42144 - Material Handler
Richombx replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is a total of 57 system pieces in 42053 and that’s including 2x2 round plates and modified 2x2 with pin, steering wheel and lights so that’s not a lot of system. Also it’s all very small parts so it’s not a great deal of the kits structure so the amount of pieces less will 100% affect the build -

Um you seem to be the only one that’s decided this is certain. If anything most of the crane guys have said a jib is almost certainly to fragile for a kit. Just a main Powerboom would be the strongest option available to lego and use no more pieces than a boom and jib that will create so many issues -

You have actually looked at what configurations these cranes come in before you comment have you. Powerboom is one piece, no extra attachments. The other styles require there to be luffing jibs and other parts that would consume just as many if not more parts than the y frame of the powerboom. so you don’t think lego will design this to be played with lifting anything at all then? honestly don’t know where or how you come up with this as it’s 100% guaranteed to happen -

How do you figure the powerboom would consume any more pieces than the luffing jib configurations, they would be also far more fragile. All lego needs to do is have a picture in the opening manual pages with the built crane and a kg rate on the hook so that argument is removed -

Yes that’s why 42042 only has a small boom so it stays strong enough for legos durability standards, same goes for 42009 which is a bit short but bends if made a section longer with the standard construction. I can’t see any kind of fly/luffing jib been stable enough to satisfy legos design criteria for form/function and durability for play -

That’s what I mean. I’m still tipping for a basic powerboom which is sturdy and also fits the reported low 1.5m height -

Can’t see it. Way too fragile to be sold as a official set -

I guess I’ll see if I can fit in the small ram. Will have to wait and see -

42053 was licensed, has pneumatics with the ability to have power functions added and had a excellent B model so I’d say that it’s got this new kit covered. I have the grab claws to convert mine to a scalp handler but haven’t sat down and done it so I’m just hoping how ever it’s done on the new one I can pretty much steal it😂 -

There’s moc’s I like but refuse to pay $300 for a buwizz Let alone ones that require more than one so I’m not keen of single components that drive prices way up. I spent probably $1400 on my efferman mod 42100 and I’ve got a slightly modified 42131 which I think really is a outstanding kit and decent value with its looks, functionality and build experience but I can’t see myself paying $1000 for a 2900 piece crane. -

There is always the possibility this set might come with the 6 port hub and rechargeable battery that costs $400aud. The powerboom would be the least fragile for lego to replicate as I still can’t see lego replicating a boom that will surely lead to complaints. -

42131 gave us 6x functions with one hub when everyone had assumed we would get 2, 42042 only has 1x motor to achieve its functions. I don’t think lego will give us some ultra fiddley and fragile boom/luffing jib as we need to remember lego has standards and these will need to be met. I’m expecting a gearbox as that is what most people seem to say they want and it would fit well with what’s needed. The only reason 42100 uses motors for all functions is that is how a hydraulic excavator works, it’s just a power pack and big pumps, this has the talk of what will they do if the next super car was electric and has no engine or gearbox to replicate. I’m all for wishing and wanting but lego has limitations and can’t do what some moc builder can. -

I’m pretty sure promobricks originally said 42131 was 2x hubs and 7x motors. That didn’t happen. I’m all for speculation but people forming opinions on sets at this point have no real base and it’s pointless. No way I’ll be paying $1000 aud for a sub 3000 piece kit that’s just crazy. Personally I’d say it will be 1x hub and work just like the D11 with 4x motors so the price is way too high. -

You guessed nothing, agreeing with a rumor from another site means you just followed someone else’s opinion. We also can’t count on any of the current information as correct so people’s imaginations shouldn’t be running away with a kit that doesn’t exist yet -

I don’t know how you come to this conclusion. The new tyres on the 42130 can be used every year on a new ucs bike kit been either a licensed race or street bike. A new large loader tyre might only fit into the lineup every 3-5 years and by far warrants less of a investment. -

If people need/want simple don’t buy a C+ set then moan on a C+ kit thread about it. It is what it is. 42131 is a great build and along with 42100 it sets a new standard for playability and aesthetic finish for technic flagships. By the way people complain each release I wonder why they are here to start with
-
Well timed jump in but here’s a fact. Your age and inability to move with the times isn’t a defense here and MR negative nelly on C+ adds little to no benefits to a conversation at any time. This thread is about a C+ product that works just fine out of the box. That’s it, end of story. I get tired of seeing the same people on here and Facebook groups constantly whining about issues that aren’t really issues.
-
It’s a pity you’re so narrow minded and stuck in the past, pf controls are poor and the battery box is flawed in most models due to needing to be removed to access both sides. 42131 works just fine with C+ and if you add another set of LA’s to the ripper it’s easy to make it fully adjustable. Move on, the horse is dead

If you want a scale model maybe check out CCM or diecast masters range of CAT replicas. Every single technic licensed set has some compromises when it comes to scale looks. I’ve been around D11’s and I can’t see how people are complaining. Take a look at the Eric trax pr776 dozer if you want to see something that needs lots of extra work to be cleaned up to a acceptable level.

For a smart guy you forget it’s a licensed product and CAT would have had a large say in how this interface needs to be to satisfy them . The steering replicates how the break paddles work on the real thing and to be honest if it was to be even more realistic the F/R gear control should also be on the left side which would be even more complex.
