  1. What? What's wrong with getting the generic nazis like in the original line? I get not wanting, like, swastikas on them, but just having figures named "guard' or "enemy soldier" seems perfectly fine.
  2. You fool! It's possible, though a little unlikely, that we get the first 4 minifigs, but NO WAY does modok show up as a mini fig. We arent getting 5 minifigs in a $30 set. He'll be brick built for sure.
  3. Yup, the $30 set is the issue. Modok's build should be around $10 of it, so to speak, so a Kang Ship would be pretty small. I'd be ok with just Modok and some quantum realm terrain with an explode feature or something, or a giant-man smaller than the airport version. Something tells me we'll see kang's fleet again, in a film that'll get more sets...
  4. Between Aquaman and Avatar I'm learning that my opinions on a film's quality are very unpopular when large quantities of water are involved. (Actually, we can even add BP 2. I liked it, but people seem to think it's a top 3 MCU film or something) But yeah. As "unwise" as many of lego's DC decisions are, not making an aquaman 2 set is crazy even for them. Though if we do end up getting 2 aquaman 2 sets, we could end up with one of the first years where the majority of system sets aren't batman ones.
  5. Um, because it's a playset, because every kid I knew as a kid strived after that set, and it's pretty much been ingrained in pop culture as being "the" SW set. It's in the spider man films. I read (Non lego or star wars) books as a kid that talked about the lego death star. Also, you're really gonna act like the UCS death star is a standard UCS set? A kid would TOTALLY want a $200 statue of liberty battle set. The minifigs are DEFINATELY enough. You know the amount of grown adults that want the bugle for DD and punisher, or the AT-TE for the clones? You really don't think kids want sets for figs too? This is blatant Bernie the Cab Driver erasure. I mean yeah, because it's marketing and coming out soon. But people knowing about the new marvel movie coming doesn't discount love for the big films like Endgame or NWH. I think if anything people would be more likely to buy a set off a film they loved rather than one that's not out yet. (To the extent that it's a new set. Obviously someone might prefer a Mando S3 set to a fifteenth x-wing, and if we were on our 7th Liberty Parlance I would assume it wouldn't do as well as the first.)
  6. The success of the death star implies this is not the case, though. The death star was skinned alive so it was just the interior, because it was a big playset, not a UCS display. Assumably, this is the route they should take with a NWH statue of liberty set. (Just like I doubt most Bugle purchasers were massive fans of the concept of the daily bugle workplace. People bought it because it was designed well and a great display for all the superhero figures.) I don't think so at all. The majority of people who saw, say, the Avengers films or No Way Home haven't seen every movie leading up to it. Tons of people still love the movie because most people don't treat it as a giant TV show, most people treat the movies as movies. I mean I haven't even seen every phase 4 project (Eternals and She-hulk were just so bad I couldn't get all the way through, and Ms.Marvel seemed fine but just wasn't for me.). I know a lot of people who don't even watch the MCU at all but saw NWH after they learned Tobey's spider man was in it.
  7. *Coughs in Death Star* I've made this point time after time, but lego is banking on this being a set kids would save up for YEARS to buy, just like the death star. A Liberty Battle D2C would be this generation's death star. (And a great deal cheaper too, even if we don't count the horrific inflation of the past few years the death star was 2.5x more than the supposed NWH D2C when it retired) Most logical deadpool fan. (I'm joking @Lemerbrix, I get your point. At the very least, someone at lego is actively advocating for deadpool, so there is a chance he could be in an 18+ set eventually). I'm not saying you personally have to care about them. (Actually, yes. I am. I am forcing you to care about this particular sub-line of plastic toys. This is totally logically coherent.) However, being a year old means nothing general sales-wise if the movie is anywhere NEAR as loved or popular as NWH. The OT generally had the best-selling sets until the kids who grew up with TCW got old enough to bulk buy anything involving a clone. Harry Potter sets sell super well for some reason. Nolan Trilogy sets still sell well, when they make DC sets at all. Can't wait for the CMF to be half full of figs for a show that'll launch at least half a year after it! MTTSH's variant. (I would say echo fighter, but variant is marvel, so...)
