Does anyone have any more recent lists for castle bits on PAB? Some folks on the Lego medieval discord are discussing the topic

Love it. And 100 percent agree, Wardancer, and would add that if anything lego should be embarrassed by how many more options we have outside of their brand for quality LOTR bits and bobs. Always appreciate your creativity in this forum!

LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

My hope would be for E wing and Y wing, though I wouldn’t be upset about an E wing plus “bad guy ship” pack -
LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I’m really not a fan I’d call this one a fail, missed opportunity for a molded neck or headpiece that they could re-use in a Jabba-related set -
Looks like 4x Gimli axes 4x elven blades (see Arwen drawing on the Nine at the ford) 2x updated Sting 2x shards of Narsil 2x Aragorn’s Dunedain longsword 2x Boromir’s broadsword

Bricklink is a pretty good start. You can find entries there that match the condition of your sets and geographic vicinity — you can then set the price accordingly. I do a lot of swapping locally and we use the bricklink standard for figuring out what trades are equivalent. Discount from those prices if you need to sell quick

I’m on the ridged shoulder train. Fiddling around with configurations for a Rohan hero and finding that armor was just *chef’s kiss*

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

the helmets are great! I picked some up from a bricklink seller a couple months ago, knew they were legit once I had them in hand, then was very confused when they weren’t included in the Viking ship set -

Gray armored knight with gold visor reported to be in CMF series 23. Hope that means the visor mold is back! My wallet hurts trying to equip my men-at-arms and knights -
10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set

Anything about specific accessories in there? I saw the statement about a variety of weapons, but thoughts about knights’ moveable visors, or reintroduction of some of the other helmet types in silver or metallic colors? If horse barding is happening then I’m thrilled!- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
josebricks replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yep. I have torsos that I flipped to have a plain blue French crossbowman (quivers cover most of the falcon crest), and with an armor over top they look good as well, with the metallic arms and leg detail complementing it well. Got some extra legs to add to KTown blue torsos with brigandine… need to build a big 100-years war MOC now haha- 2,976 replies

No idea how good an indicator this is, but some European sellers have the new Viking helmet in bulk in pearl dark gray. Wondering if this means that will be in the creator Viking set…

Wow! I would love to be able to get the troll armor/helmet from Minas Tirith….so sad they never made the mold

Not to my knowledge, though the revival wouldn’t necessarily have to start right away. The original theme came out in 2012, eleven years after the movies launched. I would think that “cartoon-y” spin offs like the Rohirrim movie would help down the line…perhaps after (if) the show is successful. Purely speculative, but still fun to think about as a medieval/LotR builder.

This build looks very crisp, a good combination of shapes! Keeping a uniform color keeps it from looking overly “busy” visually, which I think can clutter a lot of medieval/historic builds. Great work :)

Glad to see in the latest info, that the show will aim to appeal to “11, 12, and 13” year olds, negating the R-rated GoT fear that would preclude a Lego line

I had a hand in my local Costco running out of the Castle 3-in-1, and it only lasted a couple weeks there (albeit at 25% off). Walmart near me seems to always have stock of both that and the pirate ship, not consistently sold out like some of the Star Wars sets though. I could see there being a forestmen set, with lots of the greens then being available for a large dragon build. Or perhaps an age of invention set, with a main biplane build being convertible to a large bicycle or small telegraph or radio station scene.

True! I was in my dark age for all but the last couple Hobbit sets, and though I was able to get multiples of some sets for cheap cheap (RIP USA Toys R Us), I would kill for a chance to go back and get some of the LotR sets

Overall thoughts: just in brainstorming these few basic ideas, I think that a middle earth theme with a large number of sets would be difficult. If the show has monstrous trolls, dragons, and the like, then I could see buildable creatures helping to make a line with broader appeal. Ships would help as well. If Lego does revive, then I could see the more recent adult-centric marketing being another alternative, perhaps with a modular series expanding into each of the cultures depicted in the show. I see the biggest problem as being the difficulty in having sets that are cheap enough, but having enough detail to give dwarven and elven architecture justice, not to mention the varied cultures of numenor, umbar, harad, and proto-Rohan.

Thanks! First wave sets possible: Scene: Eregion Forge— Celebrimbor, “pretty” Sauron, random elf as figures, build setup similar to the Mandalorian forge set if a small set, otherwise a larger blacksmith-size set with elven architecture Scene/structure: Dwarven-themed doors to Moria, perhaps with a small market outside, treasure room inside Buildable figure: troll or ice-troll, facing off against an elven and human solider. This with the presumption that the “baddies” will be a little more off in the distance and monstrous compared to LotR. Perhaps with a wraith of some kind as well. Vehicle/ship: Trading vessel, either of Umbar (stylized middle eastern theme) or Numenor (medieval with just a hint of steampunk perhaps) Second wave: Larger structure: build in a more modular style and size, strong architectural link to Rivendell, includes several main elven characters. This could be either a house or lesser palace Buildable creature: Oliphaunt, includes a small scene with a ruler of Harad (one of the ring bearers/Ringwraith-to-be) Vehicle: nomadic wagon—Rohan precursor humans, depicted as more nomadic, so with a steppe/Mongol vibe and thus the vehicle as a large dwelling-on-a-wagon. They could be barbaric, but more like Vikings than Game of Thrones horse-lords obviously

Is this an appropriate place to hypothesize/speculate on the sets they might make from the Rings of Power? Certainly the poster art is not much to go off of, but isn’t that half the fun?

At the very least, I look forward to seeing a whole new generation of LotR MOCs. Jumping back into the archives (2012-2015) just shows what the community was willing to make on their own without Lego providing a completed theme. The art direction for the show has me very excited

I like the presentation of (presumably) birch trees!
