  1. I suppose that could still theoretically work in conjunction with the CMF if the license in question is Street Fighter. We still don’t know if any of these are connected to the CMF though, it’s all just a ‘what if’ to keep in mind while we wait for more info.
  2. I think ‘B’ is probably the rumored K-Pop Demon Hunters sets – in part because there are two 12+ sets there and experience says that’s more likely to be because they’re buildable objects rather than playsets for a more mature theme (examples: the Wednesday playsets are 10+ despite the show being very dark. Harry Potter playsets are between 7-10+ but several of the buildable objects/animals are 14+). A buildable Derpy Tiger is an obvious choice for a set (there have been multiple Ideas submissions), so I could easily see him being 72421 or 72422, the other one being a buildable Huntr/x logo with a trio of minidolls or minifigs, and 72423 being a big stage playset with plenty of characters. The leak didn’t specify if we were looking at two returning themes and one new, or one returning theme and two new, so ‘P’ and ‘Lollipop’ are really up in the air. Personally, I think ATLA has a stronger chance of getting new sets than TMNT or SpongeBob simply because Legend of Aang is coming out this year and the theme has definitely seems more popular than the other two as far as Lego Ideas submissions go.
  3. Latest leaks name three code-named themes that are ‘new IP and returning’: - P (one set: 72306 $160) - B (three sets: 72421 [12+], 72422 [12+], 72423 $120) - Lollipop (one set: 72537 $70) And I’m dropping the info here because conceivably one of these could be a tie in set for the September CMF since new IP is mentioned. (I suspect B is the rumored K-Pop Demon Hunters sets and one of the others is supposedly a returning theme, but that still leaves a medium or large sized set) It seems prudent to bring up the possibility, since the biggest sticking point for IPs like Shrek and Narnia is “majorly important quadrupedal characters are too large to be a Minifigure accessory”, which having a tie in set would fix.
  4. Bring back the trans clear and trans green mug (from the Harry Potter polyjuice set) as green beer? Although the issue there might be Lego’s ‘no realistic/contemporary alcohol’ rule
  5. The series 17 chef (who is much more similar to a chocolatier than any of the other professions you listed) didn’t though. So it’s not like there’s any hard precedent.
  6. The Minifigures team seems to be consciously going out of the way to give us at least one period (but not medieval or pirate) character in recent normal series. We’ve had the Steampunk Inventor, Noir Detective, Newsboy, and the Marie Antoinette expy. I like the trend, personally. It breaks up the rut of castle-city-futuristic space that CMFs could easily get stuck in if they only went with popular demand, and it definitely fits the ‘not wanting something that could come in a normal set’ ideal a lot of people mention as wanting from the theme. (also, all these characters are just objectively fun, even if they’re not all something I’d personally buy)
  7. The list of observations put out by the leaker seems to be one for each fig in the same order as the character list they put out (for instance: ‘Soccer Goalkeeper, Marine Biologist, Tuba Player’ corresponds to ‘new soccer ball, new Nemo fish element, new tuba’). That means the observation about the brown D&D dragon piece goes with the Chocolatier. Meaning the dragon is likely appearing in brown because it’s a chocolate sculpture. The Chocolatier is also stated to be Willy Wonka adjacent, so we should expect a character with period clothes instead of a modern chef’s jacket.
  8. It gets even more frustrating when we’re having this whole conversation in a thread about Collectible Minifigure Series. “Lego already made a $300 18+ set and Brickheadz for the Teens Fight Supernatural Monsters streaming show, why wouldn’t they use the potentially R-rated movie based off my favorite Adults Beating Each Other Up video game as the license for their latest line of traditionally 5+ blind boxes that commonly gets sold in checkout lines next to the candy and soda?”
  9. The only info the leaker gave on the tuba player is ‘new tuba’ so I’m assuming that means a new mold.
  10. Technically, Crabbe would be new and Goyle hasn’t been done since 2011.
  11. There’s no think about it. That goatherd that wasn’t much of an appealing character on his own got strip mined from freshly opened cases for his goat just as much as the Beastmaster who was equally as desirable as his wolf companion. People were buying hand help endoscopes to find him and the blind boxes conveniently started being printed with scannable codes after the first few shipments for that series. Lego knows. Which is why I’m still scratching my head over the people moaning doom and gloom and saying the Elf will probably just have a unicorn emblazoned on a shield. Like, the Beastmaster had a wolf on his shield… along with an actual wolf. And that was a new mold – the unicorn foal already exists.
