community, so here's a thread to post all of my Hero Factory and Bionicle artwork in. You might remember "Natalie" from a while back: http://ericgroff.dev...set=24#/d59fowm Here is more of her that I did today: http://ericgroff.dev...llery/#/d5irm5x I'll be doing a lot of sketches like the one above to improve my own style. Maybe a comic or two! C&C always appreciated :) UPDATES: Stormer: http://ericgroff.deviantart.com/#/d5ixybe

Legends of Chima 2013

I'm pretty excited for this line. The animal theme was a great idea on LEGO's part, I can tell that kids will like it. Looks like each faction has an even army, though I would've liked a set with more balanced vehicles. So from the pictures, I think Speedorz is a battler similar to Ninjago, but with motorized rip-cord vehicles? I'm glad that more comes to a booster pack in this series than Ninjago. I'll pick up a couple of them. I agree, Jargo, give us monkeys! -
Thanks!

Consistent except for one thing: what happened to Smart Bulk of Savage Planet? I'm really happy about the new descriptions, though. I find it a little creepy that Stormer's sword chews through its target, even villains!

Thank you, that part was my favorite. One thing I miss about the 1.0 system was all the detail!
-
Thanks, Aanchir! I'm not sure about the background, I feel like there could've been more to it. The 2.0 system resembles the modern depiction of robots in my mind, and I think it works so well with these figures. Me, too. It felt both odd and refreshing when Bionicle movies transitioned to toy-like appearance and set the stage for the HF movies. I don't know which style I prefer, but both of them influence my artwork. It looks great! You fixed her proportions, and that's what makes the set design convincing. It's hard to pose these guys without deciding what they really are. A robot can have no restrictions in movement, while a human obviously does. I really like your style, though! It's the set accuracy that brings forth a lot of nostalgia; in ten years, that's the art people will remember! Thanks again, and the same to you!

My ears! I... I don't know what to say. Um, thank you very much, and you're lucky there aren't any more female HF characters. :P Filthy Kreon.... Thanks a lot, Vinyl! I used to outline everything, but now I'm trying to work with light and shadow. It's a tedious process!

Nice work! It's a solid build, though from the side it looks like its stomach is missing. Is the jaw articulated?

Breakout Breez finally made it to the U.S., and I'm very happy now! My only gripe is that she's built with the same parts as the male heroes, so there's not much to tell her apart from the guys (I still have family members make this comment about Bionicle and HF figures). So, here's a more feminine Natalie Breez: Link This was really fun, as I haven't spent much time drawing detailed robots. I'll definitely do more, maybe some villains for a change!
-
2012 is such a good year, I wouldn't mind another "Breakout" wave. Von Nebula's plans-stealing implies the creation of Villain Factory, which means more unique and solo villains that have to be stopped by solo heroes. I'd enjoy an ice or underwater theme just as much, but what I liked about 2012 was that each hero had something that made them stand out.

Great job, Nightcruise! Afterburn reminds me of Transformers Prime Soundwave. I hope TLG expands their horizon to include special jobs like Communications and Recon. And CabooseBM, that is just... so cool!
-
The color contrast works on your modified heroes, and I like the custom head on the third design. Good work! And robots can mutate if you want them to, or not if you don't. I don't think that requires any canon justification.
-
Like the Hordika. ;) This is a cool idea, and it works here. I think you could use another Hero color besides silver or white (maybe something that clashes), because it looks like the silver is part of the "beast". Good job, though!

Though he's known for his black armor, I really like that blue on Stringer! And the gunmetal is hardly noticeable in that photo. I just wish he had larger armor shells-- he might look small next to other Breakout heroes.
-
Thanks, Shakar and Aanchir! I figured megaphones were the best to keep Reapa's acid by his hands, while freeing up that 3M armor for fingers. If I didn't have a shortage of that piece I would've used it; though I do like the thick minifig fingers. I loved the stickers on the first villain wave and had to recreate them here-- especially with Reapa's resemblance to Corroder. I agree completely. HF sets are more solid-looking but do lack detail.
-
One thing I noticed is that the technic piece that attaches Stormer's leg armor is perfect for long Bionicle bones. Bionicle figures with HF cladding? I think I found the most useful piece ever. :D While we're still in the winter series, I thought I'd post my Reapa Repaint. Everything is done in acrylic. Link

I gotta say, congratulations for taking on a project of this size-- it's certainly paid off! Great use of the new system. From far away he looks like an element encased in energy, and rather than the element of fire, it looks like his plasma is catching on fire. What I really see here is the next MOC to be featured in a Hero Factory movie.

I really like your style-- very scratchy but overall a cohesive look. Verdes has a great body construction. I'm not sure if the HF armor works here, it's a little simple, I'd like to see more machinery on the arms. Great work, though! Scraps looks like he was basically made from scraps, which is great. Seems like he can get around easily on that light frame; maybe a rear wheel to help him turn? You did well with the parts you had on both of these characters. KUTGW! :)
