  1. Oh, that's embarrassing for me. I just assumed since all the other female figs in the strip had female faces that all of them would. Perfectly alright, I hope to see more angle like this. Perhaps in the more X-filesy or action based strips these could prove useful? Woah, exciting stuff, I certainly commend you for putting so much effort into this, thanks a lot for sharing it. Looking forward to the Galanos story and anything really strange with Shwartz naturally, and the others sound neat too (good to hear the robot isn't a oneshot), but the most anticipated for me will still be the date. I don't know, I have a big thing for long running series couples, like Brennan and Booth off Bones, or to a lesser extent Fry and Leela from Futurama Heehee, I already read this before you posted it! I laughed in my seat at the "Your mom!" "Your ex-girlfriend!" "Cheryl!" part, the fight at the end was so good. I'd like to say the camera angles in this one are great too, I haven't seen any blurry photos since WAY back in the robot strip. The thought bubbles are good too, how long have you used those? Probably one little criticism, and it really is little, is that "screech" triangle, it looks a tad iffy. Apart from that little nitpick, this a pretty perfect episode, looking forward to seeing the next one. Batbrick Away!
  2. Oh. My. Goodness! That is a very sexy mod there! Seriously, that car is sexy sexy sexy! I love how you have made the shooter at the front actually look very cool, and the two seater mod is simply perfect, well done! May I please do the same? (or atleast attempt it?) The new stereo is great, thanks for forcibly installing it, too bad Brainbox missed out on the hotties, I guess he deserves it, not being a dc character and all I have to say though it doesn't look like I'm really impressed by my hottie, maybe I'm just drooling... Fantastic work The Penguin, I love my new car, thanks a lot for including me, no need to ask, I'm an attention whore I love your Earl minifig too, and the Gotham Bank and Arkham teams look fantastic, great use of the Henry Sr head! The gangsters look great too, the fedora really suite them. Can you please post a picture of the whole batmobile mod please? Fantastic work as always The Penguin, I hope to see more from you! Batbrick Away!
  3. Thanks, sounds awesome, is it? I love the concept, I might look into it after getting a few more necessary early Batman year novels. Only some from that era? SOME? DIE! DIE! DIE! :skull: Just kidding of course, but i do recommend a further look into that era, it is considered by myself and many others as the pinnacle of Batman comicdom. Plus, some of the best Joker stories ever are there: Sign of the Joker, The Laughing Fish, Strange Apparitions, Five Way Revenge and so forth, I would recommend all those deifintely. Maybe pick up the Greatest Joker Stories ever told book, it includes most of these I can respect that, I just find the stories becoming increasingly uninspired and over reliant on gore and murder. For instance, the No Man's Land arc boiled down to a cliche "Joker kills someone close to Bats and/or Gordon, will they give in to murder?" event, and I'm getting sick of the overly depressing stories and blood crazed villains. Seriously, since when did Mr.J enjoy blood that much anyway? Far as I know it was the punchline he loved, not arterial sprays. I guess it is interesting this way though, us at opposite ends of the spectrum, me loving the classics, you loving the modern, and there is nothing wrong with that. You understand what i mean though don't you? Oh, I'm very sorry, I completely forgot about that, tell your friend i'm sorry for taking so long And I loved that goggle design too, very neat. So what do you think of Clayface in the new game? I liike ihm, but hope he has some morphing abilities. And please tell me you've watched some BTAS? Please? Batbrick Away!
  4. Well I accidentally ordered a replacement part when trying to find the price of it under the quickly scribbled name of "mistre sffc" and it came in for free - with phony name attached Even though I accidentally ordered it, it actually was quite convenient, as I had worried if I had to pay shipment. Also, my Niddhog's leg snapped a week before it arrived so yay! Batbrick Away!