  12. Molds don’t really retire. If they go out unused for long enough it becomes a little more expensive to bring them back, but the mold still exists unless the master gets damaged in some way (this apparently is what happened to the goat) or Lego’s style evolves so much it’s no longer in system. The smooth haired cat and kitten molds have been in pretty consistent use since they were introduced – cats are domestic animals that can be thrown into generic City sets and modular buildings very easily. So even though the longhair hasn’t appeared outside of a CMF yet, I really don’t think there’s anything to worry about. (And if Mrs. Norris does show up using the longhair mold, then she’ll keep it in general use for years) I’m expecting the entire underground section to be devoted to the actual Chamber. The set is huge, but wit the chute and landing area, tunnel collapse, and inner chamber there’s a lot of ground to cover, so I don’t think the Slytherin common room will actually fit. In the upper levels, Myrtle’s bathroom and the graffitied corridor outside are a must. But with the Hospital Wing, Dumbledore’s Office, Dueling Club, and even Transfiguration classroom having all been done already, the rest of the upstairs probably will be based off location rather than movie association (similar to how the Grand Staircase Tower features Dumbledore’s Office because that’s where the office is located despite the fact that the rest of the set is based off the first movie). That section of castle included the Library in the 2018 microscale, and while that set played a bit fast and loose with a lot of locations, the Library is a solid choice to include here as a larger room that features in many of the movies but doesn’t have any scenes worth making a standalone set of (the last and only decently sized version was bundled with the previous Dumbledore’s Office set). Character wise, I’m not inclined to be optimistic about getting a new polyjuice trio. Previous polyjuiced minifigures have been in sets that exclusively represent the scene the characters were polyjuiced during. In contrast, the big showstopper here is supposed to be the Chamber of Secrets. Nobody wants have Harry fighting the Basilisk with the sword of Gryffindor while wearing Slytherin robes. Likewise, nobody wants the Harry from one of his most climatic scenes stuck with one expression because he’s got Goyle’s face on the back of his head. We might get polyjuiced Hermione, since she doesn’t participate in the final fight, but not the boys. Since we know there are a dozen minifigures, I’d say: 1)Harry, 2) Ron, 3) Ginny, 4) Tom Riddle, 5) Lockhart, and 6) Myrtle are all pretty certain, with the two Weasleys the strongest candidates for the set’s anniversary patronus. For the rest, my guesses are 7) Hermione, 8) Filch with Mrs. Norris, 9) Justin, 10) Crabbe, 11) Goyle, 12) a Ravenclaw student (I won’t even pretend to know who it will be, but all the large installments of this castle system have included at least one student from each house so far). I don’t care what color Lockhart’s robes are as long as he has a proper cloth cape. He needs to be able to collapse on the tunnel floor and he can’t to that with a plastic cape like the one he’s wearing in the Dueling Club set.
  13. I imagine the color scheme and general feudal Japanese vibe is what made the leaker think of Lloyd. Green is definitely a good choice for a character you’ve imagined skulking around forests and such, after all. It’s also worth noting that ronin are just masterless samurai, and samurai armor definitely has a mask-like lower face protection that a quick google search shows some people incorporating into ronin costumes. Plus, there’s plenty of Western media featuring ronin with your typical fabric lower face mask – because a lot of westerners are just going to see them as noble loner ninja.
  14. You’re right, and I am rather irked that Lego didn’t make use of it for the shop attendant in Quality Quidditch Supplies – the Sprout hairpiece with the built in earmuffs just isn’t as versatile as they want to pretend it is. I don’t see why a new Mrs. Norris is something to get glum about. Sure, the first version was great and I’d rather get a new Crookshanks, but with how big the East Wing is I’d be disappointed if it didn’t include the graffitied wall in minifig scale for the first time and Mrs. Norris to go with it. Think of it like the Snape minifigures – the 2018 version was excellent and the best we’d ever seen, but later versions with arm printing details were a delightful step up. Mrs. Norris is fluffy. Mrs. Norris is the first victim in CoS. Logically, an absolutely massive CoS set should include Mrs. Norris, and she should use the fluffy cat mold now that it’s available.
  15. Exactly. The original leaker mistook the Mysterious Ronin for a Ninjago fig and failed to note that the Bionicle fig was a costume. The leaker who revealed the list only really made one specific comment on each character, with some being frustratingly vague – Robot T-Rex simply gets “Great fig” does that mean it’s getting new head and tail molds or has Lego just done a very good job repurposing the old ones? We can only guess. Likewise, the Cute Witch is described as “pretty standard” – the last stereotypical witch we got came with the equally stereotypical black cat, which is ‘pretty standard’ for a witch. Does that mean this one will also have a familiar? We can only guess. I do think it’s a bit too much of a coincidence that we’re getting a ‘Unicorn Elf’ just a year after a unicorn foal mold was introduced. And just doing a unicorn emblazoned shield would mean copying both series 17’s Elf Maiden and series 18’s Unicorn Costume Fan, which seems uncharacteristically uncreative for a team that cooked up Robot T-Rex, Bionicle Cosplayer, and used a Chocolatier as an opportunity to establish the D&D dragon as an unlicensed part.
  16. I think there’s been clarification that the Ronin was just mistaken for Lloyd. Which probably means that he looks like a typical ronin with notable amounts of green.