  8. It's interesting. My guess is that they're show related, since they've generally kept to only doing august 1st and the fall D2C for 2HY. Either "spoilery" stuff from Mando/Ahsoka or just the main ship from Skeleton Crew since IIRC it's rumored to come out in late 2023. Theory is a new gimmick. Also, there's that $24.99 set that BETTER be a star wars bionicle or something because it's part count is lower than a battlepack.
  9. Hahaha, I wish. Thanks. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the partisan color scheme, I just prefer the blue squadron. (Well, I prefer classic red, but out of the two I made..) Thank you! The Reaper is a favorite of mine as well. Aw man, I totally should have put Luthen in it. No problem, I always love the suggestions. Coming up with what to make is one of the harder parts of making these (except for consistently failing to make the largest set of the wave. I think my community wishlist ones are the only ones I've done the biggest set for), so I always like to get ideas from people.
  10. After getting 2 copies of the new 501st battle pack, I thought I'd take stock of my full clone army, and I decided to post it here to show off the Mods and Mocs I've made over the years: First up we've got the gunship. I've posted it before, but I figured I'd include it again for those who haven't seen it. It's a pretty basic mod of 75201. Some noted changes are that it's more similar to a clone wars gunship, with the front doorways being sealed, the bay doors being extended to fully seal the ship, and the removal of the bubble turrets in the main bay. Some changes made to save money (I bought the parts rather than buying the ship used because...wow those bricklink prices) are replacing the remaining bubble turrets with those of the 2002 gunship (which saved me $80 back when I did this, since for some reason the 2013 bubbles were $40 each), and replacing the stickered LBG giant slopes with white ones I had lying around. It fits at least 2 squads + Anakin, Rex, and 2 jet troopers. Those front openings aren't the easiest to put back in, but if you pull out the cart and wedge your finger in there, you can stick them in well. I've been informed that the CW doors partially open forewords, so that's on the agenda for fixing this summer. I posted my digital MOC of this a year or so ago, but here it is physically. This isn't a MOD, but a full MOC, with a different skeleton, feet, legs, shell, etc. The interior is just a replica of the UCS AT-AT seating though. It fits 2 drivers, a gunner, and 12 seated troops+however many you want to awkwardly bend over the seated guys so they can fit under the shell. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out but it is hard to get into the interior, so I might work on that. I've posted this MOC a billion times, but I figured we'd give the TX-130 a close-up for completion's sake. Despite the downsizing I like the 2023 AV-7, though the lack of a control panel really annoyed me, so I added one. It was only a couple parts, IDK why lego didn't just do that in the set. I also added a cone to the tip because I thought it looked better. The 501st version is literally just a colorswap of my mod (if you can call adding just 5 pieces a mod) My old AT-RT Mocs/mods to get them to the right size. They're very chibi-looking, but I prefer it to the hilariously large official walkers. Here we've got the 501st version alongside one in classic republic colors. And then the speeders, which are a little sleeker than the official ones. Not much to say. The classic GAR one is not a mod of the 75280 model and more of a mod of the classic BARC archtype. And finally, a look at my full 501st army. I prefer the 212th or just generic troops, but these have definately been the easiest to army-build. We've got Anakin, Rex, Appo, Fives, 16 standard troopers, 4 heavies, 2 snipers, 2 officers, 2 jet troopers, 2 pilots, 2 LAAT gunners, 1 AV-7 gunner, and 1 trooper who gets to be an AT-TE driver because they don't have a canon design in phase 2.
  11. I think the fear is MODOK will be the villain of the set. Either way, people are going to complain. If it's Cassie, people will complain that we didn't get the main villain. If it's Kang, people will complain that Kang is definately going to appear again soon, but it might be longer for Cassie. And the complaints are reasonable, too. 4 minifigs in a $30 set shouldn't be unrealistic.
