LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
ARC2149Nova replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The visor is the biggest giveaway, it's way too thick to be official, not to mention the squash of the T-Visor and the thinness of the pads on the top. It sucks, but I suppose we're going yet another year without Cody. I was rewatching the Season 7 trailer just now, and I noticed that the 501st is on Mygeeto (like in 2005's Battlefront II). The most notable troopers (aka the only ones) in that scene are pretty much 501st Jet Troopers, so hopefully they'll be a safe bet, seeing as how the last CIS AAT (from 2009), came with the appropriate trooper (a plain one, which wasn't hard but still). Anakin does seem to fly his interceptor during a space battle (presumably Anaxes), so there's that. BARC Speeders aren't seen at all in the trailers, but it could be some weird mashup from ROTS, and not Clone Wars related. On a side note, even though we're not going to get animated prints anymore, would Lego possibly pull a Star Wars Rebels and give us two distinct prints for Clones? One for movie-specific Clones, and one to fit in with the prior 501st/212th/104th/Coruscant Guard troops? I ask because I did manage to collect a few animated 212th and 501st troopers, and would love to get Jet Troops and 91st in the same style. I realize though not everyone thinks that way, but they did do it for SWR, so maybe they will for TCW? (At least as far as Clones go). -

Fixed that for you. The other two are far from confirmed. Edit: Got twice! -

Maybe a clean version of the 212th trooper? Since the 2014 figure was battle worn. Which still wouldn't be enough reason to buy the damn thing. Or another Airborne. Or the TCW color-scheme (bright yellow-orange and not orange). Or just a poor excuse for a set all around. I mean, three figures for $80, none of them unique or particularly interesting. This is why Star Wars is getting its blocks kicked by Ninjago. Oh hell no. If Lego's that stupid, I'm not buying another new Star Wars set, ever. I'll stick with high prices for retired sets on eBay. -

Boba Fett and Stormtrooper Helmets, D-O (like the large BB-8 and Yoda), and an unknown April set... It's the least interesting of the two waves. EDIT: NINJA'D! -

Don't get too excited, minifigures aren't known, that's just speculation. We could get let down (as Lego seems wont to do). -
Well since those were so well received, I'm taking a stab at a couple others: Echo Defenders vs Blizzard Force: Trey Callum, Four Hoth Rebel Troopers, Snowtrooper Commander, Three Snowtroopers, Hoth Scout Trooper. (More of a traditional army-builder) The 501st Legion I: Captain Rex (Phase I), Echo (Battle of Kamino), Fives (Battle of Kamino), Denal, Mixer, Redeye, Kix, Hardcase, Jesse, 501st Jet Trooper (Phase I; essentially a Lieutenant sans dots). The 501st Legion II: Captain Rex (Phase II), ARC Trooper Fives, Kix, Jesse, Hardcase, Dogma, Tup, Oz & Ringo (2 501st Troopers), 501st Jet Trooper. Rogue One: Jyn Erso (Eadu Outfit with hair), Cassian Andor, Ruescott Melshi, Taidu Sefla, Eskro Casrich, Yosh Calfor, Arro Basteren, Stordan Tonc, Jav Mefran, Farsin Kappehl. (A few repeats, with Jav, Melshi, and Calfor being knew, Sefla and Tonc getting new heads) EDIT FOR A 2021 BATTLE PACK IDEA I hope Lego's listening, because I have the perfect unique and obscure battle pack from the Clone Wars final season! It's highly unlikely and would make a lot of folks scratch their heads in bewilderment, which is perfect for Lego's track record! Recon Troopers: Four 91st Recon Troopers (The ones on Anaxes with the weird markings). Speeder Bike. I actually loved seeing these clones in the animatics, and seeing them fully animated in their unique deco in the trailers makes me want them so bad. So hear me Lego, I will commit to buying 100 battle packs if you do this. In all seriousness, there'll most likely be a battle pack with some 332nd clones, which wouldn't be too bad, but would no doubt sell less than a Windu's Legion Battle Pack! .

I don't know. It could be, in which case it's actually two BARC Speeders, if not three. But since that'd be awfully redundant of Lego (and Order 66 related, which is a sore subject for TLG), it's more likely a rehash of Barc Speeder and Sidecar, but with a regular speeder, a CIS Speeder, and four or so figures. Also, the Razorcrest rumor sounds amazing if true. But I'm reserving judgement for actual confirmation. Nothing exciting like Bo-Katan (which would really irk me ), but possibly a Jet Trooper (which would sate me well ). No figures are known at this point though, so who knows. -

Now that the final sets have leaked, minifig speculation time! (NOT INSIDE INFO. I'm not that lucky ) AAT: Will most likely be based on the Anaxes Arc, and come with 2 Battle Droids, Possibly Trench, Jesse, and a Jet Trooper. Anakin's Interceptor: Anakin and R2 obviously, with a 501st Trooper as the third figure. BARC Speeder: A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Rex, Ahsoka, 332nd Trooper. These are just random guesses, but I forsee the BARC Speeder being the only Mandalore related set, with maybe one of the extra set numbers (the recently leaked ones) as a surprise set. Anakin's Interceptor is the only one we can really tell, since two of the figures are obvious. The 501st won't get a battle pack anytime soon, but putting a few unique members across 3 cheap sets could be Lego's attempt at a compromise. We've got to at least see the Jet Trooper, since it's the safest 501st option (and the coolest). Again, this is speculation only. -