  5. Hello EB, and welcome to "I couldn't be bothered including sigfig's" reviews! Today I'll be reviewing the awesome Adventurers set Tygurah's Roar of the Orient Expedition line, subtheme India. I picked this set up with the spiderman two dock in Devonport, and I can't say I regret it. It is a fantastic little set with wonderful parts for mocing. Here is a picture of the box, I always loved the Adventurers art: The back. I really miss the age of alternate models, and these look fantastic, I might build them. The throne on the right is especially cool, I prefer these far above technic shooters and flick fire missiles: Instruction booklet, I really love the map art, and the way the booklet appears as a map: And included within is this hilarious and awesome comic, I really enjoyed it: Back of the instruction booklet, again with wonderful art! The set also includes a cool playing card. Since this is my first intact, boxed Orient Expedition set this is my first card, so I win everytime I guess. Still, I love that these sets have everything, showing with all TLC's new design, they really yet have to capture the true heart of these kind of sets again It also comes with a nice foldout showing the card game once one has collected all sets, which is neat. Someday... The back ads were a little disappointing to me because I am not interested in racers and already have the entire series of old StarWars minis. Oh well, still very nice: Now finally onto the set: First up, the figs. This set comes with the common but always adorable Dr.Killroy, and beast Tygurah. Killroy comes also with the Orient Expedition print which is new to me, so I"m glad with that. Tygurah and the other maxifigs I feel are very underrated, as they certainly suit as large guardians and look very intimidating. I for one really like them, what do you think? Tygurah has a tail also, and his body is a single piece: It also means he comes with some of those very rare dark orange colour pieces, which is cool. Overall I'm very happy to have him and he looks wonderful on display: Now, the set itself. I like how it is a sort of raised, open mini temple, like a preserved ruin for Tygurah. It looks very neat and well coloured to the India theme: Here is the jewel, not nearly the coolest part of this set, but still welcome, one can never have too many diamonds *starts singing the 007 Diamonds are Forever tune* As you can see on the dark blue 1x2 one studded tiles, this is where Tygurah stands: And doesn't he look intimidating? The only gripe I have is his lack of eyes. The snake does come with the set: I just have to point out that this is one of the coolest printed pieces ever! I love it so much, I will definitely use it for my Indy/Adventurer display. The scimitars are extremely welcome to me as well, for these are the first I have of these. I have heard complaints of them being oversized, and while this is true, in certain minifigs (the ones who look like they could control such a weapon) it looks rather good. I'll definitely give one to a Ra's Al Ghul fig I'm making: More wonderful dark orange in the form of these pillars. TheBrickster, did you get yours from this and the Indian temple set? Anyway, these are fantastic and like almost every piece of this set it will find a use in my display: Now onto the cool mechanism. What I love about this is that unlike new sets the play feature does not detract from the overall model. You might be able to see the second platform in this shot which can be pulled out by the second lower yellow plate. Great inclusion of the ladder too: By pulling it out you subject Tygurah to a rather lame death that makes him fall not even 45 degrees forward. Still, using a normal minifig it works fine: But wait! Keep pulling, and there is the cool effect of each individual wood plank falling one by one closer to our protagonist: Oh he's down! The whole thing can eventually be removed. I must say I love the poor doctor's death pose in this pic. All in all it is one of my favourite play features in a set I've seen, pulling it out fast is really fun for any person because it just works so perfectly and smoothly: Another view of this awesome set: And I must say it is a gold mine of pieces. Here they are, two of those great leave pieces, two scimitars, two flames (can never have enough of those), a snake, a magnifying glass, four dark orange pillars, a snake, a skull (another thing you can never have enough of), a diamond, an old brown ladder and one of the coolest printed pieces ever: Design: 4/5 - A superb mini temple with wonderful styling, and all the wonderful pieces fulfill it, not detract it. It is a tad flimsy at the back though. Build: 5/5 - i built this in a travelling car back to Launceston and still had fun, and when I finished it back home I loved adding the brown tiles. Playability: 5/5 - The only thing stopping you from using that play feature for hours is the necessity to keep placing the brown tiles again! Minifigs: 4/5 - I personally think they are wonderful, but I understand some won't like Tygurah. Pieces: 5/5 - I would've bought two if there was another there, so many wonderful pieces. Price: 5/5 - A perect price for a near perfect set. Overall: 28/30 A set that is a MUST HAVE for those who see it and a higlhy recommended for those that haven't, it really is a set just a notch below perfection. thanks for reading my review. Batbrick Away!
