  1. Wait, I'm sorry, does it fit the iron man fig? If so, this goes from one of your general excellent MOCs to just absolutely flexing on the lego designers. If this fits the iron man fig, any excuses for the official set looking as dumb as it does go out the window. This almost makes me want to buy the hulkbuster set, horrifyingly enough.
  2. Couldn't have said it better myself. (And I, too, am not on twitter, and never have been.) All I'll add is I literally never said aquaman was likely to be cancelled. Just that after batgirl, and with the general situation (amber heard, ending universe, etc), it's not out of the question. It's possible. I have no idea why certain persons have decided to angrily go after the argument that the batgirl film means aquaman is probably cancelled, because no one is making that argument.
  3. Jeez. Props to @Ransom Fern, he continues to show his mechanical being design is unparalleled (ROTB optimus alt build please!), but the main thing I get from this is that the hulkbuster was so badly designed that you can literally take the pieces IN THAT SET and make a better version of it. This isn't the general thing of a moc being better than the official set. This uses the same parts as the set, and while I can't speak to this specific model, Fern's stuff is usually pretty stable, so the usual reasons MOCs look better don't apply. While you can put at least some of the blame on the official model having to fit the large iron man fig, Fern clearly shows the hulkbuster could have been done significantly better. IMO, this shows the depths of the issues with lego marvel. It's not just that we get weird set choices like the BP bust. It's not just that sets have low budgets or poorly allocated budgets leading to subpar figs. The biggest lego marvel set of all time was poorly designed. Hard disagree. For one thing, I think Andrew's head/hair specifically look perfect. And of course we're getting re-used faces. I they had had new face prints, everyone would complain that the print budget was allocated to that instead of, say, leg printing for goblin or something. But my main point is that the hair/heads are extras, and something we very rarely get. In general, lego marvel is definately having quality issues. Even in that set, figs like Goblin are very subpar, and missing figs like Lizard are noticeable. But the spare heads being re-uses is such a minor thing compared to everything else that IMO, complaining about it just makes the larger quality issues blend in with complaints like this.
  4. I hope Optimus sold well enough to get us another transformer. It doesn't seem like we'll be seeing one this year, which at the least implies that they didn't have another one ready and best case scenario were waiting to see how Optimus sold before starting development. If we do see another one, I feel like Bee and Megatron are about equally likely, though I think Bee would likely be the Bay/Knight design rather than the G1 design. Primal would have made some sense as a tie-in this year, but there's literally no way to transform him in lego like he does in the film. Not without removing a significant number of parts to get him into his more humanoid form.
  5. Absolutely mind-blowing! I'm glad all the work that went into this over the years paid off!
  6. The lekku is an ABS plastic part, not rubber. You just got unlucky.
  7. I'm not saying it won't release, I'm saying there's a chance it won't release. Remember batgirl? But there are sets! They just never explicitly stated that the sets they'd make would be based on those movies! When blue beetle comes out, it'll be alongside sets of the bat jet-ski thing and a system keaton batcave
  8. I don't necessarily think it's the same situation. The flash set was just retooled into a burton set due to the controversy. Following this, all they'd have had to do for an aquaman 2 set is remove Mera. That said, I think you're correct that we won't see any sets for aquaman 2. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure we'll be seeing the FILM.
  9. Completely agree, and have experienced the same myself. I also have seen Kit Fisto heads and Shaak Ti montrals losing most of their print over time.
