Yeah, but rendered artwork like this tends to play fast a loose with how things look in real life. Just look at the rest of the image. Kate Bishop is tilting her head slightly in a way that minifigures just can’t and similarly Moon Knight appears to be holding his right arm at an impossible angle for a Lego torso. And it’s not the low image quality playing tricks on the eye. Just look at a Disney 100 series checklist and you can clearly see Jiminy Cricket has one leg bent back despite coming with short legs that can’t actually move like that. That’s why I’m saying it’s not worth trying to make any observations on the leaked photos - yes, the head is clearly level with the minifig the owl comes with, and if the minifig is holding it that would mean it’s significantly shorter than previous owls, but it could just as easily be the box art artist cut and pasting a larger owl a little lower than it should be so it’s head isn’t significantly higher than any of the minifigs in the splash. We won’t know until we get better quality images, preferably on all the characters individually so the full body can be seen.

I mean, it’s definitely a new print, but between the horrible picture quality and the fact that only the head and chest is really visible it’s hard to confirm that it’s a new mold or not yet.

If that’s the case we could get a sneak preview very soon indeed given the rumors that Gringott’s will be revealed Tuesday. And if not, well, the Magical Menagerie and Eylop’s Owl Emporium are probably the two most desired Diagon Alley shops that don’t feature in the movies, so hopefully the designers are lurking on here and paying attention to that. The WWW set with the long desired Pygmy Puffs gives me hope.

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Don’t forget, in addition to goblins there are uniformed wizard guards in DH2, so that’s another set of characters that would use duplicate parts for multiple characters. -
So more detailed leaked descriptions of Marvel series 2 have dropped and it looks like there’s a decent number of animals for a licensed series. Namely: - Lucky the pizza dog - may or may not be a new mold. At bare minimum we’ll be seeing a new print on the current golden retriever piece. - A new owl - also from Hawkeye - apparently a brand new mold? Which is interesting because we already have perched and flying owls. - a 1x2 brick with printed goldfish (from Moon Knight) As a Harry Potter collector, the supposed new owl mold has got me very interested. Looking at the owl in question from the show, the only reason I can think of for a new mold is to finally do a small owl. More appropriate for saw-whet or screech owls compared to the snowy/great grey/eagle owls the current mold was designed for. I’m eager to see if this is legit, might have to bricklink the owl if it is (although if lego makes a new owl mold I expect the Harry Potter designers will find a way to sneak one into next year’s sets for us).

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

They’ve literally never done that for someone using polyjuice before though. I can’t see them doing it now when it would be called out as a decline in quality by literally everyone. Especially since, frankly, this also needs to be the first ‘Bellatrix Lestrange’ fig to use legs - riding out on the Ironbelly just won’t work with a skit piece. Frankly, I’d be less surprised if some of our ‘repeats’ are just duplicates of new figs introduced in the set (see the centaurs introduced in 2020), since I’m pretty sure that would be the same/cheaper for the budget as reusing an old fig. On an unrelated note, Brick Clicker’s video also claims that the Clint Barton from the upcoming Marvel cmf will be accompanied by a new owl mold. Given that we already have resting a flying owls, and looking at the actual scene in the show, this might indicate a new small owl that could be used for Pigwidgeon. Or whoever leaked the info to Brick Clicker just isn’t fully brushed up on the current lego menagerie. -

The thing is, ‘Bellatrix’ is actually a polyjuiced Hermione, and thus requires an alternate Hermione face and hair (and if lego has any sense printed legs because the skirt piece just won’t work for fitting in a mine cart and jumping on the back of a dragon). There’d only be a regular Bellatrix if they decided to heavily follow the theme park ride’s story, and I think that would be too confusing for a wider audience (it’s a different matter to theoretically include Bill, since we all know he works there). I expect one of the repeats will be Harry himself. He’s got a plaid button up layered between his grey hoodie and red t-shirt in this scene, but it’s close enough for lego to recycle the grey and red torso they’ve repeatedly used for Harry before - especially in a set that requires so many other new prints. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see something that mostly looks like a repeat for the CMF Griphook from series 2(although hopefully they throw us a bone and give us the advent calendar head). It’s been far longer than it was when they used the Sprout hair/head/torso from the same series in a regular set as well after all. And Dobby and Moody/Crouch have also shown up in sets nearly unchanged from their original cmf versions as well. As far as the third repeat goes, I’m expecting a slightly random choice to represent some hapless bank patron who’s chosen the worst time ever to make a withdrawal. Although the heroes do have a close call with a Death Eater there in the books, so a seedier customer like Scaboir, Greyback, Yaxley, or Borgin are also options. We also know that Stan Shunpike is kicking around working for Voldy under the imperius curse in the DH book. The other 10 minifigs being new is definitely exciting though. Sounds like we can look forward to the goblin hair being recolored at the very least. -

Finally managed to snag a Stitch from Joanns of all places after severs weeks of searching fruitlessly. And I was even more delighted when I realized the extra green spell pieces I got with the Battle of Hogwarts set last month are completely compatible with his plasma blaster accessories. Now my Experiment 626 is not only armed, but can also shoot people to his hearts content. -
Yes you’re right. My brain can just never remember if it’s moose that are called elk some places or the other way round.

I’m afraid we don’t have wild hedgehogs anywhere in North America - you have to go to Europe or Africa for them. Although we do get raccoons and moose while Europe misses out (not to mention mountain lions, but that would just be another big cat recolor). Another more uniquely North American forest animal would be the opossum, which is definitely distinct from the cuter possum species you get elsewhere.

