  1. I think what is in the mail is 5x the bottom middle section, 2 of the end bottom bow pieces, and 2 of the ribbed bow pieces. It looks like that's pretty much what you used, except you only used the ribbed bow piece on the front (not on the back)?
  2. Looking good! I have some of those white hulls coming tomorrow and will use this as a reference
  3. Looks great! I love the method of using hands to make the flintlocks rest on their shoulders. I was also wondering how to make that work - will try your method!
  4. Recently stationed in the north of Corrington, Captain Brickleton receives orders to gather his company of infantry and light cavalry and to head south to the port at Belson. With the season changing and the cold winds beginning to blow, he is most ready to head south. While he had distinguished himself as a tactician and leader in past engagements, indiscretions with a general's daughter have stunted his career prospects. He looks on his new orders as a chance to get back in his superiors' good graces. He suspects upon reaching Belson he will learn that he is being sent to the Sea of Thieves to support Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock. Time will tell. He also looks forward to seeing his father, a retired general, when he returns to Belson. Captain Brickleton has his men break camp and form up to begin the long march south. 5. Thanks - will post free small property soon. Any tips on Corrington new world locations with nearby forts that would be a good place for me to build a small residence?
  6. Thanks all for the warm welcome. I'd love some tips on how to get started... not sure what's next :P Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
  7. Thanks! Thanks! You had to know I'd choose the redcoats :D Thanks! Yeah the redcoats head to the Caribbean from somewhere up north :P
  8. I'm writing to introduce you to Captain Brickleton. Currently stationed in the north of Corrington, he recently received orders to gather his company of infantry and light cavalry and to head south to the port at Belson. With the season changing and the cold winds beginning to blow, he is most ready to head south. While he had distinguished himself as a tactician and leader in past engagements, indiscretions with a general's daughter have stunted his career prospects. 9. Redcoat officer. Hat from Hector Barbossa, wig from Revolutionary Soldier, arms from Toy Soldier, torso from Imperial Admiral, legs from Sushi Chef
  10. Still seems very stable, though time will tell if it stretched out or not. It stays put (doesn't immediately detach or move around). Seems plenty sturdy (plastic is thick).
  11. Interchangeable Hat Wig. Got the idea from Captain Becker. He glued his together - I left mine separate so I can reuse it for different color combos. Wanton destruction aside, I think the prototype turned out pretty well. 1 down, 10 to go! UPDATE: Added some pics of Imperials
  12. Updated to include blue donald duck arms w/ goal cuffs. I didn't have much luck finding other colors with cuffs (brown, gray, etc). There are some white arms with gray cuffs: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=981982pb147&idColor=1#T=S&C=1&O={"color":1,"iconly":0}
  13. Didn't want to post about this until I had my supply chain intact, but now orders are placed and arms are in the mail :D Have any of you experimented with adding arms with cuff decoration to denote officer rank on imperials? I ordered some of each of these and will post pics when they arrive. For redcoats, toy soldier arms (gold bands) and captain hook arms (white): https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=981982pb017&idColor=5#T=S&C=5&O={"color":5,"iconly":0} https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=981982pb083&idColor=5#T=S&C=5&O={"color":5,"iconly":0} For dark blue redcoat navy, dark blue arms from ship captain: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=981982pb015&idColor=63#T=S&C=63&O={"color":63,"iconly":0} For bluecoats, blue arms from bespin guard (brown) and donald duck (yellow): https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=981982pb002&idColor=7#T=S&C=7&O={"color":7,"iconly":0} https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=981982pb079&idColor=7#T=S&C=7&O={"color":7,"iconly":0} In general, I think the bespin guard might work well as a cavalry fig (with a different hat and epaulette): https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=sw0150#T=S&O={"iconly":0} For greencoats, dark green arms from hoodie guy: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=981982pb153&idColor=80#T=S&C=80&O={"color":80,"iconly":0}
  14. Hats are BrickWarriors and bayonets are BrickForge
  15. Thanks! I was trying something new with this cannon flame - I gave it a red tail! You can see up close there is a trans red rod in a clear round brick coming out of the smoke
  16. Thanks! All of my normal tan plates and normal white bricks are set aside for a big Imperial Fort I'm making, so it was fun to use the remaining dark tan / yellow plates for something
  17. As reported by an eyewitness, the bluecoats in the beach bulwark were unhurriedly taking potshots at the redcoat frigate that was slightly out of range. They simply didn’t have time to react when the redcoat lieutenant and marines rushed in from down the beach. When all was said and done, the redcoats made sure to knock over the bluecoats' stack of cannon balls.
  18. Thanks - Yeah, was just looking for tips on other heads w/ big sideburns or bushy mustaches. I think the samurai suggestion is a good one. I'm not a fan of the non-yellow heads, so I end up giving all of the tan/brown ones I get to my kids :)
  19. Thanks! Any other heads out there that you know of that I should take a look at? I've got 4x or 5x of each of the ones pictured above, so i can spread them among the troopers as well as officers.
  20. Sideburns, Mustaches, and Muttonchops. To get a 1700s/1800s feel for my imperial minifigs, I like heads w/ sideburns, bushy mustaches, and muttonchops. Stubble is fine, but I'd rather they looked sharp. The soul patch head is goofy but acceptable. I like to save beards for my pirates. Are there other heads out there that you know of that I should take a look at? Given the choice, I like the ones with the white eye pupils.

    Boots?

    To boot or not to boot? Thoughts? Took some time for me to not immediately react with "Oh that just looks wrong" but it's growing on me
  22. Fun fact: iPhone charging cables fit right into LEGO minifig hands. My wife asked me to make her something to keep her phone cable from falling off her nightstand, so I made this tiny MOC with the Admiral's Daughter.
  23. Technic ball joints work well as cannon balls and you can stack them diagonally on a regular lego plate. Using jumper plates, you can align the balls with the grid. The spacing is slightly farther apart that wayand the balls don't stack quite as high that way, but it's in alignment with the grid.