  6. I love how nice and caring people still find time to hang others and lead a genocidal rebellion in the future Batbrick Away!
  7. Actually it fits perfectly with the theme, with all the famous bar memories of Wilde West many a person would make their own moonshine illegally, and sell it (or take it themselves!). Fantastic moc TheBrickster, I certanily didn't see this coming. I love how the parts are used, especially the trans red jug. It really gives that cobbled together and homemade look. I love the story in this one too, great use of the werewolf fig. Do you use old brown or new brown in your mocs? I can't tell. Anyway, fantastic work! Batbrick Away!
  8. Where was Ventriloquist? I never noticed anything Batbrick Away!
  9. Missed this! Your friend is pretty smart BB, I love the goggles, I tried something similar once with a different headpiece (this one is better though). The commandos look really cool, great use of torsos and headpieces. That upperclass one is a little, er, upperclass though The kill jar jar one is actually really good, I laughed when I saw it - "What are you waiting for? He is going anywhere!" And the commando vig is also very good, love the shrubbery, nice combination of those pieces, and the figs look very nice, and are positioned very well. But I love the goggles most, great work! Batbrick Away!
  10. Haha, I was missing Verwaand. Glad to see the Meteor Madness ice cream come into it again too, but I think I have a small prediction of what could happen . And um, wow! That couple really was queer! (sorry, I couldn't resist that jab) Great work, I love the camera angles on this one, especially that last panel, that was cool, you're definitely still improving. Oh, and speaking of characters, Batbrick Away!
  11. It is 35 Au When did you tell me this!? No, it is a great set, and I love just how darn easy it is to mod. Sure, I'll try and get it up sometime. What are you doing with poor Robin? Actually, though I loathe to admit, in real life the flick fire missiles out the top actually look kind of cool It isn't available on Aus S@h as far as I know too. Batbrick Away!
  12. I wasn't expecting to se Clayface either but it's great to have him, really shows that the makers are unafraid of delving into all parts of the mythos. I like the way he is done, I think the angle of the pic makes him look strange, I really hope this means we'll get him and Gordon next year. And yes, fantastic to see Bane. Batbrick Away!
  13. Licence to Kill- Great and very underrated 07 movie, I love the idae of James Bond losing his licence to kill and going on a revenge mission for his friend. The tanker chase at the end is fantastic. Goldeneye- Another brilliand Bond movie, Brosnan does a great turn as 007, and the villain is one of my favourites. Excellent dialogue, and does a great examination of Bond's character without removing the essentials. Fracture- A very cool psychological movie starring Anthony Hopkins as yet another homicidal psycho who kills his wife. He is a brilliant man and has executed the murder so intelligently that he represents himself in court and still looks to win. A lawyer who opposes him goes to great lenghts to stop him. This is a slow movie but exciting nonetheless, the ending and its irony is simply prefect. Sweeney Todd- Wonderful macabre film with great singing. The story is simple enough but pulls you in, and the ending is greay. One gripe is that the message of the original play and novel (a tale paralleling man's attitude to each other in a dog eat dog world) has been diluted somewhat. I wasn't surprised though, Tim Burton is a great director but his strength is in his visual flair, themes and messages were never his strong suit. Stranger than Fiction- A rather slow movie, but it gets more interesting as it goes. Will Ferell does a fantastic job as the serious and plain Harold Crick who starts hearing a woman narrate his life and foreshadowing his death. The humour in it may get some (like me) but not others, but overall I found it a unique and likeable film. Batbrick Away!
  14. Wow! Brilliant work Stauder, I love it even more than the set! The front part of the Indy duck is very ugly in my opinion, and yours looks like a true blue private duck. Great work, I might even build my own someday! Batbrick Away!
  15. The temple is a great set that a lot of people have bought. Batbrick Away!
  16. Great game so far Dragonator, i'm really having fun, thanks for doing it, even if Hinckely is doing that thing he does Batbrick Away!
