  1. Apologies- I actually would legitimately buy the GONK. He's a fan-favorite and by far the funniest character, and with his boxy shape I think it'd be really neat if they could have him be sort of hollow and leave an opening to store stuff (like a power bank) in there. I hope eventually it will stop, but I think we're a couple years away from lego even realizing that this strategy won't work.
  2. Yeah, I agree, I'm not saying it's good that we're getting them, just that it's not impossible it was at some point meant to capitalize on rebels anniversary nostalgia. It's been 8 years since the BB-8 statue so he's 100% getting a remake soon unfortunately, I wouldn't be shocked if we got the B1 and B2 too.
  3. I agree it'll likely be Ahsoka or just general star wars branding, but to be fair to @CloneCommando99, it wouldn't be the first time lego's released sets likely meant to coincide with an anniversary a year late.
  4. Well for one thing, The Mandalorian is objectively so much more popular than any other star wars show that it's almost silly. It might not have retained the juggernaut status it had, but the first season was MASSIVE. Baby Yoda alone was a cultural phenomenon none of the other shows have matched. It's really not hard to see why Mando gets the most show sets. As for Andor specifically, it's the only star wars show that doesn't stick to family friendliness. As a result not many kids are watching it, not just because of maturity in terms of the traditional film/tv factors, but younger kids would just be bored. The best scenes in Andor tend to be monologues, ones that are incredible character work and thought provoking, but if you give a kid an option between that and a guy with a lightsaber slashing stuff up, it's no contest. Andor doesn't have the action-per-minute rate of the other shows, and what action we do get is a lot less "cool space battle" or "lightsaber duel" and more "our antihero shoots some guys in cold blood" or "rebel holds a rifle to an officer's innocent family". Since it's not actively TV-MA, we can still get some sets, and I'm glad we do as I love the show, but it's not exactly a mystery as to why it's not getting the coverage other projects have.
  5. I mean to be fair this MTT is the first real chance the seppies have had against the clones since the clone age began, so I think anything else might be too much to expect from lego. Something for the empire would be nice, but I don't have any hope. Lol. I do wonder if that's part of their strategy, but at the same time the death star is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than a full wave of lego star wars sets normally is, and of course I doubt most people buy they entire wave at once even if they want all the sets- hardcore collectors, maybe, but the average person is going to space those out.
  6. Aw man, it's the movie theme too. I was hoping for comics. Interesting that they all have something, basically confirms mid-invisibility Sue. Whoever said we might not get a single normal torso appears to be right. I do hope we get a comic set soon with a bigfig thing.
  7. Whoah dude it's not 20BBY anymore, you can't call droids that. Honestly I'm fine with us not getting R-rated sets. Lego is a family friendly brand at the end of the day.
  8. Sure, but if we want to get pedantic to the level of "these are variants of existing shinies", Bacara and Bly are variants of lego's favorite clone, the P1 commander. (I think? I know it's been different at various points- some were trained as ARCs, Rex I think at one point was said to not have started as any sort of specialist but gone through ARC training, etc). Battle of the heroes would be cool.
  9. Yeah, we in the states got the AT-TE a few weeks later than everyone else due to shipping or something. And some years ago we used to get star wars waves several months later- I remember ordering some of the 2017 RO sets from the UK in january so I didn't have to wait two months.
  10. They counted wrong, even if I was buying every LSW playset I don't think I'd even be up to half of that, even if I wanted a 3ft ball in my home. This is generally true, but my issue is twofold: 1) I can't think of the last time it was this bad variety wise. Maybe around the release of 2008 clone wars, when those were almost all they made? I looked back on Brickset and every year through 2014 (which is just when I stopped searching, but I know we had the outer rim siege sets+cantina, ISD and AT-AT in 2014, and I know we had a geonosis wave+ a number of OT sets in 2013, etc) has some variety to it. 2) they aren't having as much of a focus on system sets as they used to. This number of clone sets wouldn't bother me if it was among a few more OT or sequel system sets, but it's peers are all buildable creatures or midi-scale ships. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the midi ships, but they're pumping out waaaaaay to many 18+ gimmick sets. I think we can assume a minimum of 4: 327th trooper, Bly, Bacara, Galactic Marine. The issue is moreso that there's ONLY clone/clone wars sets. It's not even all prequel-era, it's specifically 99% clone trooper/clone related sets. Why not at least throw in a new Mustafar or a senate duel or something?