  10. 100% agree. Now that the battle packs are getting new faces and straying from the OT's rebel trooper extras, why not add more aliens into the mix a la the battlefront games? I'm gonna throw some imperial counterparts at you. Always love when they released two opposing factions at the same time: Dark Trooper battle pack: 1x stormtrooper, 1x imperial technician, 2x dark trooper. Build is 2 dark trooper pods and small turret. Blizzard force battle pack: I mean, we just did this one. I'll say 3x snowtrooper, 1x assault platform driver. Build is a miniaturized assault platform. Shield Bunker guards battle pack: 2x scout trooper, 2x navy trooper. Build is a bunker console and small defensive turret. Jakku Imperial Remnant battle pack: 3x stormtroopers (dirtied armor), 1x scout trooper (dirtied armor). Build is an E-web and a speeder bike. Imperial Army battle pack: 2x stormtrooper (both with medium blasters, but one with a thermal detonator and the other with a sidearm), imperial engineer (with fusion cutter and pistol), phase 0 dark trooper. Build is a station with a med-droid, gonk, command post, and circular bf2005 turret. Speaking of battle packs, I'm starting the unlock process for Supreme Leader Kylo Ren in SWGOH, so I've been seeing a lot of the first order infantry. Here's 5 separate first order battle packs: First Order assault team: 2x first order stormtrooper, 1x first order heavy trooper, 1x first order stormtrooper specialist (red pauldron). Build is a wall barricade alongside an infantry turret build for the officer, shield and sentry minigun for the heavy trooper, and weapon builds of the dioxis launcher and vanguard slugthrower for the standard troopers. Starkiller base defenders: 2x first order snowtroopers, 1x snowtrooper commander, and 1x officer (heavy weather). Build is a small platform with a turret and First Order banner. First Order Fleet: 2x stormtrooper executioner, 1x first order TIE pilot, and 1x special forces TIE pilot. Build is a security console and turret. First Order special troopers: 1x riot trooper, 1x flame trooper, 1x treadspeeder pilot, and 1x jet trooper. Build is a treadspeeder. Sith Eternal troopers: 3x sith trooper, 1x sith jet trooper. Build is a turbolaser turret from a xyston-class destroyer.
  11. Helmet looks good. Not much to say, I think it's a pretty accurate representation of the one in the promo image.
  12. It's one of the lowest-effort leaks I've seen in some time. The clearly 08/09 figs, the croc photoshopped in at the weirdest angle, etc. Though it's a slight improvement of his jabba's palace "leak", where he posted a MOC of it, then the next post is that same MOC (which if we're being honest isn't very good) with a 2010 lego watermark pasted on it. At this point, given the reception of the 5th film, I think it's pretty clear Indy as a theme is probably gone. The best we can hope for is that the sets out sell well enough to get us the occasional diorama or 18+ set in the years to come.
  13. Pretty much 100%, given every MCU film in the past 10 years has had at least one set. But isn't it New World Order? To be fair, we had Noir and Ham in the years following the release of the first film. All I'm hoping for is a 2099 based more closely on the film.
  14. It seemed like an easy enough assignment. Some Jedi in the agriculture corps had escaped order 66 a few years back by blind luck. Just hadn't had any clones assigned to him. When they finally got around to checking, he wasn't even hiding. Just living in some village not more than 20 klicks from the nearest imperial base, on the same planet he was assigned to at the end of the clone wars. With the Inquisitorius busy dealing with more significant threats, the brass figured our contingent of troopers could deal with it. So did we. After all, it was just some farmer, wasn't it? How tough could he be, if the jedi didn't even have him fighting in the war? TK-836 - Buck - he was the first to die. Fool thought he spotted the old farmer, rushed towards him. By the time we got to him, his mangled body was strewn against a fern. TK-473- Jem- didn't have it much better. One second, he's walking through the brush, and the next, branches snap up onto him like a Felicuian flytrap. He was crushed on the spot. But this planet doesn't have carnivorous plants. Something made those branches do that. That same something stopped TK-943- that is... that was, I guess- Kare- midway through her own rush towards the old man, who we'd now gotten a clear sight of. A vine lifted itself off the ground and slammed her back towards me, with enough force to twist her helmet fully around. TK-562- Larson- tried to get into a firing position. I guess he thought the jedi's attention was focused on Kare. Seconds later, I look over and he hasn't been able to get off a shot. His blaster's down, helmet's off, and he's wrapped in vines that are closing around his neck. TK-784- Irri- met a similar fate. Vine twisted itself around her neck, and it was over. I'd only heard stories about the jedi as a kid, never actually seen one. But I'd always heard they were cold, emotionless. This old man- you could see the anger in him. It was like his eyes were glowing. And you could feel, in that moment- it was like the entire jungle was as angry as he was. Like he was bending it to it's will- no- like it was part of him. Like he and the jungle were one and the same. He had a lightsaber- I remember a beam of emerald light- but I don't think he ever used it. My entire squad was consumed, torn apart, strangled, and run through by the plants themselves. By the time it got Kare, I'd realized my rifle wasn't going to do anything and had armed a thermal detonator. I don't know what I expected. The second it left my hand, plants surrounded the old man, covering him, and a fern whipped the grenade back towards me. I don't know how I survived. By the time I woke up, my squad was dead. The jedi was gone, but the jungle still felt hostile, angry. -Excerpt from Stormtrooper Sargent TK-858's infantry requisition request for flametrooper units.