  17. Hello EB! Yes, I'm cranking out the reviews! The other day I picked up this gem for an okay sales price at Devonport, Tas, while searching for the new Batsets. I informed iamded of this as he is a Spidey-suckup ( ) and he informed me this was the only set he didn't have of the Wave 2 of this theme. So I ask you great EB members to please remind him of this when commenting! Here we go with the review of Doctopus' lair: Anyway, unlike other reviews, this stars more people, the Batbrick-iamded-dragonator-Daisy review! (Daisy is the mouse that came in the set) First up re the figs, and I must say they are great. I love fleshies and these are excellent to expand my Batman world, plus having a Spiderman to beat up is good too Doctopus is great, though his tentacles are annoying to keep in order. Peter Parker is a nice addition, I love that torso. Eve though Harry Osborn was totally absent from this scene, I welcome him as he is a good fig also. Best of all is Mary Jane, fleshie females are hard to come by and I love that hair, my very first one! Oh, and even better is bley Daisy on the far right: Another fantastic thing is that by mixing MJ with Doctopus you get a far more deadly and real villain than anyone could've forseen - The Hippy! Oh c'mon, tell me that ain't cool? Anyhoo, here is a pic of Doctopus showing his might: Random fact: Did you know I influence both dragonator and iamded in their sigfigs? dragonator adapts his from my IA series while iamded added Mutt hair when I had him like that in a pic I posted. Now onto the box, sorry about the lighting. The art is good and the cartoon spidey in the corner may have beenthe inspiration for a similar style in the new Batsets: Back of the box. Again, sorry about the lighting and blur, it was gtting late and these were the last pics: Finally we get to the first part of the set: The catapult. Is that movie accurate or what? I love the part in SM2 when he uses his homemade genetic spider powered catapult to launch himself to the scene! Oh well, it does comes with a cool spider web an trans blue spider, so it gets some points: And it is really fun! I launched spidey several metres once, I don't think he ever recovered. Infact, he almost certainly webbed himself Slightly cooler extras are these two. This awesome little boat is great for city, as is the simple but nice bouy, Daisy approves: Naturally dragonator ruins everything when he found out the "dragon" that would be riding with him was our nickname for Daisy Now finally, the main attraction - Coctopus' Dock. iamded and I threw dragonator in the water to see if he could swim. He er, couldn't One Sweeney todd later, we continue! The overall construction of the building is very good. I know a lot of people hated stickers and i hated applying these, but they do look spectacular and perfect for any City setting, like a bank, a Gotham Bank As iamded has already noted below me the black lifesavers a very cool as are the web piece and log pieces: The inside contains the neutron copperplate triple bypass humdrum holy hum 5000, which does does, see movie. Anyhoo, it is very cool, and includes a little control thingy on the yellow brick next to it. Unfortunately, the inside is plain but for that: The other side has no wall too which is a bit of a letdown really, but atleast it allows Daisy easy access. one gripe is those yellow 1x1 bricks, they serve no purpose and break up the colour scheme: Better shot of the thingy thing. I quite like it, the use of technic parts actually works, and the whole set is worth it for those purple flames and dishes alone It closes up pretty well too, unable to hit the dish which is a nice feature: Me and iamded liked it so much we threw a revived dragonator into it. Unfortunately it disagreed with him, but it was fun: Another shot of the dock. I like how they have gaps in the jetty, I know the movie version was pretty wack, and although the set isn't very faithful to it (looks more like a seaside library to be frank) it still is very nice. This is my first large blue baseplate too which is wonderful, though funny how the set only uses about half of it: The roof is a well designed and fun feature, it uses some technic connections to render it flexible of any degree, as you can see here by my opening of it: Better shot of the roof design, it can lie flat or at any angle. I might use the design myself in the future: As much as I love the building this feature bugs me, for in order for it to work this wall has to stick out, which not only looks ugly but makes you be able to see through the corners. Still, easily modded, and log pieces are fantastic for mocing. It also means that there are 7 windows all up for a good, sizeable building: By pulling out the piece in the center the walls both collapss sideways outwards, which is actually pretty fun and works everytime: Overall view of the set including characters: Now for the story that makes no sense....at all: Spiderman is dead after falling down the wall mechanism (see above): Only Daisy can save the day! For dragonator is being held by the evil Doctopus! And iamded and dragonator are too busy not caring! And Brainbox is too busy complaining that this goes against all Marvel continuity! Unfortunately Daisy is on a lunchbreak so tough luck dragonator: And Daisy goes on a search for fortune and glory: Okay, this is what I think of the set: Build: 3/5 - Fun, but those stickers ruin the experience somewhat, and if you don't apply them the instructions are a bit hard to follow. Playability: 4/5 - Great little gizmos and bits, not the kind that keep you going like with the 2007 Aquabase, but good fun still. Design: 4/5 - Not very movie faithful no, but still a great little building and a smart design for certain aspects. Minifigs: 5/5 - Great figs with all different faces and very useful bits. Price: 2/5 Far, FAR overpriced even on sale sadly Total: 18/25 - A good set that could've been better with a few minor changes. Nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't really cross the line to greatness. That said, it has a lot going for it and definitely worth buying or atleast a look! Thanks for reading Batbrick Away!