  11. Marvel Rivals wave. The defining gimmick of the wave would be that the playset/terrain builds would all be modular and have explode features, much like how the game introduces dynamic/destroyable terrain to mainline hero shooter games. Training Grounds ($9.99): Small room with a target and Galacta bot with Spider-Man and a molded Jeff. It's Spider-Time! ($19.99): SP//dr mech and a small bit of a Japan 2099 building. Comes with Peni Parker, Moon Knight, Iron Man, and Luna Snow. Klyntar Breakout ($29.99): First convoy point from the Klyntar Map with Knull's essence and some terrain/cover. Knull's essence can explode to release venom like in the victory animatic for that side. Comes with Venom (new bulkier torso/armor piece), Mantis, Adam Warlock, and Star-Lord. Asgardian Assault ($39.99): Thor's chariot with goats and a bit of Asgard (One of those raised areas with a ramp and a tunnel underneath, as well as a bit of the base of the World Tree.) There is a function to launch Stormbreaker into the world tree from the chariot. Comes with Thor, Loki, Magneto, and Magick. Jeff the Land Shark ($69.99): Buildable Jeff with buildable accessories for snow goggles, a pink dolphin onesie, etc. Comes with a molded Jeff. Siege of Hydra Base (Assumably we wouldn't be able to give it the proper map name, as hard of "Siege of Heaven's Hell" would go) ($79.99): Midi-Scale Quinjet and a build for the Hydra landing pad and eldritch monument, with shifting wall features. Comes with Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Winter Soldier, Black Panther, and Hela. The Web of Life and Destiny ($119.99): Large Japan 2099 temple with plenty of explode features, to the extent that the entire temple can be collapsed, as well as the spider-crawler, SP//dr, a buildible Groot, and a second, smaller segment of japan 2099 terrain with a tree and grapple line to the building. Comes with Spider-Man, Peni Parker, Psylocke, Luna Snow, Doctor Strange, Punisher, Scarlet Witch, Squirrel Girl, and Rocket Raccoon. Exclusive Blister pack: Dark Rivals ($14.99): Comes with the Ven#m mech, Peni Parker (Ven#m skin), Moon Knight (Vampire Hunter), Iron Man (black suit) and Luna Snow (The black suit with green hair). GWP: Galacta Polybag (Galacta and a small buildable logo)
  12. "Sony's spider verse" does confirm it's the sony spider verse, but you really think someone would look at a set of twelve spider man multiversal variants and not call it a spider verse set? Yes, it's sad that the numbers have gotten so low. I remember when the Harry Potter series was something close to 20 figures and now we're almost half of that.
  13. Yeah exactly- I keep getting recommendations of some streamers that I really hope are parody, because man they are annoying. They make the guys you mentioned look like overwhelmingly positive and calm individuals. Yeah I planned out my purchases for the year, and the ONLY set that I'm 100% buying from star wars this year is that one. I might get the home one if it hits discount, but that's it. I would be interested in the U-wing, but I can't see a way it ends up being better than the 2016 model, and I'd be interested in the 327th pack if not for the price. That would bring the wave all the way around to "so bad it's good" (Not really, but it would be hilarious for the only sets for the kid-focused show to be a $140 ship and an 18+ set) BB-8 makes sense for TFA coverage, as does a B1 for the clone craze. I actually would really like a Gonk, they're a lot of fun. Hopefully. That's a suspiciously good PPP ratio for a set that I'm having trouble seeing being primarily comprised of tiny parts. I mean to an extent, but this is every single 2HY system set we're talking about. I think there are two non-clone/clone wars playsets this year, and it's a night trooper BP and the Andor set. Every playset not directly based on new content is clone/clone wars.