  15. Thank you! Most of my MOCs are meant to emulate lego's official sets, so it was fun to do a more studless design here. Thank you!
  16. Cutting it a bit close (and up to 3 more entries to come tomorrow, if I can squeeze them in), but here's my second imperial ship, the Epsilon-Class Imperial Personnel Shuttle! The Epsilon-Class Imperial Personnel Transport (I'm making all of this up, by the way) was an imperial transport shuttle in the vein of the Lambda, Sentinal, Delta, Rho, Zeta, and Omicron shuttles, though it most closely represented a diminutive Lambda. The Imperial Personnel shuttle was the brainchild of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who, in keeping with his valuation of efficiency, commissioned a small, cheap shuttle that could relay officers from ship-to-ship, or from a capital ship down planetside. In the image above, Thrawn welcomes an imperial engineer and his crew, escorted by spacetroopers. The shuttle was piloted by a single imperial. The main hull housed three passengers. Enough for an officer and two guards, or three members of an engineering corps or scanning crew. Unlike larger shuttles, which featured ramps lowering from the cockpit side or floor of the shuttle, the Imperial Personnel shuttle simply had a rear hatch. Although the Imperial Personnel Transport was most commonly seen in the hanger bays of Thrawn's katana-class dreadnaughts, the shuttles could be seen in the New Beyond in multiplanetary systems transporting personnel from planet to planet. A common sight in the territory of Thrawn's remnant was for an Epsilon-Class shuttle escorted by two TIE Reconnoiters. In the event of a rebel skirmish, or more likely an altercation with one of the many alien species in the new beyond, the Reconnoiters and their Spacetroopers provided an oft-underestimated punch, strong enough to distract the invading force while the Personnel Transport either reached it's destination or retreated to the safety of a capital ship's hanger bay. The ship turned out a little too similar to a diminutive Lambda for my tastes, but I'm satisfied with the purpose it serves overall. Let me know what you think!
  17. If you told me you stole an early copy of a set for the Thrawn film I'd 100% have believed you (Ok, maybe not given that it's like 2 years away, but you get the point.) This thing looks official.
  18. Totally agree as well. I'm expecting Sabine to be excellent, and I'm a big fan of the shock troopers so I'm biased but I think Fox and his men will look great too.