  18. The "1" always gets me, why do people do that? Are they trying to put a "!" mark in? Yes, this has happened a few times to me, it is fairly embarrassing. Still, looking through an old 2006 Batman thread, a spammer managed to get twice the limit of emoticons with this "cheat"! A guy tried to quote him but couldn't! Batbrick Away!
  19. Oh no, I've just used a couple of pieces in permanent mocs. Nothing too serioues though, I reckon a battle will be called for after I get that Troll Ship. Batbrick Away!
  20. Thanks very much mate, I'm really happy you commented, thanks! Funny thing, I only realised that johnny Thunder would be pregnant after people mentioned it Thanks keetong, glad to have served as inspiration, I look forward to seeing yours. Fair enough, thanks for that. I'll probably try it out, but not quite yet, as I don't want to ruin it before I post it in the Indy comp. For now i'll just use the excuse that the Natives are taking care of it! Thankyou a lot TheBrickster for commenting on this, it mean a lot Glad you like the entrance palm leaves too, they were a feature I was pretty proud of. I was quite worried that the islander shields would look out of place so thanks for that comment, I had no idea what people would think of that. Yes, I might make the rock face a little more obvious later too, perhaps a larger mouth and wider eyes. The best temple you've sen though? Wow, thanks a lot! Yes, I'll definitely be adding it to a display I'm, working on, thanks again! Thanks Phred, and thanks for adding to that index, very nice of you. Thanks again everyone! Batbrick Away!
  21. Hi Iceman. Welcome to EB I understand that henchman do beef up the display quite a bit. As a big Batman collector myself I'd say the following is good: Catwoman: None, she doesn't need a henchman Killer Croc: Probably none, but you could try and give him a generic gangster like gang. Two-Face: The henchman from the Batmobile set. Do you have him? Well, once/if you do, you could create copy decals to put on other white minifigs to give him a lot of henchman, or just two Joker: I'm all for the plain purple shirted one, but I think they really look get if you "clown" them up. For instance give them purple exo-force hair. Penguin: I have three Penguins, so I find a great way for henchman is to use Pengy's torso on normal black legs with a different face. Mr.Freeze: Here is where I'm stumped, though Mr.Freeze doesn't often have followers, maybe bricklink those winter jacket pieces? Riddler: I think his torso could work, but with a different face definitely. Scarecrow: A nightmarish gang would look great with those pumpkin heads he has. That's all I've got for now, hope that helped! Batbrick Away!
  22. Actually, I believe this was first. Though I think this could all be helped if the topic was pinned Batbrick Away!
  23. I made it. Why feel sorry for me? Batbrick Away!
  24. I like that rule, big pictures, especially HUGE ones, really get on my nerves. Batbrick Away!
  25. Very sorry! I missed this one! Anyway, I really like this one (as usual), the making fun of the stranger side of space is a very good direction to go, I especially remember the rather low ATV being mentioned before. The sheer randomness of the first part is my favourite though, castles in space. I don't know if that will be a plotline, but the guy's monologue cracks me up. I understood it clearly! However, I think in future a black and white panel could help those not clear, as well as adding a certain style to it. Batbrick Away!