That would make almost no sense, unless they give us repeats of Ap'lek and Ushar, which is equally unlikely. My guess is that Cardo and Kuruk will be in the Night Buzzard (with the pilot), and two of those red guards (the really hard to see ones) would be in any hypothetical Duel set. -
Sorry for bumping the thread with a double post, but no one's posted since and I had more ideas. I was reading through the Brickset article on Battle Packs again, and some of the ideas were good, some were interesting, and some completely missed the scope of a battle pack (to army build). But one person made an interesting observation: that Lego's been giving us one "True" battle pack (made to army build), and one "Character Pack" (with four unique/named/one-off figures). Examples of the one include the Praetorian Guards and the Sith Troopers, and examples of the other include Inferno Squad and the Mandalorians. Which made me think about the ideal wave with both of these. So, I'm going to do four battle pack ideas, two troop focused ones, one character pack, and one named/three generic troopers pack. Endor Rebels Battle Pack: Two Human Rebel Commandos (one in flesh, and one in nougat), One Zabrak Female Rebel Commando (Battlefront II inspired), One Ishi Tib Rebel Commando (Battlefront II inspired) Anaxes Troopers Battle Pack: Two 91st Recon Troopers (Anaxes Arc), One 212th Clone Trooper, One 501st Jet Trooper. Falcon Crew Battle Pack: General Airen Cracken, Lieutenant Blount, Nien Nunb, Lando Calrissian (without cape). Endor Stormtroopers Battle Pack: Lieutenant Renz, Two Stormtroopers, One Biker Scout. Some also mentioned the incredibly unlikely idea of Lego producing City-style "people packs" for Star Wars, and for the heck of it, I'll indulge in it (characters only). 10 Minifigures per pack: Mos Eisley Denizens: Snaggletooth, Momaw Nadon, 2 Bith Musicians, Wuher, Sandtrooper Squad Leader, Two Sandtroopers, Two Jawas. Petranaki Arena Combatants: Joclad Danva, Nicanas Tassu, Sarrissa Jeng, Bultar Swan, Roth-Del Masona, Plo Koon, Coleman Kcaj, Geonosian Drone, Two Geonosian Warriors. Scramble on Yavin IV: General Jan Dodonna, Princess Leia, Garven Dreis, Biggs Darklighter, John D Branon, Jek Porkins, Puck Naeco, Luke Skywalker, Davish Krail, Rebel Fleet Trooper. Defense of Point Rain: Obi-Wan Kenobi (dusty, with scars), Commander Cody, Waxer, Boil, Four Desert ARF Troopers, Two Desert Clone Gunners Rally on Naboo: Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padme Amidala, Boss Nass, Captain Panaka, Captain Tarpals, Two Gungan Warriors, Two Naboo Royal Guards. Rebel Strike Force: Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker (Helmet and Poncho), Five Rebel Commandos (3 in Trenchcoats (1 clean-shaven, 1 bearded, 1 black w/mustache), 2 in Pathfinder Jackets), Commander Rex, Chewbacca. This was of course just for fun, there's no way Lego'll do people packs for Star Wars, but I'd buy pretty much all of the ones I mentioned. I have more ideas for these, but there are a lot less unique figures per-locale. Maybe an Ewok pack, and a Battle Droid pack. What the heck... Army of the CIS: Commando Droid Captain, Three Commando Droids, Two Super Battle Droids, Four Battle Droids. 2 Droidekas, 1 Tri-Droid, 2 Crab Droids.

I still feel the actress is paler than what Lego realized, but looking at different photos, it could just be the lighting. Then again, the Hasbro figures look pretty pale too, so idk.

I suppose that's true. I personally don't mind the new Stormtrooper helmet either, and there are been plenty of good minifigures still being released. I suppose my question would be better directed at the specific setting: Hoth. While other figures are getting better and better in design, the Hoth figures have just digressed imo. I would love more Hoth Rebels like the ones in Assault on Hoth, for example, but I feel that Lego will more likely try to pass off the Action Battle ones in future sets. Even though I did like the tan design from 2010-2013, the white and grey design is just so much better. The Snowtroopers are odd, since maybe a backpack and kama will make them pretty good. But the pilots are where I get confused. Yavin Pilots (and by extension, Rebel Pilots in general), have sleeker uniforms, black gloves, smaller collar, the "bullets" on the legs. Hoth Pilots have larger white pads, a puffier collar, white gloves, and no bullet straps. But Luke and Dak in the 20th Snowspeeder, and Wedge in the 4+ Snowspeeder all have Yavin/Endor/etc uniforms, and not Hoth. My last issue is a broader one, while most helmeted troopers are now Angry Clones, all Rebel Pilots are now Dak Ralters. I wouldn't mind it as much if they mixed it up with the Theron Nett head from 2014, giving us both where possible, but other than the lone female variant, most Pilots are the same guy. It kinda sucks honestly. It wouldn't bother me such much if Lego didn't already have the perfect Hoth figures to use. Heck, the UCS Snowspeeder gave us two excellent Hoth Pilots, and they were distinct from Dutch Vander in the UCS Y-Wing. -