  14. I will say I want to specify it's not "the guys who like clones" when I say clone bros, it's those streamers and youtubers who have decided that lego star wars should be 100% clones and the fact that we don't have every clone ever is proof of some secret hatred lego has for the theme, and just constantly tell kids that. I mean it's certainly possible, but I'd be happy to have anyone beyond Cassian and some imp troopers.
  15. Not to mention that it's Sandman in either small hand form or giant sand monster form. They could just do a minifig Sandman. Though given we've got two giant men coming in a 6 month period, you're right that it's not unlikely they'll just slightly modify the NWH expansion model and plot it in the Raimi set.
  16. Part of this, even beyond the fact that we're getting too many clone sets, is just that I've never liked the torrent's design, but I feel like there are so many more popular republic ships. No Headhunter or V-wing? You'll get P1 Fil and a P1 Gree remake and you'll like it.
  17. That's what's most surprising to me, it'd be pretty easy to do a generic imperial set and chuck Cal and some Jedi series stormtrooper variants into it. Like you don't need to risk it all on a UCS Mantis, you can just have the next AT-ST include Cal and some purge troopers. Hey, they share helmets with the Airborne and some of them were jango clones, so maybe we will get them! It'll never be enough. My personal guess is that either the printing's bad, or they're going to say that lego's trying to create a scenario where they can pretend clone sets sell poorly by oversaturating the market. (Which TBH, they are oversaturating the market, but it's absurd to claim that's intentional- some guys on the design team preferring other movies does not outweigh a company's profit motive) Leave some for the rest of us bro, I don't think those two would get along well anyway! Cal is Literally Me, let me manifest Merrin and you can Manifest Dedra and then we can both be mad when there are no survivor sets and the U-wing inexplicably comes with Commander Doom. It has to be. I see the AT-TE and gunship on sale pretty regularly- I'm not saying they didn't sell well at all, but I can't imagine they sold so absurdly well that lego was like "ok cool this needs to be all we make now". Not to mention the battle packs- best case scenario they go out of stock on release day when the army builders buy up all the stock, but by a few months in they're already on sale at most retailers. I'm not saying the sets sell poorly, but I can't see the sales data being good enough to justify this massive of a shift to "this is all we make now". At least with the 18+ sets it's plausible that they're hitting a new market with them.
  18. What's much more concerning to me is that we haven't seen even a single Original trilogy system set. You know. The basis and backbone of the entire franchise, the ones that started it all, and the only ones that a majority of fans can agree on being really good. The ones that I don't think we've ever gone a year without any playsets for. Mando is popular and has gaps, but it's also (hopefully) gearing up for a heavy year with the movie in 2026, and there's not a new season to make sets off. (Though it is still surprising that it didn't get any system sets) TOO MANY? I don't think we've ever gotten more than a few sets a year. (Brickset confirms this- 3 2024, 3 2023, 1 2022, etc. The biggest year was 2021 with 5, but that was one year, and it was them trying to catch up for the lack of real coverage around release.).
  19. I do hope it's generic spiderverse, there's so many cool spider-man variants that aren't in the movie. I would really like some of the major players from the comic. Yeah, I don't think Sony Spider-man needs a modular, there aren't many buildings that would really make sense. Even past that, I think any raimi spider man modular would struggle to including interesting minifigures- in terms of costumed characters, you have Spidey, Goblin, Ock, Venom, Sandman, and New Goblin, and that's it. Sure, you could stretch it a bit by adding the Raimi symbiote suit or something, but still not many. I'd rather have a comic oscorp with a few sony characters coming out of a portal or something. (Or the Baxter Building, or the Avengers Mansion, or what have you) before a Raimi modular. Glad someone liked it. I would assume they'll re-use Tobey, no reason not to (though I hope he comes with a new unmasked head- he's not masked in the iconic part of the scene and they head they gave him in the NWH set doesn't work great). I hope they'll do a new Otto though, especially because the set really doesn't have a ton of costumed characters- civlians and/or a train conductor could get away with re-using parts. I actually am really interested to see how this turns out because aside from the modulars, I can't think of the last time we got a (non-Pepper Potts) civilian in a marvel set. 2019 Aunt May? Potentially Katy from Shang-Chi in 2021? Also I finally did pick up marvel rivals (THE MOON HAUNTS YOU) and have really enjoyed it- it's also very popular, so I could see Rivals designs showing up in the generic comic sets if it's still popular down the line.
