Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Polarlicht replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like the boat, Claas and the buggy, small sets remind me on older technic times with small vehicles with a few functions (not quite on the level 8459 , but still not bad) Crane looks cool, mini version of the 2013 one. But iam not a fan of: rally car. -Why does it have a Top Gear license? I see no need for it and it makes the price higher than it should be. -Looks kinda crude and unfinished, especially with those stickers. -And again, no additional RC control, just the App which we don't know if it gets supported long term. Stunt bike and pickup -looks unfinished -does not really belong into technic Pullbacks: Dont't look bad but i hate pullbacks -
Yeah, i tried a 3 truck version but it looked quite long and not right, so i stick with 2 truck 2 cylinder. Maybe try 8 studs wide, and maybe try the rare 2 cylinder 3 trucks version...

[MOC] Generic American Diesel Electric Locomotive
Polarlicht replied to Polarlicht's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The switch part itself has a little black switch in front. So it does not matter in which direction you turn the orange switch, since you can turn direction with the black one! But there is also a version of that part with no black small switch! with bb0339c01 and without bb0339c02 I did the same thing with the Maersk set as well, both locos together and you can haul tons of rolling stock with it, as long as the locos are heavy and have some weight on the wheels. And if you want even more traction, remove the bands from the wheels and try white rubber bands ;) -
Over 4 years ago i builded this one, slightly based on the Maersk set. Its got a rechargeable battery, infrared sensor, 2 motors and a switch so one motor won't turn backwards. Cab technique, i actually forgot over the years that these bricks have a 2l cheese inside them :D This assembly is only attached with that lamp holder.

I decided that i show my Shay Class A locomotive here because why not :) The original design in legoform was i think from Stephan Pakbaz. I builded it about 4 1/2 years ago and it works fine and reliable since then. Its got a rechargeable battery, infrared sensor, 2 old lights and a small motor. It ruined a couple of u-joints but thats TLGs fault for not making them strong enough It has one custom part for the crankshaft to angle the middle bit 90°, and the wheels have a custom painted silver ring. Sorry about those watermarks

Yeah i used an extra 1/2 bushing from spare parts, but you don't even need to, just take one from the red 2l axle ;) -

So this is how you correctly aply those gear stickers, right? It must be, i played around a bit and in Lo 1st the engine moves the fastest (and clunkiest) -

Copy that. But would it be possible for the Hi Lo to switch the red and tan with the blue and grey gear? -

I think the easiest mod is to make a 4 cylinder version! Just leave the first and last piston out -

Hmm, In the video the steering angle looks bigger than before on other 4wd vehicles.... But its good to have the "90" 3 door version with the shorter wheelbase for better turning radius.
