  1. The rumor I heard, for what it is worth, is that it is two buildings. But until we see pics, who knows. I feel like the high piece count is more readily explained if you have two buildings as well.
  2. The nice thing about the trolley/ tram is that it can just run up and down a street and make total sense, where as the train is more like something that circles a layout. And the idea of adding more kinetic energy to a set up is always welcome.
  3. Trams, also known as trolleys, are not uncommon in small towns, especially touristy ones. I have been thinking of adding a trolley to my village for years, and so if this one looks right, I will be excited. Especially if its compatible with current lego track.
  4. Perhaps. I prefer to remain optimistic, but if I am wrong, so be it,
  5. Ha, I didn't pick up the Hogsmeade set until this year, so its sitting here next to me awaiting assembly, just to add to my WV. And I agree, 100$ U.S. seems about right for two buildings and a tram, as the Hogsmeade was 80$. I don't think there is going to be a price hike this year, that information would have been known by now. When they release the set, they want you focused on the set, not the price, so they would have announced the price change early. But next year.. I am expecting 120$ for the same sized sets, or smaller sets.
  6. You are correct. We are talking about the rumor like its a done deal, but we want to talk about it because we love it so much. I mean, I collect Star Wars and Minecraft sets and this is the only thread I read and post on.
  7. The difference is they bring out a dozen or more star wars sets every year, and the X wing is almost always in production. At almost any time in the last 22 years of lego Star Wars you could buy at least 1, sometimes 2, X Wings. There have been 5 or 6 non UCS Falcons, you can almost always buy one. But Winter Village is 1 set a year, and maybe a decent ancillary set like the sled, and its out for two Seasons, and gone. So each set really needs to fill a different niche in the village. Yes, there will be some exceptions as time goes on, I think there will be another Christmas train set at some point.
  8. While I think it was odd that they did the house in the same color, I think a village should have more then one home in it, with the addition of the older seasonal 3 in 1 set that came with a home set in the winter, this gives my village three homes, which I think gives a good representation of a small neighborhood. But a village with multiple toy stores is less needed. If this rumor is true though, I think they feel like a toy store is an important part of Christmas, and they want newer WV collectors to have on, but they don't want to devote a full set to it due to already having done that...thus throw in a new shop, the music store. And if it is a new toy store, well, I guess my village head canon will include a rivalry between the store owners!
  9. Well... Hmmmmm. The toy store is an interesting choice, assuming this is all true. The Hogsmeade set this last year came with two building for 80, so two buildings and a tram for 100 seems totally possible. A Music store and a Tram, especially if it looks like a trolley, would be amazing... and a toy store is a good addition for people coming late to the party. IF it does have a tram/trolley, i hope its compatible with the lego track.... and is able to be modified with an engine.
  10. I would appreciate a teaser campaign to build excitement for the set. The current strategy of keeping it secret into a few weeks before the release, when it's likely in most of the stores anyhow so they can't continue to keep it a secret, is annoying. I have been trying to figure out why. The only thing I can figure is it stop knock-offs from getting a version out by Christmas.
  11. I think the 2nd one sold better, especially since it had the context of the Winter village to live in. Also, they brought out the train station. I know some WV folks skipped it, but I think that was made up with the train people picking it up.
  12. I too would prefer a new shop, but the fact that we got a gazebo back in 2011 for a set that cost 400 to 600 dollars to get now, I would be all for getting a new one. Also, a full size skate rink would explain the high piece count, it were made up of those 2 x1 clear blue pieces. But yes, I agree, we need a new shop.
  13. Well, I think realistically we can hope to get at least a set name for the WV next week. Tomorrow will be 1 month out. I wonder how early the lego network folks get the sets to review.
  14. Only if they bring out the Winter Village Airstrip!
  15. Hopefully, because it may be the greatest non Winter Village set that goes in the Winter Village. Even if you don't want to collect the "fantasy" buildings, who wouldn't want Santa and his sleigh flying around.
  16. I've never used Bricklink, I will check it out. Thanks
  17. I think they will.... I am kind of annoyed that they apparently only brought out Santa's sleigh for one season. I want more reindeer!
  18. As you are aware, they just brought out a residential house last year that you can still buy. I don't believe there is any chance of them doing two blue houses in a row. I also think the only way they start doing remakes of previous sets is if its 20 years from now, or they start doing two WV a year, the current line, and a "Classics" line.
  19. That would be awful, because you can't run the new Hogwart's Express on Lego Track. I would only buy it if I could run it.
  20. I fear it may be that they can't come to a licensing agreement.
  21. So, for me the WV train set was what got me into collecting the Winter Village. I has wanted a winter village, i love Lego and I love trains. So when that set came out I bought it, and the previous sets I could find that were reasonable and over time I have gotten all the WV sets except the post office. My point is that I think WV benefits greatly from having a train, it creates kinetic energy, give's people something to look at, and trains are associated with Christmas. So while I know some WV fans were not happy with a train and train station taking up two slots, they will need to bring out another train set at some point. And a great way to do that is to do a Polar Express, and market it as a regular set, so it does not take up the WV spot. It would be a great set for the WV, and it would be a great set for the train collectors, who want another proper steam engine, especially since the new Hogwarts Express is not compatible with lego track. Ideally the set would come with the engine, motorized, track and the END passenger car. Then you sell the middle passenger cars separately, allowing people to run the train with as many passenger cars as they can manage. I realize I have veered off into blue sky thinking, but a Lego Polar Express seems so obvious to me.
  22. I was thinking that made more sense then a full police station in a tiny village. And they need to be in old time uniforms or like an English Bobby to kind of take the edge off of the fact that nowadays police equals guns. That's fine in the city, but the Winter Village the cops should be more like Mayberry cops.
  23. I still think it's been far to long since they did a shop of some sort. Candy Store, Book Shop, Winter Gear Shop. Hopefully it will come with a vehicle, a delivery van would be cool.
  24. There is some precedence for snowmen with legs.
