LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 29. Rumors and discussion
UberCorp replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Now seeing the full line up: Tahu is absolutely perfect, but is really the only one that's a must buy for me. Hopefully we eventually get the rest of the original Toa in future series. I'm disappointed the Marine Biologist is another wetsuit since there's a lot of minifigs of that already but will still try and grab one for the snorkel hair and clown fish as well as one of the Unicorn Princess. Probably will pick up Lloyd for parts but I'm not a fan of the green eye design and that hair/mask piece is super ugly IMO. On the fence about the Monster Hunter. Rest aren't appealing. -

Was hoping for a more medieval/fantasy monster hunter but this is kinda interesting. Makes me want to build a Call of Cthulhu-esque vignette with her and the Steampunk Inventor Tahu looks good so far and isn't obviously designed to look like a costume which is a plus. -

About half of these sound like purchases for me, which is more than I usually pick up so pretty excited for this series. Marine Biologist with a new fish mold is exciting. I would love for them to be in a blue button up and red beanie as a tribute to Jacque Cousteau. Unicorn Elf looks good. I like the use of the Wonder Woman tiara piece, though slightly disappointed isn't using a piece that has elf ears. Monster Hunter could go in a couple directions. Wonder if it'll be the more modern-ish vibe of the Monster Fighter theme or a more fantasy look like Geralt or Diablo's Demon Hunter. Hoping for the later Robot T-Rex I assume is probably a costume but could be cool if it's a Grimlock/Mecha Godzilla esque figure instead. Tahu being a cosplayer makes me apprehensive. I really hope it looks decent enough as a stand in for Tahu and isn't super obvious as being a costume. Even though I'm not a Ninjago fan, I hope the Lloyd figure has good parts. Though calling him a Ronin makes me hope we get another printed samurai chest piece. Super long shot, but a few years back a canceled Vidiyo witch hat/hair piece was leaked that had opalescent trans blue hair and a black/purple hat that I would love to see on the Cute Witch -

Very interested to see how Tahu turns out. Nice to be thrown a small bone for Bionicle's 25th anniversary. For Lloyd I agree that it seems a bit odd to include a character who gets multiple minifigs a year in a non-themed CMF series. Makes me wonder if it's actually meant to be a reference to the two green ninjas from the Castle subtheme that the leaker mistook for Lloyd. Either way, I hope it uses the classic ninja mask cause the green version is ridiculously expensive now. -

Unfortunately out of my price range but the build looks great (and it’s huge). Really hoping it well enough to open the door for more non-OT UCS sets in the future. -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I’m thinking the monster in the FFH set is just going to be something generic made up by Lego and not from the movie (like the tentacle portal in the first Doctor Strange set) -
Personally was really looking forward to the Bionicle set, but looks like it has a low little chance of being funded. Disappointing but given its $100+ for a system set I can see why it doesn’t appeal to most fans. Though I’m guessing this means they won’t pick the theme for the 90th anniversary vote either even if it had the most votes due to being way less popularity than the Classic Castle.
-
The first one was disqualified after hitting 10k but before the review stage started. I believe due to the designer being a LEGO employee or something. Still a slim chance of being picked though
-
Mosasaurus is pretty much the main thing I want out of a set (plus Spinosaurus). Though if they do it it will probably be either a) scaled down to the size of the T-Rex/Indominus (I think that’s even about the size actually ones were since the one in JW is scaled up) or b) be a brick built like the T-Rex in 75936.

Probably the best bet would be for him to appear in a “what if?” set if they do more from the series -
I did not know about the designer, so that does alleviate some of my grievance with it. For me, I just dislike how 90% of pride month is companies going “we slapped a rainbow on this. buy it.” It’s a practice that just feels disingenuous as a whole even when the intentions do happen to be good.

Gotta love that Rainbow Capitalism Maybe if they donate proceeds to charity, but otherwise it’s just a shameless cash grab.

Surprising that the video game and set licenses are different, since they were allowed to have Stan Lee be a character in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. -

From the Reddit AMA “Marvel came up with the idea for him to be Ron Barney. He already had this appearance.” So it sounds like the Barney fig was originally going to be a generic Daily Bugle employee until Marvel suggested naming him. -

Well crap. Maybe someday LEGO will release a realistically available minifig. -

A classic suit Spider-Woman still has a possibility of showing up, right? Cause technically she could count as a repeat minifigure since she was a SDCC exclusive. -
The Wolf and Ghost are pretty great looking, though the blind boxes pretty much guarantees I won’t watch buy any directly. Will try and pick up those two off Bricklink though. Hopefully this doesn’t become the standard for all blind figures.
-
Well that’s disappointing. Only 1 out of 35? I was hoping LEGO would be expanding their approval numbers due to the huge increase in projects making it to 10k
-
Was not expecting Bionicle to make it into the final vote, but it sure is a welcome surprise.
-
As a life long Bionicle fan, I just want anything related to the original story and care less about the building system. A huge reason Gen 2 fell flat for me was despite being constraction and sharing names as the original wad they rebooted the story and lost the decade of books and comics that the original line had built up. Which IMO made it feel less like Bionicle than it could have. I would be way more than happy getting a system set if that’s what it requires to get the theme to be thrown a bone.
-
Lets go, Bionicle! I wish we had got one thing this year for the anniversary, but maybe this will hive it one last chance at a set (even if its reg. system). Also chose Rock Raiders and Aquazone. Lots of good themes for a revival set but when there’s the theme “staples” like Classic Space/Pirates/Castle as options, it feels like most of them don’t even have a chance of winning.

This wave looks like a wishlist someone posts here and is then called overly optimistic Mandalore Throne - Buy. The duel sets are great so I like this. Slightly less exciting since we just got S7 Ahsoka last year but still will prob be a good pickup. Troop Transport - Buy. Love the vehicle so this is one of my favorites of the wave. I am very excited for the mortar trooper (now we just need an incinerator trooper). Also a cheaper way to pick up Greef Slave 1 - Pass. Already have the UCS, so I don’t care about this one. The 20th version at least had a character exclusive to it, so this just feels kinda lackluster. Mandalorian Fighter - Buy. Hoping this is the Nightbrother, though a lack of Maul makes that unlikely. And finally, minifig for Katan (and Saxon). Bad Batch Shuttle. - Maybe. This is a maybe for me, mostly depending on how the show is since their appearance in CW was so short. Mostly surprised that they included all five in the set. Gideon’s Cruiser - Maybe. Reserving my judgement on the final set design. Also Gideon is really the only fig I really want from it, so we’ll see. Gunship- Pass . Very disappointed on the price. First prequel UCS in a decade and it’s out of my budget. Meditation Chamber - Maybe. The 18+ tag on this makes me hope for a more intricate/complex build. Hoping it includes the detailed Vader from the Death Star duel set. -
I feel like Among Us is unlikely. The game’s popularity is already dwindling (everyone I know who played it religiously a few months back have almost all stopped) and there’s still a long time before it could even start hitting shelves

IMO, if 75309 is the Gunship, that price feels quite high for the ship. Very disappointing, as I voted for it but was expecting it to be $200. But if it is $350, I just can’t justify the purchase. I assume I’m not alone in this, which is a bit worring that it may contribute to lower sales and harm the chance of future prequel-era UCS sets. -

I wonder it the 2HY UCS could be a Home One that’s close in size to 75252 (though I believe to exact scale Home One is larger). We have never actually gotten the ship as a set (besides the interior set from 2009), despite it being the flagship of the Rebel fleet.