  12. Unfortunately I think that's what happened. Both my 501st sets were 4-4, as was my roommate's copy of the AT-TE.
  13. Hmm. Your first design has some excellent ideas like that bat wing piece at the back and the overall cockpit shaping, but I think re-doing it was the right move. The first design does look a little bit like a batwing. For the Batboat I would keep the footprint you currently have, and bring the rear-center batwing back from iteration 1, between those two new bits you've got on each side of the back (which look good). I would kill the "wings" though, as like I said I think they look a little like a batwing. For the main area I see two moves. Either widen your original cockpit design or re-use the same cockpit width (maybe with a trans-black canopy instead of trans-clear) and have it slope back up on the sides. I might do some stud.io drafts and post them here later if you want me to try and explain my ideas more visually, since I don't think that last sentence was very clear.
  14. Thanks! I've wanted a Hovertank set like that forever as well, I remember my friends and I talked about how we wished the 2016 one had a section of the city when it came out over 6 years ago. I'm glad that the ladder detail is being enjoyed. I have the official version too, and it looks great from the exterior, but doesn't work very well as a troop transport IMO. Thanks! I don't think I executed it perfectly, but I think in concept it's the ideal way to make scarif terrain sets interesting to kids. Thank you! It's definately something they need to make. The TIE line makes it visually recognizable enough, the death troopers would be a huge draw for kids, and the troop transport archtype is one of the most fun vehicle types they put out. Thank you! The Reaper is definately a wave highlight, and I think these GWPs are a design improvement over my last wave's.
  15. First off, this was supposed to include a Zeta Shuttle (Sorry, @ForgedInLego, maybe once I get back to college I'll find the motivation) and release on the 16th of December, but my motivation absolutely tanked after I finished my finals and throughout winter break I made no progress. I've decided to just release the wave now instead of continuing to fail to design said shuttle. Small GWP: Death Star Plans: 115 pieces I dunno, I like it. Large GWP: Yavin IV: 284 pieces (Suggested by @TeddytheSpoon) A combination of the exclusive figs and the diorama sets. The temple isn't perfect, but I like my Y-wing designs. Figure is Mon Mothma. Microfighter 1: Imperial Tank: 100 pieces Not much to say about it, it's a small tx-225 (Not hovering, since they changed it shortly before the film) tank. You'll note some of the helmets are wrong, stud.io has a limited inventory. The figure is meant to be a tank pilot. Microfighter 2: U-wing: 100 pieces At first it looks similar to the official one, but the chassis is different and the wings are longer, as well as different engines. Figure would be a rebel pilot. Microfighter Duel Pack: TIE Reaper VS X-wing microfighters: 201 pieces The X-wing was hard to make different from the official ones, though I think I made some solid changes. I think my TIE Reaper microfighter is nice. Figures are a Death Trooper and Antoc Merrick. Scarif Rebels Battle Pack: 133 pieces Alright, so we're starting to get into the meat of the wave. Some of the smaller sets come with pin connections to create different Scarif layouts. The builds here are a crate, a small bit of landing pad, and some ferns with a function to open and unveil an attacking rebel. The fern can be removed from the landing pad bit since it's just attached with pins. Figs are four rebels. Shoretroopers Battle Pack: 124 pieces Another part of the scarif layout. Here we've got another bit of landing pad, a palm tree, and an E-web, alongside 2 shoretroopers, a shoretrooper squad leader, and a stormtrooper. Scarif Master Switch Battle: 345 pieces: (Suggested by @YourLocalB2) The final part of the scarif layout. The build isn't the most exciting, but with the action features (exploding switch, trooper being "shot"), and the places for the troops to lie in cover, I think it'd be solid. Figs are a stormtrooper, death trooper, Colonel Tonc, and Chirrut Imwe. Rebel X-wing 2-in-1: 735 pieces: (Suggested by @Omand) Oh man, now we're getting into the good ones. This set (Specifically in the blue squadron colors) is my favorite in the wave. I combined elements of the 2021, 2018, and 2012 X-wings to create one that's sized about the same as the 2021 x-wing and contains an s-foil feature, but without that horrific function of the 2021 one where the entire back fuselage just crunches when it's in attack position. (the set would use rubber bands). Figs are Antoc Merrick, General Draven, Saw Guerrera, and Benthic Two-Tubes. And it's a two-in-one, containing parts to build it into a partisan X-wing. Not as big of a fan of this color scheme but this was built only