You know, it feels like trying to pull off an Ocean's 11 heist each year figuring out which sets to get when to maximize Double VIP and GWP's without running out of the sets you want.
-
Yeah, and considering I have Santa's Workshop and several advent calendars... I don't need another Santa... This is a great idea.
-
You have early access by being VIP. I presume when you log into the website, it will know you are a VIP, and allow you to order it. Why anyone chooses not to be a VIP is beyond me, it's free and only good things happen.

The Toy Store kind of already has that. I'm not saying it should not be redone at some point, but it woulld be part of a another bigger build. I think that would go well with a town hall building.
-
Can we just talk about how, between this set, the sleigh, and the advent we have 3 santa's 100 percent confirmed, and it sounds like the GWP's will both have Santa's.... 5 new Santa's.... We can recreate that scene from Jingle all the Way....
-
I disagree about having the sleigh with the set. That would have made the sleigh much smaller, with maybe 2 reindeer. Also, this way, we can buy 2 sleighs to get the full 8 reindeer, not a bunch of WV sets to get more reindeer.

Blame the HOA!

Same on the Christmas Wreath for sure. Also, I think it's described as a "Winter Cottage" but it will be a new model. Villages need homes for people, And think about it, The Elves have one home, the Gingerbread have one home, and the lego people have one home..but there are like so many more lego people... AFFORDABLE LEGO HOUSING NOW!!!! Great job! I am impressed.

Huh, Well, I am all for Santa Claus, but between the the advent calendar and the sleigh, that is two Santa's Since they are name checking Santa in both those GWP's, I wonder if we are getting 2 more Santas? That seems crazy.
-
So my theory about the sleigh is that the have the reindeer molds, why not use them It's fits with the idea of Santa's visit. And the great thing is, you can pretend its the local town Santa and treat his sled like a picture op in the town square, or him be be daddy dressed up, or the legit Santa. But, if it is called Santa's visit, there will be a Santa. I don't think it well be a re release of the old cottage, it will be a new ground up design, which will be nice, cause it's been weird having a village with only two houses, one being the old season 3 in 1 set, which works really well in the village..

Hmmm purely guessing, but if this is the set, I predict it will have the cottage, with Santa's sleigh with..2 reindeer, that is designed to land on the roof, and a chimney that Santa got do down. Just guessing. Santa, 1 Elf, one adult, preferably in a nightgown and a cap ready to settle for a long winters nap, and 2 kids. The cottage will have have an internal Christmas tree. There is my guess, based on that tidbit of info, that may or may not be true....
-
Right. Like I remember getting a snapshots of random out of context parts of the set, so we could fill our forum with idle speculation.

I was just looking through the posts from last year, and it amazes me that we at least had a title for the set by July 30th of 2020, and this year.... nothing. We gotta be getting close to the official announcement... I know it won't happen anytime soon, if ever, but a Christmas Trolley to run down the center of a town would be a fun way to add some kinetic energy to the set.
-
I think there will be a time where it makes sense to do, if not re-releases, new versions of older sets. So to redo the bakery and post office from scratch. I mean, they are not going to never do another Christmas train, it may not get done for another 10 years, but people dig Christmas trains...

I think they would be smart to do a stand alone sled set with 4 reindeer, a good sled, maybe better then the one with the workshop, Santa and like 1 Elf, as a stand alone set, not Winter Village, but something that could double as a small display for home, or a WV set. I think some people would get the set as a stand alone, even for their non Christmas city to throw in at Christmas time flying above the city. Some of us would get two sets to make the classic 8 person reindeer. Throw in a GWP with a Rudolph in a small stable with one elf for synergy, and I think you have a great set. Fairly inexpensive to get one set, and a good reason for some fans to buy multiple sets. 40$ maybe? Throw in a display stand and call it 44.99. I'm just rambling though.... who knows.

I think a meet Santa set could go well with a town hall, with a mayor, maybe a friendly looking 1940's cop, santa and elves that are either real in costume, you decide.... and because we already have it, a reindeer.. few kids and a few adults... Boom!

I too enjoy the fantasy sets. That said, I think many people think "Winter Village" and they think of those fancy diorama's put out with realistic looking buildings and figurines, where the focus is building up an actual romanticized version of a village at Christmas time, and since Lego only brings out one set a year, each fantasy set slows down the growth of the "real" village. That said, I expect the fantasy sets have sold just fine, and maybe even to a broader base then just the winter village collections, thus why they have done 3 fantasy sets in the last 7 years... If you include the fact they did remake of the toy store one of those years, it means the train sets and the fire engine are the only new "real" village sets in the last 7 years. Anyhow, thats just my 2 cents.... I love it all.... Robert

I don't know if this is the year they will do that, I think they will go with a village building this time, but that said, i tend to agree with you that they do need to redo santa's sleigh with molded reindeer, and a flight school/stable would be the perfect set for it. Also, MORE ELVES!
-
Think a town hall with a trolley side build that is lego track compatible would be fun. A Santa visiting kids diorama might make up part of a bigger set as well. I loved the Fantasy stuff, but it is definitely time for a set for the actual village. I would only be for a police station if it was made to look like a Victorian era building and the cops were all dressed like English Bobby's... You know, a residential house with a front yard filled with Christmas decorations would be fun... and very true to my experience of driving around and looking at houses around Christmas. Anyhow, I await the release with baited breath.

So I ordered the Elf House on 10/19, and today, 10/21 it is on backorder. Mine shipped today. I also ordered the Frankenstein and the Halloween Hayride for.. Halloween. That got me x2 pts on those three orders, plus the mindstorm set (gift for random kid person in life) and free Lego wrapping paper. But, of course, that leads to the problem, as some of you have mentioned, of the holiday GWP...The wreath and the other Holiday sets come up to about 68 dollars.... Assuming the threshold is 99 or 100.... I need to figure out what else to add. And have we gotten a hint about a 2nd GWP in Dec?

I know Star Wars is different...but they do re-releases... updated to be a little better or different all the time. In 20 years they have had 6 mini figure scale Falcons and 2 UCS Falcons... If they brought out a new post office..maybe do a different vehicle, different mini-figs and use new building techniques... I think alot of people would get it who had the original, and EVERYONE who didn't would (that collect WV). The problem with the other re release is it was 98 percent the same...
-
Now that they have actual reindeer I would love for them to do Santa's Sled with all 8 (or 9) Reindeer. Not as a WV set, just as a holiday set in general.... Heck, I'd even be OK with a four reindeer set, would just have to buy two of them.... But anyhow, Glad to add some to Santa's Northpole, can't wait to set up the village this year!
-
Well, for collectors sure, but you have to remember Lego is also targeting 9 year olds who might think its cool to buy a Christmas Tree with their allowance, or parents who don't collect winter village sets but think this will be a good stocking stuffer, or people just starting a brand new Winter Village.

Thanks for sharing that video conspiracy, it's very well done! is that yours?

I enjoy the fantasy part of Christmas a lot and loves the Gingerbread house. I will be pleased as punch if they release an Elfin "Clubhouse", but I am wary, I feel like releasing two fantasy sets in a row seems risky..but then again, maybe that Santa's workshop sold very well and they are trying to build on that. Cheers