  19. This is my M4-23 "Rogue Clone" entry, about a band of clone deserters who still help the citizens of the galaxy, though now as fugitives themselves rather than an organized army. This group of clones has drawn the attention of a band of raiders, who they intend to take out to end their harassment of the locals. The build is on a 32x32 baseplate, with a pathway running though the brush, and a rock formation at the back. An image from the raider's perspective. Doesn't seem to be going well for them. Behind one of the rock formations is a cavern containing the clones' hideout. Inside we can see their weapons, some armor, their helmets, a dejerek table, and a comms console. Another angle of the attack of the clones. I like the one that's just leaping onto a raider. The five rogue clones. In the red is CT- 3279 "Scaler", a former clone captain specializing in mountaineering. Next to him in blue is CT-3002 "Otto", another former captain and an excellent quickdraw. With the knife is CT-7125 "Grills", a former clone private who didn't even have a nickname before deserting, who quickly became the group's survivalist expert. In the hood is CT-4111 "Trip", a former clone pilot and excellent marksman. The bald clone is CT-2901 "Rancor", a former clone gunner nicknamed for his ferocity and constantly expressed desire to attack the seppies face-to-face. (As a side note, I kind of wish we would get some more clone expressions. I don't have Cody and the Batch's faces are all very character-specific) And here are the raiders. I didn't name any of them, but the leader's the one in the cape. They pretty much used up all the brown, dark tan, and olive fig parts in my collection. The large gentleman in the back is a build I've been playing with for years, I think he started as a droid. I'd also like to point out the guy with a tire around his head as a sort of muzzle. One final image of the whole thing. Let me know any comments you've got on it!
  20. There's a significant different, I think, from sets that aren't completely accurate (either by the bricks simply not being available or by trying to add playability), and stuff that not only isn't actually from any star wars material but doesn't follow the SW design language. Even the stuff for lego's own non-canon shows at least look like they could plausibly be in star wars. No, because I am altering the deal. Pray I do not alter it further.
  21. I could see that. Though this almost feels too optimistic. I'm gonna guess we end up getting 501st clone trooper mech, beskar mando mech, and emperor palpatine mech. UCS Conveyex confirmed. Let's now spend 5 pages discussing it.
  22. Couldn't have said it better myself, but I'll try: Chewbacca isn't much taller than any of the other tall SW characters. You think Vader should have the long legs? Or Phasma? Chewie is 8 ft tall. The avatar people average 10ft tall. What's more, he doesn't have particularly lanky limbs, he's just a larger being.
  23. My only point is that the set isn't significantly more iconic than the other GAR vehicles we've either only had once or never had at all. As for the venator, a what, $650 set without an interior is significantly different than a $170 max playscale one. Are you really saying if they released a $600 UCS turbo tank with no fig-scaled interior, you'd rather get it than a used one (for $255 with all figs for the 2016 version, by the way. Or $125 if you only want the tank itself. I keep pretty updated on BL since I'm a seller there.) All I'm gonna say about this is that lego routinely has made separate versions of boba fett for eps 5 and 6 and puts them in sets accurately. Since this started with ESB Boba Fett I know there's an "altering the deal" joke here but I'm not witty enough to make it. To try and get back on topic, does anyone think the mechs are gonna come back next year? Obviously it's sale-dependent, but say the Vader and Stormtrooper ones do poorly. Do you think we'd still have a 2024 wave?
  24. The scale is a valid complaint, but wouldn't a bigger issue than scale be the builds being completely non-canon and out of the SW aesthetic? Now I'd prefer fig-scaled and canon stuff as well (And at $17, I feel like they could definately make canon stuff, probably with 2-3 figs as well. Look at the guardians headquarters for only $10.), but if it's between non-canon mechs and microfighters that, while out of scale, are at least representations of canon vehicles, I'll choose the microfighters every day. For $7 more than the $10 marvel mechs we had in 2022, they could at least put a couple pieces on the back for that. It's kind of ironic, as the CCBS SW figures were known for actually having solid back coverage/detailing unlike the bionicles and hero factory figures of the time.
  25. No, it's more of the reverse. It's generally a mix of stuff we recently got (and/or stuff prevalent in the culture at the time, such as anniversaries or new products) and just absolutely random stuff. I'd love a new, larger hailfire though. The 2015 one was too small. (That said, I don't get the turbo tank hype. We've had 3, I'd rather have a new venator, or even something like a frigate, SPHAT, or acclamator.) Good god man at least the marvel mechs (or the ones I have at least) TRIED to do some detailing on the back. That looks horrendous. And if I'm not wrong, that LBG mess is one piece? Why are we juniorizing the mechs? They looked fine back when they were $10!