  20. You might be the Lisan Al Gaib. Yup. A new snowspeeder is actually something I REALLY want! I skipped the 2020 one and would really like to get a new one. Though I do almost want them to wait until they give in and create a color in-between LBG and white. I think we've been getting just one 4+ a year recently, so I think we're safe there. And a luke's landspeeder microfighter would be really funny (and if he had a poncho the set would unironically go hard.)
  21. The blue MTT is especially strange to me because we have seen clones interact with brown MTTs before. We know they look at battlefront 2017 for clone designs already... (Now watch the set be a blue MTT that comes with one of the battlefront 2017 exclusive legions. I'd lose it) Yeah I mean it's something, but it's still significantly less than they've done for most other anniversaries.
  22. Seriously. We're all hyped up for anniversaries in this theme now, right? Let's get a single system set for TFA's anniversary since there haven't been any sequel sets in half a decade. I don't even LIKE the sequels all that much, it'd just be nice to have a bit of variety. (And Black One is a sick starfighter and I want a remake) I know you don't usually do multiple responses to a single hint, but if possible, is this more of a "they're more clones" expectation tempering, or a "they're 18+ gimmick sets" tempering?
  23. I really can't imagine it would, Renown's hints usually end up pretty clearly implying one character/scene/whatever once they're figured out. If there was no Enoch in the night trooper set, I assume he'd just be like "I can't believe nobody said (Enoch Line)" or something rather than what's either a reference to the trench run or a scene from clone wars 2003. Exactly- enoch has gold on him, yes, and leads troops in some capacity, but especially given that there are characters with the callsign gold leader, I can't imagine that referred to him. (Also, we've so far really only seen him take orders from thrawn- and talk to sabine one time-, and he doesn't have THAT much gold on him. While I suppose it's technically accurate, I just don't think it's a good description of the character and can't see renown being like "Ah, yes, this describes Enoch perfectly") But the hint was saying we lost gold leader. I think CC's correct, but even if he's not I assume it'd be referring to the gold leader who died. Yeah I'm fully on board with this theory now, especially since Renown called out which set had the clone pilot. Very disappointed in this year. I am once again correct in my naysaying prediction that lego was moving towards massive amounts of gimmick sets with primarily clone trooper based system sets. It's cool for clone fans, I guess, but this isn't maintainable. I assume it won't be almost 100% clone sets for the playsets again next year- just because they'd run out of non-super obscure vehicles- but at a certain point I think most kids are going to have enough clones that they aren't as mesmerized by each new color of stripe on their armor. (I also think they're shooting themselves in the foot a bit with the oversaturation just off the fact that a number of kids- and adults- are just in it for the figs, and if there's a ton of clone battle packs or smaller sets out there, they might not be as inclined to get/ask for the $120+ sets)
  24. Yup, I assumed Book Nook was just lego's fancy name for bookends, I didn't realize they were an actual thing. I assumed they were just normal bookends, which case I was imagining something like this: I agree a cramped cube would be a bad representation of the scene, and looking back it doesn't seem like there were any leaks of it being a book nook, people were just discussing it so I though it'd been rumored. Ok so it's definitely not a book nook them. I think it's unlikely- we've seen Falcon in sets since then and he doesn't use the wing piece,
  25. If they had sets out alongside the film I probably would have bought a small or mid range one with Doctor Fate. Some of my friends would have too- and did end up buying other doctor fate merch- all of us who saw it agreed Black Adam wasn't remotely interesting but that Doctor Fate looked awesome. But I mean that's expecting lego to produce non batman figures. See, you know, with that last sentence. You know that it sounds like something they would do.
