Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
alvinofdiaspar replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Yeah I am not a huge fan of the Orion capsule or the lunar lander with the bubble canopy either - though given the fact that the line is for kids, understandable why they did it. Oddly enough the 2019 Launch control and Rocket assembly sets is a tad more accurate (well, the latter had the upper stage as cargo storage...so not quite). Also not a huge fan of the blue-tinted window elements in space; for accuracy it would have been better in dark grey. -

I guess you'd have to make Alia out of Lepin bricks. -

I am not a big fan of the launch facility - the undersized rocket with the astronauts sitting in what would have been the fuel tank IRL (it is modelled on the Space Launch System Block 1A) wrecked it for me. I'd love the the white quarter domes and some of the other elements though! -
Latest news about Lego animal moulds

The Friends Pet Store Clinic (not sure if it is the official name, what I saw was too low res and in German) have leaked as well - there seem to be one, if not two animals (one is black, look like a Mini Schanuzer?); there are also 2 round tiles with dog and cat prints used in the signage of the store.- 5,876 replies

I wanted the space sets for 2022 far more badly than the 2019 ones. That new gateway station looks great - though the solar arrays are way off scale - it will need some AFOL attention. -

Excellent point about accessibility with wheelchairs - I also want to see a quasi-functional escalator for modulars (unlike the fake one in GE) - New Elementary covered it a little: https://www.newelementary.com/2021/10/lego-element-development-escalator-link.html -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

It "might" work - though keep in mind the angle of the wedge is established by the slopes of certain specific pieces and I am not sure if you can simply extend it easily without having it extend beyond the limits of the base plate (have to look at the instructions to get an idea). -

It would, though you'd still need some space for internal circulation for any floor with more than 1 room. I think the low floor height for the 2nd and 3rd floors might be driven by the lack of space in the stairwell to enable a larger amount of vertical travel. As to elevators - I always find the implementation by TLG hasn't been that great (e.g. TH modular). I do wish Lego move more to a 32x32 + 16x32 arrangement, if even it is more expensive. -

They probably couldn't - without throwing the wedge-shaped theme of the build entirely out of the window on a single 32x32 baseplate. I mean this image from Lego (via Jay's Brick Blog) sort of illustrates the geometry and the limitations: -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Personally I am not so hung up on the hotel only providing a bathroom for the suite - the modulars have always taken their liberties with it (skipping bathrooms, having only the toilet, etc). I find illogical - if not downright absent - staircases to be more of a bother, but it is just something to be accepted given the limited footprint of these sets. -

Thanks for the effort - looks great in my books and almost a natural match with each other. -

I intend to rectify that - modulars are begging for a squirrel invasion. Now if only they do a proper raccoon for the back alley garbage bins.- 5,876 replies

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
alvinofdiaspar replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
It would be so interesting to do a "mirror image" of the build to create an internal laneway/courtyard that isn't rectilinear. A single 32x32 is way too restrictive. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
alvinofdiaspar replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
It is - but I am okay with that (just like real cities tend to be a bit messy) - it makes life interesting. The arrangement of the fronds on the palm tree really bothers me - the trunk looks great though. It will be the first thing I will rework when my get my hands on the set. I will probably raise the 2nd and 3rd floor by one brick each too. -

Like I have said, it's Lego - it's meant to be modified to suit one's tastes - and they can't possibly please everyone. I think part of the fun is making these sets truly "yours" by modifying them. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

It's Lego and it shouldn't be a static thing - you can always strip that Art gallery out, move the check-in desk to the side right by the stairs and open that wall up and turn that space into a small bar. -

It could definitely benefit from a 16x32 extension to the hotel portion. The composition shot with the Police/Bookshop sets shows how the 2nd and 3rd floors have much lower ceiling heights. -

The leaked description (triangular profiled hotel, wedged art gallery and staircase in between with tree atop) is accurate. Lots of colour in this one. -

Granted I am totally outside their City series target demographic now (the last time I was in it was the 80s, haha!) but the City builds from the last 5 years or so - especially the buildings are just so dumbed-down. -