a few weeks after Andor and people seemed to love that partisan x-wing cameo. Man I do love those blue squadron colors. The partisan skin should have been an x-wing skin for squadrons. Actually, it probably was, and I just forgot because the game was so bland. Imperial Assault Tank: 800 pieces It's definately different than the 2016 one... the tank (and crates) alone clocks in at almost double the part count of that set, and is significantly larger and more detailed. The set can fit the canon crew of three, and features spring shooters on the bottom activated by pressing the 2x2 tile on the roof of the tank. Not very interesting below the crates, but here it is. Some Jedha area with an explode feature on the first floor of the building, as well as showing off the kyber crystal inside the crate. Figures are three hovertank crew, a Jedha stormtrooper with backpack, and three disguised partisans (one with a thermal detonator) ...I'm just realizing this is basically "guerrilla tactics: Ages 6-12" and we would not get this as a set, at least not with partisans. But hey, it's my list. I can do what I want. TIE Reaper: 848 pieces Another one I'm pretty happy with. (ignore the failed clips on the wings, they never attach right when I do this in stud.io but generally work IRL). You can see the spring shooters launching from the sides of the ship. Of course, what's a Reaper without it's troop capacity? The set comfortably holds 10 death troopers, but can probably hold more if you really pack em in. The design of the ship means you can't really put in the cockpit at the front at this size, so I moved it to the back. The two TIE pilots have a moniter in front of them that would ideally have a printed tile showing a view from the Reaper's front sensors. Ramp open. The TIE Reaper kinda looks hungry. The set would come with 4 death troopers, 2 TIE pilots, Baze Malbus, and Melshi. U-wing starfighter: 901 pieces I really tried to get two pilot sitting side-by-side, but it just doesn't work with a 4-wide cockpit, and the larger cockpits are hilariously oversized, so they sit sort of diagonal like in the lambda set from 2015. Here it is wings open, with Bistan firing the pintle-mounted turret. Here you can see the cockpit, ladder, and trooper hold. Only 4 seats, but you can fit more figures in front of and behind the seating area. The set would come with 2 rebel pilots, Bistan, Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, Bodhi Rook, and K-2SO Eadu Confrontation Diorama: 555 pieces: (Suggested by @TeddytheSpoon and @YourLocalB2) Qoute is "Farming, Really? Man of your talents?" -Director Orson Krennic. There's not a ton to the scene, but I think I captured the dreariness of Eadu well. Figs are 4 death troopers, Krennic (with cap) and Galen. Vader's Rage Diorama: 641 pieces (Not sure why this image is so small, sorry). Qoute is "TAKE IT!!!" -Rebel Trooper. Not much to say about this one. Neck brackets allow for Vader's victims to be put in some painful poses, and there's a sliding door to allow the troopers to "TAKE IT!!!" Had to have some fun with the empty space at the back. Just a little easter egg. Also-and feel free to skip this part, here's my plan for 1hy 2023 (In spoiler for space): Also also, and I hate to plug this, but I have started selling instructions (Ironically, my first sale was instructions for the Daredevil modular building I posted here awhile back that wasn't very popular on Eurobricks). If anything from this wave happens to jump out at you (which I don't believe will happen, some of those smaller sets especially are pretty weak IMO) let me know and we can negotiate a price. Anyways, thanks for listening to me ramble for almost an entire forum page, Let me know what you thought of the wave! Personally, I thought my microfighters and some of the other smaller sets were pretty weak this time, but I really liked my larger starfighters and the tank.
  16. Received and built my 2 copies of the 501st pack. The figures are the real highlight and are of course excellent. After having the helmets in-hand I find the complaints about them completely absurd, they look excellent. The macros are nice as well, though they really needed just a black line printed on them. That said, the build doesn't slouch either. I've always argued that lego should try to make canon stuff for the battle packs, and while undersized, I think this is miles better than some random garbage. It's also surprisingly well-built, and the most fun spring shooter integration I've seen in some time.
  17. Like I said, I think he's grey, and that's clearly the intention, but as even your post shows, for some reason he looks green to many people.
  18. they look pretty lime green to me in the movies, so hopefully we're safe. Unlike Drax where while I personally always thought he was gray, it seemed to be sort of a "dress is blue and black vs white and gold" thing for many people (and he's green in the comics).
