Of course Brother, forgive me! Lego Cult Member #959620 here, Is anyone else who ordered the Main Street set within a few hours of it going on the website still have their order sitting in the warehouse? Since that is (checks notes) one of the harbingers of the end of the world, I was just curious. All Hail Emmet from whom all Lego flows.

I just looked through the Monster Fighter sets, and they really are not a Halloween Village theme. There are no shops, trick or treaters, and such. There is a haunted house, but it was 180 dollars... Nothing that really matches up with what you see if you google Halloween Village collections put out by other companies. These were meant as toys primarily, where as I think the WV line is part diorama, part play set.

I mean, I really like it as a decoration for the house. So I am for sure wanting it for that.

As a loyal Lego Cult Member (LCM) I will be buying the tree, but I am either going to do the 2 tree model and include it in the village, or do the full tree and use it as a table decoration. As for the Halloween Village, YES. I think that is a great idea, and one I fully support.

Peeking out to see if I can speak without being accused of being a Lego Cult Member (All HAIL EMMET). I have Hogsmeade and ordered the Main Street, so I intend to maybe get just those two sets together over fall break and see how they look, Emmett's will be done. Depends how quick they can shove the set out of the warehouse (With Emmet's Grace)

Well, I did not say its a huge deal, I indicated I am bummed, because as a lego train fan, the idea of motorized the trolley and putting it in my layout is very exciting for me. I have already used software that allows one to lay lego track to find out the optimum place to set the trolley layout and how to integrate it into my village. I appreciate that it is not a big deal to you, but sadly, your post did not make me less disappointed, as I am sure it was intended to do.

What a bummer. At this time the Lego website is out of the train engine and the headlights for the trolley. I am hoping they are going to spring them on us Oct 3rd, but at this time they have put out a trolley they want you to motorize, but one can't buy the necessary parts.

I can change that, sorry, did not mean to offend. I will rewrite it to be more about me then about others, which I think was my error. Once more, please accept my apology.

Well, having seen the reviews, I am just as stoked as I was before. This is a step more to a small town main street, but so was the Fire Station. As for the fact that some people think the builds will not be interesting.... Speaking for myself as a more casual lego fan, I don't really worry to much about the building techniques. At the end of the day I will have a nice little downtown area with a motorized trolley delivering shoppers. A trolley was at the top of my wishlist. And for those of you who want to keep it more quaint, attach a horse to the front of your trolley,

I am looking at the pics Keba put up, and I kind of wish the building had no edges on the left and right, that the "floor" was flush with the building. The reason being, I google Main Streets, and High Streets, and the buildings are wall to wall. I understand some people don't like the aesthetic, but small towns in Europe and the U.S. both have this in common, and I think it would be nice to mimic that.

I'm as pleased as punch, and for 100$ dollars... I don't mind the lack of a light brick. They are fine as a play feature, but in terms of display, you have to figure out a way to make sure it stays on, and have batteries lying around. As for the trolley with track, there are many videos out there that show how to incorporate track with the new road plate system. The one think I would did different is use white tiles instead of gray to fill he space between the track. But it will require a little experimentation... looking forward to it. I think I will get the off brand R24 (lego brand are R40) curves to create a tight loop for the trolley so it can run up and down main street without taking up to much space, especially since my Winter Village train will run on a different track. I agree the buildings are shallow, but in terms of display where you set the set up to be looked out from one angle, they are fine. I think they sent with two smaller buildings to give the impression of more of a street area, with several shops on it.
-
I mentioned that 100 dollars made sense because the Harry Potter set was two buildings for 80, and so 100 for two buildings and a tram made sense to me. If that is where you got the impression it was 80, I apologize. I am a little surprised it is 130, but it was going t go up along with many other sets, I was hoping 120. That said, If I were to buy one lego set a year, it would be the WV set, so I'll take the hit.
-
Hmmm The set that got me into WV was the train. So it's number one. 1st place- train 3rd Place, Firehouse--- it's fine. 2nd Place.. Everything else is tied for 2nd.

Our friend on here who has a video about the topic, that video is still up.

I feel like villages are very European, the U.S. doesn't really have villages. But I would argue, in head canon, that the Winter Village is the name of this small town. At this point the "village" has 2 or 3 toy stores, a music store, a bakery, a post office, a train line with its own station, a decent sized fire fighting crew AND a trolley, and if you throw in the Hogsmeade sets, which is almost a no brainer unless you are a purist, a Candy Shoppe and tavern. This is a small town. And if you look at Disneyland Main street, it really fits into that kind of motif. So, at this point I feel like the WV line has three distinct parts, the town, the outside of town (with the cottage and natural looking elements, and Santa's Village. I feel like the Winter Village is more of a tourist trap, the train bringing in the punters. Anyhow, I do find how this set seems all over the place in the general consensus, from Skip, to OK to BEST SET EVER! I for one am pleased though, which I think I have mentioned. Cheers!

I can't figure out if your quote about the bluecoats is funny, tragic, or both.

Well, while I understand it does not have the Alpine look so were looking for, it does have a small town look. These building could be on the main street of any midwestern small town in the U.S. And I think the fit well with the architecture of the train station and fire department. I can look at this, and the fire station, being the center of town, and the more alpine buildings can be further out... but really, for me, the star of the show is the trolley. I have wanted one for years, it was the top of my want list, and I can't wait to add a trolley line into my layout. Thinking I will pick up R24 track to make the footprint as small as possible....
-
Oh yea, I was not aware of the acronym, cool.
-
What is this BAM you speak of?
-
Which is the same route they did with the train set, which I think i ideal, because that way people are not paying for an expensive part they don't need, but those of us who want it don't have buy a bunch of extra stuff to make it work.
-
If the tram is indeed L Gauge, looks like a old fashioned trolley, and can have a motor added easily, this will exactly what I have wanted. Time to think about how to add the tram line into the village.....
-
Yeah, Ideally it would be L gauge. Even better if it can be easily motorized like the WV train was. As for the Hogwarts.... I was really hoping it would be more like the Disney Train, motorized, two passenger cars, and a full station. As it is, there is not reason for us L gauge folks to buy it.

The Fry's (AKA Kroger, big grocery store in the U.S.) and they have a tiny toy section, but they had CFM 23. So I sat there for 10 minutes and got three sets, the turkey, the nutcracker, and the elf. I love the elf and nutcracker. I'd like to get 5 more nutcrackers, and make a little row of them with their swords as an honor guard for Santa.

The two stores in Hogsmeade are a decent size for a store, and that set was 80 dollars. It only had 850 pieces, but they used lots of big pieces, it's an 8 plus set, where as the WV will be creator or whatever level.