  17. Jadis (the White Witch) is actually still the main villain in the Magician’s Nephew. I also think you’re overestimating/underestimating the average level of Narnia knowledge people have – it’s been long enough since the last set of movies that anyone considering themselves a fan of the series will have read the books and be familiar with the prequel characters, while people only casually familiar with the lore will see Jadis, some kids dressed in period clothes, some adults dressed as royalty, and a handful of mythological creatures and consider it familiar enough, especially if they’re seeing trailers with the ‘new’ characters already. The bigger obstacle is that two of the most iconic characters to the story, Aslan and Fledge, are large animals instead of humanoids, but considering the people have already been having a similar conversation about Donkey from Shrek I don’t think that should rule them out yet.
  18. I’m definitely keeping my eye on the Cute Witch, and since the Unicorn Elf’s outfit doesn’t have anything that particularly screams unicorn about it, it’s safe to say that this will be an easy way to get your hands on the new unicorn mold released last year. And for anyone wanting to expand their collection of baby dragons there will apparently be a recolor of the D&D one in reddish brown that will come with a Chocolatier – who is reportedly Willy Wonka inspired and therefore will probably have vaguely Victorian inspired clothing that will blend well with the wizarding world.
  19. Good to know. I’m not familiar enough with the property to know what merchandise agreements it’s already got going on. I still think Shrek and Narnia have a better chance than Street Fighter or Hunger Games though.
  20. The ‘new license, never had sets before’ is intriguing, although a little disappointing that it essentially rules out the Legend of Aang movie. I suppose it’s probably too much to hope for something based on The Odyssey either (although that would be epic). I’d say the best candidates would be the aforementioned Shrek 5, the new Narnia movies, or Masters of the Universe (surprised no one else has mentioned that one yet).
  21. So as far as animals go, we know for sure: - Marine Biologist comes with a new clownfish - Unicorn elf comes with a unicorn - Chocolatier comes with the D&D baby dragon recolored to look like chocolate I doubt we’ll see any animals with the Soccer Goalie, Tuba Player, Robot T-Rex, Boba Cup Fan, Bionicle Cosplayer, or Mysterious Ronin. However, - Monster Hunter could come with something like a bat - Cute Witch could come with a familiar (‘cute’ could easily mean she’s a kid witch with a kitten familiar or something similar) - Trash Monster already has bugs printed on it, so its accessories could include more bugs I'm aware that 3 animals in a series is already pretty good, but since only one is a new mold it doesn’t seem crazy to speculate we might get another preexisting mold not mentioned in leaks yet. (It’s also worth mentioning that the extra comments from the leaker on the Elf focus on her using the Wonder Woman hair and tiara and not the fact that she presumably comes with a large animal)
  22. I’m gonna give myself half a point for the marching band member since the only reason I didn’t list tuba as an option is because a brick built one just came out in the latest modular. Other than that, complete strike out. To be fair, I’m not sure anyone would have guessed ‘robot t-Rex’.
  23. I totally called the Bionicle fig being a costumed fan a month ago. Still, I expect he’ll still be very popular (and I’m fully expecting to see mods with the head replaced just like all the ones for series 28 currently circulating). I’m cackling at this – I’d actually be cool having the viral ‘Chocolate Guy’ as a Minifigure. However, the leaks specifically cite ‘Willy wonker’ (sic), so we should expect something a little more Victorian as far as clothing goes. I’m definitely looking forward to the Unicorn elf, especially since the leaked fig not having a horn confirms she comes with an actual unicorn. (Presumably the same mold introduced last year. Fingers crossed for a mane color a little more ‘natural’ than purple.) Also eager to see the cute witch. Right now I’m imagining a kid/teenage witch with a little black kitten familiar – how cute would that be? The marine biologist sounds fun too – I missed the last one because of the whole *early 2020* release and my local stores just not stocking blind bags for months, so I definitely want to snag this one. Soccer player sounds painfully basic, but I guess Lego needed to leverage the CMF budget for the new ball. Curious to see what the slime monster and monster hunter will have as accessories. Genuinely surprised there’s not more chatter about the Robot T-Rex – it’s the only real sci-fi character this series but sounds rather fun.
  24. That garbage monster is… something… I mean, it’s not something I’ll be searching for for myself, but I can see little kids loving it, and the quality is top notch, plus I can’t say I’m not interested to see if other fun Vidiyo molds get brought back from the dead. Fingers crossed this means we’ll see the checklist soon.
  25. Personally very annoyed that they’ve done two different versions of Crookshanks but neither of them were particularly good. There are roosted and flying versions of Hedwig (both very accurate), a Pigwidgeon made just for the Owlery (he doesn’t even appear in the movies!), and while Scabbers is usually just the standard rat, the series 1 CMF included a unique version with a bald spot on the head. Crookshanks deserves an accurate version as well, but unless 76477 somehow includes him we’re out of luck for this year. That said, we do have decent odds of getting a new fluffy Mrs. Norris in the East Wing.