The last time they did a jungle subtheme was the year before their last arctic subtheme right? So we’re definitely due to revisit that. Would definitely be worthwhile since they’ve introduced the big cat cub, python, new monkey, baby crocodile, and toucan molds since then. And if they made use of the toucan and set it firmly in South America we could get a system style sloth to match the Friends one and a proper capybara to make up for that sad reprinted Friends hamster in the Encanto set.

I keep hoping that City will do a full woodland animal rescue subtheme instead of just the occasional camping set here and there. They’ve already got a deer stag, hare, otter, squirrel, bear, owl and eagle. A proper wave of woodland sets would give them a chance to feature all of those, recolor the new bear cub mold, bring back the skunk, and introduce new molds like the doe, fawn, fox, racoon and wolf.

Definitely, if it weren’t for the head shape that mold would be perfect to go alongside the current stag. Hopefully we see something unlicensed in the near future.

Unfortunately, there’s legal issues with with making Tarzan merchandise that Disney just doesn’t seem interested in hashing out. Song of the South is another one we won’t be seeing anything for ever for… other reasons. Suffice to say that Disney is rethemeing Splash Mountain specifically so they can scrub everything to do with that movie from the public eye, and I can’t say I blame them for wanting to. -

The Build Your Own Adventure book had a build essentially identical to the old 2001 Sorting Hat set with the stool and a spinner underneath. So I’d consider that covered. Also, Quality Quidditch Supplies was very well represented in the Diagon Alley D2C, so as far as updates to London sets go we’re really only missing Borgin & Burke’s (and Gringott’s but that’s being remedied) -

Don’t forget Namaari, I’m pretty certain she appeared alongside Raya in one of her sets One of the Encanto storybooks also featured micro versions of Isabella and Luisa, but I’m not sure you’d necessarily count those since they can’t be used alongside the regular minidolls. Although, let’s be real, now that Encanto has hit audiences and the marketing teams have seen the public’s reactions to all the characters, we’re way more likely to see a Bruno minifigure before Abuela or Antonio. Hasn't the Fairy Godmother appeared in a Cinderella minidoll set as well? EDIT: Just looked it up out of interest. In addition to the ones mentioned above there’s also Lady Tremaine from Cinderella, Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty (rumored but not actually in anything yet), Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid (why he and human Ariel didn’t make it into the new castle I can’t fathom), Boun and Human Sisu from Raya and the Last Dragon, Maui a random villager from Moana and Lieutenant Matthias from Frozen II And most importantly, Merida from Brave! Can’t believe we forgot her on the list -

I’m pretty sure the castle isn’t going to be the same - WB and HBO are just using images of the movie castle because the tv series is so early in the pre-production process that it doesn’t have its own castle design yet. Which tracks with the fact that I haven’t heard a single casting announcement or even rumor yet. I wouldn’t be shocked to learn that the people in charge of designing the shows Hogwarts hadn’t even been hired yet when they made the announcement, never mind anywhere close to having a finalized design. Max seem to have decided to preempt any rumors by announcing the show as soon as JKR signed on. Which all goes to say that we won’t be seeing any effect on the available merchandise for years. -

All this^^^ plus, just look at the Disney Princess minidoll line. Despite there being over half a dozen live action princess adaptations at this point, Lego’s only done sets based off of the latest Little Mermaid. Combined with how contentiously the news of the series is being received and I don’t think we’ll have to worry about the new media format completely replacing the old in merchandise anytime soon. -

People would riot, but it could easily just be referring to things like Belle’s hair and the Beast’s head. Those would still be compatible with minifigs, and the leaker specifically says “same parts” instead of “same mini dolls” or “same figures” so I wouldn’t consider it worth worrying too much about. I’m still taking this all with a heaping helping of salt until it’s confirmed by someone much more reliable though. -

Yes, he was in the same year as Fred and George (and Angelina and Cedric). So he should have mid legs in a SS set. The new hair really does fit Lee so well, very frustrated that nobody’s posted any lots on bricklink yet, I’ll just have to keep an eye out. -
I find it unlikely that Lego would do a Police Box set unattached to Doctor Who - I mean, they could easily have done Aston Martin, DeLorean, and Dodge Charger sets not connected to any media franchise and instead went for iconic franchise team ups on those despite cars being pretty easy to sell on their own. The appearance of a Police Box in the background of a lifestyle photo does give me hope though - it just so unnecessarily specific and Lego has put clues to sets that are in the pipeline in the background of pictures or interviews before. I could easily see Lego doing a collectors edition TARDIS using a similar format as the archway in the Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary set - big blue box the opens up like a dollhouse to reveal several small scenes inside, either half a dozen different console rooms or half a dozen scenes from various locations, all featuring a different Doctor an companion(s). I would be a good way to kick start a proper theme, perhaps next to a wave of kid friendly sets based off the 15th Doctor’s first series that Disney will want to push with younger audiences, and maybe even a cmf (fingers crossed).

Meh, that’s a very American holiday - Disney might be American based but Lego isn’t so it’s completely possible they’d ignore in regards to social media announcements. It’s not like any Americans will be abstaining from digital media for the day, and an American holiday isn’t going to mean a European social media team won’t be coming into work. -

She also has long wavy hair just like the unreleased Vidiyo piece too. Still, the design of her hat is generic enough that it wouldn’t be crazy to see it used elsewhere at the same time. -

This^^^ Plus, it’s known that Bill works there and he does appear there during the trio’s heist in the Gringotts theme park ride - which admittedly I would consider very soft canon, but you’re right that it wouldn’t be the first theme park Easter egg lego has done. Plus, he’s the only member of the Weasley family who appeared on screen that hasn’t been made in Lego form yet.