  19. Wait, how the heck do you measure the popularity of a CMF figure, where are you getting that they were popular? From what I saw, people didn't like the inclusion of Gamora (though that's a gray area considering her episode got delayed), and thought having Zombie Cap AND Captain Carter alongside Sam Cap was excessive. The only one I saw that people seemed to really like was the spidey.
  20. Hmm. I think the first SW set I remember owning was 8084 Snowtrooper Battle Pack, and shortly after, it's sister set 8083 rebel trooper battle pack. I remember loving that rocket launcher in the snowtrooper set, and using it as a homing missile. At the time I was a young kid, and while I liked star wars, it was one theme among many. It wasn't until 2015, when I saw the Force Awakens, that I really fell in love with Star Wars. Say what you will about the movie, but it was the first one I saw in theatres, and I remember walking out of the theatre with the scene where Poe's X-wing shoots down all those TIEs on Takodana. The second I got out of the theatre I hastily added 75102 Poe's X-wing Fighter to my christmas list, and while it's $80 price was high for a christmas present (especially since I added it after seeing the film on the 15th and I'm sure my parents had already purchased some presents by then), I was surprised christmas night with it, and it was my favorite set for years. After that, Star Wars became the main and almost only theme I collected, and my love for the franchise went from "cool movies" to being able to recite the specific name of all canon rebel and imperial ships in middle school. So long story short, 8084 is technically my first SW set, but 75102 is really what I would consider my first set and the birth of my love of lego star wars.
  21. I really think this is a missed opportunity. Even just Batman on a rooftop with some Gotham Architecture. Dioramas are really something I think they could sell. That's a solid point, I could really see that. Only thing is the age (I'm sure it's been in some comics or something but everyone knows it from superfriends), but if the 66 batcave sold well, the Hall of Doom should do fine too.
  22. I would love more from the TDK trilogy. Yeah I definately see that as well.
  23. You say that, but we've been so starved for x-men content that I would welcome getting cyclops and storm.
  24. IF it's actually successful. I like the Guardians movies but I'm worried Gunn can't handle an entire cinematic universe, or worse, he's going to give everything the same caustic tone SS2 and Peacemaker had. If the DCU doesn't do it we're right back where we started.... ...BUT the DCU isn't the only way to make DC successful. A good animated series, a revived multimedia push, etc. Most of the DC sets weren't based on the movies (This sets aside TLBM sets entirely as they're technically based on A movie but at the same time like...do they really count in the same way?), so the movies themselves aren't necessary to the theme, though they're certainly helpful, as marvel has shown. What DC really needs is some content kids in lego's target age range can enjoy. Right now there's distressingly little between batwheels and harley quinn.
  25. I think the main issue is there aren't many buildings that work well with the most well-known DC characters. Here's the most common suggestions I've seen: Arkham: This is the only one that I think has a really solid chance at being a thing. Batman means it should sell, and it has the potential for both an interesting exterior and an interesting interior with all the special cells. Batcave/Wayne Manor: Even with this, the only other one I think is a shoe-in iconicity wise, there's the issue of how it would logistically work Daily Planet: I can only see this working if Gunn's superman takes off, and the planet is involved in some capacity. The globe on top gives the building some interesting elements, but the company itself isn't as well known as the Bugle (JJJ is just so much more well-known, not to mention he stomps Perry White low-mid diff.). The interior would be if anything LESS interesting than the bugle. Hall of Justice: I just don't know. There's definately an interior there, and some iconicity, but the overall shape of the building would be tough to scale to figs. Watchtower: This is the most absurd to me as much as I love JLU. It'd be difficult to get any sort of real interior without making it hilariously large due to it's shape, and it's less well known than the rest of the list. If anything it would be better as a UCS set. The Fortress of Solitude: I could see this working as a system set, but at a full Modular size I just don't see it being worth it to most people. Daily Planet maybe, GCPD no. Lego gives us a standard police station every few years, and as much as I'd love the chicago architecture of, say, the Nolan GCPD, none of the iterations of it have ever been iconic enough to warrent a set in the way a Batcave would.
