  1. That's a nice design indeed, but I fear the ball/socket will wear out eventually if used a lot, especially in your CV-joint design, which is why official designs use different kind of clutch mechanism. The standard 24T clutch gear is pretty smooth, though not suitable for all applications.
  2. That's a really weird part. I mean, I can see it being useful but at the same time the way it's designed screams of POOP. Why the bushing-like axleholes and not just continue the connector style middle-part all the way to the ends?
  3. Haha, I didn't expect you to. Just wanted to add it here to show how these parts have surprisingly many alternate uses, beside covering wheel wells. About the aforementioned Lunar Research Base, while the usage is nice, I wish they had done a bit more to make it flow better with the rest of the building. Maybe some bricks to continue the bottom tips on each side so that it wouldn't look like it was just slapped and left there.
  4. The B-model looks even better than the A-model. Very nice for a small set, gotta love those panel extenders too. Now I just wish they would be available in more colours...
  5. These new panels look exactly what I've been wanting for a while. Now, give me those in other colours (nothing wrong with black, but more is more). The front wheel arches indeed look quite ugly, the Technic beam holes just break the inner side completely, while the outer side isn't that great either.
  6. I had very low expectations for the Megalodon as the source material looks pretty dumb, but the Lego version is surprisingly good looking. Might even go and buy me one.
  7. That's nice, though not the first time I see such a usage of fender parts. I also used one for my TC20 entry behind the seat as engine cover.
  8. Yeah, I have two of those from the 51515 set, but that's definitely a NPU and should bring them more widely available (I've tried to shop for two more when making BL orders, but none of those shops I'm interested in otherwise have had them).
  9. What a funny little GBC, so simple, yet so effective and fun to look at! That depends on what do you consider premature. All springs wear out eventually, depending on how much compression cycles they are put through, so I'm sure they will wear out at some point, but I have no idea how much that is. If I had to guess, I'd say you'll wear out dozens of motors before the springs give in.
  10. The best part about this design is that there's no arrow in it. I understand why the official bows have arrows molded into them, but when a minifig is carrying the bow around and not preparing to shoot, the arrow looks just stupid being there.
  11. Wow, this is magnificent! I'm sure something like this is exactly what the contest is about, the transformation is flawless and the machine actually does both drive and walk which is no small feat. Unfortunately though, the rules state quite clearly that the entries must be new and never published before, as quoted from the rules: "Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously or shown at an event/LUG meeting)." Otherwise your creation would've been surely in the top-3. Maybe you can try to enter with another build, as you clearly have the skill to make this sort of things?
  12. I wonder if the seats could be made so that the minifigs sit lower? That might allow centrifugal force to tilt the carriages so that the minifigs would stay put better. Though they might not be heavy enough in any case, and would need a rubber band or something to keep them in place...
  13. Looks great, can't wait for the video!
  14. Neon yellow is pretty common colour in real life ambulances though, so making an ambulance set with the new colour would add variety to the whiteness of the theme.
  15. I think that even if you're a purist, third party strings, hoses and rubber bands are allowed.
  16. I have 4 of those motors, they came with the 51515 set which I bought a bit over year ago.
  17. How about transformation that is spring-loaded, but a motor must be used to wind up the spring?
  18. The black pin has been updated, it no longer has the central slot, which enabled the snap. This makes it somewhat tighter fit, which means stronger connections at the expense of making it harder to pull out. If you remember the original black pin from the 80's, this new version is not as tight as that, but somewhere between the original and the one that was in use for decades. YMMV if it's good or bad, I don't personally care much either way.
  19. Congrats! Racing Brick along with the Brick Experiment Channel are the only Lego channels on Youtube I care to regularly follow.
  20. I'm quite curious to see how the various panels are attached so that they are at correct orientation while still being secured well in place. Sculpting these kind of complex, curved bodywork always seemed really intimidating task for myself, yet some people (like the author of this thread) are obviously still able to do it...
  21. There are ways of performing 3 functions with 2 motors, just look at some of the older universal sets like the 8094 Control Center. You just have to be very clever about the mechanisms.
  22. Perfectly within the rules, as long as you can make it fully transform back to the nice, generic MOC form.
  23. Once again, I'm tempted to buy a set, not for what it is officially but for the alternate models that can be built from it. Awesome work as always!
  24. No problem! Sad though, but also understandable that there has to be limitations.
