Could be-- I have seen these villains around TRU for a while. They must have brought out a new case when all of the other HF sets were gone. Any Breakout sightings at other stores?
-
Last week they had about eight Xplodes. You might be right about the movie appearances, though it's odd that LEGO is reproducing old sets. I also saw Toxic Reapa at TRU-- for $11 USD! I really hope that's not the official price. Looks like Stormer XL was used in the new comic. I'm surprised by the number of summer references so early in the year.

Since I like Umbra's skates, I want to see a Hero Factory version! Happy New Year, everyone!
-
Thanks for the review! Surge's color scheme doesn't look as bad now... but it still has to go. All in all, a really nice set.
-
That is a great idea. I'd love to do that, but I don't think I could bear to beat up the heroes-- not the originals, anyway. It might be worth it to get more than one of a character. With Raw-Jaw done I will probably do the same to Nex. The bags were pretty easy to make, once I found a pattern that worked. I could never make good capes.

Yeah, I find it odd that Breez and Thornraxx aren't showing up in the movie or in stores. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
-
Thanks, guys! I don't know about weathering the heroes-- I want to keep their "factory-fresh" look, but at the same time I want to beat them up!
-
Thank you! I'm always afraid of ruining a set with paint, but I think these turned out well. As soon as I get more 2/3/4.0 heroes I'll update them the same way. Once I saw The Legend Reborn I knew I had to remake the Glatorian. :) It really isn't that hrd to do-- all of my work is in a wash. One figure usually takes an hour at most. Thanks! I don't know what to call the material; Tarduk's pack is almost like felt and doesn't fray at all. Thank you! Like I said, it doesn't take much time at all. I've seen other people paint him and he looks fantastic-- definitely try it out when you can. Raw-Jaw's been painted!

Awesome MOC! How big is it exactly? Poseidon is also a nice throw-together with the pieces you had left.
-
Gear looks awesome. I really like your take on the traditional 2.0 build. Great color scheme and an interesting choice of weapons. KUTGW!

From that picture Breez looks fantastic. I'm definitely picking her up now.
-
I'm not seeing any more previews of the movie, just to keep the rest of it a secret. But I'm wondering, yes or no-- are they still showing the ends of the fight scenes?
-
YES! Lego finally released a shin guard. Check out the Stringer and Core Hunter pictures. I've been wanting this piece for so long. On the side, I can't say I'm too excited for this wave. I'm really glad they extended the Breakout theme, but the heroes don't look too great. In my opinion Stringer and Nex, two of my three favorite characters, look terrible. I'm really hoping these are preliminaries to the preliminaries.

After seeing that video, Breez kind of disappoints me. Her legs are very long and look weird with her small torso. If I get her I'll downsize her to the regular hero build. I'm not sure, but after looking at Splitface I was wondering-- are there two sizes of the new shoulder/knee pad armor?
-
Alright, when I play with Toxic Reapa, he's getting a British accent. Great review! This guy's my favorite villain, and will definitely be bought.
-
I, for one, am glad that they've loaded up a Hero with accessories. It's about time a hero was equipped with everything he needed for a mission. Rocka looks like a great value for his price; I might pick him up.

Hi everyone! I've painted quite a few sets, so I thought I'd share them here. Everything is done in acrylic. Nex 3.0 I had originally intended to give him stripes. These were drawn with a Sharpie. Front Head Now he looks like this. Front Head Core Shield Nitroblast Nitroblast appears almost Metru Red with the wash I gave him. I'll get more pictures of him soon. Head Tube Sword Tank Malum I used a pocket knife to scratch his armor, then painted him. I did this to all the Glatorian. Front Back Chestplate Helmet Claw Vastus The wash I used almost makes Vastus look brown. Front Helmet Torso Scythe Vorox My first. I always thought his tan was too bright. Front Back Helmet Torso Sword Raw-Jaw He's now my favorite repaint. Though the pictures don't show it he looks Metru Red. Half-way through I thought I should give him stripes-- so here he is! Sorry about the picture quality, it's a different camera and wouldn't focus well. Front Back Paw Silverback And here is my Brickshelf folder. I'll be getting pictures of Maxilos, Kaxium V3, Xplode, and Corroder soon. Thanks for looking! EDIT: I might as well throw this in! These are backpacks I made mostly for the Glatorian. The brown one carried by Tarduk is the only one in good shape today.

Hasn't LEGO re-used set numbers in the past?
-
I hope that's real. I'd love to see new heroes-- a fresh start to the theme would be nice. Still, I'm really glad they're extending the Breakout line.
-
Aw man... I really shouldn't have seen that trailer! But the animation looks great, the music is also nice, and the fight scenes are much cooler! I have a feeling that Black Phantom wasn't defeated there, though. I'm actually hoping they'll extend the Breakout theme through the summer. I want more upgraded heroes, and more sweet villains!
-
Out of these three, Green Lantern is my favorite. Even with the extra armor I think this guy looks awesome. I'm probably the only one that will ever rate this set "Outstanding"!
-
I see what you mean, but everything here looks out-of-proportion and ends up ridiculus, in my opinion (I know the Joker is certainly a ridiculous character, but this is unnecessary). I would have preferred the green torso with a printed coat over it, and maybe a new mold for the coat tails. Still, the oversized gun suits him fine.
-
They really should have stopped here. All the extra armor makes him look cluttered, and his color scheme is horrible. Where the upper leg attaches to the new friction joint-- is that a sturdy connection or does it tend to move?
-
Thanks for the review. Jawblade looks pretty cool, I just wish his body was thicker. I'm glad LEGO put a lot of work into their combiners. Now they could be a major selling point of the sets.

Is all of Black Phantom's armor black? Some of it looks like gunmetal grey from the picture. Regardless, this is one of Hero Factory's best titans.