To be fair though, most people (myself included) are just taking that as a hint to the Duel on Exegol being in the next wave. Other guesses are just to really break up the monotony, but I can see how it can get annoying. If we're wrong, we'll see. -

I went back and looked, and his words were "the list I'm referencing covered the april wave too", in his second or so post on the matter. It wasn't in his first reply though, so you're correct on that front. Which, admittedly diminishes my B-Wing theory, but opens the possibility of a Mandalorian fighter. The Duel's more likely, but no direct confirmation of anything yet. -

And on that note, @jdubbs did mention April specifically, leading everyone to my Duel on Exegol prediction. The Tri-Fighter was more of a goof than a real guess, and I'd rather get Anakin in the AAT, though @jdubbs hint that there'd be many repeats led me to the interceptor conclusion. It would make sense for a $30 set after all. Edit: On a hunch I was looking through my lists and went up to my 2021 ideal wave, and stopped at my spring predictions. As a wild guess, I mentioned a TIE Bomber (nope), a Cloud Car (super nope), and a B-Wing . Now, I was wishlisting a Rebel B-Wing for ROTJ, but a Resistance B-Wing would complete the set we already have. And it would definitely fit the price point of $70... -
I think it's a decent representation of Giancarlo's face and skin tone. Reddish Brown would be too dark, I think. Medium Nougat is a good alternative. I mean, it's no worse than what Lego did to Gina Carano...

This is more of a rant than a question but, Over the years, Lego has been getting more and more accurate when it comes to Star Wars minifigures. Whether it's the color palate, molds, or even printing updates, figures were getting pretty impressive. The peak to me was in the age of 2014-2016, when we got the new OT Stormtrooper, the new Snowtroopers, Rebel Commandos, and Hoth Rebel Troopers. We even got distinct jumpsuits for X-Wing and Snowspeeder Pilots. Then came 2019. We got an excellent update to the Scout Trooper, which was long overdo, but they reverted the Hoth Rebels back to their dark tan phase, and now Hoth Pilots were given Yavin jumpsuits. The came the Stormtrooper mold, which, love it or hate it, was unnecessary. My question is, why does Lego not pay as much attention to detail as they once did? Theron Nett's head (from 2014) would've made a perfect Wedge face (as he's generally serious/cautious), but they give us the overused Dak face on pretty much every pilot that's not Luke. Personality isn't even a factor (for instance, Janson I didn't mind, as he's a goofy character). Will Lego return to it's detailed approached? Or will we continue to get lazy design choices? This mostly applies to the OT figures, and mainly troops, but even Boba Fett's just an Angry Clone now instead of the Suave Clone we got in his UCS Slave I. Have you guys noticed this as well? If so, what are your thoughts? -
I'd replace Wedge, Porkins, and Dutch for Red Leader (Garven Dreis), Red 4 (John D Branon), and Gold 5 (Davish Krail). That way we're closer to finishing off the Squadrons. Biggs I'm keeping since they screwed up his helmet (such a waste of a mold), and a mustachio'd head with the pilot visor would be sweet Also, we just got a banger Dutch in the UCS Y-Wing, Porkins is a bit outdated, for sure, but we do have him, and Wedge is technically in the 4+ Snowspeeder (in what's clearly an X-Wing Jumpsuit).

Just to clarify, I'm saying that 75285 (Which will probably be around $60+), or even 75291 (Which despite it's high number, will probably be between Soulless One and AT-AT in price), could be a V-19/Headhunter remake. Until we get prices for those, I'm speculating higher prices and thus bigger ships. I probably just bunched the point up. -

I'm glad that the AAT's confirmed for a $40 price point, which means about 4-5 minifigs (2 being Battle Droids, of course). I'm glad that 2 more sets have popped up, and 75291, being a retailer exclusive, might be somewhere in price between the Night Buzzard and Soulless One, since there's no way they'll out-price the AT-AT. As for the $30 sets, and 75285, here's hoping for a V-19/Z-95 remake (75285), and some mandalore sets ($30). And the Mandalorian and Child brickheads look sweet! I've only ever gotten the Captain America one, so I may hunt this down. -

You weren't one making big promises, though some made this wave seem more PT-focused than it is, which is mostly why I'm so disappointed. I am happy about the AAT, AT-AT, Soulless One, etc. Expectations always run too high as a devoted fan, and I understand everyone's position. I also didn't mean to come off as combative. I accept Lego's choices, but I also reserve the right to dislike them. Remember too that I'm not entirely against the choice, I just don't see the appeal over something of equal value. People differ in opinion. In the end, it's just toys. As long as we at least get some cool figures and sets, that's all we really care about. Apologies for starting such a grand debate. I'm pretty happy with my 2014 Snowspeeder to be honest. I just need the AT-AT. -
